If I was the owner of the company that sold you these vans I'd be looking for a new garage after seeing the bodge job on these vans
Probably a Ford main dealer 😂
@@gimble447😂
Don't blame you 😮
Definitely bodgers
You don't know if the owner set a budget for them to last until they were sold. Rough work none the less
Chris for sure is a proper engineer. Old school.
It's great to see how his mind works looking for a proper fix.
Once it's fixed it stays fixed.
This is the best motoring channel I have watched. It is real life and this is what makes it great. This channel is much better than any commercial TV series i.e Wheeler dealers ect. The videos are raw and yet very educational, I have learnt alot from watching this channel. What a top man Chris is too. Good work Rob and Chris.
I never thought of it like that until you said it. It's true! And I think Rob and Chris have developed a really brilliant front of camera rapport and style.
Am I the only one that wants to see the full Monty on the transit vans don’t worry about being repetitive, I’m invested in these transits now lol
Broken stud, oversized studs.......... Chris : " No problem, hold my cough mixture !" 👍🤩 Even when he`s unwell he`s still brings his `A` game ! 👍
😂
Not only is Chris a great mechanic, but a fine Engineer.
Good knowledge of tools, particularly the lathe ❤
I always wondered what they did with the machine after they drilled the channel tunnel. Turns out there's a lad in Cornwall using it to repair exhaust manifolds 🤣 top work lads, would love to see some lathe action.
I seem to remember that tunnel borer was more accurate than those holes were in that head. He's probably using a family heirloom Stanley hand crank drill with a blunt bit, last sharpened by his great grandfather in 1905 l.o.l .
I take my hat off to Chris, he is one hell of a clever guy who always thinks about the job and always works out a solution in the best possible way
I think Chris is an ace at innovation. Any obstacle is thoroughly thought about and he provides a solution to resolve it. Rob you would be totally lost without Chris by your side.
Machining that oversize stud from a standard bolt is genius!
chris is a bloody genius.....calm and collected and solves the issue no problem
The brilliance of working out a solution is only surpassed by the ability to manufacture the part. 👍👍👍
The best thing is, after all Chris's awesome repairs, that vehicle will be 100% and ready for more work
Well done guys 👏
Chris doing his stuff as usual on this one Rob, looks like a lovely result.
Brilliant idea from Chris on those studs, this is where years of experience really pays off. Top job gents!
This is probably one of the most impressive things I've seen Chris do. Kudos
No one deserves a bodge mechanic working on their vehicles, a great bit of work Chris.
The man is a genius, must be great working with Chris. Can turn his hand to most things
I'm not sure what you guys list as your profession but the skills you demonstrate between the two of you cross multiple trades.
Enjoyed today's engineering demonstration from Chris dealing with the manifold, superb 👌
Great vid as usual gents. Chris is a wizard! I like the trick of filling the hole if the drill runs off. I’ll remember that next time I’m trying to drill out a broken stud. Magic!
Magic hands Chris strike again. Drilling those studs out is always something that only a master can achieve. I cannot claim any skill in that task.
Chris is old fashioned think-on-your-feet - reminds me of my old dad with his fixes
I get broken manifold studs all the time in the marine game, I learnt the hard way with walking drills. Now, I make a little jig from mild steel plate and tube. Use the manifold as a template, cut a bit of plate that covers the port your dealing with, machine out some mild steel bar about 25mm long on the lathe the thickness of the drill to be used, when you then drill inside your jig it keeps the drill straight and stops it wondering, I also use the snap on left hand drill bits, super sharp 😁
Another absolute master class from Chris
You need to get Chris an apprentice to teach all these techniques too . We need people to carry on this knowledge.
I guess the people you bought these vehicles off will be watching and looking for a new garage to have their replacement trucks serviced at !. Your comment about time was interesting as I’ve always thought time is your greatest asset
Chris skill sets are endless broken stubs are a nightmare but he just keeps his head and just sorts the problem .
Boy's .As l've said many times you're the perfect partnership . It takes 2 to tango !!! Well done guy's .
