    We have had Bosch washer, dryer, oven, combo fridge and freezer, and a dishwasher for 18 years. The washer and dryer both broke last year after 17 years within a couple of weeks. The washer had a heating element exchanged once due to wrong use. This year the dishwasher broke after 18 years without service calls. The oven and fridge+freezer is still going no service.

    There’s Whirlpool near the top of the reliability ratings again. I’d buy a Miele before a Bosch as I love my Miele vacuum and I’ve dealt with Bosch customer service concerning a previous vacuum cleaner, a washing machine and a faulty set of spark plugs in a car and choose not to speak with Bosch customer service again. They believe that they’re better than they are and like the Pope they’re infallible. They don’t make good on their faulty products. They blame the customer.
    Miele has delivered friendly service. Whirlpool fixed the leaking grommet that they redesigned in the ice maker in my refrigerator.
    Theses things count.

    As Domestic Appliance Engineer in the UK for the last 25 years (didn't watch the video, just posting my opinion from experience) miele dishwasher in 2021 is far superior to any Bosch. If you'd asked me in the late 90s early 00s, I'd have thought you crazy to buy the Miele over the Bosch of the time. But the rubbish they've been churning out via China, Turkey, Spain is absolute tripe. Using the brand name to hoodwink people into buying a very cheaply made piece of junk. Personally I think the Miele dishwasher is too expensive for normal folk and not worth the expense, so please take my advice and if in the UK consider the John Lewis own stuff. Sure its not as good as the Miele but for less than half price, it's a very solid machine (rebadged Electrolux (who own Aeg and ZANUSSI amongst others)
    I would however recommend the cheapest Miele washing machine or in recent times, EBAC washers. Anyway all the best and please don't buy Bosch stuff, you really may as well buy Beko (as they assemble most of the bosch stuff these days) obviously I do appreciate the Bosch range for keeping me busy... 😅

      Most Bosch dishwashers in the US come out of a plant in North Carolina that seems to have been quite a success for them. I wonder if their other plants fall short.

    • @lennycook206
      @lennycook206 2 года назад +1

      @@dblissmn it's the way of the world these days for successful brands to "farm out" their manufacturing to cheaper companies or to sell low level stuff that's rebadge under licence. In Europe the last 10 years, the quality of all machines has gone down hill massively. I service machines that are 15+years old and were built like tanks yet write off current stuff that is woefully expensive due to a recognised badge, yet is only good for the recycling plant after only a couple of years. If you want a real Bosch in Europe you need to buy a Gaggenua, Siemens or possibly a Neff (all brands owned by Bosch) as they still build those with that hallowed German quality, the difference is chalk and cheese. There is a backlash against this cheap (though not cheap by price) nasty stuff and I'm sure in the next few years the quality will come back due to demand. We have a "right to repair" movement that is a direct reaction to the trash we've been sold in recent times.

    Bought 4 Miele kitchen appliances two years ago. Steam oven has had two issues and the six burner cook top also had two issues. The dishwasher gets the most use and has been flawless. I run the Miele conditioner ever 60 loads. Best dishwasher ever……..

    • @davidarnovitz628
      @davidarnovitz628 2 года назад +3

      @@QJHKI the Steam Oven is one of the very best kitchen appliances I ever used. My Wife recently got her dream kitchen and a microwave was not in the plans. While I complained about it, I lost the discussion. I have come to realize a steam oven if far superior to the best microwave. Now if you are reheating, yes it take three minutes longer but the food is never ever altered in any way like texture and taste. The first issue was it stopped making steam. Turns out it needed to be reset most likely due to scale. The steam generator was replaced and the great tech said to descale everything two months instead of when the oven tells you to. May have been fine with another descale but he replaced it anyway. The second issue was during the descale operation, the oven lost it’s programming for some unexplained reason and would not pump out the water from the oven cavity. The tech reprogrammed the oven through an optical port on the front panel. Fast and easy. Now none of this cost me any cash but……best advise I can give is if water Is connected to the appliance, get the extended warranty. Yes pricey but five years with no unexpected repair cost is always nice. As measure, the tech said a new steam generator is 600-800 USD and a brain for our big Master Chief Wall Oven is 1,100 USD. The dishwasher is so far better than any I ever owned or saw in action. FYI

    We have a Bosch with Crystal Dry which we didn’t understand. We feel we must leave the door closed for a long time for dishes to dry. It takes a long time to wash, way more than 60 minutes, but maybe we’ve selected something incorrectly. It is QUIET! 40db. So much so that it has a Red Light that shines on the floor indicating it is running. That has taken getting used to. Our home is 45db when quiet. We don’t hear the dishwasher, but can notice the water hitting dishes occasionally. We have Miele washer and dryer that we like, but would likely replace with simpler set should they fail. We just needed a replacement dishwasher and heard Bosch was good. May have inadvertently bought a great one. Will consider Miele in future if we ever need another.

  • @dblissmn

    I think a lot of this comes down to how people use the dishwashers. Even cheap stuff can last if it doesn't get clogged up with excessive soap or hard water. I recently bought a condo and just replaced the 16-year-old developer special plastic-tubbed $450 Frigidaire (still repairable -- the circulator pump, a very easy repair on that machine, appeared to be about to go, and then the main control switch on the front started to fail, at which point I decided it was time) with a Bosch 800-series, as Miele was going to be out of stock locally for months. The Bosch seems far better thought out than the Frigidaire on drying, and a tad better on wash too, but I hope the parts availability will be as easy.

    I disagree about Miele. Our dishwasher cost €1,500 (a little more in dollars) 6 years ago when it broke down. Technician informed us that we should have been at 3,500 washes according to their average annual use promise. We had only reached 2,400 .. he said I should have gotten another 14 years or 7,000 washes according to their calculations. Then he told me that we needed a new pump/motor for €650! I tried to contact customer service but they are awful ... don't want to help, say they didn't get message, request details again and customer service manager will not call me back. My washing machine, dryer, fridge freezer and vacuum cleaner are all Miele ... I will never buy this brand again. Bad things happen but the way a big brand assists and fixes the problem demonstrates their professionalism and excellence ... Miele have failed dramatically on this occasion. 😔

Miele got rid of their experienced parts/repair phone support staff (here in the states) and now have generic phone support that has no idea about spare parts or what parts you need for your specific dishwasher model. They push onsite visits from their expensive repair technicians (who don't do onsite service of Miele appliances in my area, not that I'd want to pay their high prices).

    I hope you can help. Purchased a Bosch shsm63w55n 1 mo ago [best available]. Initially, there was an installation issue due to a pipe at 45 degree angle at bottom of cabinet. Each time used, experience multiple flashing red light issues, last week due to water in adjacent cabinet, not more serious gratefully due to safety feature. Can't help but think that the solid back of Bosch unit vs pipe is the problem. Would appreciate recommendations on substitute unit if true. Thanks so much in advance.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  Год назад

      Evan, as long as the unit clears the pipe then it shouldn't interfere with the units operation. There are still some units out there with an "open bottom." meaning the back 1/3 of the machine is missing to allow for a taller pipe etc. Many of those have gone away as they tend to be on the lower end of the price points. For these issues, we usually have good luck with KitchenAid. Hopefully that helps!

      Better is a tough word because really it's what is better for you. Bosch is a European dishwasher that cleans and dries well and is very quiet. LG is an American dishwasher that cleans well and hits some great price points so there is a lot of value there. The smell you are referring to is due to the Eco product they use for their insulation. It does have an odor that if you have a high sensitivity to it it can take a little while to subside.

Even though the machine is out of warranty, I expect that the machine should last a lot longer than it has. The machine is still like new and hardly used.
