Sammy Hagar is the one associated with the Tequila Brand, not David Lee Roth. David was the original Van Halen frontman. He tried to make a single career, but it didn't take off as he had hoped. Van Halen then took on Sammy Hagar who had been a solo act with some success. "Jump" is a great example of Pop Rock & seemed to give rise to Hair Bands/Hair Metal. "Panama" is a better pure Rock tune, IMHO.
Agreed…. Valerie Bertinelli talked about how Ed wrote Jump after watching their cat jump from her lap to Ed’s he was playing that riff over and over one night waking her up and she had to be up at 5am yelling at him please stop or go to the other bedroom he said sorry honey I love you and went down to the other bathroom and made Jump …❤
I love the lyrics the song talks about being proactive in your life and don't be afraid to jump into because you never know until you try. Very relatable to me. I also love the music as well.
It could be but everyone perceives a song and takes in the lyrics differently. I also was raised in a church that said another one bites the dust is about smoking weed. One persons meaning may be different from another ones. Music is like poetry cause for interpretation by the listener not necessarily the artist.
I saw them in 1984. Was an awesome show. David Lee Roth wore assless chaps. Showing everything God gave him. Lol. Eddie is one of the best guitarists in music history. May R.I.P. 🎸
Though brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen were born in Holland... their parents immigrated with them to America by boat in 1962 with little money with a piano. Their parents provided some entertainment on the boat to help pay for the fare. They were just young boys at the time. Family landed in NYC and took a train to their new lives in California.... So still much of their growth to be what they became was in America to adulthood.
They had the funnest videos!! ❤✌️ Gotta love them. Diamond Dave was such a great frontman. Eddie's smile melted a million girls heart's . Sammy Haggar had the tequila.
Nobody is studying the lyrics. It’s all about the music, the energy, the vibe.. And the guy playing the keyboard part and guitar is the one that came up with it (the intro) to answer your question. Long live the king of six strings and ten fingers, Mr. Edward Van Halen. They changed music in 1978 forever. “Mean Street” is next. It’s way more dirty. David Lee Roth is basically rapping through the most bad ass rock grove ever. Sammy Hagar’s biggest hit with VH during the MTV 90’s, was “Right Now”
Anybody else remember what they were doing at midnight on New Year's day 1984? I was at a slumber party with my friends waiting for this video to drop on MTV.
I met David Lee in 1990 and he is a very nice guy and very humble. I think it was all for the stage. I had a poster on my wall when I was 12-13 yrs. Wish I still had it.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Kool and gang opened up for van Halen 2012 tour David Lee Roth loved them and asked them to open their tour fans gave Kool standing ovation all night on tour
I'm grateful to be an '80s baby & lived in the times of three iconic classic hit songs titled "Jump". •1983, The Pointer Sisters' "Jump"• •1984, Van Halen's "Jump"• •1992, Kris Kross' "Jump"•
Oh wow! What a great way to start my Sunday morning! David Lee Roth jumping & dancing, Van Halen playing...so many of us had crushes on those guys!!! Thanks for sharing!
May I recommend Groove Is In the Heart by DeeLite? Bootsy Collins, Maceo Parker, Q-Tip and Lady Miss Kier with MC’s- all in one song!!!! It’s a GROOVE. ❤😊❤
I grew up a Braves fan watching them on TBS but when they weren't on I watched the Cubs on WGN and this was their theme song it was great Mark Grace Ryne Sandberg and all those guys loved it! love baseball and good tunes...
I was a teenager when Van Halen exploded . They revolutionized what rock music was. Van Halen is all about Eddie's mind blowing guitar style and other worldly talent. From " Ain't Talkin bout Love" with David Lee to "Best of Both Worlds" and "Summer nights" with Sammy ,it's about the guitar. Both singers were great, but Eddie is the reason to k changed forever, and the reason It's Van Halen!
You need to watch Eddie Van Halen's Eruption guitar solo from their without a net tour. It is Eddie at his very greatest. We miss the GOAT'S music now that the greatest guitarist died.
Hey fellas good reaction. first & foremost RIP Eddie van Halen!! I have always been from the school of ""if it's not broken don't fix it " that said I've always felt like the band was better with him . David Lee Roth is practiced in martial arts.also Eddie is playing the awesome riff in MJ's beat it ❤
