So cool to finally meet your Dad! He is about my age. I had a 1947 CJ2A Jeep back in the early 1970's that I kind of restored, well, got running and drove around for a while. This video is quite interesting to me. Brings back lots of early Jeep memories! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a great year ahead.
Awesome! I learned to drive a stick in a field on a 1952 CJ2a. 4 wh low, 4th gear floored...16mph. 😀 Finally got it stuck going diagonal across some big dirt humps..2 wheels in the air, 2 wheels all the way compressed. Awesome little vehicles.

that thing is worth a trip to a good body shop for paint and interior. it's a collectible for sure. Sounds like your dad wants to restore it. You both seem to have a good sentimental reason to keep it in the family and return it to it's former glory.

Not bad at all, the mention of grandpa brought a tear to my eye I wish I could have spent more time with mine. Hey Mortske & Duff. That was an outstanding video. Really cool to see you and your dad work together. Lost my dad when I was 19. I am a 1955 vintage by the way. Guess that makes me 2 years older than your dad. That's quite a lineage you have when it comes to hotrods and mechanical stuff in general. I met a guy that owned a Conoco station near where I lived. I was around 13. His name was Donovan Crandall. He was an ace when it came to anything automotive and fabricating. I loved shadowing him. He taught me the trade hands on making mistakes as I learned. By age 14 I was rebuilding engines. My first rebuild was a Ford 272 Y-block. Hand cutting ring ridges and grinding valves and seats and knurling the guides. I even learned how to file down knurled pistons to fit. I've probably changed hundreds of points & condenser sets in my career. I still have the AC Delco dwell meter Don gave me in 1970. Merry Christmas to you and Duff. Thanks.

I started selling firewood to make some extra cash during the winter months so my stump was sacrificed for the greater good. Selling firewood is how I plan on buying vehicles like you do. I'm fortunate to live in an area where I can take my modified 1988 Bolens garden tractor behind my house to cut deadfalls. Last year I cleared enough profit to buy my first pro 60cc saw. I bought a Husqvarna 562XP. Now I can cut larger trunks instead of leaving them in the woods. I was going to buy my first project car this winter but my wife got Covid and we had to rely on the extra income from firewood sales to get us through Christmas. I don't mind being patient. I live in Michigan so vehicles here are in a similar condition as the ones you find there. That makes them cheaper 😁 I appreciate all of the work you put into sharing your projects with us. It motives me and I learn a lot. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Actually commenting as Dean-some 60 years ago and beyond I spent quite a few hours with your uncle Jerry and your aunt Deb (who was usually babysitting your uncle Todd) cruising around in the Jeepster so you brought back some great memories for this old timer. Got lots of stories from those days we'll have share over a few beers some time. Glad to see it running again, always thought it was a super cool set of wheels.
Dean! Glad you enjoyed it! Would love to tip a few back with you! I have yet to see this Chevelle that I've heard all about! Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Oh lord Duffer being insistent on getting pettings was a hoot. The color on that Willys has got me going back and pulling from my bottomless well of knowledge of obscure 80s movies and wanting to shout out H.A.R.V. ( Jake Speed to save anyone having to ask)
We had a '46 4-63, 2-WD station wagon. That passenger front seat back should fold down and the entire seat should fold forward. Starting: mechanical choke and throttle. Pull out your choke, a little pull on the throttle, then your foot on the starter. That electric (?) overdrive is like gold. Enables you to make speed on the Interstate. Yours also has an oil filter, mine did not. We added a Franz filter, which used a roll of toilet tissue as the filter. Narragansett Bay
I had that motor in a woodchipper. It sat for 25 years before I got it and has been used for 25 years by my friend who bought it from me. He told me it was built in Muskegon Michigan and that they "run forever...so far."
Hearing ur story makes me think about the 79 Malibu me and my dad built together then a few years later we took the 350 out and put in a 454 I love that car
ZOMG... Mortske gettin' choked up... who's cutting onions in here again... My grandpa was an ambidextrous lead body work man in his life; maybe someday I can show off some of the things he taught me too. #SmilingDown
My 48 Jeepster has a Chevy 350. Turbo 350 trans. Ford 8” rear. Mustang 2 ifs. Yep, got carried away. Had a 50 Willys pickup too. 100% stock. Had a panel delivery for a bit. Kinda rough 48 has flat front fenders. Newer ones have peaked fenders.
I’m almost as excited as Duff, I rode around in one of these when I was a kid. First convertible I was ever in and what a thrill, Really brings back memories. Uncle Jack had a yellow and a red convertible and a green jeep truck just like the one sitting there
My father and I pulled a "nice" ox blood red 49 Jeepster out of a Colorado barn in 1982. Good times spent during the living years. Our old dog absolutely loved the Jeepster. The metal plate on the dash is original.
@@MortskeRepair The mire barn smell left in the better for the dog. Top down and 35mph on a country road is perfect for pure sniffing pleasure! Our dogs would beg and then pile in for a Jeepster ride.
Another excellent video. Back 50 years ago my dad and I tinkered on cars in his garage. Brought back old memories. Ride the lightning 🌩 . Did that myself a few times.
I know this is an older video but I was so happy to see that he got himself a ultrasonic cleaner and was looking forward to when he pulled the parts out and saw how nice a job it did cleaning the carburetor. They are so awesome at cleaning I even use them to clean fuel filters so I can reuse them. 6 L is definitely too small, it is rather misleading I have several and you want to get the largest one you can afford since you can always fill it with water and put the part that you were cleaning inside a jar or a plastic bag with the medium that you want to use to clean it with without having to fill the entire cleaner. You also want to make sure that you fill it more than he did because the heating elements go up farther than you think and can burn out the heating elements in the ultrasonic cleaner ultrasonic cleaner. I have one that I dropped an entire trash pump into to clean used vegetable oil that had petrified itself on to the pump, cleaned it slick as a whistle.
My Grandmother had a 1969 Jeep Jeepster years ago that we plowed snow with for years. The one she had had a hard top and a v6 Buick motor with a 3 speed on the floor. It was a shame it sat outside for years and rusted out. The only thing we managed to salvage was the motor and trans, the motor was later transferred to a 1976 cj7.

