Its dot to dot , then put in distributor in at time. Set timing at 8 to 10 degrees . Never have heard of rotating to 12 clock then putting in distributor.

Nice move using ram horns , headers blow gaskets constantly , you get those ram horns hooked up ya can almost get full exhaust over the counter at Oriellys . If not jc Whitney cheapest way for full exhaust

Get a pilot crank bushings there cheap also ya need it when ya go from auto to std shift , as yer motor was probably in a ar with automatic . So you’ll need crank bushings there

Remember to replace rear seal on trans so it won’t leak there like 5 bucks

And Jason , I just picked up a set of 461’s , 2.02 /1.60. 64 cc heads should give me 10-2-1 compression 355 350 bored 30 over

Zip tie yer wires so there off the headers, I think timing is off. I’ve never heard of bringing it to dots at 12, then dump in distributor , didn’t to dot on crank , cam , install distributor, with rotor pointing at number one that will put it at 0 dwell. Then move distributor. To 8 degrees before top dead center . Give it a go buddy , and bolt yer mufflers on to yer headers temp to quiet it down , and you could run for 5 mins with out dist. Plus you may have to run it for 20 mins to break in cam if it’s new, also look for a vacuum leak that’s what it sounds like to me

The z-bar from a ‘59-‘64 Chevy full size car should be the same since they’re all X-Frame cars. Repros are sold on EBay.

You got that distributor from unknown make sure the timing wheel is Turning the correct direction and engine is timed to fire on compression stroke and not exhaust also check that you got 12 volts to coil not something like 6.7 also while you got heads and intake with crank and cam cover off you can visual inspection on cam timing plus crank and distributor timing and direction

I did enjoy your video, and I’m always looking out for a bargain, but we’re sending too much money to China, and, sometimes you just get what you pay for! I can’t wait to see that engine start and run on the El Camino though, so I’m looking forward to the next instalment!

On your code reader your gas cap using the gasket dries out and gets cracked it's best to just replace it because it's hooked to your evaporation system what's the time is vacuum lines that are cracked up or dried out.

With those air pumps you want to start up the engine otherwise you'll run your battery dead