The 80's bands new about live music, no tech to adjust the voice or sound or both.Talent is something that is hard to come by in true form. I don't know but is quiet nostalgic watching David showing his martial arts skills.
Sammy Hagar had Cabo Wabo number two front man for the best guitar player ever RIP KING EDWARD if you want to see a longer guitar solo watch ERUPTION video by Van Halen
Hagar launched the Cabo Wabo Tequila line in 1996. SAMMY HAGAR Says “It Was The Craziest Thing In His Life” When He Sold Cabo Wabo Tequila For $100 Million. He now owns a collection of spirit brands including Santo Spirits, Sammy's Beach Bar Rum and Sammy's Beach Bar Cocktail Co.
Hey some more 70’s Rock Bands you might not be familiar with but are worth listening too, assuming you haven’t listened to them, would be; The Obvious choice would be Pink Floyd. They were a blues based Rock Band Pink Floyd. Probably their biggest hit…and they had a lot of them…was Comfortably Numb. Wish You Were Here is a great tune, as is Money. My all time favorite Floyd song is Brain Damage/Eclipse. A note on Pink Floyd. Their albums were thematic in nature with all the songs revolving around a central theme so it’s kind of like to appreciate one of their songs you really have to listen to the entire album that the song is on. Their Dark Side of The Moon album is still one of the best selling albums of all times and it came out in 1974, I believe. Another is by Country Rock Legends Lynyrd Skynyrd. I’d be shocked if you haven’t heard Sweet Home Alabama. The song isn’t really about Alabama but was a rebuttal to Neil Young’s popular song Southern Man which was a criticism of segregation and Jim Crow in the South which offended Skynyrd as not everyone in the South was a racist segregationist (several members of Skynyrd were Black Men). It was the band’s way of telling Neil Young that let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Skynyrds best song was an accidental hit. They wrote a song that had a long guitar riff in it just as a way to give the lead singer a break to rest his vocal chords in the middle of the show. They called the song Freebird. The riff sounds like a single madman going to town on a guitar solo the first time you hear it. It’s actually a three guitarist riff where the guitarist are playing in harmony. Best guitar jam ever recorded. Last but not least is their song Give Me Three steps which is a hilarious song about getting in trouble because of a woman that most guys can relate too. One last 70’s band I’d like to suggest is another blues based Rock Band called Foghat. Two of their best songs are Slow Ride and Fool For The City. The first time I tried weed Slow Ride was playing on the stereo. I couldn’t have picked a better song to play for the first time getting high. Love you reviews man. Keep them coming.
I used to think DLR said he had his back against the wrecking machine, lol, but he actually says record machine. I think he's talking about the record label
Runnin With The Devil, I'll Wait, Panama, Dreams, Love Walks In, Why Can't This Be Love, Poundcake, Right Now. DLR solo "Just Like Living In Paradise" and "Yankee Rose".
It is interesting that you said “they should have given Eddie a longer guitar solo in the song” - bet Dave agreed. Part of the reason for their break-up of the band is that Eddie wanted to add more synthesizer music into the songs, but Dave wanted to keep it rock ‘n’ roll not add new wave 80s synthesizer music… my guess is Eddie shortened his guitar solo so he play more synthesizer - just a guess…
I remember having a huge crush on Tom. I was only a teenager, but Tom was 🔥 hot. It was great seeing him this way once again. My whole family loved his show. Enjoy your journey. ❤
It never ceases to amaze me how lazy and unprofessional some filmmakers are. They get shooters and editors that don't play, so they have no idea what sound comes from what instrument. That means they're often showing us something boring when they could be showing us the most interesting thing going on. In this, except for the solo, Eddie's on keys the whole song. But instead the director has him air-guitaring like someone who knows nothing about music. Roth even makes fun of it by putting 'piano hands' into the shot of Eddie playing guitar. In this case, they didn't even dust off the keyboard before shooting, which amazes me because this band was already big when this was shot. They deserved a far more professionally produced video. This was high-school quality.
i will thumbs up every single reaction to Jump and any VH !
Me😂❤❤❤❤❤
Still love Van Halen with David Lee Roth! There's some frontmanship there!
David was a martial artist in his spare time and always incorporated high kicks or weapon handling in the act.
benny the jet
Eddie Van Halen is the Greatest guitar player of all time .❤
Long live the Mighty
Van Halen!!!!✌️💛🤘
💯💯💯💯💯
Amen Sweetie ❤😂
The GOAT !!