Have a Merry Christmas and as always looking forward to the next adventure! Watch out for those fan blades too!!
Thanks for watching and you as well John!
Oh hell yeah!!! Another MULLET MORTSKE MONDAY!!!
Duff has got to be the most loved and popular dog on youtube.
I have a jeep picture of jeeps they hung on a car lot show room wall from 45 to i think 84 , this is the spitting image of the 48 in my picture , yours is beautiful and she sounds great

The last true phaeton built in America-
Dad doesn't understand why you are doing RUclips. Dad comes on one of your videos and it hits 200k+ views in the first week. Classic.
Good timing!
By the power of greyskull × 2..😅😂😅😂
Nice Job!!! Lit off on the first try! That is soooo cool that you got to resurrect your Grampa's Jeepster...He IS smiling down upon you!
Thanks!
Come on papa mortske we need your son, he's a light in these crazy pandemic days! You've got one talented awesome son! Cool ol rig with great family history behind it! Happy holidays to u guys!
You as well!
Grandfather's are the best. Mom's Dad passed a month before I was born so I didn't know him. Dad's father was who I learned a lot from. Fishing, crabbing and boats were Pop's forte. That and drinking Ortlieb's. He was a Chris-Craft guy. Had two different 24' cruisers. He passed when I was 18. I miss you much Romano.
Would love to find one of the smaller versions of those Chris Crafts!
@@MortskeRepair My Uncle hand an outboard gorgeous boat. Finish like glass. My cousin had a 2p' inboard. We live near the Delaware River. I water skied many many times behind it. Talk about flying on water.
i’m going to be there tomorrow can’t wait to see it! i was pumped to see this video pop up didn’t think i would see one before races. Your Mom is fearless in that silver vette!
Everybody is proud of you man. Even duff.
You seem considerably more enthusiastic about the Jeepster now, more so then when you started. I guess that has something to do with your new upbeat attitude. I'm glad because I like this car too.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you MORTSKE!
whitewalls OUT!!!😍
Over 2 hours of Mortske !! Your grandpa is surely proud of you !! Awesome to meet you dad !
I under stand about your grandpa and your Dad, my Dad was a Vietnam vet Sergeant crew chief on C-130, my Dad's Dad my Grandpa fought on Okinawa in ww2 in the army. Family is very special, appreciate them while they're still here, Reynolds tin foil works good for Chrome, Mortske & Duff have happy New Year.
Thanks David! You as well!

