Thank you for all you do. You have the most in depth and knowledgeable info on these systems. Just bought my adapter kit…. Time to make this 3020 sexy. Thanks a million!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I love helping you guys out so i'm very glad youre able to take the video and apply it!
@@RAVisuals mine is also almost done as well, trying to get a rx 580 for it
Thank you, I enjoyed this video and how clear you were with getting the correct kit to do this swap.
The step by step on this was awesome!!! Great video!!!
This what I been waiting for.great stuff.
Thanks, didn't know the header adapters existed, that solves a headache rehousing the motherboard.
A great video and very timely for me as I am picking up a 3020 in the next couple of weeks and this is a huge help. Thanks for the tutorial and well done video!
You're very welcome! Good luck on the new build!
That Harbin kit is cool. Way easier than creating my own adapter. Thanks for the video.
You’re welcome!
this video saves me a lot of pain in the ass work, because i am planning to swap case my optiplex 9020 sff motherboard to a standard gaming pc casing, which in case will not work. Thank you so much for this video and God bless you brother!
hey how your dell optiplex 9020 sff update ???
Great video! Just what I was looking for
Glad I could help!
thanks for following through on such a cool idea
Not a problem! I’ve been wanting to do it for a long time but had everything on the shelf, haha
Thanks dude. I have gotten the Optiplex 9020 by accident (I bought RAM and the dude just straight up brought this PC with if if I want it for additional 20€, which was kind of an hard blow to me, but it was worth it. It is intended for my girlfriend. Right now she has a PC at my place with Xeon X3470 and with it incompattible MOBO. It just straight up crashes upon logging into Windows. The only fix is to power it down, take out the outside PSU cable, start it with PSU not connected to the grid, then plug it back in and then it starts. I have no clue what is happening there but I just don't want to bother with it anymore.
Luckily Optiplex 9020 still uses DDR3 so we can just recycle that, I've gotten the 24 pin adapter already but I will be waiting up until mid July 23 just for the Harbin adapters. Thank you very much for this magnificent video because I would have not realised that DELL is at its proprietary bull*hit again with this. Thanks to you my GF will be able to use this better system for Blender and some gaming. She can't use blender with her dual core laptop now so this is huge for her.
If my GF ever sees this comment: Miluju tě a dělám to, protože mi na tobě nejvíc záleží
Cool just ordered one I’ll have to get those adapters for the swap
Sweet job mate👍
Amazing you’re about to get me a solid gaming pc for less than 350$ !!!! You’re doing the lords work here.
That's awesome! Glad I could help!
You can convert the usb 3.0 into a fuctional 2.0 using an adapter as well, some cases dont have 2.0 usb on the front panel and just use 3.0 so this would be a workaround
Great video. Thank you for sharing.
for the warnings about front io or fans, you have to bridge 2 pins on the usb and hd audio connector, aswell as on the proprietary front panel connector that dell uses
simple paperclip is enough or a short wire!
ive had dell mainboards complain about hd audio on some cases cause the connector didnt bridge those 2 pins needed by default
Why adaptor don't work on sff?
Great video, it helped me at lot.
No problem!! Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for this - Thinking of picking up a 7020 MT and moving it into a case with 4x 3.5” drive bays as a NAS, has anyone else done this, only thing putting me off, does the Dell mobo fit regular screw holes etc on standard cases? Can anyone suggest a budget case with 4 drive bays that would be an easy swap?
Good video! Just a quick question: did you need an adapter for the rear case fan to connect to the Optiplex motherboard? I have a 9020 MT and there's a proprietary 5-pin connector on the motherboard for both the rear case fan and CPU cooler fan. Thanks!
brings back memories when I did that
This is really nice
thank you!
Thank you so much!
Gave a like buddy looks great
Much appreciated!
Just watched your video, I am about to swap a 9020 into this case as well. I have a question about the Molex connector on the 120mm fans. Where on the motherboard is this going to be plugged into? Or what adapter would I need to purchase to provide power to them?
The tutorial looks great. A dell optiplex sff tutorial would be great because I can't find any of those on RUclips and all I have is a sff optiplex.
This might be coming next! It’s a bit more tough to crack though! Haha
@@RAVisuals I would be forever grateful if you figure this out. Just bought the optiplex i5 for my 9 year old son and it would be fun to do his first build with a much cooler case 🙏🏾
Asking for this too. I am wondering if I can also have space to put in a 500w power supply. I’d love to find a way to put like. 1070gpu in it
@@kevindavis3369I have a 1080 Ti for my optiplex. Only thing holding me back is the screw locations on the motherboard. This prevents me from being able to use another case. However hopefully I can make a custom plate adapter for the motherboard.
