    Bosch markets 53 dishwashers to KitchenAid’s 6, so you may have different desirable feature combinations with the Bosch brand. Of course, many are just style differences, whether you want controls on the top or face.
    However, looking at these dishwashers and their prices, KitchenAid may be a good consideration, especially the 604 model series at $1,299. It has all the main features of their better models. Their quieter 204 series model lacks the drying and racking features but is noiseless and $300 less.
    Bosch will have better drying, especially with the Crystal Dry option. For panels, Bosch is designed for a panel, KitchenAid really is not. Then there is service.
    Service is a problem no matter where you shop. You should be aware of this before you buy any appliance. In a comparison this close, the brand offering better product service in your area will be your best option.

    I originally bought a Bosch & the delivery date got changed 4 times & I was lied to with 2 of those dates. I really wanted a Bosch this time but I canceled the order not knowing if I was ever going to get it. So I was able to buy a Kitchenaid 204 that was in stock. I was apprehensive since it replaced a Kitchenaid that lasted 7 yrs. It was the best dishwasher I ever owned. So far I am loving the 204! Contrary to your video my 204 is excellent at drying & it cleans great also. I have no regrets so far. I did not have a water softener when I owned the old dishwasher but recently had one installed so it may help the longevity of the 204 I hope. I have gone through several dishwashers & washers & I think the hard water was a big part of the problem. You are my go to review guy for appliances. Thanks so much for taking the time to educate us consumers!

    I just fixed our Kitchen Aid dishwasher that had been having troubles with the electrical panel going off and on intermittently. The control panel had always been glitchy and we had a repairman come in several times who told us the computer was probably going out and this was when it was barely 2 years old. He told us we would need to replace the machine when it finally died. Well, I took the door off and noticed the connection was loose. So I pushed it back in and the dishwasher panel works perfectly now. I also cleaned the latch too. 🎉

    I’ve had three Kitchenaids, two of which came with houses I’d moved into and were quite old (over twenty) when I moved in and one that I purchased. I purchased one Bosch and after five years the racks began to deteriorate. I spoke with two friends who’d experienced the same problem. I’m happy that I have my current Kitchenaid and I’m pretty sure that I’ll stick with the brand.

      I had an original KitchenAid Dishwasher by Hobart when I bought my new house in 1984 . I sold that house back in February 2022 still using the running without issue KitchenAid/Hobart … appliances will never last that long again !!!

    Prices have really come down since the pandemic and supply chain shortages. In June 2024 I was able to get the Kitchen Aid 204 for $749 installed with haul away of the old dishwasher. That included a $100 discount because I bought 2 appliances at the same time.

    Don’t be too quick to discount the internal light on the KitchenAid, especially for older eyes. We have had the (lighted) KitchenAid for a couple years and love it. We’re now selecting appliances for a new house build and selecting mostly Bosch appliances, but going with the KitchenAid dishwasher because of the internal light.

    We purchased a Bosch dishwasher (SHX56B05UC) in 2003 which lasted over 12 years without any issues. Remodeled the kitchen in 2016 and installed whirlpool gold series appliances (dishwasher WDT920SADM). Within warranty, it was repaired once (would not drain). In the last 2 years we have had to pay the following repairs out of pocket… replace pump motor, replace water valve, replace rack wheels. The unit needs repairs again. currently starts cycle but stops a few minutes in. Tired of spending money on this lemon. Will never buy whirlpool again. Listening to CR and shopping for a Bosch dishwasher.

    I bought a Bosch serial 6 slim washer second hand and can’t find instructions anywhere, I just want to turn the time down from three hours cleaning. I love it all the same, just wish I didn’t have to wait three hours for it to finish.

    Researching both dishwashers, I read that the KitchenAid leaks on the floor, according to the Home Depot reviews. Is that an installation problem or a manufacturing problem? I'm happy to hear that Bosch has a Crystal Dry component because wet dishes was a major complaint in the Home Depot reviews.

    • @YaleAppliance1

      More than likely an installation issue. Very rarely is a machine going to leak right out of the gates with a proper installation.

    • @YaleAppliance1

      Unfortunately, I can't be as accurate with data after the year because people will go anywhere for service. Condos/apartments will flip as well, so the owners wont know to call us. Bosch and KitchenAid are both produced here, so parts are pretty solid for both.

    How reliable are LG dishwashers? They seem to have great features and options, with a great look and feel. I don't see them mentioned much, it is usually Bosch or KitchenAid.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  2 года назад +1

      LG makes a good machine. We seem to do more business with them in the $500-$800 range but they make a unit for almost any price point/consumer. Knock on them (not unlike KitchenAid) is that they make an American style dishwasher that protrudes from the cabinet and most consumers do prefer a flush look.

      @@YaleAppliance1 I didn't realize that difference between Euro and American style dishwashers! I bought a kdpm604kps and it does stick out a little bit from the counter and cabinets. I didn't realize there was a style difference like this. Thanks.

    Hi Steve, I always refer to your videos. Thank you so much. Do you have a video on the new Insta view LG refrigerator. I think you do and I may have watched it but if you could just refer it to me again. As you know I live in Canada and I ended up buying a LG Insta view fridge as I thought they were spacious and beautiful and the icemaker is totally separate from the fridge. However, my fridge is still in a box until my kitchen gets completed.I do hope I made the right choice. I was looking at Bosch as well, but I prefer the LG Instaview fridge. Take care Steve, Susan from Canada

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  2 года назад +1

      LG has a bunch of InstaView models so I guess it would depend on the specific one you chose. That said LG and Bosch make the best freestanding refirgerators on the market. If LG suits your personal needs better I would say you made a great choice for yourself.

      KitchenAid makes great dishwashers in all price points. Their better units have a Pro wash and a Pro dry as well as the deepest 3rd rack in the industry. It's one of the few brands of dishwashers that when you level up they make it worth your while.

    • @YaleAppliance1

    You’ve mentioned in a couple of your videos the term, “glide out racks.” I’m confused by this. Don’t all racks glide out so you can load them? And if they don’t glide out, what is the mechanism by which you pull them out to load? Please clarify. Thanks in advance.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  Год назад

      Glide racks are on ball-bearing glide systems that allow for full extension. The standard racks only come out about 3/4 of the way and are hard to maneuver in and out of the oven.

    I have had a Bosch dishwasher for 15 years and every repairman I have had has complained about the difficulty of connecting the copper water line to the front of the washer. There is barely any room to use any tool to connect it. That is not good engineering.
