My wife had a bank barn on her farm where a dump truck would back in on the upper level and dump wood shavings once a month. Those old bank barns are pretty stout.
Yet some people throw shade when they don't get THEIR revival videos because Derek is out living his own life racing the dream he has SELF MANIFESTED!!! SMH.
Derek, your car is correct. All "Canadian" built 1981-1983 Chrysler Imperials came with a 2 barrel carburator. All U.S. built 1981-1983 Imperials came with the Fuel Injection.
Haven't watched complete episode, however my first car was an 1981 Cordoba, the cousin... also Canadian built. The 318 I had, had "electronic spark control" similar to what they do now, but as always typical Chrysler vacuum leak nightmare, so the "trex broccoli injection" 😂 didn't make many models. Love the content, thanks for trip down memory lane... FYI, I know EXACTLY how many speakers will fit in that trunk lol
Derek, the lengths you go to in order to provide content is second to none. Body aches, long days, multiple stops, fixing issues on the fly... There's a reason I've been watching for over 4 years and will continue to do so. I don't care if the videos are 5 hours. You're thankful for us? We're all thankful for you, my friend.
He was confused about the carburetor. The TBI system was so problematic that all the 81's were recalled by Chrysler and were converted to carburetor. This recall included replacing the entire dash. I believe the story goes that Frank Sinatra was stranded by his imperial due to the TBI. He was so pissed that he said he didn't want any future models to bear his name. This one might be a Frank Sinatra edition since it's a 1981 model.
Have run into plugged fuel line so carry a 20 ft. Length of.022 mig wire to run into line to tank. Also like old car mechanical brakes as Henry used to say “Wouldn’t you rather have steel between your foot and the brakes ?!!” You still make me nervous with carbon monoxide. Hope you have a camera person with fire extinguisher?
My first "something simple" meniscus tear scope surgery, as predicted by the ortho, led to repeated tears and scopes (four in five years) and not enough meniscus left to prevent my knee from ending up bone on bone. That led to total knee replacement and a knee joint implant which turned septic four years post op. I had emergency surgery to remove the implant followed by three months without a knee joint while I went through daily antibiotic infusion. Only then was I cleared to receive a new implant followed by months of intense rehab. The process took about a year total but saved my leg if not my life. A few years later I had to have heart surgery to correct full time arrhythmia (afib) dating back to and likely caused by the sepsis. I consider myself lucky. A family friend died in his early 40s a few months after "simple" scope surgery on his leg which led to a blood clot.
Him and his family are doing great from this how and all participate in promotion and merchandising. Rock on brotha! Show how we drove anything for our families when w had nothing to buy a car. We did this to make abandoned cars from backyards work for us.
1.3 million views on a video in 2 days when the channel only has 1.9 million subscribers is absolutely amazing and a real estimate to the quality of the content.
The caverns look cool.. in Schoharie NY there's Howes Caverns. You can walk into it. You take an elevator down into the earth. And part of it is on foot, part in a boat though narrow passage. Very cool.
Oh boy just got off a 14 hour shift sat down on a Friday evening and bang my favorite show comes on. Love it thanks for everything you and your family does. We really appreciate it.
Ten minutes into the video he unpluges the wiper motor because they was wipin. 1hr 50 into the video, Derik: "Believe it or not, wipers aint wipen"... ...lmao. Genuinely love this guy!
Mopar chose to do something different with cars from this era. While the trucks retained the traditional windshield wiper arm arrangement, these have a totally different setup. No idea why the did it, but less common, and more costly now to fix. So, while the motor was heard running, it wasn't connected to the arms. By
@@tvdroid22 did the bushings come apart? I had a 79 LeBaron and once a bushing failed, wiper motor ran but wiper arms didn't wipe. The linkage fell apart
It could certainly be the linkage, but my money is on him doing it on purpose. You really have to pay attention to realize how deep his sense of humor is. Definitely my favorite RUclips content creator. Everything he does is worth watching every second of. I can’t imagine the trouble he goes through to do this for us. I would vote for him to be our president. He knows how to deal with every problem imaginable. The only issue is he’s probably too honest.
I know nothing about cars and I have spent 6 hours watching Derek noodle through repairs with the patience of a Saint . Better than anything I’ve watched anywhere. This guy is a treasure.
