my personal favorite "conspiracy theory" is that they hired Kubrick to direct the moon landings-- but he was such a perfectionist he demanded they shoot on location.
Bwahahahaha! Sounds like something Kubrick would do!
Nice
TESTIFY!
Oh that's GOOD. I'm using that next time someone comes out with some old nonsense about the moon landing.
Actually, Kubrick was well known for rarely leaving England; even Full Metal Jacket, which is set in South Carolina and Vietnam were shot in Cambridge and along the River Thames using thousands of imported palm trees and other tropical plants. If Kubrick did fake the moon landing, it would be because he demanded actually parts of the moon be brought to central England for the shoot!
My grandfather was one of those asbestos "conspiracy theorists", except because he worked in construction someone had to use the stuff to finish the job. Despite there being no proof that Asbestos was harmful at the time many of the workers didn't trust the stuff. Under the union rules the company couldn't force anyone to use the asbestos, so they offered bonuses to those who did. My grandfather never took the bonuses, but his brother practically always did. His bother died in his 40's of asbestos related ailments, while my grandfather outlived everyone else in his generation in the family (including his wife) living to the age of 93.
There is evidence that the dangers of asbestos have been known since antiquity. The Greeks had noted that men who mined asbestos contracted a far more fatal form of miners' lung than any other type of miner.
Blessed with wisdom, I am glad to hear He lived, what's considered a long life
Smart man, it's crazy to live to 93, I'm sure he made a lot of good decisions to do it and it showed
Listen to yourself. You're the expert you need.
You're lucky. My grandfather on my dad's side died when he was 52. He'd worked as a plumber all his adult life, and because it was around the time that Asbestos was starting to get removed from use, many houses still had it in their walls. He'd developed mesothelioma and died quickly when I was 9.
So the gay detector not only managed to detect people who are aroused by porn, but also people who are repulsed by porn? Congratulations Canada, you found a a machine that can detect if it displays porn.
It's essentially a polygraph.
Idk why Simon was surprised they linked Commies and gays, now the commies are openly gay. Perhaps the fluoride RUclips now has ads from the government saying is in the tap and good for you did it like with the frogs. He brings up Jones a lot but not that he's just reading research papers for "his" theories.
As for the "demon" bits the Bible is very clear it's writers believe there are extra-dimensional beings and dozens of different types all non-terrestrial, so alien. Can't really blame Jones for inventing Judaism?
Even if you could his religious beliefs have nothing to do with the validity of the documents he's reading.

@@worldcomicsreview354 you’re not aroused by smells? Weird. But why are you telling someone who isn’t into anything? I guess they would understand to a point?
I'm pretty sure Simon embodies our collective hyper focus and ADHD obsession with learning sometimes. He just found a hack to get paid for it and to pay people to do the research for him.
You’re not wrong necessarily… but I’m thinking Simon really just likes money 😂
a lot of big youtube channels with decent production were funded from the start by established media companies. I wouldn't be surprised if Simon really worked for the BBC or something. Conspiracy or Fact?
The ADHD/Aspe side is one of the reasons I got into infosec. You’re still trying to protect against the same types of attackers, but the methods for exploitation, and detection, are constantly shifting (often within the same 24 window). It’s a cycle of constant learning and always being used be or more steps behind our adversaries. Stressful and fun!

