I have this exact same system. I took my upgrade a bit further. 32 GB memory, 4790 CPU, delete DVD and HDD. This BIOS does not support NVMe boot device natively but I installed a PCI-e NVMe adapter and a 1TB NVMe drive. I was able to add NVMe boot support via the method presented in several more recent YT videos. The key was the Service Mode jumper near the white PCI-e slot. The jumper enables writing to the BIOS and when finished removing the jumper again makes the BIOS read only. Making this mod also enables booting in UEFI mode for the NVMe eventhough the BIOS is not fully NVMe. For a basic office PC it is pretty fast on Windows 10 Pro. It won't need to go in the landfill for quite some time.
I bought mine used at Fry's electronics a good 10 years ago for maybe $130. Thought of replacing the disc drive at the time as it had 60,000 hours but I've just let it run and the things run without problem until now for another 10 years. Just have to replace the CD drive Pretty amazing and well-built unit
I just transferred my HP Elitedesk 800 G1 to an old HP Pavilion case, added a gtx 1650 and I'm playing Forespoken right now. Extra things I had to do: 1.) Remove the power switch and lights from the front cover button, insert into the from cover of the Pavilion. 2.) To use my Elite desk cooling fan, I had to find some nuts that fit on the bolts in the fan too attach it to the mother board. The Elit desk mother does not have built in nuts. The fan bolts into the case. It ain't pretty but works like a champ.
Was the power supply compatible with this motherboard? I know HP is using this type of connections more often but not sure if I have seen those in a Pavilion case. Learned some new stuff thanks my guy !! well if u can get me know with what is the difference in 2 ram challens and 2 ram slots i know like 4 slots in 2 challens but why not in 1 challen only or on 4 seperate challens ?
Typically desktop CPUs have two channels supported in the CPU architecture. It can be a lot higher for server CPUs (like Xeon). The best is to have at least one DIMM in each channel of the same type (speed, size,...). The amount of slots is normally a budget choice. Cheaper motherboards would have 2 slots (one per channel) and more expensive/luxury boards have 4 (2 per channel). As far as I know this is just a budget choice.

Greetings, I have a question. When I added an Nvidia Quadro video card, it does not show me the boot options. When I want to enter the BIOS or flash disk, the Windows screen appears directly to me. Is it possible to help? Thank you.
Could it be that the primary display is set different in the BIOS? If I remember correct, you can choose between auto, on-board or PCIe. You would need that last option in order to display the BIOS on the PCIe card.
hello , i have a same model but when i start my pc i cannot get any screen. windows 11 already installed. i dont know what is the reason. can you help me ?
Not having anything on the screen can have a lot of causes. Assuming that the monitor still works, Is there still power? Lights on/fans spinning? If there is, try with only one DIMM or a know good one. If that didn't help, there is probably something wrong with your motherboard or CPU.
Question, I have that same HP 800G1, I am going to install a Geforce GTX1650, I know the power comes from the PCI-E rail thru this 240 watt power supply. Nividia recommends at least 300 watt power supply. Will the GPU still work and will it work properly? If I upgrade the PSU, the watt at the rail would not increase anyway right?
a GTX1650 is rated at 75W maximum, so the recommendation of 300W includes all other components. If you have just that card and maybe an SSD as devices that draw power (plus your motherboard, CPU and memory), you should be fine with the 240W power supply. The PCIe slot can provide maximum 75W so that will not chance by upgrading the PSU but if your total consumption would be over that 240W (due to additional cards and drives for example), a more powerful PSU could help there.

hello is it possible to upgrade one of these to an aftermarket motherboard? as long as it is the right size do you think the pins will all be compatible? i know these have a proprietary connector for the power supply but not sure about the others
It would be really hard. Better to get another (cheap) case and power supply. The board is completely custom, so mounting holes, back panel layout, power supply,...
There is no M.2 slot for an SSD on the motherboard so you would need a PCIe card for that. The GT640 should work just fine as long as it is a low profile card.

It is 1600Mhz and that's the maximum supported by the board/CPU in this machine. As far as I know there is no way to force it, it's just what is detected. Out of experience I know that is not always going properly. CPU-z does tell the real speed, which is half with DDR

Good Morning I have a machine of the same model. Please I would like a tip I want to run games on it and for that I need a video card. In this case which one would be compatible with this machine model. thanks for your video. BRASIL
AMD RX560 or NVIDIA 1050Ti should still work and are more or less ok with the rest of the hardware. The limit is the power supply and the fact that the card has to be mainly slot powered.
The board is pretty custom for this case. A standard power supply or standard board would also not fit in here. The board can't be powered by a normal power supply either (or you'd need conversion cables).

