This video was a big help as I just did a case swap on my 800 G1 MB. The PSU adapter worked like a charm but I do have the USB warning when first booting but considering I leave the system on all day and the USB ports work fine, it is just a once a day annoyance. Other than that it is a sweet to have the MB in a much nicer case with a 600W PSU. I should have done this long ago. And it worked out even better as the thermal paste was getting pretty dry and needed to be replaced on the CPU and cooler. Thanks for the great video and all of the information on doing the swap!

unfortunately the way the hp6300 mobo layout is, it is not transferable to a typical case. since the 6300 is the q75 chipset, best bet would be is to take the cpu memory, and other components and transfer them to a newer motherboard so you can use a better case and psu.

You make it look so easy. I’m tempted to ruin my elite desk for the experience haha
it's actually not that hard and way easier then an optiplex
My Windows no longer starts after swapping. I don't know why. Do anyone knows how to connect fans to that motherboard? @DLM tech garage

Thanks so much for this! Computer works great but i get usb 2 error. Not usb 1 or 3 as mentioned? First timer
I have usb 1.0 and 2.0 error
what connector did you use for usb port? I was kinda confuse with shorting..Normally a new case comes with 9 pin usb 2 or 3 from the case usb ports. How will you use it for that motherboard? please explain further to me..thanks
I use the stock usb port, add the extra pin and splice into the original connector. I have a video on the z240 which shows it alot better. link below

Thanks man, saved me. I accidentally bought the wrong 24 pin connector and the one you linked worked just fine. What I ended up dong is just pulling the front panel out of the HP case. Wiring it and tucking it under the power supply shroud for now. Question and I hope I didn't over look it in your video, Is there a way to get the front panel to work at all, or am I stuck with just keeping the errors from coming up on boot.
Pretty decent budget build:
Case: Rosewill D100 came with 4 rgb fans $50
CPU and MOBO: i7 4770 FREE!
PSU: thermnaltake smart 550 $55
24 pin connector: $12
CPU cooler bolts: $7
GPU: GTX 1060 6gb: $100
Storage: Samsung 850 120 gb and WD 250 gb, FREE with machine
It's in the video, the pinout is simple for the led and power, the usb, you need to add the grounds I should in the video and the audio is a direct plug in.
got another video showing this on a different model but the front panel is basically the same. this video might explain it better.

Bro help please can I replace the case of my HP 6300 microtower to a new one with the same compenents ??
unfortunately the way the hp6300 mobo layout is, it is not transferable to a typical case. since the 6300 is the q75 chipset, best bet would be is to take the cpu memory, and other components and transfer them to a newer motherboard so you can use a better case and psu.
Sensational !! Thanks !! Mine helped exactly in the spots I needed!!
Awesome!!
@DLM tech garage
Couldn't you use a AMD cooler mounting (AM3(+) or AM4)? I saw in a forum that someone modified (drilled new holes) an Noctua bracket to use it.
Anything is possible with a little modding

Great video but the g2 board has 12 pins not 10 any suggestions on pin out because still get fan to spin a second then stop.
yea I said that wrong, I have seen that when using the wrong psu adaptor. it has to be specific to the 800 g1

What form factor does the case have? I heard that ATX cases are not compatible with HP motherboards
this case is a regular atx and the boards fit fine in them. you can also use the matx.
One question my case has two usb's (the old kind) its a case from 2001 where do i plug those in at? they say vcc1 usb1- usb+ vcc2 usb2- usb+ and then 2 ground cables
it's hard to say with the older cases... I am not sure.
Hi boss where to connect the front power panel the reset connection? Do you have any clue.
Thanks
i don't, not sure they had that option as every diagram I found did not have one listed.
Can you do an HP Elitedesk 800 G3 RGB swap? I have those and wanted to see how I should run my led/power switch :)
Hello, using an ATX Case for 800 G1 SFF. The case/power supply has a USB 3.0 Cable. Now error is Front USB-2. How to we pin out to remove the "922 - Front USB error"? The same pin out to fix USB-1 doesn't work. Tower I have is (Bgears b-Voguish-RGB Gaming PC ATX case, Include: 6 x 120mm ARGB Fans, 1 x 10 Fans Controller, 1 x Remote Controller, USB3.0, Support up to EATX Motherboard, Support Graphic Card up to 380mm Long) from Amazon.
I have a question about this style of adapter, I ordered one from Amazon that is supposed to work with many models. I got a new Thermaltake 500w psu and hooked it up to the HP G1 via the adapter, it boots but shuts off. I'm using the cases power button and the led turns red. It works perfectly fine with the stock psu.
There are 5 SATA pads but only 3 SATA connectors. Can one add/solder 2 more SATA connectors? Also what is the Media3.0 connector for? I love to use every port. Finally there is a chip with a silver heat sink at 8:41 . Mine has no such heatsink and l see no way one could be added there. What's up with that?
I have an HP EliteDesk 800 g3 and would like to know if the 24-pin to 6-pin ATX Power Adapter Cable works on my motherboard