My daughter and I talked on the phone today and, because we lived in both China and Kazakhstan for years and had already been specifically informed by govt officials there that they would be monitoring all our communications, we still say hello to our potential 'monitors', telling them they're better listeners than some men we've had relationships with, etc.
I suppose that's one way to cope with dystopia.
Actually telling you that's what they're doing seems ironically polite
You're too nice. I live in one of the two (not telling which one, but you might be able to guess from the rest of the comment), and my father and sister used to be members of the local Communist Party, and then worked with the govt on some sensitive issues (don't ask me, I never had the clearance), and out landline was monitored all the time, and in a very obvious way -- it sounded pretty much the same as when someone picked up the other phone on the same line. I used to deliberately start talking about anime, games, etc. gore and yaoi with explicit details, and more than a few times the echo disappeared pretty quickly 🤣
@@kaworunagisa4009 That... is hilarious 😂 And a bit of a flaw in their system if you just need to yuck out the operator before talking about important stuff 😅
@@EterPuralis I thought so too! It was when we got to Kazakhstan--we went to the embassy for paperwork, and they just 'openly informed us' that both their country and the US were both monitoring everything, even when we'd leave the country. I wasn't remotely shocked they were watching, but that they'd be so upfront about it almost felt like an intentional dig at our own home govt who never paid us that courtesy. :)
I agree with one thing you're saying here. I first observed in the '90s, that crazy conspiracy theories are the perfect cover for real conspiracies.
As a Canadian I was royally pissed when I found out that when we banned asbestos and asbestos tainted products the government supported the production of it to go into buildings in other countries that hadn't. Most of us had no idea that we had an asbestos industry outside of science supply and aerospace research. To us it was like this old fashioned thing like fluoroscopes and lead house paint.
Yeah asbestos is still used all the time but just less so for like residential insulation except for like in fireplaces
Blame Canada...
(Is there a song about that?)
EDIT: ^The song-thing's a Southpark joke... I like Canada
Asbestos comes from Quebec, they make up their own rules.
@@atodaso1668 Actually it was the federal government that sanctioned it. Hell they even promoted it internationally. Quebec does things differently and has a powerful voting base but they still are under federal jurisdiction when it come to the ban.
But Quebec Politics does play into the production continuing past the ban.

I have always been pro donate body to science/ organ donor as I feel medical research and helping others is important and our body is just a meat sack. Therefor, I was shocked at my own visceral response when my baby was born dead - I didn't even want an autopsy, much less donating her body for research. In the moment, all I could think was "she's been through enough". My doctor did say that autopsy probably wouldn't show anything and since genetic tests had been good, no useful information for future pregnancies would likely be found, and that if we could see into the womb during pregnancy, we'd be shocked that any baby came out alive. I regret I wasn't strong enough to allow her death to be of some use, but at the time it was out of the question. My heart breaks for those families whose children were used without their permission.
Dont worry about it, honey. You were emotional, full of hormones and in the middle of crisis, its hard to be able to think critically, if not impossible. You did the best you could, nobody can ask any more than that. Hindsight is always perfect. And Im so very sorry for your loss, I hope youve found some piece of mind. Greetings from another registered organ donor :)
My friend, no one can blame you for that, you and your family gone through the some of the worst stuff a person can live through. And you are a good person for thinking this way but that's your decision (of parents) no one else's.
I wish you the best, I hope you and your family reach your goals and happiness. I can't give you a proper advice or anything, just good wishes. Stay safe brother.
So very very sorry for your loss. Noone knows what they would really do in such a horrible situation until it happens. Sending love
(too much...)
You have quite the romantic, noble idea of donation. They are used as crash test dummies, testing how strong the bottom of a hummer must be to protect people from explosions. I believe these are equally important. I’ve heard about people who lost it when they found out their dearly departed was used for bomb testing. I think that’s weird. Knowing this I don’t think your reaction was wrong AT ALL. I’m sorry that, in addition to your loss, you’ve added your own condemnation of your actions

