That bumper sticker was part of a PSA campaign from the seventies. I would be watching Saturday AM cartoons and their ads would come on during commercial breaks.
@@ddivincenzo1194 I remember!
❤❤❤ #MerryChristmas brother! I totally love ❤️ your positive attitude brother! Such an awesome find! I would turn it into a camper bus 🚌 for the family 👪 & travel to a ZZ Top & Lynard Synard Concert brother!
@joshuasjericho3915 Heck Yeah! Would be Awesome! Merry Christmas! 🎄
God bless you and your family this weekend and enjoy your Christmas 🎄! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
These old historical relics represent the very best of how America used to be until the build quality went down under. I've always had a much stronger affinity towards the classic and vintage machines that once roamed the roads back when they were in their prime. Bringing the bus back to life was perhaps one of your best life decisions made yet thus far. Mad props for waking up the beast that spent far too long in silence and neglect.
Hey Thanks! I completely agree!
Most stuff is made in China now and the build quality sucks
Your glasses are a little rose tinted there aye?
I wonder what happened to the church that owned it ?
@@gahsommichael1183 The church is still there and exists from what I know
This has to be the best vehicle restoration video I've ever watched! Thought " over 2 hours I'll never watch the whole thing! " I was captivated! So well done!

Fitting for a Baptist school bus if you think about it.

This is a great story, these old vehicles have so much more character than anything new. 👍👍👍😁🎩
Thanks! That's Right!
What a heartwarming story. Nice to see this piece of history brought back to life. Big surprise how good condition it was despite being parked for many, many years and almost completely overgrown. Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's been an amazing journey!
The Papa November Whiskey seems to be kind to abandoned vehicles.

What a wonderful journey that old bus has had. Sitting overgrown in the bush as she was, to find someone like you to bring her home to her people for a special reunion.
This old guy had a few tears at the end.
Hey Thanks! It was definitely a wonderful journey and experience! I feel blessed to be the one who got to save it and learn it's history!
Hi I'm 81 years old and I rode one of these buses when I was in grade school. You could hear by the wine in the transmission. I lived in the hills of Pennsylvania. It was a great find for you. And I love how your family are willing to put their hands on this project. Have a blessed time restoring it.
Thank You David! I appreciate that. God Bless!
Man, I wasn't really prepared to commit to a Two and a half hour video tonight... But I couldn't stop watching. I loved the journey, both figuratively and literally. The little nuggets of history and the anticipation of the reunion at the end really have a way of investing the viewer. Yeah, I'll sub and see what else you got.
Hey Thanks! I really appreciate that! It's definitely been an amazing journey!

This is one of the most enjoyable videos that I have seen in quite some time. You are really dedicated to do the job the way it is supposed to be done, and you hit it right out of the ballpark . Congratulations and I might add, the coachwork was done by Superior Coachwork in Detroit Michigan after after the rolling chassis was finished. Originally, it was fitted with a cab, and Superior cut the back of the cab off. And they fabricated the bus bodywork to the cab. The rest, is history.
Hey Thanks! I appreciate that! It's been such a great journey! Thanks for the information also!
This is definitely one of the best restoration projects I've ever seen, the whole work up to it was interesting but the reunion and story was very touching, and that by itself is worth my subscription, great job Sir.

AWESOME job getting the old girl back on the road! I know it took over a year but I also know it was well worth it, especially to Mary! I'm sure it brought back a lot of memories for her, riding on the bus as a child with her Daddy driving. You did a good thing man!!!

I was so excited to see you drive that bus out of the forest! 🎉 I was so proud of you!!

That really means alot!
So much dignity in seeing that old girl drive herself out of the woods that she drove in to a quarter of a century earlier. It would have been so much easier to drag her out with a tractor, stick her on a flatbed and take her to a shop to fix her up but so much more fitting the way you did it. Bringing the story full circle with her returning to where she used to work when in her prime was beautiful.
Thanks for watching!
What a great restoration was intrigued for the whole three hours. The reunion at the end was amazing.
Thank You! I really appreciate that!

Thank You! I really appreciate that. It was such a great journey and experience. Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice job ! Great video ! Great work effort ! My tips: Dip/clean/seal/paint tank (POR-15). Use rot hole for access to upper tank components (build custom door). Maybe install back-up tank for additional (cheap) fuel. Bathtub replace with fiberglas for weight, excellent idea with bed over the top. Change diif, and trans fluid to synthetic (Amsoil). Solar panels, luggage rack, and roof access. Insulate all 6-sides. Wall between drivers area and rear (secondary security to rear area). Replace all bulbs with LED. Repaint all white with black trim (to include ugly green interior). Remove/reseal all windows before painting. Scrub, wire brush entire bottom, then undercoat. Make custom (hollow) bumpers to store sewage and water hoses. Rain catchment from roof with valves (if you have drip rails). I may have missed this (chemical flush of water passages in block)... and to top it off... what all my buddies yell at me.. "turbo and nitros"... LOL !
Hey Thanks! I really appreciate that! Now that's a great plan!
Parabéns Pelo Vídeo e pela história... Very Very good...! Congratulations...!

I would love to see you and your pictures go to that church if it is still around and show it to the elders and see if anyone remembers this one and give someone who probably needs a lift some great memories 😊 1:19:23

This was so cool. Loved watching the whole thing!! I have to say one of my favorite part was near the end when all of a sudden you heard the horn sound and when you focused in on the culprit it was a young boy . I have a 1932 Auburn and one of the things I allow or insist on is that the kids climb in honk the horn and make like your driving her. You did a great thing finding her home and bringing her for a visit. One last thing what a special thing for your brother to do!! What a blessed family you have.

Thank You Bonnie! I appreciate that. It has been such a wonderful journey and experience!
Those old ford y blocks were pretty damn tough engines, the only major issues are the upper oiling hole on the cam bearing clogging which starved the rocker shaft and valve train of oil and very skinny pushrods that bend very easily if a valve sticks a bit. As long as a high zinc oil is used, these motors will keep on going. I recommend 10w-40 viscosity especially if the motor is high mileage. I’m working on a 54 ford with a 292 y block in it. Keep the rpms below 4500 and the motor will happily keep going for years. These engines make torque down low like a big block. The valves will need periodic adjustments and oil changes every 3000 miles but otherwise these motors don’t usually need much. Take care of them and they will take care of you.
Hey Thanks! It's been a learning lesson for me. I've always delt with small block Chevys. Chuck at Chuck's Trucks has been a big help. Thanks for the information!

I owned one the same year same model. I got mine in Beulah Colorado in the 80s loved that old bus . My wife and 6 kids lived out of it for almost a year. Stretched a large truck tarp off the side for a porch. Had a stove. Icebox, sink , and table, and a set of bunk beds. I wish I still had that thing. Love the video!

Super cool bus, I like how the rear wheel wells are stamped to mimic the fenders of the pickup, great job and done right and safe, only thing I'd done differently would be to have painted the wheels the school bus color to make it pop like it did when you first showed it in the woods. Really neat bus you got and great job getting it back on the road. 👍
