@@MrMustard2U Trust me, I'm not high, I'm going by what I heard in concert. I never questioned any of Dave's contributions to the band or Van Halen's accomplishments, they were one of the greatest bands of all time and one of my favorites. On the albums, Dave's voice is more polished and by the way, he isn't the only singer who doesn't sound as good in concert.

@fredwerza3478 I don't recall anyone saying he couldn't sing. I specifically said he didn't have a great voice and after seeing him in concert I stand behind that. He was a showman and did everything you want from a frontman. If you take a poll and ask for the best voices in rock, it's doubtful Dave is anywhere near the top singers.

Totally enjoyed this reaction. A treat to share this along with you. Your enthusiasm was infectious. Eddie will go down in history as one of the most influential electric guitarists ever. Van Halen honed their craft performing hundreds of concerts almost anywhere and everywhere and Eddie wore that ever so charming smile to every one of them. They had the knack to write songs that just stuck in your head with great hooks, great playing and underrated but super harmonies which were uniquely theirs alone. There are far worse rabbit holes to journey down than VanHalen.

I was a junior in high school when I saw this Van Halen concert in austin, tx thanks to my sister who was a student at the University of Texas. She bought me two tickets which were going for $25 a piece. Times have changed. They weren't front row but I didn't need binoculars. I took my cousin who was starting med school. Great show. True comment from a producer of Van Halen: "one day, after Eddie had been in the studio for 7 hours recording tracks, an assistant came up to him & told him "a hit & run driver smashed your car out on the street" this was the same day he burned himself on his stove at home & had to wear a bandage for a week, and he found out that one of his financial advisors was stealing from him only the day before. Eddie STILL had a smile on his face. He smiled whenever he had his guitar in his arms, a cold brew or hot coffee nearby; no matter what else had occurred. He was a happy man who knew he was blessed. He never spoke a negative nor hateful comment about anybody, not even David Lee Roth after Van Halen & Roth split up. Eddie was a talent the likes of which had never existed, and we will never see in our lifetimes again. God Bless EVH..........he's up there rocking with the best of the best...............playing LEAD...........and SMILING non-stop! Someday, I hope to pass by him, shake his hand, and tell him Thank You for the memories! I bet he will be smiling!

Tasha, it’s so nice to see you fall head over heels, no pun intended, in love with Van Halen. They have a special place in rock history and as everyone has already told you Eddie was one of the best guitarists that ever lived. You would enjoy the song Panama. Looking forward to your continued enjoyment of this band. 🔥

The thing I've always liked about these guys is, while all the other bands of the day tried to look tough, these guys are always smiling and having fun. I loved the 80s!!!

David Lee Roth was a showman and he didn’t spend a lot of evenings alone. Lol. Eddie was one of the most inspirational guitarist to come out in the period. Older brother Alex is a great drummer and Michael Anthony is a really good bassist Fun rabbit hole

I saw Van Halen in 1976 when i was a kid , in backyards and later on the Sunset strip...I saw Every tour starting in 1978
I learned to play guitar and i had a successful career in the music industry because of my immediate and absolute obsession with the music of Van Halen. Edward Van Halen was my idol as a teenager. i am thrilled to see your eyes light up and you laugh and smile as the Magic of Van Halen hits you! Van Halen is one of the Greatest Rock Bands in history.
Your next video ,in my opinion, is their BEST video. Van Halen at their peak ,
" Van Halen Unchained Live Oakland 1981" Cheers !!

They were also very diverse in the music styles they could pull off. Check out their remake of Motown tune "Dancin' In The Streets" and the old blues remake "Ice Cream Man."
