just a comment on the smoke when you started it there is a thing called a air oil separater can be seen at 16:45 the round black thing they can fail and put a lot of oil in to the engin it has a diaphragm in that can fail . as the smoke cleared after a bit it probably isn't a problem but always worth concidering
It’s common for Porsche engines to smoke from cold if they’ve been sitting as you get some oil seepage through the valve stem oil seals, which then sits in the flat cylinders. Probably did it a favour having a bit of extra oil in the cylinders for a will it start. Nice one!
I love how despite having worked on no doubt countless non runners to get them running, you're still excited when they do run. This looks like a lovely little car and maybe one for you or Chris to keep 😀
Large portion of Kudos to you Rob for persevering and hitting the goal of getting it running. a nice detail and that will be a differant motor cant wait to see chris,s face on this one crack on
Alway got to be a bit careful with leaving the pump not 100% torqued down when testing. Not because of the obvious risks but because any EVAP system can throw a hissy that pressures are wrong which then can start to throw out trims etc as you in effect introducing an air leak to the engine. Nice work fellas, a satisfying episode 😊
Hello BOTH, good to know that Chris is having a well earned rest in the sunshine. Hey Rob, you are not the only person who gets excited , here is me bouncing up and down waiting for the engine to start, so it did, and having had a dealership service recently, the engine runs well! After so much effort in checking everything over ROB - including that fuel pump, you deserve to be so pleased with yourself. Best wishes from Lincolnshire.
The blue smoke you noted is often caused by the AOS (air-oil separator) system. I would suggest the diaphragm in the AOS needs replacement due to age and inaction.
Another good videos Rob and Chris and also good to see the Business expanding with the work going on & paint booth etc... it would make for good watching if you and Chris recruited an apprentice; you could both teach them things they would never learn off any other mechanics or classroom
Rob Great video what lovely car, sounds really good so glad you went all the way and got it running. Special purchase that one all the best to you and Chris.
Well done rob you are such a great guy to watch you explain what you are doing you said it was the fual pump and as usual spot on chris would be proud of you when he gets back next holiday is yours rob well done can’t wait for Saturday video 😊
What a result getting in running Rob. Sounds lovely and seems to drive nice too, albeit a few runs up and down the yard. Looking forward to this one. It'll be a gem when you and Chris are finished with it. 👍
You had every right to worry about the smoke. Cars bought "for a good price" are rarely this good, so naturally you go looking for faults. Sometimes Rob you find a little gem, and you certainly have here. You have done enough cars in your life to have a little more confidence in your judgement and like anyone mistakes happen but not that often. Chris should be showering praise on you for this one and with the addition of his magic touch this should be an absolute winner. Cheers, Bob
Good evening Rob, great video and everyone is so pleased for you. I think Chris will be well impressed. Thank you for taking their time to upload another video . Ged.
I wouldn't change the fuel pump. The problem was probably only a stuck brush, or dirt on the commutator from not being used. A new pattern one would not be as good as a genuine, low miles original.
Hi Rob & Chris, now this is an interesting find guys, how about that genuine mileage too..!! Looking forward to the progress of the Porsche..👍👍👍. Alex.
So happy for you Rob. Felt ecstatic with you when it fired up. When it was smoking I thought bore scoring, but that problem was on the 3.4/3.6. But it cleared. Great. Looking forward to the up and coming videos.
After sitting for so long it would have been advisable to pull the plugs and spray some lubricant into the bores to prevent scoring from no oil on the bores or from any corrosion that may have occurred. Just a bit more preventative maintenance, especially with such a low mileage engine.
Great find 👏 👍 will be very interesting to see what products you're going to use especially on the interior to bring her back to her glory 🤞🙏 awesome video and many happy returns to Chris on his birthday 🎂 🎉 , i think he might have wished his birthday trip didn't coincide with wonderful and exciting times, well done Rob 💪👌👍🏅🥇🏆
With such low mileage it will be worth all the effort. Well done Rob for sticking at it and getting it to run. I agree with you on the fuel pump replacement but it was worth putting that old one back in just to hear it run and it sounds sweet. Thanks Rob and Chris for another exciting video on 'will it run'? 👍👍
These will it start videos are fantastic, especially something like a well loved boxster, can't wait to see you iron out all the issues and get it looking spotless again
Well done that man! Lovely to hear the car and see it driving as well. Judging by the state of the steering wheel and the door card there will be an interior clean video as well as a sort the fuel pump, the windows and any other gremlins video. Going to be a great project for the channel and a nice little earner for you and Chris
That's a bit of a result, Rob; getting the car to start & seeing the exhaust fumes disappear! Looking forward to seeing how the car looks ,by the time it's ready to go up for sale! 👍🙂
I wonder if Chris will let you loose again while he has a trip away? One thing for sure, it's a long time since you have had such a smile after a days work on a new project. Well done Rob and I'm looking forward to the progress reports.
Great video guys, I love the sense of excitement when wishing the car to live again. I think its why we love the channel, always varied but never missing the detail!!
Great video love the excitement when you got it started, and what a great little car can’t wait to see how it turns out, I’ll be interested to see the numbers on this one when you’re finished.
Great video. It made me smile when you got excited that it started! That engine sounded sweet. From what I’ve heard, smoke on a cold start can be the air/oil separator. Bit like a crankcase breather. Bit fiddly to change, but not too expensive 👍
What a brilliant 'barn find'! That will clean up really nicely and make a fantastic weekend toy. I've got one but it's a year younger, They are great fun cars!
What a find, lovely to see your enthusiasm it keeps the channel so interesting and entertaining. Great video and amazing channel pretty much somes it up. All the best of luck waiting impatiently for future content 👍
Just thinking last time you came back in the dark Rob (wall)
🤦🏻♂️ lol I’m never going to live that down 👍

This is why we love this channel, seeing Rob get all excited and happy when it starts!
Without doubt one of the best ‘Yessss’ reactions from Rob there !!! Just brilliant 👍👍👍
How you got to that bit already tut tut 👍
@@sruk I heard you shout from here - I'm in Gillingham!
I love the way Rob takes you along for the journey and you feel just as excited as he is when he gives it the “YES!”
I love when Rob gets excited and gets the jump pack out, like a kid at Xmas 🤣 I’d be exactly the same, I don’t possess any patience 😂😂
Rob seems to still have all that schoolboy excitement and enthusiasm that often fades away as men mature.
Couldn't sum him up any planer "kid in a sweet shop" @philtucker1224 😂😂
Same engines can b a pain in the butt!
Chris will be delighted with this runner when he gets back.
As a detailer be careful of that mould everywhere buddy that sort of stuff hospitalised a mate of mine
Once again a magic vlog hearing you scream when engines fire up Rob is gold and why we all love the show. 👍👍👍🦾🦾😂keep up the good work lads.
What a brilliant example Rob! That’s hardly run-in! As they say, “the harder you work the luckier you get” 😊

Air/Oil Separator can cause it too, easy fix for Rob if needed.

Loving the excitement level 🎉🥳 🎉 Don't blame you. What an incredible find. Can't wait to see it clean n fresh! 😊
Take a look at the driveshaft/gearbox oil seals. They are susceptible to drying out and weeping if not used for a long time. Lovely motor.
Great buy Rob and to see you so excited was a gem. Lets see how the Porsche comes out via the rebuild.
Great video love the excitement when you got it started, and what a great little car can’t wait to see how it turns out, I’ll be interested to see the numbers on this one when you’re finished.
