Btw guys, just to clarify, I used this GPU because it’s what I had in stock and I got a great deal on it. I’d recommend going for a slightly better GPU if possible!
the irony is that you could have fit that Radeon Pro into the original SFF case (with a low profile bracket)! add the RAM and the SSD and you'd have been good to go! the system would probably run slightly hotter than in the full size case, but essentially it would have been the exact same system (minus the RGB of course 😏). I did a similar build with an HP Elitedesk 800 G2 SFF with a Radeon Pro WX3100
I love building the SwaptiPlex (Optiplex in a modern case). For those hunting, you can also use an old Dell XPS which comes with a more standard board and the power supply is usually 450-550W with PCIe so you don't even have to buy a new power supply.
Hey good job here for the case swap. That being said, with the extra space you got now, you can easily be creative and find a cheap but cool funko pop figure at your closest dollar store and put it on top of the PSU! :)
Ive just made a cheap gaming machine out of a Dell 3050 SFF. These have a M.2 Nvme slot. So fitted a nvme drive, and also a Sata 1TB SSD. 16GB RAM, i7 6700, and a GTX 750 Ti 4GB. And its doing a superb job. Assetto Corsa 110fps.

I had so much trouble removing the motherboard. Turned out there is a small huge screw that is sticking up, holding the board. If you cannot take the board out this might be the reason.
7:46 what 2 pins do you mean for the power switch? What about the other cables with the power switch one like the led + and - or whatever their called? Also, how did you connect the 4 fans to the one fan slot on the motherboard?
Nice vid, but can u plz explain this a little since im a beginner, So can u just use any Power Supply, or u gotta make sure that its especially for Dell Optiplex with longer cables?
Great video! I'm planning on doing a build like this. Currently, I'm planning to get: OptiPlex, CPU cooler, GPU, HDD, NVME SSD, 16 GB ram, and case. do I need any adapters or other parts?
You'll need a CPU cooler adapter, and if your GPU needs external power, it's best to get a new power supply. Also, most cheaper Optiplex models don't support NVMe SSDs, so you'll need a SATA SSD instead of an HDD. But if you want to play it safe, you could just buy a cheaper prebuilt from Amazon, like the ones I’ve shown in some of my other videos.
How did you get it to work? I did exactly what you did, but I got a different case, and the front panel cables wouldn't connect to my motherboard. Do you know what the problem is.
Hi, If you look at this diagram, you'll see that the front panel pinout for the Dell Optiplex SFF is different from the standard. You'll still be able to use the new case's connectors with the Optiplex motherboard, but they need to be connected differently than usual, which is why it’s not working. www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/optiplex-desktops/9020-usff-and-sff-external-power-button/6664ced29d31ec38a7cddd45?commentId=6664e7ff933a6c1435963f18

Actually it is capable of streaming, but for that, you’ll have to lower the game settings and the stream settings in obs studio or whatever platform you’ll use to stream to Twitch/RUclips/etc. I’ve tried it before. 1:00 that's not anything about the hard drive or lack thereof; PXE means Preboot Execution Environment, meaning network boot. It's failing that because you don't have it connected with Ethernet to a server from which to load the operating system. Literally no one does unless they go out of their way to do it, I've never tried to set this up so I don't know what's involved. Booting over the network would be slow, anyway, even with a 1Gbps link. It might be about the same speed as an HDD, but slow compared to an SSD.