OMG the hard drive bays on these are absoltue aweful. I don't know how you can scr33w up a 5.25 and a 3" drive bay but HP found a way. You can forget the traditional mounting via 4 side or bottom screws. There is no way to mount either drive in here without them flopping around. I finally just shoved a drive in there floating around and used foam to keep it from rattling. And opening the case was infuriating as well. Instead of two screws on the back, there is a handle you have to pull up and yank on the top cover of the case. WTF. seriously. WTF HP. PC techs do not appreciate change. Or non proprietary connectors. I would say, avoid these machines, even if theyseem like great buys. You can't put a ful height GPU in them, and the power supply is propreitary and only 250 watt. They are not as awful as Dells or Macs, but they are not much better either.
You do need to special mounting screws indeed, which can be a pain as they are not so easy to find. Without them it indeed feels pretty clumsy. Agree on using proprietary connectors. Moving the motherboard or PSU to another case is near impossible so you can only use HP-specific replacement parts. About the GPU, I guess this is simply not targetted at users that want a decent GPU. The tower version would be a better match in that case.
@@Irishkiwi No, that requires both an 8-pin and 6-pin power connector and the PCs power supply has no GPU cables, so only lower power (75 watts or less) cards can work

As far as I can find, it means processor not installed. So try to re-seat it maybe or test with another if that's an option.
@@jensdbe thanks✨
Mine is a prodesk but in the bios it says elitedesk does any1 know why
Hi I wanted to know for the Hyperx ram was it DDR3 or DDR4 just wondering which one you used?
Only DDR3 is supported
Now i am facing a error FRONT USB 1 AND 2 NOT CONNECTED😢😢
Hi yes. Does this computer support 1333mhz ram? Although the cpus supported for the computer all support the ram but I've never seen anyone try it before
As far as I know it supports up to 1600Mhz RAM. In any case it should work but might be running at a lower speed.
@@jensdbe alright thank you
@@jensdbe its just showing 1600mhz ram even though all cpus supported on the computer supports 1333mhz ram
@@jensdbe if its alright with you could you try testing it out if 1333mhz ram works with the system?
Subbed btw. You provide Great information about computers
Can i put in a bigger powersupply?
It's a custom power supply so a generic ATX one will not fit and not be possible to connect.
So I'm afraid the answer is no.
@@jensdbe okay thanks!
And it's original powersupply enough for an a8-6500b
14gb ram and a gt 1030 oc edition?
I want to run windows on an SSD. Is the Hard Disk Required?
SSD is fine and works well.
would these play beam ng drive effectively?
It will be on the limit and will required a video card upgrade as far as I can see.
Is it HDMI compatible?
With a DisplayPort to HDMI cable, you can connect the PC to HDMI, yes. This works fine.
@@jensdbe awesome, thanks!
What type of RAM did you use?
The RAM is Kingston HyperX DDR3, not sure about the exact type. I noticed that these line of HPs are not very picky with memory.
@@jensdbe tysm for replying! I recently bought a RAM for my computer but the RAM doesn't fit so I've been researching. Hopefully it fit this time.. Thanks again!!
Can it fit i5 6500?
No, I don't think it is supported. Only 4th generation Intel Core.
Hello, would i be able to upgrade graphics to GTX 550 ti ddr5 (hp 800 g1)
I have a similar question. I have the same pc with also 240W power supply. Would I be able to install a 1050 ti low profile without Power problems?
To your question. I think no you can't because you need a low profile gpu and the 550 ti isn't one as I know :)
@@bekirgencer4464 yeah I saw it I guess I'll play with Intel hd 4600 😅
@@Немања-ф3ф you could buy a gtx 1050 low profile ist is really cheap if you can find one for around 50-80 USD or Euro it would be much better then the hd graphics :) or of you can afford it a 1050 ti would be perfect or a 1650 super of course both in low profile
I have gtx 1650 super,works fine.
Hey I need your help I have a mac pro 5,1 and its stuck in target mode disk I cant reset neither do anything do you know how to fix ?
cpu made in VIETNAM
So?
This must be cooler temperature than the Dell optiplex Sff
You shouldn't touch the CPU after cleaning it, you don't want that skin oil all over it ;)
Too late :)
I don't think it has that of a negative influence, especially compared to the old thermal paste.
How about the cpu thermal paste? Base on your video you didn't put one.
I do put that, see at 7:29 :)
where tf is the graphics card
The video card is onboard
Can you add a graphics card?
Sure, most low profile cards that do not require external power (like a 1050Ti or 1650) should work.
@@jensdbe would an rx580 nitro 8gb work?
@@Irishkiwi No, that requires both an 8-pin and 6-pin power connector and the PCs power supply has no GPU cables, so only lower power (75 watts or less) cards can work
