Brilliant watch as usual. This isn't a swipe at rob it's mearly what iv seen,iv learned never ever clean a mouldy interior without a respirator. My good friend when starting his detailing business years ago took on a mouldy interior for a deep clean. He was extremely unwell for a period and had lingering effects to his lungs for quiet a while after. It was diagnosed so there was no question it was the mould. For such a fit and healthy guy it was shocking how it effected him. The spores carry into your lungs. Just a friendly bit of advice, not a criticism whatsoever. Love this content !!
Hi Rob, the rear plastic screen has misted over time. Great product for this is Greygate plastic polish, is used for plastic screens on airplanes but works a treat on a soft top with a plastic window. Also when you take the roof down it might be brittle so half down the roof, get out and flatten the screen in the middle where it folds. Hope bit of advice helps. Great videos as always!!
With all steamer's once up to temp take off all attachments give a couple of squirts on the trigger to get rid of the condensation that builds up while heating up in the hose. Once cleared and no more water is dripping out put back on attachments and go for it, only steam without all the water dripping. Oh and a long thick rubber glove for your free hand as at some point we all forget it is steam coming out that very hot magic wand 😂. Hope that helps
Underneath all that grime is a lovely sports car, and you're bringing it back to life, Rob! Love all the different techniques you're using to bring it up to snuff. Looking forward to what you've got next to recommission it for the road. Keep gettin' involved!
I’ve owned lots of convertibles. Once the roof is clean wash it again with diluted sterilising fluid that you use for baby bottles and it stops the green mold coming back. Always worked for me. 👍
Anyone remember the £1000 Boxster on Wheeler Dealers? Gearbox oil and filter sorted it. They used a special lathe on the brake discs to clean off rust as replacements were supposedly expensive
What a fantastic cleaning video, loved it and yes rob you did try your best , with us detailer we do things differently but get the same results. Well done , see you in the next video.
Rob the tyre was 40 04 so week 40 2004, really enjoyed the Porsche content so far, would love to see some more sporty/slightly different sort of stuff, keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻
Rob, check to see if the roof has a drainage system like a Mazda MX5. These drain pipes can block and the water from the soft top can’t escape and ends up soaking the carpets
tyres are 19 years old, date on the one you pointed at was about 2 inches to the left...reading 4004 which means week 40 of 2004, more than double passed there safe useable life
Hi Rob good to see you on the 986 again ,point yo note when roof in service mode check the water drain membranes each side where the boom on rear lifts up ,as it's like a polystyrene material prone to tearing ,sold lots in my 30yrs on Porsche parts
It’s worth checking the drain holes to make sure they’re clear. There is one located either side behind the seats, if these are blocked water can flood the interior including the ECU under the passenger seat. They’re are the usual ones in the scuttle compartment too.
Cracking job Rob, always happy to have a cleaning video as it always gives lots of ideas and shows what works and what doesn't which is always helpful. I saw a few people on insta giving you a hard time about cleaning videos, don't know what channel they're watching but it's not something you do a lot so no idea what they're on about... Don't listen to the haters. Keep on the grind mate. This things going to be a diamond when it's sorted.
Its far too original and unmessed with to bother doing that. It's a proper late 90s time capsule - so many early Boxsters have had cheap aftermarket clear indicators fitted it's nice to see one as Porsche intended..
Massive thumbs up 👍 In 2001 I had brand new Boxster S - looking back it was bloody brilliant but I just didn’t realise it at the time! I am so jealous looking at this car, it’s a great find and you should enjoy it (even if it is an Auto and not an ‘S’!)
Please please please use an antimicrobial spray to kill tje mould before blasting it into your lungs with steam. Great video.. i specialise in mould and structural drying. Thanks guys be safe
Amazing job Rob. Hope you checked all the drainage channels were clear before too much pressure washer action. Can get inside if it floods and kill the ecu under the seat.
super satisfying to watch you cleanup something so disgusting! got to admit I was a bit worried about you going anywhere near that mouldy steering wheel
Looking very good, the car that is. The steam cleaner is a game changer when it comes to cleaning and killing germs, however if you are like a lot of us guys who don't read instructions there are a few tips for your steam cleaner that I have learned through trial and error. Do not store it with water in the tank. Rinse the tank after every couple of uses. this prevents the buildup of limescale, which will block the pipes in time. Do not use the steam cleaner on painted surfaces on a car. that is a good way to ruin the paint job. I found out the hard way. I found that mixing clear vinegar with the water helps to remove stained carpets. Doesn't smell very pleasant, but you can go over it with a better smelling product. Rinse the steam cleaner after using the vinegar.
Hello Rob and Chris, what a transformation, looks brand new after the cleaning was completed especially under the wheel arches. Thank you for taking the time to share this video. Ged.
On soft tops I have got on very well with a product called Fabsil - it is a waterproofer easy to apply and works well. Just wash roof first then allow to dry before applying Fabsil with a paintbrush. Fabsil is a tent waterproofer.
Rob , for the leather sofas in various banbuses that had never been properly cleaned I always used ' flash with bleach' and a scotchbright immediately washed off with warm water then immediately fed with a leather balm , always gave fantastic results with a little elbow grease
