I think the issue with the card was the name. Its not just 2GB VRAM less, but less clock speed, bus, etc., which made it seem like an underhanded move by Nvidia. Same as the 3060 8GB really.
Yes I got shafted buying an nvidia laptop. I got caught up in the marketing with rtx 3xxx until I realized my vram was 4gb 😂 smh Thankfully I only play genshin and star rail, but still 😢 I've since "upgraded" to a an optiplex 7010 I got for free at work. IT guys already put 64 gb ram and the mobo has the standard 24 pin power connector which is pretty weird for dells. Just upgraded the PSU and Radeon 6600 for $220 Not a triple a gamer so I'm not concerned about being bottle necked
@@adlibconstitution1609 I would go with the 6600 unless you need DLSS or NVENC. For just gaming, the 6600 will be the better card. Oh and also, 6600 requires external power, so make sure you have an 8pin PCIE connector for it.
I love this video. I’m new to the PC world, and just finished an Optiplex 7050 build: i7 7700, 1660 Super, 1TB M.2, and 32gig DDr4 RAM. I also added a 500W PSU that required very minor case alterations to fit (namely, cutting the flat plate by the stock PSU). Was thrilled to get 70 fps on titles like Battlefield 2042. Very cool to see other variations!

It''s worth noting that the low profile 3050 6GB is the same price as the full size 6GB, they perform the same and will work in the SFF Optiplex systems, as long as you don't buy a 30 class model. Really, the LP models make sense at that price, but the full height cards should be no more than $150 to be viable when you have an RX 6600 at the same price. Also, you could get some more FPS in thees games where the CPU is near full util by using something like ThrottleStop to max out the boost limit and the long a short power durations, which could bring those clock speeds up with the CPU being heavily utilized.
@@BREEZYM6015 Well, the 3050 6GB is more of a side grade from a 1060 6GB and the same goes for the 1660 Super/Ti. If you're willing to spend around $190 for the 3050 6GB, just get the RX 6600. It leaves the 3050 6GB in the dust in every way.
RX 6600 requires external power though, and for some older office PCs that come with 200w or lower PSUs that could be an issue since the RX 6600 can eat up to 160w max.
@@BREEZYM6015 You just want to be careful with the things you adjust. Increasing the boost limit and the long and short power durations are pretty safe, and can help if you're getting high util. It can even help marginally if you're not. However, if you want to start really playing with a lot of the other settings, I would brush up what they all do before playing with it.
Ironically, prior to seeing this vid, I had ordered an MSI RTX 3050 6g ( same card ) and instaled it in a Dell Precision 3600 workstation ( 32 gb ram and Xeon E5-1620 0 ) as a gamer and its working great ! Win 10 pro, WD 1 tb SSD as boot and a couple WD Baracuda 8 tb for storage.
Get an old i5 8400 optiplex build and slap in a RTX 3050 6GB. The old I5 8400 has 6 cores and 6 threads. So if you run Fortnite or some cpu intensive games that needs more than 4 cores then the cpu would do great.

I have a system with an i3 9100F, this graphics card was a solid choice for a small upgrade. So far I used 1060 3 GB. I don't play anything demanding, in R6 I have 200 FPS with very high details. I know it's not a bang for the buck, but I wanted it to be new and a little newer generation and have a warranty. I am completely satisfied with the purchase and have not regretted it, the model is MSI 3050 VENTUS 2X 6G OC.
Funny thing about the thermal paste part, I have a copier that was Linux and now is and has had Windows 10 on it. That thing had crusty dusty thermal paste that's been on there for at least 6 years old and would barely heat up, you could touch the heat sink and it would be cool. Replaced the thermal paste, still the same thing. Heat sink cool to the touch.
I have almost the exact setup. Optiplex 7050 SFF with a i7-6700, 16GB RAM and a RTX A2000 which is basically the workstation version of the 3050. Runs games like Starfield and Cyberpunk surprisingly well.

It would be interesting to see the low profile 3050 paired in some of the "newer" refurbished SFF Optiplex units that are coming out with the i7 8700 in it; how much of an uplift there might be going up to a 6-core 12-thread processor but still no external power for the GPU. Potentially better than a 1660 considering it would be somewhat DLSS capable?
Idea: set up a wireless HDMI on the monitors that the cases are displaying from , and put gutted cases on the sales floor. send video from a master head unit to power the displays. Let them eat cake.
My first PC build was with this exact CPU, but the GPU was an RX 6600 in a Prodesk 600 G2. I'd highly recommend such builds if you want to get on gaming as fast as possible for cheap.
You know whats funny. I undervolted my Zotac RTX 3050 Twin Edge OC 8GB and now its power consumption is only 5-10w more than the power conumstion rating for the RTX 3050 6GB. With my undervolt even if my gpu is at 100% is using 75-85w of power and the performance is still the same or even better.

@5:04 nothing like cleaning a component over your exposed motherboard so all the crap falls into ever port and grove below (useless and it shows the guy is clueless). I would also hoover out all the dust from any 2nd hand PC immediately (and use a soft brush to dislodge dust).

Picked up the 5050 MT a few days ago for £100 came with an i7 7700 , 8gb ddr4 ram , 120gb Samsung ssd and windows 10 installed , Snappy little machine , upgrading to 16gb ram , 1tb nvme for games , 600watt modular psu , and a rtx 3050 , gonna mod the case for 2 intake fans at the front and remove a large portion of the HD drive holder. Should be a good starter pc for my 9yr old son for Christmas Edit: I case swapped the main components and went with the RTX 3060 12gb. Was a fun project although now I'm considering just buying an am4 motherboard and cpu 😂

Surprising how content creators and gaming hardware companies have totally scammed people to upgrade/purchase expensive shit to play remade games from over 2 decades where the character animation still hinges on 16-32 directional movement. Glad to see these guys posting realistic hardware options to play these old ass remakes. My pc is from 2007 and plays all these so called "new" releases from 1998.

The i7-7700k as of today is a solid cpu still. Runs fortnite very well, just above 100fps