Asbestos and lead are no joke. I live like 30 minutes north of NYC and was 11 when 9/11 happened, a lot of parents worked in the city and I knew a few firefighters that died that day. The sad part is all the volunteers and construction workers that went down for the rescue and cleanup and decades later so many of them have either died or are suffering from some nasty stuff. I’m a contractor and can guarantee every house built before the 1970’s ( and possibly later) is filled with asbestos and lead paint and siding and pipes.
You’re right, but so is Simon. Asbestos is safe if it’s used properly, it’s still incredibly useful in certain applications.
And yet there are people who think lead isn't harmful. They think it is a lie from the government to get rid of lead paint. Why you ask? Well that's obvious. They made lead paint illegal not long before all the tech devices and stuff that use radiation started coming out. And the lead paint blocks and protects from this harmful radiation. And the government couldn't have that.
I'm not kidding at all. There really are people that believe this. And far more of them then you'd think. A lot of them are flat earthers and anti vaxxers too. Guess if you're dumb enough to fall for one, you're dumb enough to fall for them all.
My grandfather was an electrician and was exposed to asbestos, he eventually passed away from complcations related to that.
My dad was a dentist. In dentistry mercury were often used in fillings before 1990 or so (and not too uncommonly a long time after that aswell), which of course is a poison. But the thing is, as long as that mercury remains stuck in people's teeth it doesn't do any harm. People often wanted him to replace their old mercury fillings with modern plastic fillings, and he often did so, but also often not. And what made the difference was if there was something wrong with their fillings in the first place but more importantly wether that by doing this procedure his patients would risk to be exposed to more mercury and potential mercury poisoning than if the mercury had just been left alone inside their fillings.
I "visited" an abandoned nuclear missile silo (I guess we had ICBMs in pastures in the 60s and 70s?). Anyway, it had been stripped pretty bare and had rusty water but we found where they giant area where they moved parts around. The dust there was so nasty it chased us out within an hour even wearing flight suits. Super itchy. I found a small pile of disintigrating MSDS. They listed Asbestos as a "mild lung irritant" in 1974. Then my dad said if I went again I should probably bring a geiger counter because back then they weren't as careful about shielding from radiation. Oops. It was super fun tho. Been over 30 years and I don't have any ill effects. Yet.

I've always thought the negative connotations associated with the term "conspiracy theory" were manufactured as a way to discredit the legitimacy of any real secrets. I came to this belief on my own, prior to ever seeing the idea elsewhere- considering I'm not a genius, it's extremely unlikely that someone in the collective government never thought of doing it. Look at the misinformation campaigns that are being/have been run everywhere in the world and the "complexity" it would take to execute is very plausible
A lot of these conspiracies are also the root of most of humanities issues….. like MKULTRA
You are correct I have spoken to SRA survivors that told me the therapist that stared Satanic panic was paid to do those things to discredit SRA survivors. So they created a fake victim to discredit all victims. Sounds pretty demonic to me so why wouldn’t we question if this could be true for more things. They did the same things to the Epstein survivors too.
Government PROPAGANDA ABUNDANT but as soon as someone is onto one of their SCHEMES they're LABELED a conspiracy theorist to discredit them. Then they toss out some ACTUAL crazy theories to give the term more teeth so people become dismissive of talk about ACTUAL SCHEMES
Truth and facts
That is literally what happened in 1967, CIA didn't invent the term conspiracy theorist, but they did try to weaponize it.
05:20 for when the theories start getting discussed 👍🏽
A good way to sift through conspiracy theories:
1. Theoretically could someone/something do that within our scientific understanding and technology etc(with a small amount of wiggle room for new/kept hidden discoveries)
2. Practically would they have the resources, manpower, loyalty, organisation, influence etc to actually do what's being suggested
3. Is there some sort motivation that would make sense for them to both have and follow through with in this manner
4. What evidence is provided for and against, what kind of relation do the sources have to the subject of the theory, is there a potential ulterior motive to their providing of evidence such as finance or bias towards certain people/things
And remember, be curious with healthy dose of scepticism, and don't forget to evaluate and adapt as necessary when/if evidence changes.
Also remember almost all ""them"", one world government, cabals, etc are just antisemitism
Awful advice
Frankly, I've found Occam's Razor to have fairly reliable and practical application in such things...
In the reality as we have it, 90% of real conspiracies HISTORICALLY RECORDED actually began with the "Bureaucratic Ass-covering" and spiraled out of control through ever growing masses of lies. ;o)
5.Upon potential discovery, how much effort would be required to 'plausibly deny' compared to the cost of the backlash.
....example....
The bulgaian umbrella attack was far from an isolated assassination.
How many victims of the kgb were killed where their murders were not investigated?
....example....
the UNIBOMBER claimed for years that he had been drugged by the CIA
his claims later proved to be part of various drugging experiments by the U.S.govt.
...example...
the bombing of Rainbow Warrior
the French govt.were only exposed because of the resourcefulness of the NZ,UK,AUS Govt.investigation.
(Psst,the word is skeptic,never trust spellcheck😸)
5. Are the people responsible specifically named or is it "they" or "them"? They and them never actually exist.
I remember asbestos was found in our school, it was common when the school was built. It was said to be fine as long as it's not disturbed, which is fine to say, but it's a school! We used to lift the ceiling tiles up in some rooms, other rooms leaked, and at the time generally over subscribed, so lots of pupils. I'm sure it was mostly OK, but it's a bit worrying.
I worked at a school in Japan that still had it in the ceiling tiles up until about seven years ago. They used to check them every year to see if they were still stable and whatnot. I guess they finally got the money to replace them, so they did that job when they put the first AC units in the school. Why no AC units? Well up until then they hadn't needed them, but given that kids and teachers were getting heat stroke ETC due to first of their kind record high temps, they had to put them in. They did that district wide. Summer school life got a lot better after that. 🙂
Always thought it was funny that they say to not disturb it, then they disturb all of it all at the same time removing it.
I had to sign a waiver when I worked in a government building that had asbestos in the floor tiles. I was told it was a small enough amount that any ill effects were unlikely, they were legally required to disclose it was there, and it was on a surface that people walked on daily, microscopic bits could be "eroded" and might cause harm over extended periods of time. A study was done, and removing the tiles would have exposed more people to greater amounts for a longer period than just leaving it in place.