I worked at a Chrysler dealer in the 90's, I had to convert one for a customer in 91'. The box the parts came in was insane, manifold, tank, lines, engine harness, ignition system (with spark control system) replacement digital dash cluster, throttle linkages for accelerator and transmission.. Wish I still had the installation manual
I heard frank sinatra was picked to advertise the car when the one he was given stranded him Chrysler recalled them and they received the carburetor replacement kit it was an interesting story saw it on RUclips years ago the Chrysler lean burn had issues also the computer on the air filter got hot and shook with the air cleaner heat and vibration with early electronics is never good
Derek, don’t ever doubt the love of your base! Over 1 million views in 24hrs of an over 3HOUR video. I’ve been saying for years that you don’t have cut your content down to an hour. We love your content.
Yes, Derek (who rocks the automotive channel thing) and Jessica make a full-story 3 hr + video of him going to retrieve, get running and drive a 1981 Chrysler Imperial home 950 miles when it hasn't done ANYTHING but sit for 22 years and Jessica and he post it for all of us to enjoy...and enjoy it we do, Derek/Jessica have 1.91+ million Subscribers and in only 2 days they've had 1.3+ million of us watch said awesome, cool, adventurous, entertaining, car guy video...because quality stuff, goodness, funness. That's impressive, and I ain't kiddin' a feller or fellette!
From an algorithm perspective it would probably be better to break it into 3 1 hour videos. I don’t have time typically to watch something like this on one sitting so I come back to it over several days, which hurts the watch time since it’s not all watched at once. Either way I’ll be watching it, but it does change if I watch it the first day or if I watch it all at once and those are things that do effect the algorithm which effects the reach of his channel.
Being a disabled guy, I surely enjoy living vicariously thru your videos, Derrick! Thankyou for what you do, brother! It entertains fellers, like myself, who are unable to do it ourselves! ✌️
Please keep making videos. You are exceptional at it!! I am a 73 year old retiree and you motivate me through your videos. And am shocked how through all adversity how you maintain your cool. Thanks so much for being you. Paul
Chrysler dealers offered to convert the cars to carb. If Chrysler did it, the dash will show a dot between the ODO and MI wording on the digital odometer. As well, the driver's door will have a tag showing the mileage on the car at time of conversion. The mileage then showing on the dash is SINCE the conversion. Overall, Chrysler converted cars were done 81-83 and were very comprehensive with changes made from front to rear where needed.
at 13 minutes in, when he first discovers the carb and tries to look at the build date on the door, you can see there is an additional sticker under the one he's looking that says something about federal law concerning vehicles with odometer replacements starting at "0", can't see the whole thing. But it appears you are correct
Glad to see Derek has almost 2 mil subscribers. I joined when he had about 30k - he is still cranking out amazing content; nothing has changed; the fame & celebrity has not changed these videos one bit. Proud of you sir - you're a great American with a great American family. We need more Vice Grip Garages in this world.
Just one of these videos would be a legendary RUclips gem, a tale of humor, perseverance and ingenuity. The fact that Derek has a whole library of these epics is mind-blowing.
Hey there Derek! From one guy who knows knee pain, I know what you're going through. Please see a Dr and get it addressed before it gets worse. Sometimes I feel you're not watching your health as closely as you should. Be well, my friend. You're a treasure to all of us!!
That's very sound advice Dave! We men tend to badly neglect our body and health (ask me how I know...). Thanks Derek for another big big whopper video and greetings from the guy from Switzerland (Schangnau et al ;-) Charles
I come from a long line of Men who had both their knees replaced. I know your schedule is packed tighter than 6 Nuns in a Dodge Neon but don't over do it. Give your knee time to heal.. don't try to soldier through if possible.
I worked at Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler dealership from 85-91. To the best of my recollection, all three years were originally fuel injected. In fact it was the Imperial where I first heard the term fuel infection. The first year of production was so bad that the carburetor conversion kit was developed early in 1982. Originally an owner could opt to have the dealership install the carburetor conversion for $3,500, or if your car had collected enough warranty work, Chrysler Corp would install the conversion kit under warranty. By 1983 many dealerships across the country were doing the conversion before the car sold.
This car did well for being in a barn for 20 years. I was wondering how many seals would leak on the way back, but you made it home successfully! Thanks for this video.
Hands down one of my favorite people to watch. No fancy doo dads, no big money ego. Just good, humble, american nation loving, down to earth guy breathing life back into these old rigs and keeping the laughs going while doing it. Awesome video Derek!
Derek should be a international treasure in the car community honestly. I'm. not from the US, but his videos are truly awesome for exactly the reasons you wrote, also, many mechanics can learn valuable stuff from his revivals.