Fantastic job gents. Chris is an absolute genius with his fixes on parts. Very good cheap work truck. Another super pre tax profit
When I used to snap manifold bolts (any bolt) the backs of my knees went cold … my painless world had ended. Chris sees a snapped bolt and starts salivating … 😂
Gotta love how humble Chris is master at what he does
I just wish I had a mechanics with your level of integrity and honestly, well done lads 👏 between you guys and Mat Armstrong you guys smash it!
Chris is definitely an engineer at heart as well as a cracking mechanic. Good work lads.
Chris is an old school mechanic. Always interesting to watch.
Chris is not a mechanic, he’s an engineer 👍. Well done guys it’s a pleasure to watch you working like this.
@ 1.55 you mention " quite highly maintained", the problem is the mechanic who carried out the work hasn't got a clue. Great video with Chris the wizard on the tools.
Good use of the lathe & knowledge of tools ❤😊
Chris is an amazing mechanic he really takes pride in what he does no bodge job with his work. Well done both of you. Xx
Chris is a complete legend 👏 🙌🏻 you should call the guys you bought them from and tell them find a new garage 😮
Drilling those studs is a difficult job well done Chris that must have been pretty trying ! Hope your felling better dude I felt for you out there in the freezing cold repairing a bodge job coughing your ring up ! Proper trouper 👍
Worth every little bit of profit 📈 with working out in the rain 🌧 on that Transit ❤
Give yourself a pat on the back Chris 😊
Think you need to get an apprentice, those engineering skills Chris have would be good to pass on. 😊
CHRIS, CHRIS, CHRIS!! Amazing skills making the parts for this one.
Nice work Chris. That little tip of filling up the hole with chemical metal to enable you to centralise the drill out is a gem.
Don't know what garage was servicing these ford transits but they where not good at putting them back together correctly & doing some bodge jobs on them
A true craftsman at work with good old engineer skills put that together it makes a perfect partnership well done lads
The bloke has the patience of a saint and the skill of a master. Great fix wouldn’t of mind seeing him spin the studs on the lathe.
There is some very diplomatic language being used in this video 🙂
That stepped stud is a GENIUS idea - well done Chris!
Seen it done 60 years ago on a side valve Hillman Minx. Kept blowing head gaskets. Proper engineer made a new head stud. Never blew again. Was my brother's car, and his boss did it.
Yet again the master at work, brilliant, but you both are and your work ethic is excellent. Hope the seller does not use same garage, it is appalling what they did to the engines, bodgers. 👍👍👍👍👍
Outstanding work by Chris. So knowledgeable.
Kudos to Chris. Excellent work. Fair play to you Rob for saying you don’t drill out bolts and the reasons why. Top vid again gents.
Chris you are an absolute fantastic engineer to be able to drill studs out - brilliant!!
Again fantastic video very independent of all you do , well done.
Chris has done it again brilliant job so clever 👌
I would check everything the other "garage" fixed. All they did was wrecking these Transits.
Great job Robby and Chris!
The man of many talents hes like a swiss army knife in greasy coveralls nice one boys crack on
Great to see Chris’s skills in action again to fix the manifold bolts issues. He is a legend. Great truck at £8.5k, no shortage of takers! 😎🇬🇧👍
Chris is old school.
I’ve worked under managers who would say “you just need to drill it out and tap it” but they wouldn’t have a clue how to do that. They would approach it with a masonry bit and the drill on hammer!!
Through out my working life it’s always made me chuckle when told “you just need to blah blah blah”
If I could go Back in time I would of loved to do an apprenticeship working to chris he's is one of the best mechanics around and old school all them little ideas and tricks of the trade is brilliant well done lads
I’m a builder by trade. It’s nice to see somebody. Take care and pride in his work and take his time and do a proper job that is how it should’ve been done in the first place cannot beat experience 10 out of 10 🇬🇧👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🍺🍺🍺👏👏👏
Chris is a wizard absolutely brilliant auto engineer cannot fault him I say this all the time duo made a fantastic channel keep it up
Chris is a very quite but very clear man you can tell he is always thinking when he isn’t saying anything
brilliant watching wizard chris make them bolts! interested what you will do with the parts one
Stud fix was great 👍 . I love seeing bodged jobs rectified
Chris you could fit a remote control Winch inside the workshop, you would be able to pull the vehicles in then with one person! If they aren't running. You could even have one to pull them out.