Or one of those key rings saying “ALLEGEDLY” in his store. That way when anyone says a conspiracy theory you could just press it, “ALLEGEDLY”😂😂
@@kimberleyjanemcnab5343 yesssss
Once upon a time I used my phone to pay for debit. It had RUclips open with Simon on the screen. The fella said "is that the top tenz guy?" I said yup.... then walking to the car I knew it, I should have said "allegedly..." 😆 always think about it after the fact
Maybe a thermochromatic coffee cup would work. Just pour in your favourite hot drink for that word to become visible.🥸
10hours would not be enough 🤣
My grandma literally died this year of Asbestos cancer. They calculated how and what and it traced back to the one renovation they had done to the house or restaurant they owned. Never would've come into contact with it if not for that renovation.
My grandmother on my mothers side was present when a house with asbestos isulation was being torn down. She was not wearing any breathing protection
30 years later she passed away from pulminary fibrosis, an uncurable lung condition. Never having smoked a day in her life
From all acconts she was a wonderful woman. It's is a shame I never got the chance to know her.
In the late 1990's I noticed a door open in our school I assumed went to the attic or roof here in America with quite a lot of plastic layers. I managed to ask just the right person, eventually, why and found out they were removing the asbestos from the attic. They were replacing it with something else to keep the school warm. This is why I never assume some place is asbestos free if it looks at all old enough.
They did that a couple years ago in a school here and during the construction classes were held in containers on the school yard
My school had asbestos in the ceiling too. It was removed around 2007. It was built in the late 1970s.
They burnt our school down that had asbestos
Same in edmonton
"Maybe we should make a video on why Canada's a piece of shit." 😂😂😂 Wow, that one caught me off guard 😂
Honestly, I feel like "detached from reality" is a good way to phrase it. There are people who are completely sane and rational but believe completely ridiculous ideas.
Hence Brexit. 😶🌫️
“Trickle down economy,” is a pretty big one requiring the total and absolute suspension of rational skepticism. No modern economist could pull off a scam like this using modern data
There is also a thing that is the complete opposite: disillusionment. The person the through the true nature of things. The line between the two is very thin.
"detached from reality"
oh looky, theres one right now -> @@davidripley2916
Detached from reality is a misnomer. Those people are actively at war with it.
The worst thing is working at a restaurant when a diesel vehicle comes through the drive-through. As the vehicle idles, the back of the restaurant fills with fumes, and we have to live with it until the vehicle leaves. Not good for the workers or the food but I've found that people driving larger, louder, smellier vehicles don't tend to care about the pee-ons, which are basically anyone outside of the driver's seat.
Shoutout to all the Peters of the world now living in fear of a $1.5bn lawsuit brought by Simon Whistler
Got my tin foil hat ready for this one! Are we about to find out Simon is a lizard person?
It would explain why he so strongly believes he can be frozen to extend his life.
Even if he doesn’t say it, we all know the truth…
He's an amphibian person. It's rude to call an amphibian person a lizard person. It just shows ignorance about their culture.
I am wondering if Carbon composites are going to be the Asbestos of my generation. Between the nightmare fuel that the epoxies are themselves, the idea that small fragments of carbon fiber composites are airborne when grinding or sanding operations happen just sends chills down my spine. Add in that in consumer products there are no warnings about that so I have seen people cutting, grinding and sanding on Carbon Fiber stuff without a thought.
considering your entire body is already made up of massive amounts of carbon... i seriously doubt it. i've read multiple studies of fibrous carbon sheeting dust analysis and you are entirely wrong. the glue is the worst part of carbon fiber manufacturing.
we've been using it not quite as long as asbestos was used... but after black lung disease from coal mining and coal dust manufacturing processes for chemical usage, meso with asbestos, silicosis of the lungs from quarry work making big rocks littler or mining sand or mining salt, lye burns of the mucosal membranes eyes and skin producing potash and industrial lye for chemical plants or household use, and the worst one of all... POWDERED QUICK-SET concrete factories not following proper dust mist and moisture control procedures are WORLDWIDE producing a hardening 'cloud' of breathable agents that yes... TURNS YOUR LUNGS INTO CONCRETE BLOCKS OVER MULTIPLE YEARS!!! this one is entirely and utterly untreatable unless the ENTIRE lung is removed and transplanted with a new one. unlike COPD or meso which SOMETIMES both respond to treatments... concrete lung disorder is totally incurable.
the only things i've ever read about manufacturing with carbon fiber sheets is...
1 standard wrap-around safety glasses prevent micro-fibers from injuring the eyes.
2 light weight dust masks just like woodworkers cutting and sanding factory made furniture keep those carbon-microfibers from irritating the nostrils and sinuses.
3 tightly woven gloves to prevent the sheets of trimmed fiber from cutting the skin and micro-fibers from getting embedded in the skin and causing repeated painful 'prickles' and a rash.
4 just like with fiberglass workers, those using the epoxy binders and glue need proper ventilation and respirators/rebreathers to prevent fume inhalation.
A buddy of mine who owned an asbestos abatement company, died from mesothelioma at the age of 39. BTW I AM Canadian. The town in Quebec were they mined asbestos was called Asbestos. They changed the name in 2020 to Val-des-Sources