@@RAVisuals can it work for a 5040 dell optPlex
Content 🐐🔥🔥🔥
Very nice 👍,sir can we use 400watts in another pc cabinet with this motherboard..
New to the channel. Great content so far. You're probably sick of Optiplex PC. But is it possible to do a Optiplex 7050 build and gaming benchmark test?
I have been thinking about getting into the newer OptiPlex's but they are much harder to mod as everything is proprietary inside them. You definitely can make them a gaming PC though
I have the same optiplex. It randomly shuts off and gets stuck in boot loops. Any ideas here? sometimes it works fine and other times it takes me a few restarts holding the boot key to get it to work again. I have run diagnostics and it checks out. Wondering if its the windows that was installed on it? thanks!
Thanks! Finally swapped out the stock PSU in my Optiplex 9020 so I could upgrade from my amazingly good GTX 1050 Ti to a RTX 2060 super 12GB. (That's not a typo- MSI actually made a 12GB version.) Only issue is thermal throttling. So, going to have to swap the MOBO into a 3-fan case. (No RGB for me, thanks.)
I really like your video.. I would like to ask you if I could swap Intel Precision 3660 with original motherboard into gaming PC case.. the mobo looks weird.. Do you have suggestion on which gaming PC case should I buy to fit the "weirdo" mobo? Tqs in advance !!
09:49 i didnt understand the hdd led thingy? where did u get the cable that u put on the adapter? from the case or the psu? is it necessary? Thanks in advance. (pls respond i need help with this)🙏🙏
Can i case swap the newer model optiplex like the 3070 as front connectors is already available on the motherboard? Please help if it is possible to do or not worth it
Currently have the 3070 model + Gtx 1060 + extra psu to power gpu
That’s a great video. I’ve already uploaded my 9020 with that atx power supply adapter but I didn’t know about the other adapters. Super awesome info! Let’s me get rid of the crap 9020 case and put a nice video card in it.
Glad I could help!
Hey thx man does it work for every case or just that one
I have a precision T3620. I am leaning towards doing a case swap, but it has an intruder connection coming off the section where the GPU resides. How do you bypass that alarm?
If I want to use my the power supply that come with my Optiplex 7050 with a jack-gc01 case, will I need ALL these adapters?
Can you connect an AIO water cooler to the Dell Optiplex 9020 MT motherboard on a case swap?
I just grabbed a 3020 to use as a NAS server. After doing a bit of research, this might become my primary pc.
haha, nice!
Do you need the adapter from harbin repairs or can I just get one from Amazon also do I need 3 or can I use 2
thank you sir for sharing this great videos!
My pleasure!
8:24 great info! Great case swap! Got a hold of a Dell Optiplex 7010, but the case got damaged!! ☹️😡 System still works, but the case & front cover are sorta toast! Has the i7 3770 (S?) 3.4, 8 GB RAM, about 480 - 500 GB HDD, Win 10 Pro. Thank you 🤓 if you take an existing Dell MT (system works) and decide to use another Dell case, also an MT, can you take say, the front mounted USB ports from the working MT, and maybe with a small case mod - if needed - so the USB port panel fits, mount it into the donor case, so the working system keeps its configuration?
I've just bought and installed a new power supply for my Optiplex 790. Along with a big GTX 980 connected with an extension ribbon. It won't post. Just gives me a "1 3" on the front.
Awesome!! build
Thank you! Cheers!
How do I remove power switch cable can't seem to get it to come off the motherboard and don't want to break it
Can i buy a new sound card for the 3020 as the sound only comes out of one speaker from the rear jack port.
hey thanks for the video, any link for that portable Monitor
Will this work with the big Optiplex 990 tower I have?
Is that the sensor rbg light on top inside thr tower or just a light?
Thanks a lot, big help for me... good job
I appreciate it! Glad I could help!
Can u help me,plugged the power switch and led in the correct places but the power button doesn't work but the leds do? 🤔
can u use the same power suply that was in the dell optiplex
can you still use the front power button without the adaptor?
Will the 3020 adapters work with the 3060 mainboard, please.
Where do you plug the fan wires ?
can you do another video like this but on dell xps 8930?
I HAVE OPTIPLEX 3080 WHAT SHOULD I DO
I WANT TO CHANGE CASE
Can u build same Case Swapped The HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Tower....
What happens if I don’t buy those adapators for the led things
Those adapter kit thingies are so expensive in my country is it possible to just not use it entirely by bypassing ?
