reading the forums, everything points to a power supply issue. forums state that the sensor is designed to detect failing power supplies, but in this case, i believe the seasonic focus if i am not mistaken has zero rpm mode which would trigger the motherboard to not detect the fan and cause an error. this technology came out later after the hp system was built. Does this work for all hp z-xxx computers or specifically the z240? I want to do this with the hp z440 but I'm not sure everything is the same like in the video.
so far most hp's use the same style pin out so I believe it might.
Hi, great video thank u for do it, I want to do the same on hp prodesk 600 g2 sff, but, the pins of the yellow connector are different, how do I find out which one I have to jump ?? (pin 7 and 8 is blank) and the rest of pin (1-6 / 9-10) not
never tried tinkering with one of those. I just follow the pins to their respective buttons and leds, draw a diagram and make my own pin outs.
@@DLMtechgarage hi, thanks for answer, i have update: on the hp prodesk 600g2 the usb conector have 12 pins not 10 pins; 1-2 pin (power +v5), 3-4 pin (d-) 5-6 pin (d+) , 7-8 pin (ground), 9-10 pin (blank), 11-12 (????unknow), i tried (with a lot of fear...) jump the 8 pin with the 12 pin and works!!!! not error during post!!!, the 3.0usb work like u show on the video!!!
@@felixyep6551interesting so it's kind of like the z240 where the extra pin is a signal ground for the error. Nice!!
@@felixyep6551 How are you doing? I follow this same way, but my OS reports Unknown USB device...do you know how to fix it?
Awesome video.
Ive got the Z230 that I moved into the case of another prebuilt. It powers on but I don’t get any signal on my monitor no matter which display output I use. Reset the CMOS and reconnected all of the hardware I originally took out. Any ideas?
the power cables adaptor has to be correct, many order the wrong one for the other models and have that issue. pinouts are different.

Hi, guys!!! Nice guide. I have a HP 600G2 SFF and followed all steps, I'm able to skip the USB2 and 3 errors, CH FAN and PSU FAN....but, when I plug any device on my frontal USB, the OS informs Unknow USB Device....My case have just 1 USB2.0 and 1 USB 3.0 in the front panel. for the USB2, my MB have 12pins instead of 10, I had cut the GND and made a jumper between pins 8 and 12. For the USB3, I had cut the pins 01 and 04 of the extensor cable and merge the fours pieces of cable... Could you help me? If I made a mistake, let me know.
not sure, never ran into that issue. seems like a ground issue somewhere or maybe a shorted usb
@@DLMtechgarage I checked again, trying to rebuild the "adapters" now, at least the USB2 is working...but the 3.0 still the same way...
If you don't do any jumping stuff, you can use the front usb right? it just gives you the error? thats the whole point was to skip the errors?
it can work but I have find it to be unstable and random drop outs. but then on other case swap I had no issue.
@@DLMtechgarage It turns out I found a GTX 750 low profile from my friend for 15 bucks so I’m gonna throw that in there not do it Kay swap and do it at the super low price of 225. I’m going to test it and make sure you really can get 60 frames on your esports gaming if you can I’m gonna sell it to somebody who really needs a cheap computer, or my dad’s friend who wants a workstation for basic web design. I have somewhere I can get these computers but 500 GB hard drives, and 16 GB of RAM for about 70 to 80 bucks with shipping so I’m gonna be doing Kay swaps on these a lot. Can’t beat 6th gen Intel for 100$ (with a sata ssd) And I already have hard drives, so I can throw some of those in there so it’s not only a 500 GB bill

Ottimo e utilissimo tutorial, grazie mille
Can i just re use usb from old casing.. then no need change any wiring except for on off swicth n power supply.. tq
you can if you can find a place to mount them in the new case. I have use to do that.
Tq bro
Do you have a link for pin assignments for HP Prodesk 600 G4?
I don't, haven't seen one yet.
the 70 series optiplexes are way better then the 90 series ones because of the newer cpu's and cheapness of them and the m.2 support
Hey u think these steps will work for the hpz420?? I want to to this with that pc and it’s my first pc build I think I can do it
not sure, mobo looks similar, and I have found hp did not change too much around that time line. def something to give a chance. the forum is where I figured out how to do the swaps along with matching pinouts from the case wiring.
great video! my problem : i have the exact same z240 and put it in the coolmaster 500 mesh case . everthing is working the fans the leds everything . but there is symply no signal to the monitor . do you think something is broken?
could it be the power adapter . that it has not enough watt ?
would be very cool to get an answer .
thank you
what kind of graphics card are you using?
what kind of graphics card are you using?
@@DLMtechgarage hey thanks for the answer. i bought this pc about 5 years ago from a company it has an intel i7 7th generation but i dont know the graphics card. they said to me that they‘ve installed a very strong and good nvidia card
@@9speedgaming901 I would try removing the graphics card and plugging the monitor into the board. That would rule out a graphics card issue. Then if you still have the problem try each ram stick 1 by 1 in the first slot to rule out a memory issue.
Another thing to consider is checking the psu connections. are the 24 pins and 6 pins attached properly. I have seen people plug the pcie into the cpu 6 pin by mistake. if all that checks out, then look into the adaptor you bought. The adaptor is specific for the z240. Their are ones out their that look identical and will plug in but are wired differently. I ran into that.
does the Z240 have the option for "Above 4G Decoding" in the bios?
not sure, will have to look next time I get one in. doubt it as the bios is real basic
upload a video for sff 600 g1 please
very similar to the 800 g1 video i did. Only main difference is making sure have the correct power adaptor for the swap