"Panama" is a better pure Rock tune, IMHO.
I was just thinking it was Sammy not David.
And I'll also throw in the little fact that David Lee Roth HATES Sammy Hagar with a passion. Big time beef right there.
R.I.P Eddie Van Halen...
The Heavyweight Champion of Guitar....
I love the lyrics the song talks about being proactive in your life and don't be afraid to jump into because you never know until you try. Very relatable to me. I also love the music as well.
I read the song was about an obsessed fan who told DLR she would kill herself if he refused to marry her, so he said might as well Jump.
It could be but everyone perceives a song and takes in the lyrics differently. I also was raised in a church that said another one bites the dust is about smoking weed. One persons meaning may be different from another ones. Music is like poetry cause for interpretation by the listener not necessarily the artist.
I read that DLR was watching the news and there was a guy on top of the Arco building threatening to jump so he came up with the lyrics.
Yeah I read that too. I don't know which story is correct.?
Reading deeper into the lyrics, “Jump” is a song about perseverance and going for it -might as well jump - in the most difficult of times.
I saw them in 1984. Was an awesome show. David Lee Roth wore assless chaps. Showing everything God gave him. Lol. Eddie is one of the best guitarists in music history. May R.I.P. 🎸

They had 1 camera in an empty room.
They said they spent more on beer than they spent on the video.
They were a fun band.
They had the funnest videos!! ❤✌️
Gotta love them. Diamond Dave was such a great frontman. Eddie's smile melted a million girls heart's . Sammy Haggar had the tequila.
THEY ROCKED THE 80'S & 90'S🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
I LOVE DIAMOND DAVE!!!
Nobody is studying the lyrics. It’s all about the music, the energy, the vibe..

I was dropping my balls in a girls mouth.

❤❤❤The 80’s were awesome !!’ So much fun !!’ The music was phenomenal!!! 62 now and still enjoy it all !! RIP EVH !! 😢😢
One of my favourite songs
Kool and gang opened up for van Halen 2012 tour David Lee Roth loved them and asked them to open their tour fans gave Kool standing ovation all night on tour
DLR on his own was phenomenal with a phenomenal band that included Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan and Greg Bissonette.
GR8 video folks.. RIP EDDIE

The 90s were good as well
Oh wow! What a great way to start my Sunday morning! David Lee Roth jumping & dancing, Van Halen playing...so many of us had crushes on those guys!!! Thanks for sharing!
Eruption came out 1978. And it was Eddie and Michael Jackson did the first rock collaboration beat it before run DMC and Aerosmith.
Cool and the gang open for Van Halen in 2015. Van Halen was big fans of them.
Roth was a gymnast in school. All from Pasadena, CA.👍🏻👍🏻❤❤❤❤👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🎤🎤🎤🎸🎸🎸🎸
Saw them in concert 4 times, Jump was a great tour! TY for a great reaction!
Dave is an advanced karate practitioner. Check out those roundhouse kicks!!The androgynous look was big back then.
Yep, look at Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart and others in the late 70's and 80's . Or David Bowie.
When i was in High School lots of girls had posters of David Lee Roth in their lockers and the guys had posters of Eddie Van Halen playing guitar.
May I recommend Groove Is In the Heart by DeeLite? Bootsy Collins, Maceo Parker, Q-Tip and Lady Miss Kier with MC’s- all in one song!!!! It’s a GROOVE. ❤😊❤
Cabo Wabo is Sammy Hagar's tequila.
Yes y’all I was obsessed 😍
Me and my sister are supposed to go sky diving and when we go I'm gonna have this song playing in my ears with headphones as we jump out the plane
Alex Van Halen is soooo underated as a drummer! It's a damn crime!
Couldn't say it better myself. The Van Halen brothers are truly extraordinary!!!❤😂🎉
The beginning of the end for Van Halen. After Hot for Teacher it all went South
The compliment to this one is “ Panama”….
I grew up a Braves fan watching them on TBS but when they weren't on I watched the Cubs on WGN and this was their theme song it was great Mark Grace Ryne Sandberg and all those guys loved it! love baseball and good tunes...
BANGER 🔥🔥🔥 love Ur reaction guys ❤️😍👍

