Cam pretty easily run GTX 1070 series cards! which all combined in this system gives a mid level, below budget gaming rig. for nearly $300 total. New GTX 1650 with GDDR6 like the Gigabyte Eagle only needs a 300w PSU and 6-pin connection. Only uses 85w, and boosts over 2000Mhz with a light OC. I have it on a H67 board with an i7-3770s. Can play almost any title easy

  • @Canyaza
    @Canyaza 3 года назад +1

Dell's newer computers ship with a 500W supply when you add a 1650S/1660S to them.
I transplanted 9010 sff to a normal sized case.
I used an OEM Dell 1650S + (they use 6 pin power, search "Dell" "GDDR6" "oem" if you want the Dell version, it's the smallest 1650 super I know of, even smaller Zotac.) 4.5" wide from PCIe tab to the outside facing edge of the card, slightly under 6.5" in length, and slightly under 2.25" height wise heatsink + board thickness.
Dell's card has 1 HDMI port 1 Displayport 1 DVI, I notice some 1650/1660 model only have Displayport and HDMI. EVGA cards bum me out because they rarely support more than one monitor, I have a 1660 TI but Zotac's was cheaper and had more ports at launch, so you could have 4 monitors plugged in at once.
i7-3770 (no k), and everything ran really well at 1080, GTA V everything on ultra, and on Cyberpunk I was getting 36-48 fps when I had everything on high except shadow/ao/sss set to medium, I wasn't expecting that.
There are Lenovo/Foxconn versions of the 1650S too if you can't find the Dell models, and some of Dell's models only use slot power, but I'm not sure how many watts your PCIe 16x slot needs to support for one of those, I just bought the 6 pin version to be safe.
There are also Dell 1050 oem cards, those only use slot power.

I got a 3020 mt a while back but GPU prices in my country are completely unreasonable. I settled for a gt 730 2GB GDDR5 for the time being as I hope that prices will come down and I can get a 1060 or 1050 ti. It's runs on an i5 4460, 8GB ddr3 1600Mhz sdram but there is room for upgrade to an i7 and 16gb ram in future.

Sata can only provide a max of 54 watts when converted into PCIe 6pin or 8 pin that's not a very smart idea unless running some weak as crap like a 6500xt or a 1650 that requires a 6 pin. so 75 watts from the slot and 54 from the adaptor = 129, But allot of the newer cards will not peg the slot for the 75 and will try to peg the 6pin for 75 or 8 pin for up to 150 it's a dangerous road depending on the card. Some optiplex's have a 6pin pcie so that could be safe to adapt to 8pin 150W if you know the full power draw of the card worst case would be lower then 150~

I just installed a Sapphire RX 580 8gb card into my Dell Optiplex 7010 mt. I took the XFX RX 570 8gb from it and put it in my Dell Optiplex 790
mt. Needless to say, both were a pain in the butt to put in either case. The Sapphire fit length works, but I had to unplug the usb 3.0 cable from the mb. And then plug it back in. I also had to use 90 degree SATA cables. The RX 570 required me having to cut down the fan housing so as to fit length wise. In conclusion: go with the NVidia gtx 1650S or 1660S for upgrade builds on the Dell Optiplexes. However, being the AMD fanboy that I am: Visiontek makes a 4gb and 8gb rx 5500xt that will easily fit. The HP AMD RX 580 omen 4gb will fit nicely as well.

It will take me all year to Buy the 9020 and a Graphics card as well. I have been using an old acer laptop since 2014 and I have no idea that I can build something playable. I've never owned a console or a pc thats able to play games. this will be the first time I experience a game in 1080p. the game I want to play is genshin impact/ I have been playing on my laptop but its Haswell i5 3rd gen. I removed the hard drive cage bought an adapter that lets you mount multiple hard drives in the disc drive slot put them there and then fitted a full size 1060 6gb
the optiplex had an ssd added in already when I got it
I upgraded the ram from 8gb to 16gb fun fact I learned with this 1600mhz is the max speed consider that when buying ram cause I bought 1866mhz and I can't fully utilize its speed
I also chose to upgrade the power supply as I didn't feel safe running the pc on 290w alone
added a full size 1060 6gb (which is why I removed the hard drive cage so it fit went full size cause its what I already had)

Thanks for this video. I recently purchased a 9020 for 75 bucks, with an i7 4770 CPU. The plan is to upgrade it for office and studio (Presonus) work, and occasional gaming (I'm thinking of having a go at Skyrim). I had been looking at AMD GPUs, particularly the RX 580, but if, as you've so clearly shown, I'll need to both upgrade the power AND modify the case, then I'd definitely be better off budget-wise to go with one of the NVIDIA cards. If I don't need to upgrade the PSU, then I can afford to pay a bit more for the GPU. Add to that the cost of 32G of RAM and a good SSD, and I should have a good all-rounder for about 300 dollars. 👍👍👍😏😏😏

To the best of my knowledge, it's not always necessary. I found this out the hard way, buying a GPU that requires a minimum of 300W and 20A, while my 3010's power supply only provides 275W and 12A. It never occurred to me to check beforehand. 🙄🙄🙄