Wow that is looking a lot better already. I was a bit doubtful about the roof in some places but it has come up well, That new steamer is a game changer Rob, brilliant. I think the seats will be fine once they have been treated, may even hide those patches when they are fed. Well done Rob, all your hard work will pay off I am sure. 👍👍
Hi Rob and Chris, what a speedy transformation of this Porsche eh. The products make such a difference, along with the steamer. Enjoyed the video as always. Alex
I've just put a Jennychem order in. Looking forward to giving my wheel arches a good blast 👍👍! Been using another product with reasonable results but this looks amazing!
Rob , door cards needed apc and steam but without the mop head on. Fabsil painted on the roof .Have used many products over the years , and autosmart g101 really does take some beating as a great allrounder and more cost effective than it’s competitors , also “brisk” is a great cleaner for mould .
Come out immaculate, Shoe brush for the leather cleaning using a mild cleaner. And get your self a tornado blaster. The steam cleaner is good for cleaning the carpets also.
Agree, really important, if they're plugged water will find it's way into ECU etc, check under the seats, footwell etc an under covers left and right of the battery
Now it's had a wash, and the interior cleaned, it looks every bit the low miler it is. I have a steam cleaner and they really make a difference on lifting dirt and helping to sanitise. Great work. 👍
Fantastic video. Jennychem are second to none for cleaning chemicals. Recently bought their tar and glue remover and it’s done a fantastic job. Looking forward to future videos. 👍🏻
Rob the first part of the service I'd do a gear box filters and oil change the boxsters do suffer from it my son had one and he had a problem withe it took it to one guy who said he needed a new box but an other guy took it serviced the box and made a new car of it I'd can't wait to it goes up for sale I'd love that little motor 👍
Yeh good results there, now a bit of protection on all material surfaces to bring back their shine or Matt finish, eh re the disks, I wouldn’t be too quick to change OE disks, reface and keep rather than aftermarket ones I would think?? Good vid tho Rob.
Nice work. This is going to work out well. It started 1st time , a good omem. Possibly a simpler job than we all anticipated. Remarkable engineering from Germany.
Be careful with a steam cleaner, the heat can break the adhesion of the glue that holds the vinyl or leather to door card etc. I know this has no headliner, but they can be bad after a steam clean.
great job Rob,,thats really looking the business,,no complaints this end re watching you clean, surely its all part of the process isnt it,and you dont do that many to warrent people posting narky comments dont watch the video if its not your thing,,👍👌
Great video Rob but it is always good practice to condition leather after steam cleaning as the steam removes the natural oils and protection from the leather
Great result from the hard work Rob. I would have been happier with you wearing a mask while doing the steaming though. That mould is nasty stuff. Looking forward to seeing how this one comes out
This is going to be an amazing car for someone when it is finished lads...I recently saw the red mk3 fiesta yous had at the Scottish performance car show...what a beauty of a motor that was...have a good weekend to yous both.
Only thing to watch with the Boxster roof is to make sure the drain holes are not blocked, if they are it floods under the passenger seat and damages the immobilizer
There are chlorine bomb products you can buy to fumigate a 'stale' cabin and they also sanitise as well. Just be sure to leave all the vents open. I have used with success. Also helps with cigarette odour 🇦🇺
I love those Porches they look small but mighty like the old school speedster. Watching it get shiny and clean is great. Might have to road test it along the coastal road. Thanks for sharing
Rob , autosmart g101 and a detailing brush for door cards n steering wheel, take the head off the steamer and use a few microfibre cloths as u do the doors , dash n trims with the steamer , all ure doing is spreading the germs from the steamer head all over the place , p.s just an observation . Love the channel, keep up the good work
This car is coming out fantastc.I am amazed that you haven't removed both seats inorder to give them a good clean and creat more space inside for cleaning purposes too.
If there stubborn stains that won't come off by using chemicals, there are Silicone scrubbing brushes available that tat off the grime without scratching the panel. 🤓🤓
I had a 2.7 that the DMU under passenger seat was damaged (wet) make sure the drains are clear under the roof and in the front scuttle or they over flow into the cabin !!! I managed to solve the issue by having the dmu cloned .. also the roof switch ok the roof is a pain worth 10 mins with a soldering iron .. rear windows also crack if plastic have gone through 2
Definitely looking like a potential concours contender after its initial clean. Cant be many early Boxsters left like this one will turn out like! What a peach! 😊👍👍
Watching with interest as I've an identical 98 model. Probably be worth taking out the front arch liners, admittedly mine has done 80k but rust was starting where the liners rest against the upturned edges of the arch (rust just creeping round onto visible side) and behind the front wheel/ just in front of the door jam. Rust also starting near all four jacking points due to the inevitable damage to the paint when jacking. Also worth removing the small plastic trims in front of each rear wheel, they are a dirt/rust trap. The metalwork is decent quality though so even if the paint and galvanisation has failed its unlikely to be holed.
And now it starts to be a Posh Porsh!! Nice bit of cleaning Rob, but I am not impressed with the Karcher. I hope the pressure washers are better as I have just ordered one. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Bob