This tune was hot at the roller rink, back in the day.
... little dreamer... best song Van Halen
Very good you guys haven't heard this for years.
Dave is a black belt ninja for real
checkin in
Definitely would love to hear more Van Halen. Hot for Teacher is a classic 80s tune. Jamie's Crying is a great earlier tune. Great reaction!
Loving what you doing!!! Sweet song & entertainer video.
Hey fellas good reaction. first & foremost RIP Eddie van Halen!! Saw van Halen 3 times 1978 Texas jam Dallas cotton bowl. 1983 Dallas 1984 Dallas
Great showmanship
DLR put Kool and the Gang on tour with Van Halen. Great concert.
Awwww. Brings back memories of Junior High in the burbs of Toronto.
This song isn't deep, but it's positive and fun.
You might have recognized Eddie's playing in Beat It.
Lyrics are nice on Mean Streets
1000 time better then this song.
It was Sammy Haggar, the guy who came AFTER David Lee Roth, that owned the Tequilla company.
I'll wait is a good song also
I loved David Lee Roth in Van Halen! He was the best front man!
This song was a new direction for VH
Kool and the Gang and Van Halen toured together about a decade ago after David Lee Roth returned to VH.
David lee Roth is a black belt in martial arts
Must have been fun being with your brother in the same band...of course talking about Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen, the drummer.
You guys gotta see Eddie Van Halen Live play Eruption guitar solo
DLR was a martial artist. You can see it in his moves. Eddie is considered one of the best guitarists, if not THE best guitarist, of his generation.
Sammy Hagar not David lee Roth Did Cabo wabo... Named after the van Halen song Originally
The 80's bands new about live music, no tech to adjust the voice or sound or both.Talent is something that is hard to come by in true form. I don't know but is quiet nostalgic watching David showing his martial arts skills.
David Lee Roth was a black belt at that time. So all those jumps and kicks are real
Here is one for yall. Gimme Shelter. The rolling stones in Amsterdam live. One of there greatest performances
Went through a lot of batteries on the boom box with this group.
Flashback
I didnt David but I like this song. I Love Sammy H❤ as the lead singer
Roth was a gymnast in school...flexy!!!
Sammy Hagar had Cabo Wabo number two front man for the best guitar player ever RIP KING EDWARD if you want to see a longer guitar solo watch ERUPTION video by Van Halen
DLR loves the camera.
Yankee Rose by DLR
Not to bad for his contribution in the song beat it Eddie van halen r.i.p
I suggest Van Halen Unchained.

I used to think DLR said he had his back against the wrecking machine, lol, but he actually says record machine. I think he's talking about the record label
Thought he met jukebox
Even Sammy Hagar got into the liquor game, followed the exact game plan you described. Strange indeed. DLR actually got into skin care for tattoos.
That's who they were talking about...they mistakenly said David Lee Roth, but it was Sammy who had the Cabo Wabo Tequila since the late '90s.
Let's get rocking with Doobie Brother's, "China Grove!" 🎸 🥁
Post VH David Lee Roth = Yankee Rose
Fellas, U guys need to react to Van Halen's Panama Music Video.
Runnin With The Devil, I'll Wait, Panama, Dreams, Love Walks In, Why Can't This Be Love, Poundcake, Right Now. DLR solo "Just Like Living In Paradise" and "Yankee Rose".
"ICE CREAM MAN" 😎😎😎😎😎👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Sammy was the tequila guy

David was known for snow. And he never made a dime from it
I remember having a huge crush on Tom. I was only a teenager, but Tom was 🔥 hot. It was great seeing him this way once again. My whole family loved his show. Enjoy your journey. ❤
David Lee Roth is a black belt in several martial arts, hence the very limber man.
Yeah he could definitely play a guitar

If not already mentioned below ..Eddie did guitar solo on MJ "Beat it"
Mixed martial arts- that’s how David Lee Roth did all that- fun fact. ❤
Eddie played the solo on Michael Jackson's "Beat It."
Cabo wabo was sammy hagars
Glam rock is like Bowie,