Interesting to see that Montech ordered this white case to have black insides, and also removed the RGB fan
The Tecware M3 white is the same case, but with white insides, and their proprietary RGB fan included, cycling through effects with the LED button seen at 04:40
I would like that case much better! Exactly what I was looking for when shopping for a case
@@RAVisuals
Tecware cases is very popular where I'm from, they pretty much copy big brands.
Eg their hotseller Tecware Forge M is a Fractal Meshify clone, and their Omni ARGB fans are EK Vadar clones.
They just launched their Corsair 4000D Airflow clone recently, Tecware Neo.
The build quality is meh, but nutty USD70 for 4000D A looks with 4x EK Vadar ARGB clones and an argb controller (that can be cycled with case LED button or argb motherboard header.)
Not a Tecware rep, but I sell PCs
do these uprgrades work with a optiplex 7050 sff
Will this also work on a dell optiplex 7010 DT?
Nice case simplistic! Do you have a recommend budget friendly case?
I linked one in the description for ya!
@@RAVisuals thanks i'll be checking it out appreciated!
it is now compatible with the SFF, just a heads up
Will my dell optiplex 9010 fit in this case ?????
Please help
would it be possible to swap a 7090 sff into another case?
Why does the front panel USB 2.0 need an adapter? It looks standard
Looking for a 9020 usb 3.0 workaround adapter. The comments here tell me one exists. Anyone have a link to the right part?
3pc adapter work for the optilex 7020??
Great job, but.. how do you mount the MB, looks like DELL MB not compatible with other cases. there different holes position
Nice job.
Usning 2nd and 3rd gen intel dell much easier then 4th gen. Also no need for adapter, just need to connect the power switch.
what about dell optiplex 3050? case swap do i need the adapters
Really great swap, i have a 9020 OPTIPLEX MT, cant see investing in a swap if win 11 not supported😢
you can get 11 but later on can get a new micro atx mb and cpu
I want to case swap but I don’t know what case to buy
Does this work on any mid tower case?
Can I do the same thing with dell vostro 3888?
did u install the temp sensor?
Has anyone done a case swap on the dell precision 5820 I cant find adaptors anywhere or anyone know where i can find some thanks
Great video. I did a case swap but pc has black screen coming from video card. I booted into windows with the onboard video , installed the graphics card drivers but still black screen. Any ideas? Card works as it’s been tested on another pc.
could be an issue with the pcie slot not accepting the card. Ive heard this can be an issue but only happens with certain cards
What type of motherboard dell oplitex 9020 has
👍👍👍hi, will the optiplex 3020 minitower i7 2600 cpu fit
what monitor did you use?
The rear case fan didn't need an adapter?
Well i case swapped my dell inspiron 660 and i have everything working but my internet doesnt work on my pc before i swapped it it worrked but now it doesn
So this case will fit a dell optiplex 7020 right?
What is a good case with Rgb under 40$ ?
Great video. Unfortunately it looks like Harbin Repairs doesn't ship outside of the US, so I'm looking to see if any UK suppliers does something similar.
let us know if you find anything, I'm also based in the UK
Same here, please let us know 🙏🙏🙏
@@GB_Panda16 I have one and I'm in the UK
Check eBay. They have some listings that might ship to the UK.
For anyone still looking seller: "snoichong" on ebay sells it over here and it ships from china but only takes a couple of weeks.
Thanks for this. Are there adaptors for the optiplex 7060 to enable a case swap and deal with the front panel and power button cabling ? I can't seem to find any.
thx and keep making those vids!!
Unfortunately no,
Dell doesn't want you to do that so they changed their motherboards in their new pcs
9010 no adapter issues…
let me know what you think about my 9010 build
Does this work for the 9010?
Does the 3090 need adapters?
Is it fine if i reuse my dell power supply
I personally like the look of the Optiplex, taking the guts out of one and putting it another case would be pointless to me, but otherwise this video is great for those who want to do that.
how can i tell if i a dt or sff model optiplex?
USB 3 PCIe Card with internal header?
as of this comment i have a 9020 and i swapped the case im just waiting for adapters and it didnt start for 10 min after power idk y but works well now
Thanks for the awesome video! I'll try and see if I can put a new PSU and an RX 6600 in my 7020 (i5-4590)!
you'll definetly be bottlenecked.
Can you do this with the optiplex dt’s? The half width mid tower
Yes, up to the xx10 series without PSU adapters. With the xx20 series you’ll need motherboard and PSU adapters.