Quick question, what is that white connector for? My pc case doesn’t have that connection for the white connector. But I do have that black cable next to it. What am I missing here ?
not sure what connector you are talking about??
i did the exact same thing you did my mother board won't turn on. i got another g1 800 hp board wotking in original case to everything out of that and put that on my test bench and that will not boot. neither board will boot using original ps
ok after trouble shooting figured out is the 24 pin cable i bought from new egg. original power supply is working on mb after cmos reset. i looked at the cable link you posted and the wires are different colors from my original power supply and in different pin layouts
yea you have to get the specific one for the 800 g1. the z240 and another variant look exactly the same but are wired differently.

Do you need to jump them before putting front connectors in or is it fine if there is something in them
not sure of the question you are asking.
@@DLMtechgarage Sorry I wrote that when I was tired lol. So you see how you used the jumping cables to get rid of usb f1 error, is this necessary to do if the pins are being used? And if so, do I do it before I transfer it into a new case?

go for it. pretty easy and the boards on these are solid!
@@DLMtechgarage hey sorry for bothering you again...when im jumping the signal connector to the ground on the usb 1.0 pins....can i just take some plyers and pinch the 2 pins together so they're touching eachother??...isnt that in "theory" the same thing as using a jumper wire??? just curious on your thoughts...thanks in advanced!
can this tutorial be used for a prodesk 600 g2 ? everything seems to be looking about the same
if the mobo is the same then yes.
Could you tell me how to connect the exhaust fan that comes with the NZXT H510 to this board?
I would use a sata to 4 pin adptor
so if i put this in a gaming case, can i just plug in the new cases usb 2.0 into that yellow header? and the usb 3.0 into the blue one and have them be usable on the new case? or do I HAVE to jumper them together? id like to just plug the new cases wires into this board, but i dont want it to fry anything, as can be the case with dell motherboards and their fan headers for example
you don't have to do the ground mod, that only gets rid of the error, it will still work
is there a way to get a better power supply without swapping the case or doing something external?
not on the sff versions, the matx you can.

I missed something, why are you taking the cpu heat sink off to begin with? Or was this just a mother board no cpu?
it is bolted to the case. only way to remove the board.

the board will fit any matx or atx and even full atx case.

double check the psu adaptor you bought. They are specific

Can i use hp elitebook 800g1 processor to my H110M-D motherboard?
the elitebook are laptops and those cpu's are soldered to the bored.
when i change the psu with the 6pins converter it always shown 515 power supply fans not detected
make sure you got the right converter, the error happens when you get the wrong one. it has to be specific for the 800g1... there are convertors for the different models and the pin outs are different.
Hey can you help me? I have a hp Z230 SFF. I bought a 500W psu and im moving the MOBO into a h510 elite case. My psu is a Thermaltake smart series. Comes with main pwr connector 20+4 pin, 4+4 atx pin that i plugged into the cpu pwr, sata 4 pin i used for two SSD, pci-e 6+2 pin (x2) one 8pin went into my Rx 580, peripheral 4 pin and a fdd 4 pin. I planned on putting one 6 pcie pin into the main power connector.
The pcie pin fits into the main power connector. But the shapes look a little different. Also the 6 pin thats above the sata power. I don’t know if it matters if i use that or not.
So do i even need the 24pin adapter?
you have to use the adaptor or it won't work, you can short out the board. When you buy the adaptor make sure it is specific to the z230 as other models look the same but are wired differently.
hi mate, i would like to ask how did you put an extra exhaust fan on the modded build, if you can, can you drop the link to the adapter or something? thanks in advance man great video!
The PC case I transferred the motherboard to has wires for a reset button. Where would I put these assuming they connect near the power switch?
not sure as I did not figure the reset button and everything i found, i was unable to find info on it.
@@DLMtechgarage That's fine, thanks for the quick response though
Question, I have that same HP 800G1, I am going to install a Geforce GTX1650, I know the power comes from the PCI-E rail thru this 240 watt power supply. Nividia recommends at least 300 watt power supply. Will the GPU still work and will it work properly? If I upgrade the PSU, the watt at the rail would not increase anyway right?
the system would crash and could burn up the card, mobo, or psu, need more juice out of the psu
will i be able to use usb 3.0? one of the reasons im switching is so i can fit a full size card in for vr, i need a 3.0 for fast response time
yes, with doing the pin out for the usb it will work fine.
so why wouldn't i just plug something into those usb headers instead of jumpering ? it still throws the error?
I have a EliteDesk 800 g1 TWR and I noticed the mobo screw holes don't match those of a standard m-ATX mobo. Do you need to adapt the case to the Hp OEM mobo ? How bad is it ? Thanks.
no sure, never used those.