@@DLMtechgarage yoo update i just build my pc and everything is working fine no errors i did not use any bypass like yours what i did is i also transfer the usb front ports to another case i want to show it to you but i don't know how
What was the original CPU that came with that machine? I was wondering if I should go for HP Z240 Workstation SFF Barebone 6th Gen Intel Xeon Motherboard *No CPU/RAM/SDD and add the e3 1245 myself cause they're very hard to come by pre-assembled. Barebones is like $36, with a 1245 is like $200
I tend to go with the barebones as it can be cheaper if you find the right price for the other parts.
Hey, dunno if you're still interested in this but I just finished building everything with a 1245 v5. Runs snappy, no surprises.
Hey, how did you figure out where the front panel connectors go?
I looked at the original case pin out outs and traced them and followed them to match.

Can you make a video on the Hp elitedesk 800 g1?
if i get one in the garage most def will!!
i have the elitedesk 800 g1 and its really similar to this test. Just copy what he does and it should work.
Hey mate, do you know what pins I would have to jump for the front audio?
i can't remember but I don't think i have to jump anything.
@@DLMtechgarage the case I'm using is pre old so it doesn't have a modern front panel audio connector 😂 any ideas?
So the 3.0 usb you Just put 1 and 4 pin together?
yup!
Does this on the z230?
not sure.
is this suitable for hp compaq 8200 elite i5 2400 sff?
any chance you know what it means when cpu fan keeps cycling every few seconds and the green light by the power button blinking green?
not sure but sometimes reseating the memory stick fixes weird errors like that.
My hp does that and the problem only ends when I run the pc with one single stick of ram, I suspect a bios or Windows update has messed with the dual Chanel ram controller somehow?
Can i do the same thing on my z240 that is bigger than youra
yes. the matx z240 you def can and have more options. you can upgrade the psu and get a better graphics card for it.
I have a problem with the front io usb 2.0 conector. I have an hp elite desk 800 g2 sff and the usb conector has 12 pin its different to the one showed in the video. Could you tell me which pins i have to jump?
I think I have a specific video on that.
Hi, is there a way to tell BIOS to ignore all errors except keyboard?
nope, it's really limited, and if they did that then people would be case swapping this easier.
@@DLMtechgarage Good point.

other brands make them too.
do you know if this will work with the hp z230 Tower?
not sure as it's a different chipset and not sure if hp kepts the same layout for the inputs.
How about the hp pavilon tp01 will it works?
not sure. if the mobos are the same I would say yes.
em about the psu fan not dedected in hp 800 g1
if you did the swap, did you get the correct adaptor, the adaptors are particular based on the model. has to say 800g1. got a video on the 800g1 swap
@@DLMtechgarage i did not swap i just plug in new psu and added rx 570 cause original hp case is fine for me
could the same be done with the z230 sff?
not sure as its a different chipset but I have found in my experience is that mobo manufactures tend to do things the same, so the front panel might be similar and the pinouts might be similar.
hey, does this method work on with HP 600 G1 sff?
not sure. never missed with none.
@dlmtechgarage is this the same for the elite desk g4?
not sure, never messed with one.
if you want skip the (rear fan error) loop a wire on the front panel header on the pin next to power switch and the pin next to the blank the last pin stay loose or nothing on it or empty just to be sure you guy understand my poor english

I have a dell optiplex 3010 mt. And my PC is very slow after resetting windows and keeping my files. I have updated all my driver's and updated everything and I get half the frames I got before. Do you any help you can give me?
might be alot of bloatware programs running in the background. go to task manager and see what is using the most cpu and memory usage, also what are the specs. you need to find what is taking your resource and probably just uninstall it. if not then maybe the new update might be a little too much if you not running 8gb of ram or an sssd.
@@DLMtechgarage I have a i5 3470 gtx 1650 and 8gb ram but there wasn't anything noticible running in the background. I deleted all bloat ware I could.
