We have a 300 series and a nice feature is that there is actually a pan built into the bottom of the dishwasher that collects any leaks or overflow and pumps it out and won't run the unit until the pan is drained. That feature may be in others, but I haven't seen it before.

I had to go with the 500 or above. I chose the 500 because of the gliding racks. You get something heavy on one and you need that glide. Also, the 500 had more reviews and seemed the 800 had more complaints. Thanks!!

I have the Silence 50, bought it last November. Have to say it cleans very well and is very quiet but does not hold nearly as many dishes as my 23 yr old Maytag that it replaced. Both racks have way too many prongs sticking up to hold anything other than plates. It's very hard to load most any shape of bowl into because they are so close together. The top shelf has the same problem with too many progs and the bottom is angled in several different directions so glasses and cups either tip over or you have to space things further apart than normal because of (guess what?) the prongs are so close together glasses don't fit easily over them. Back to the bottom, the utensil caddies. They are very shallow making it difficult for taller or top heavy utensils to stand up in, they just fall out. I actually have to use the flip down cover on one of them to put regular utensils in thru the holes. This means I wind up having to hand wash more dishes than I used to because I can't fit as much in this Bosch. It's as if the designer made it to fit their dishes and no one elses. Also the bottom rack is not on a track of any kind, just sits on a shelf and pulls all the way off of it and you have to put it back on. Weird. Cleans great, not nearly as functional as I think it should be.

We also replaced a 23 yo Maytag dishwasher. Already kinda teed off I had to qr code my way to basic instructions and tips. Hope I don't regret ditching my Maytag. We were told to expect about 8 years out of this brand new fancy Bosch.

I have an 800 series in the black stainless. You forgot to mention that finish is smudge resistant (and downright gorgeous). The crystal dry works pretty good, doesnt eliminate any standing puddles of water like on cup bottoms but neither does most drying systems.

Ben -- I can't thank you enough for providing this valuable information. The "User's Manual" that came with my Bosch 500 series was worthless, and scanning a QR code to get the info I need is impossible for me, as I don't need or want a fancy phone and furthermore would be unable to see anything on a tiny phone screen. I don't know if you check your comments, but do I have to fill the stupid rinse-aid compartment for every load? It seems to hold barely a half a capful, which runs immediately through the compartment and onto the door of thewasher -- where you are supposed to then wipe excess off before starting machine. Are you kidding me????? Again, you are the best for helping complete strangers figure out how to work their new appliance. With heartfelt thanks, Lynn in Albuquerque

We knew they made good appliances, but were typically out of budget. A couple years ago, our previous dishwasher croaked, and walking into the local Lowe's, they had a Bosch 300 with a dent on the front for a price I couldn't say no to. It's been an awesome dishwasher ever since. Can hardly tell it's running, just have to make sure the rubber seal is clean now and then, but I'll happily invest in another hopefully years from now.

I installed a Bosch model 800 yesterday. Here are the things I don’t like about it. Plastic water supply nipple with a warning that says do not over tighten. Located in the back of the unit. My personal issue is when installing the water supply line you don’t know how much to tighten it. Too loose you have a leak. Too tight you snap or strip the nipple. Plastic feet was also a bad idea. I will say it’s the quietest dishwasher I have ever seen.

For those of you wondering. I did a little research, and found that all Bosch Dishwashers use the same pumps, motors, and most sensors.
So, the overall long term reliability from the cheapest 100 series up to the high end models is virtually identical. The only main difference is the options/bells and whistles.

Same! I can't stand that I have to dry them if I want to put them away otherwise it takes about an hour of venting it to air dry just the glass and ceramic. The plastic stays wet. I'd rather have a heating element instead of the extra hot water that still doesn't dry anything.

On AVERAGE 1/3 of dishes do not get clean, regardless of how or where they are positioned...after six month of practice you can still count on rewashing 1/3! Second, NOTHING fits! There are too many tines, all going different directs, all slanted and too close together. Seriously, after paying a grand, my wife wants it out and back to our old $400 Whirlpool. The Whirlpool Quiet Partner out performs, easier to load, etc. Tines are all vertical and in simple rows and widely spaced...makes it a breeze to load. ONLY advantage, it is quiet...I've heard that if you buy one your eligible to get a "SAP" tattoo across your forehead!