Wise comment.
Especially with the steam you should have a mask on in the interior. The mold spores will be having a party in your lungs

I do this for a living working alone, its not easy running a business and making RUclips videos. Rob & Chris need answer to anybody! epic channel guys
I think steam can cause more harm than it solves. It causes glue to unstick behind trims and fragile foams weren't designed for the huge heat..
Definitely should be used with caution, but isn't this one a case where nothing else was an option?
Underneath all that grime is a lovely sports car, and you're bringing it back to life, Rob! Love all the different techniques you're using to bring it up to snuff. Looking forward to what you've got next to recommission it for the road. Keep gettin' involved!
Catching up.... love how rob gets excited everytime engine starts

Put two on the back and rag and smoke til they're smooth.
That tyre's date code was 4004 - so made in the 40th week of 2004
Hi Rob good to see you on the 986 again ,point yo note when roof in service mode check the water drain membranes each side where the boom on rear lifts up ,as it's like a polystyrene material prone to tearing ,sold lots in my 30yrs on Porsche parts
Robs getting this done for Claire's new hair dressing car 🚗🚗🚗

What haters
Real down to earth video Rob , car detailing is so important and the effort and the results you achieved here is great .... well done 👏
Rob, if you replace the orange indicator lenses with clear replacements, it lifts the car massively and does not cost much.
Its far too original and unmessed with to bother doing that. It's a proper late 90s time capsule - so many early Boxsters have had cheap aftermarket clear indicators fitted it's nice to see one as Porsche intended..

I use Renovo ultra proofer on our soft top once it is clean. 20 years on and it's still looking good.
Rob, get some renovo plastic window restorer on the rear screen, brings them up a treat!
Hey guys don't forget to send the spare tire off to the shop to be checked and or replaced
super satisfying to watch you cleanup something so disgusting! got to admit I was a bit worried about you going anywhere near that mouldy steering wheel

Tiny tip when just before you wash it by hand chuck ya jet wash i the bucket and agitate it to a heavy foam 👍🏻

Be Good to put a Ozone generator in there for a few hours to kill all the hidden bacteria and mold spores. Well done great result.

Car cleaning to the max. And a nice demonstration of karcher's endless range of very specific machines
Wow that is looking a lot better already. I was a bit doubtful about the roof in some places but it has come up well, That new steamer is a game changer Rob, brilliant. Love watching this little beauty coming back to life. Nice work again Rob and Chris 👌
Hi Rob and Chris, what a speedy transformation of this Porsche eh. The products make such a difference, along with the steamer. Enjoyed the video as always. Alex
This is one beautiful low mileage car, it is cleaning up really well.
I’m looking forward to more content on it❤.

