Free idea: Simon Whistler isn’t real, he’s a completely digital character. Think about it, It’s impossible for one person to appear on so many RUclips channels with such a regular release schedule. His appearance and voice were chosen by Sam and Danny based on popular trends.

Sorry for the Ancient Rome conspiracy. I was arguing with anti-deluge atheists pointing out the just because Romans are mentioned in the Bible doesn't mean they didn't exist so who cares if there was a flood in the Bible as it diesn't prove God exists or not so face reality and admit that the geological evidence such as cross bedding and non decomposed fossils in sedimentry rock is absolute. But good on her for capitalising on it.

Related fun: debate clubs used to make a point of arguing about complete bullshit premises, on the basis that it requires more skill to make a decent case for something everyone knows is bs. Flat earth was a particularly popular choice.
It's considered very likely that the bulk of current true believers are such solely because of folks who argued about total bullshit for fun.

I followed her before she started in on the Ancient Rome business. At first she was just typical, this line reading as applied to this biblical verse is not accurate because of XYZ. Often it was plausible and made sense along with other scholars. She was often reacting to evangelicals doing literal translations or their magic math. Jesus blessing dinosaurs. Those kinds of things and it was amusing.
Then she got progressively nastier and stranger. Her takes were more & more demonstrably false. ( Insert dog tilting head image) I don't know if that's how she always is and the original few second/minute brief til toks are her high functioning side she shows at work and school or what.

My physics teacher in high school had a whole sophomore grade of kids convinced N. Dakota did not exist. The reason it’s on maps is that when you take the map off the globe the farther north has to stretch leaving a gap at the top of the US. So they added N. Dakota. He even challenged kids to look at a globe and prove him wrong. 15 year olds being so lazy just took him at his word.
He also used the same, know anyone been to N. Dakota, seen a license plate from N. Dakota. . .
The seniors helped perpetuate the rouse and when you made it to physics II your sr year, you were let in on the joke, and the cycle begun a new.

A few months before the pandemic began, we were volunteering multiple times per week at our local arena to raise $$ for our kids marching band. One night during a Post Malone concert, one of the requirements of selling beer and other bottled drinks that had caps on them, was that we had to remove the cap and throw it away before we could give it to the customers. Since we were never given a reason by the supervisory staff as to why this needed to be done, I started making up random reasons that got more and more absurd as the night went on.. I finally settled on a more and more embellished story about how the first time Post Malone was at the arena performing, someone threw one of the metal caps on to of one of the beer bottles, and it sliced a deep gash below his eye and THAT was the reason he started getting all of his facial tattoos.. Now, I must have explained this to at least 40 or 50 people that night and I just thought of it as having a bit of good fun to make the night pass faster, but the story started coming back weeks and even months later, meaning at least one or more of the people I told that story to started telling other people about it and some people ACTUALLY BELIEVED IT and kept the story spreading.. AKA, this is how urban legends get started.. Someone bored of trying to explain to a bunch of drunk or high people why they can't keep the caps to their beers at a concert telling an insane story they made up on the spot..

There was supposedly a place in the UK West Midlands called Brownhills.
It had appeared on motorways signs since I was a small child in the late 1980s. As I got older I realised I'd never known anyone from there, who had been there or knew anything about it. It didn't appear in any books I read about geography or history (I took both a A Level and got the "genius" batchelor's in Geography).
After uni my brother and I travelled extensively to watch association football games throughout the whole of the West Midlands. We must have been to over 150 ground in the region. There doesn't seem to be a football side there and we never went through Brownhills to get to anywhere.
Wikipedia claimed it was a modest sized town of around 12,000 inhabitants. I know the average number of people and none of them I asked had ever been there. None of them knew anything about it. But there it was on motorway signs.
The matter finally came to a head after about 20 years of wondering, when I lived on a British A road that supposedly terminated in Brownhills, and my brother lived about 100 metres from the same road. We decided to actually drive there and see if it did indeed exist.
And indeed it did. Despite the fact I didn't know ANYONE who had been there or read barely anything about it (except the motorway signs which were obsessed with it) it was there larger than life. A smack average small part of Walsall that was neither great nor rubbish. Its main purpose in life seem to be linking the M6 motorway with the London to Holyhead (ferry port for Ireland) in North Wales roads.
So frankly for all I know and believe Narnia could exist in Spare 'Oom as there is more literary and film evidence of it than Brownhills which does exist and there appears to be no reason for it (Brownhills) to be hidden.

Metatron is nearly gleeful in his overt Misogyny. History is awash with White het male stories, both because they had the power and were the ones writing the history. His primary argument is that because of this, all movies about history should accurately reflect this, even when taking - ridiculous - inaccurate liberties with the rest of the story.

The ruins of its old buildings still stand, as do the customs, like gladiators fighting for the entertainment of the masses, we call them pugilists, kickboxers, wrestlers, pro-athletes and performers. It is all here, things that were distinctly roman, passed down for over 2000 years. Perhaps Rome did not invent all these things, but they immortalized them. Maybe they are not great things, but they are ours, Roman legacy, and all of this recorded in the ruins of the ancient world. And the most enduring legacy, the languages, half the world speaks a derivate of their tongue. Rome remains, and as long as civilization remains it will too. 22:00 - This is easy to debunk. Romas spoke mainly latin, because it was their natural language. However, they also used ancient greek as a language used by the politicians, philosophers, matematicians and people in similliar places. Greek was a go to language, if you wanted a political career in Rome, it was spoken even by Senators during their meetings. Later however, some senators wanted to push latin as a main language of administration, because of patriotic reasons (they wanted to talk politics about Rome in Roman language) so they pursued others to speak only latin. But latin had fewer words that could represent certain ideas, so in that case, member of consul told something to his colleages like: "Listen! I really appologise, but we dont have a word for this in latin, so I am going to use a greek word". I would alse like to end this comment with another fun fact. The first philosophical book written in the lands of Slovakia was Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, which was written in ancient greek :D. And to put the use of those languages simply, I could compare it to the living in a country, where english isnt the national language. For example, I am from Slovakia, so slovakian is our national language (like latin in Rome), but it is requiered to know english, if you want to have a better career (like greek in Rome).

@@anamkarajoy I laughed at this comment and I sincerely hope it was intended to be funny. If not, I apologize.
Turns out the hard part about getting to the moon isn't the calculations. I mean, that IS pretty difficult, but you can do it with an abacus and some pencils and paper (they did use computers as well, but early computers: had to check those things). The tricky parts involve leaps of logic that aren't simple computation, like "We can't carry enough fuel to lift the entire capsule of the lunar surface... so how do we get people back?" Solution? "Have a tiny lander attached to the capsule and just send that." Which gives rise to a HOST of other problems they spent several pre-11 Apollo missions working out.
*Edit: Slide rule, not abacus. I mean you could use an abacus as well if you really wanted to, but the slide rule was the key bit.