Love it!
The tangents are brilliant
I worked security for a few years at an old people's home and they had asbestos flooring in their auditorium area where everybody also ate lunch, And they decided to take the flooring out, so the company that did it sealed the entire room off. It looked like the CDC was quarantining an area because it got contaminated with marburg or something
I know we give Simon a lot of guff for his tangents, but honestly they're enjoyable.

@@johnrhodes3350 my dad always used that phrase interchangeably with the word "flak" sometimes standing in for the word "guff" in the phrase but I looked it up and it's actually correctly spoken (or typed in this case) and used appropriately for the idea which it's trying to convey so your criticism is incorrect here..
Jussayin ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I know this was six months ago, but it's basically impossible to fully separate asbestos from talc and the industry currently polices itself and tests such minuscule amounts that it's basically testing for nothing. Which means any makeup with talc in it (which is a lot), or actual talcum powder (although most of these have now been pulled), can potentially cause mesothelioma. It's still a big problem. Plus in the US we have a lot of old buildings where it's still around. Both my grade school and high school had it still.
I just want to thank Simon & the crew for using the term ”Nordic” instead of the standard ”Scandinavia” most English speakers use incorrectly when including Finland. Cheers from Finland!
You don’t consider yourself Scandinavian?
@@xyz7572 it doesn’t matter whether I consider or not, Finland is not part of the Scandinavian peninsula. You could argue about a small north-western part of Finland, but the most of the country is not. If you want to include Finland with Scandinavian countries, the correct term is Fennoscandia 😊 and if you say ”Nordic”, then it includes Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Denmark), Finland and Iceland.
Today I found out in the comments

Mercury tooth fillings! After many dentists refused to remove mine, a “holistic dentist” did, and told me the American dental association owns the patent for those filling materials and forces all their members to lie and poison people! I recovered from several low level issues after I removed them.
Many of the groups that campaigned to get alcohol illegal in the US ended up campaigning to make it legal again. They had not considered human nature and the black market. The organized crime which prohibition caused horrified them into the change.