I lost my dad about 4 years ago.😞 I think about him every day!😊 he was an animal lover too. Also liked fords. Lol

Congratulations on getting it going your grandfather would be proud! I wish I had someone in my life to have taught me and teach me more about cars that's why I love your channel I learn alot each video
Glad to hear it Billy!
After seeing this car in you Dad’s garage when you did the Skylark LS swap, I had to watch this video next. I love the cars with family connections and I think your Dad will be so happy now this is running and driving.
A lovely thing you’ve done here, love your work
Glad you enjoyed it!
The spark test was classic! The confirmation of spark check was legendary...
Best show ever. Awesome remembering days gone by with your Dad and Grandpa. Stay real.
Thanks much Kyle!
Thanks and Same to you!
Great info!
I had that motor in a woodchipper. It sat for 25 years before I got it and has been used for 25 years by my friend who bought it from me.
He told me it was built in Muskegon Michigan and that they "run forever...so far."
Sweet!
Hearing ur story makes me think about the 79 Malibu me and my dad built together then a few years later we took the 350 out and put in a 454 I love that car
SWEET!!
watching you get choked up referring to your grandfather's reminded me of Both of mine. Thank you Mortske! happy holidays.
Same to you!
Browsing this earlier episode over dinner, I note that Duff's acting chops were fully developed years ago. Consistency is key to great acting!
ZOMG... Mortske gettin' choked up... who's cutting onions in here again...
My grandpa was an ambidextrous lead body work man in his life; maybe someday I can show off some of the things he taught me too.
#SmilingDown
great to include your DAD! More videos with you guys reviving junk!
you are lucky to have had grandparents i had none growing up
Nice ride. And more when I read about the story with your grandfather and dad.
Thanks for the basic repair help to our people of mystery ability.
Our pleasure Chris!
My 48 Jeepster has a Chevy 350. Turbo 350 trans. Ford 8” rear. Mustang 2 ifs. Yep, got carried away.
Had a 50 Willys pickup too. 100% stock. Had a panel delivery for a bit. Kinda rough
48 has flat front fenders. Newer ones have peaked fenders.
Nice!
enjoyed watching this. With you guys working on it, it will be back on the road. Thanks for sharing with us.
You bet!
I’m almost as excited as Duff, I rode around in one of these when I was a kid. First convertible I was ever in and what a thrill, Really brings back memories. Uncle Jack had a yellow and a red convertible and a green jeep truck just like the one sitting there
This episode is so much more special for its sentimentality. Grandpa would have loved it. Subscribed because of this one!
Much appreciated!
Really cool mortske loved hearing a bit about your family I'm sure your grandpa was right there looking over your shoulder
My father and I pulled a "nice" ox blood red 49 Jeepster out of a Colorado barn in 1982. Good times spent during the living years. Our old dog absolutely loved the Jeepster. The metal plate on the dash is original.
Awesome! Great dog cars!
@@MortskeRepair The mire barn smell left in the better for the dog. Top down and 35mph on a country road is perfect for pure sniffing pleasure! Our dogs would beg and then pile in for a Jeepster ride.
@@davidbauer1485 hahaha
That "yup" after the spark sounded just like "did we just become best friends? ... yup!"
That is classic automotive based comedy ... still chucklin'!
What a classic movie quote!
Another excellent video. Back 50 years ago my dad and I tinkered on cars in his garage. Brought back old memories.
Ride the lightning 🌩 . Did that myself a few times.
Glad you enjoyed it Jim!
I like the way Duff gets excited about a new project vehicle. Another cool video, thanks for sharing!👍😎
What a unique old vehicle.....when it's been around that long & specially in the family, it deserves a little TLC...well a lot in this case.
