Ford cars 57-64 used the tubular cross-member. Believe trucks did too. The motor mounts with the single center stud we're for the same years with Y-block, or FE engines. Later years used a motor-mount with two ears, and a horizontal thruogh bolt to the frame bracket. That 69 351 Windsor benefits from a decent compression ratio(about 9.5), and larger valves than the later ones.

26:03 A friend of mine back in HS bought a hotrodded '67 Mustang with a 351c in it. Complained to me that it was noisy, had no oil pressure at idle. I saw a FRAM bomb on the side. Said 'lets put a fresh change of 10w30 and a Purolator on it'. So we did exactly that.
Idle oil pressure went from about 6-7 pounds up to 35+, the ticking went away, it started quicker.
FRAM bombs are terrible. I only ever use them for range targets.

I'm gonna give that a try on my next oil change. I've always ran Fram filters and my engines always last for me. My oil pressure is low at idle, but like I said the engines just keep running. I just assumed old Ford engines didn't need oil pressure at idle...lol. Anyway, now I'm curious if a simple filter change will make a difference for me.

That of course was changed religiously every 3000 miles. Perhaps both of us were lucky all these years, and we may have dodged a bullet once, or 500 times. Stranger things have happened. Sweet rig, Mortske.
That's a 351W for sure. Likely came out of the same 69 full size Mercury as the radio.
67-72 302 pickup truck motor mounts are what you need. They may have been the same as 73-77, I don't really remember. Those 351 Windsors used to be plentiful and cheap. I used quite a few in bumpside trucks back in the day.

Lots of memories and hum or here! A buddy and I swapped a 390 into his absolutely cherry 1958 F100 in place of the Y block about 1971. He went out and actually bought a motor mount kit for it, and the actual swap went well. Rebuilt the engine to 67-68 Mustang specs, and ended up using stock manifolds. Even installed A/C, and a passenger car 4 speed from a Fairlane GT. The 9" had a 4.11 limited slip. Later addition of power steering was essential, replacing the Gemmer manual box. A Saginaw power steering box from a 75 and up Econoline can be fitted, and use the original Pitman arm, but you need to weld up a little bracket for the box, and install a rag joint. Don't use a car steering box, as the direction is reversed...turn left, go right!

One thing to add here, a '69 351w is actually one of the more desirable ones. It's a little bit different than the later engines. Even being a 2v engine, I believe the heads are the same as 4v, just different casting marks. It may also have some desirable rods in it. Back before aftermarket blocks, this was the one to have.

Actually the Cleveland 351 is the more desirable because they have the large port heads that breath well with the valves canted instead of being side by side like the Windsor does . Most of the Windsor engines were casted in Canada & the Cleveland's made here in the states . As for Fram oil filters I have been using them for well over 30 years & haven't had a bad one yet but I have had 1 wix that the anti drain back valve was stuck open on my chevrolet 5.3 LS that was causing lifter noise on start up until I bought another wix then cut the old filter open & found the problem . Way back in the day Fram was the only filter you could buy that was the HP filter that was made with a thicker canister & better stronger filter to use for drag racing on the top fuel nitro engines where those engine pump very high oil pressure to keep the babbitt style crank bearings alive in those 10,000 HP billet aluminum Hemi style engines . I am sure wix probably has already copied these as well not that long ago but Fram was the first to make those style filters because a standard oil filter will fail & burst from the pressure so Fram developed them . If you want to see something cool look up top fuel nitro fuel pressure stages where they have a Hemi cylinder cut so it's just the intake & exhaust port blocked off with thick clear plastic so you can see how much nitro is being pumped in at idle then as it takes off for it's run at WOT & it's amazing how much fuel just one cylinder is pumped through which just at idle stage would drown even a pro stock engine .

Hey Mortske & Duff. Great video as always. Definitely no mistaking big and small 351's. That definitely is a 69 351 W. You mentioned possibly removing some spring leaf's and perhaps lowering the old pick up. Have you ever considered doing a project re-arching or de-arching leaf springs on something you want to raise or lower without spending a fortune on it? I have done it many times using a press and a jig I made to suspend the leaf's. It takes a little time and some new center bolts but works really well especially to fix some sag on one side. There are some good video's on RUclips showing different ways to home bend leaf springs. It's 68 here today. That road test you and Duff did made me cold just watching it. Hope you guys have a great new year my friend. Until next time.

I've re-arched a few springs. By using the press method. Never the hammer method. I picked up an old roller for making steel hoops for wood wagon wheels that I'd like to try repurposing for this matter. Just haven't gotten that far. Have a good one Bob!

Finished watching this first episode of 2022! It has everything a Mortske video should have! You took the starter off only to find that the battery was down to 7 Volts and you didn't edit the whole fiasco out! The seller claimed that it had been a drag truck; with a cobbled up driveshaft, a single 2 barrel carb, a Windsor 351 (well the cubes were accurate) rather than a Cleveland, an open 9.5" diff, no way to get brakes and "Kill you quick" stiff and semi-connected steering. Yeah right Dude, tell me another!
It's almost enough to make a guy stick to repairing Japanese and Korean econoboxes and the occasional pickup truck! Only thing is, repairing that crap would put you to sleep or drive you to drink stronger than "sammiches" or both!
Duff had a love/hate relationship with this Ford refridgerator. He loved the comfy bench seat and the exciting ride but thot fixing it was boring. Yep, a totally Mortske classic! Bodes well for the rest of '22.

I owned a 1960 pumpkin orange with black hood panels detail and pin stripes. same seat color reupholstered, rolled & pleated, black dash with (Go for it) in slime green decal. 312. Bad ass three in the tree. Damn thing was wicked. vibrated in gear, all hydraulic brake and clutch. I did not build it. The body work was done by a Guy named Larry Logston, from Maryville, Illinois. He put a lot of time in it. I got it in 1982, paid 900 hundred for it. Brakes blew lines and it sat, I had to part with it, someone like you picked it up on a farm field for a song. Along with a my 66 VW. with sun roof. Had much fun with both vehicles.

Favorite year model Ferd. Great little truck. 351W is a taller deck than a 289/302 so the intake is an inch or two wider, easy way to tell. A lot of kroil is always better.