Hey! I really enjoy most of the content Simon ends up reading! Just a personal opinion about the presentation: I like when Simon has the script physically with him on a tablet. It makes it a bit easier to tell when he is reading from the script and when he is adding some reaction of his own. Feel a bit more like we are experiencing the script together for some reason. Just an opinion! Thanks for the great stories!
I agree
It's not even surprising anymore that all govts and corporations lie, what's surprising is how we all just accept it!
Ahh, asbestos In the mid 80s, while playing kickball in gym, it was considered a home run if you kicked the ball so hard it hit the ceiling, making it "snow". 4 years later my sister started elementary school and informed me that they had put plastic up over the ceiling and now hitting the ceiling with the ball was an automatic out to discourage kids from doing so. Also, the gymnasium was above the music room, so while the gym class was running laps like a herd of elephants, we were filling our lungs with air to sing whilst the white powder from the ceiling tiles was knocked loose and sat suspended in the air. I count myself lucky I only, so far, developed asthma in high school.
My mom talked about walking past the boilers to get to the bathroom in elementary school. It was the 1960s and yes the kids would reach out and touch the asbestos.
Also, Rocky and Bullwinkle had at least one episode with Bullwinkle using asbestos oven mitts.
@@christinebenson518 My aunt had a oven mitts, and she used them regularly.
You have a thousand things wrong with you huh ?
With any government nothing surprises me anymore about their shenanigans
I worked in a plastic blowfilm factory in the late 70's, we used asbestos gloves for handling hot plastic and/or machine parts. Whenever we got a new pair there would be a cloud of choking dust rising from the box. My dad died from emphysema, the inquest determined he'd contracted it from the shower pipe lagging at his coal mine. But for two years before becoming a miner (at16) he'd worked in a tank factory and IIRC asbestos powder was used in their manufacture.
I grew up in the 70's. As a small child , I wore asbestos pajamas. Also, went to school until the mid 80's in schools with asbestos. I think it was 84, 85, or 86, when they got around to removing it.
My biggest advice is pay attention to what opposing parties shout the loudest that are conspiracy theories those ones specifically have a ring of truth to them they only act defensive if it’s partially true

Prohibition was supposed to save Americans' souls. Instead it incentivized the organization of crime syndicates, which we're still dealing with today. Good job, temperance movement.
Social conservatives are ALWAYS on the wrong side of history on every subject. They haven't learned in over 10,000 years... Not one social conservative cause hasn't died on the ash heap of history with the current ppl pushing it ending up pariahs.. and rightly so.
Don't forget it also promoted dishonesty and hypocrisy from even its loudest supporters.
New title "Simon gets stoned AF and talks about conspiracies" !
allegedly stone AF
I want more conspiracy theories. The recent ones keep coming true.
Conspiracy comes from the Latin root word conspira which means agreed to be true. Theory is just a set of beliefs to explain how something is true.. fun fact if you get charged with “conspiracy” in court that means they have the evidence against you;)
read Science text - if applied correctly, every find in Science is ONLY a theory that can get scrapped any time if something else - that explains the phenomenon better - comes along
Conspiracy theories are just future facts.

Actually for Hiroshima and Nagasaki the US has ‘generously’ sent doctors to help the survivors. I learned that while visiting the nuclear bomb museum in Hiroshima. It’s also interesting to note that Hiroshima and Nagasaki w s mostly filled with civilians while there was a toxic gas factory on the island of Okunoshila that was right across the bay of Hiroshima.
The "snow" in "The Wizard of Oz" was asbestos.
Unfortunately for everyone, Alex Jones has a frightenly high accuracy rate. If a psychic had the same rate of accuracy, he or she would be Biblical.
Honestly at this point I need new "conspiracy Theories" because all my old ones came true
The only conspiracy theory I believe is that McDonald's purposefully buys bad ice cream machines so that the company can come and fix them and charge more money to the store. Since McDonald's is a franchise, the individual stores are owned by people outside the company who pay a fee to use McDonald's food and branding. Forcing them to fix faulty machines using McDonald's staff would make the head company more money off of the franchise owners.