I bet it was so satisfying cleaning that interior as always a good watch
Dr. Leather cleaning wipes are the best product I have ever used, they leave a factory fresh matt finish, and really easy to use.
Love a good cleaning vid when you can see such a transformation! Came out lovely, that steamer is epic
Sonax alcantara spray worked wonders on my Mazda 3 Rob.
Looking good guys, just cleaning the mouldy areas made a massive difference 👏🏼
That's turning out lovely with a bit of love and attention you're giving it 🙂 can't beat a good ol' cleaning vid from time to time 👍🏻
Rob the first part of the service I'd do a gear box filters and oil change the boxsters do suffer from it my son had one and he had a problem withe it took it to one guy who said he needed a new box but an other guy took it serviced the box and made a new car of it I'd can't wait to it goes up for sale I'd love that little motor 👍

dont watch the video if its not your thing,,👍👌
What a transformation, silk purse out of a sows ear springs to mind, great job Rob.
The cleaning is low tech’ , but so essential. Very satisfying as well as the results reveal themselves. 👍
great job Rob, looking forward to see this one back on the road.
Great job Rob may suggest if you clean the inside first the floor around the car is dry and you can neal down and not get wet from the out side.
When finished, that car would do well in a classic car auction. You can put a reserve on it.
Great video Rob but it is always good practice to condition leather after steam cleaning as the steam removes the natural oils and protection from the leather
The Hand Grenade .
hope the soft top drains are clear
find the dot code on tyre sidewall for example dot 2110 thats 21 week of 2010 it was made hope that helps
Great result from the hard work Rob. I would have been happier with you wearing a mask while doing the steaming though. That mould is nasty stuff.
Looking forward to seeing how this one comes out

Good advice John!
This car is coming out fantastc.I am amazed that you haven't removed both seats inorder to give them a good clean and creat more space inside for cleaning purposes too.
Tent sealant works a treat on the canvas tops.
That’s coming up a treat. Under all that dirt is a solid Boxster. Enjoyed the vid
If there stubborn stains that won't come off by using chemicals, there are Silicone scrubbing brushes available that tat off the grime without scratching the panel. 🤓🤓
ALREADY, that is SOME, SERIOUS transformation, Rob!! Looking forward to seeing the end result!! 👍🙂
Looks amazing Rob. You've given an old gal a new lease in life.
You go to such detail I'm Surprised you haven't taken the door cards off and taken the seats out lads.
Don't forget to clean the drain holes under the soft top as can flood the inside, and soak the carpet and even the under passenger control box !!!
soap water and cosmetic make up brash works nice 90 percent inside outside...with some tlc
Top stuff loving the finish and rob keep that block handy game changer
Mate forget the haters keep the videos coming you both have a massive following.👍
What haters
Nothing like a good snow foam, the windows and horn uses to work before the karcher action lol , seriously nice content though 👌
The drain holes will more than likely be blocked make sure you give them a clean 👍
Hello Rob, brilliant work done in the Porsche Boxster, the exterior of has come up a treat with the moss and stuff on it it will soon like new again.
That’s come up beautifully Rob. That is one nice motor.
Wow the car is looking great, and the new tools are fantastic makes the job easer.
That's going to be a beautiful car Rob. Can't wait till you start on the mechanicals. 😎👍
Brilliant well done rob looks a million dollars compared to what it was few hours ago such a difference 👍🏽👍🏽
I had a 2.7 that the DMU under passenger seat was damaged (wet) make sure the drains are clear under the roof and in the front scuttle or they over flow into the cabin !!! Just came across your channel a few days ago. I've Binge watched quite a few of your videos absolutely quality content well done Guys 👍🏻
Nice job mate, I used to enjoy giving my company motors a good clean after a hard week on the road. Pressure Washer is essential 👍🇬🇧✔️
I am surprised at how well the interior has come up as i thought it was going to have to be replaced with all that mould on it, Nice job
Great work Rob, always a pleasure watching your work
Don't forget to clean out the drain holes in the front and rear scuttles!