That was truly a brilliant video- I really enjoy and admire watching how Chris tackles the difficult problems, he is a star!😊
What a team, Chris is a legend and just does every job 100% perfect 👍👍👍
chris you are the man show them how it should be done
Be careful Gentlemen or you will get annexed by Ford as a dedicated service provider. It’s great that Chris always has a new talent to WOW the crowd. And with a good friend like Rob who obviously looks out for all his friends. No Worries. Can’t wait to see the next ones. Thank You
It's great Rob how you appreciate Chris's talents; everyone needs a genuine compliment now and again. Another nice, interesting video, thanks lads.
Chris's knowledge is second to none a master in his field built up with years of experience....👏👏 the last owner of the vans should be looking for a new garage to fix the fleet instead bodgit and scarper & co 😮
Chris.. what a clever chap to think of cutting/turning down those bolts to make stepped down studs and not having to drill the new manifold and gasket!. Bravo!
Is there anything Chris can’t do ? Love his attention to detail, a true perfectionist
Engines used to have brass manifold nuts & fine UNF / BSF threads to prevent these problems , wonder why they don't do something similar now ?
Respect for the drill out of the old stud, not easy, been there myself. These are turning out ok as a bulk purchase👍👍👍
You guys are true artisans at what you do,quality and attention to detail is second to none as usual. You are a credit to your profession 👌❤
Good evening Rob & Chris 😊 With these sort of vehicles Rob it really make Salvage Rebuilds the best repair vehicle on RUclips without a doubt 🤩 I haven’t got any words on how fantastic Chris is on his workmanship on fixing these motors 👍🏻
well done guy's even with Chris's man flu he just gets on with it and that will be a nice truck for someone 👌👍
Again, makes you wonder if when you get your vehicle back from repair is it done properly. Good job guys.
This is why I do everything I possibly can myself!
You fellas come across as a pair of absolute gents. Loving your work 👍
Brilliant repairs done once again guys ,get better soon Chris
Chris fixing any problem again I would love to just half his knowledge such a clever man
Great idea Chris on the stud repair , you two chaps work so well together 👍💪👏👏👏💪🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
yes chris is good at everything
Absolutely fantastic indepth video gentlemen on how to do a job correctly a lot of so called Mechanics watch and learn❤
Chris drill some different size studs on your lathe say 3mm and screw the stud in as far as you can and you can then drill 3mm through the centre and then drill out the broken stud and tap
Wow those vehicles have been Butchered, well done both of you, great work, and worth every penny
excellent video guys chris is a genius proper mechanic
Great content as always would still like see vids on other one. To be honest I'd watch Chris all day made got a talent and eye that just brilliant
Brilliant transparency. With work of this quality you can be confident like these guys.
"Some say, he spends his nights searching for 5-legged hedgehogs to race against the turtle of his arch-rival; and farts a noble gas that is yet to be discovered on the periodic table. All we know is, he's called the Chris."
Hello Rob and Chris, brilliant work done on the van, another one finished and ready to sell.that parts van has been very handy 😊.
What a man Chris is when it comes to finding solutions for problems. He’s an absolute magician. Thoroughly enjoying the videos on the Vans guys great work 👏🏻👍🏻
I know you boys weren't going to do loads of videos on each van, but I'm glad your doing them each there own, love these videos. 👍
Chris the master working his magic. He should consider setting up a local training school teaching people his art.
Very skilled man Chris is this is one off them jobs that scare people and can easily go wrong but he has the skills to pay the bills as they say very enjoyable video
Have really enjoyed these commercial videos! Well done both! Great to see Chris at work - my dad was a precision engineer and was always up to this kind of thing to fix our cars so is wonderful to see!
Impressive repair Chris with the studs, well done
Excellent video!! I greatly admire Chris for his ingenuity! Rob, you shouldn't worry so much about your camera work, you caught everything perfectly. 'Ats off to to both, I learnt a lot from this video💪
Great video, brilliant repair by Chris on the cylinder head manifold stud. I think that's the first time I've seen that done. Top work. 👍
Chris’s craftsmanship saves the day again. Everyone needs someone like him on their team.
Nice bit of engineering there Chris! Your a man after my own heart, there is no greater feeling than the one you get when you achieve a repair like that. Magic stuff boys!! ❤that channel.