At 66 years old I look forward to new VGG episodes the way I used to look forward to christmas as a kid! And a THREE HOUR episode is like finding a new bike under the tree!!!!!
Derek does what a lot of us dream about doing in our lives. I'm really thankful he shares his adventures with us. It really puts a smile on my face, and makes the old heart feel good.
This video ought to be a mandatory watch for all h.s. graduates ... a great example of persistence, tolerance, ingenuity, and patience. Thanks, again, Derek.
These were the VERY worst, last of the Chrysler K..car model that ccocka was so proud of in the beginning of the K CAR BY Chrysler that turned out to be the worst line of cars that Chrysler EVER produced in its history of Chrysler.......these cars were what bankrupted CHRYSLER IN THE Mid 80"s to late 80"s... Car magazine called them the WORST car brand to EVER...... . be created in the history of automobile"s...
Holy crap!!! I remember when you hit 30k subscribers and I bought a tshirt hat and a black long sleeve button up shirt for riding. You’re doing extremely well…
This might be my favorite episode so far. Three hours of trouble, laughter, thoughts and genius workarounds to preserve a magnificent car. We even got to see some caves and carriages! 10/10.
I fall apart when things don't go my way when working on my vehicle. This man teaches me patients. The "is what it is" mentality is something I strive for
I admire you SO MUCH! the genuine way you talk, teach, laugh and learn is truly a gift to this world. i appreciate you doing what you do, and sharing it with all of us. THANK YOU DEREK!
I love this car. My best friend growing up in North East Iowa drove this 1981 Chrysler LeBaron Salon Coupe. He had it hopped up a little but it remained a 318. I have a lot of memories of being introduced to adulthood with the huge infinity house speakers roaring while taking up the whole back seat. (R.I.P Robbie)
I bought an '83, similar situation. Had been parked for 30yrs. Was never converted to carb. Fella bought at an estate sale, couldn't get it running (Chevy guy....his words....still funny), just wanted his money out of it. Am about to watch the vid and see the story. One thing so far is incorrect. The fuel injection was '81-'83. The engine was a standard 318 shortblock with 360 heads and a one-off 360 intake make specifically for the throttle body. Theres no choke well so a conversion with a 2v holley with electric choke is an easy start. Many were retrofitted, especially the '81's as they had issues, being a new system. Mopar retrofitted many of them to carbs at great expense to gov't standards. So now you have what any other 318 carb'd unit had that year. It was a class-action recall. Mine was never converted so I did it myself. You've had the hard work done for you. My question is, since yours has the carb conversion, did they also put standard small port 318 heads on, or just the intake? Mine had 4, yes 4 fuel filters (factory installed) between the tank and the injection unit. I think they were a little concerned about injector body contamination. Two of the filters were in an area on the passenger side underneath, at the rear of the front fender. I don't know if this was retained with the carb conversion.
From WIKI "Unfortunately the fuel injection system proved troublesome and many 1981 models were retrofitted under warranty (or later on owner initiative) with carburetors"
I was a Chrysler mechanic in 83 and had the misfortune to work on those god forsaken TBI’s. The recall fix converted the system to a 2 Barrel carb. The conversion kit included fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel tank, and the entire exhaust system complete with new catalytic converters, new air filter housing with that stupid computer bolted to the side. We did several conversions in 83 and 84. They were an absolute pleasure to drive when they were converted, until the stupid computer on the air filter housing would decide to cease working
This video should give you at least 3 months without anyone griping and complaining about you not doing revivals. Excellent video, dude thank you for all you do within the car community. Not to mention you’re the type of guy most should strive to be like. Thank you for all the hard work
Derek Carlisle is where it’s at in the spring. It is one of the biggest, if not THE BIGGEST car show in the country. You will love every second of it. Swap meet, auctions, or just walking around and enjoying the old cars. You and the fam will love it. It is a huge deal for all of us car guys living in PA.
We used to go to Carlisle when I worked for a small shop out of Michigan (Great Lakes Mopar) we pulled 3 large enclosed trailers out there and had probably one of the largest sites. Most sales were done on eBay. RIP Ron Adair
I drove from Minnesota to Emmaus to pick up a 1989 diesel Dodge pickup. I'd heard it was close to Allentown so I was expecting a post industrial Apocalypse (the Billy Joel song). I was shocked to discover that even near Allentown, Pennsylvania is a beautiful state of undulating valleys and trout streams and rivers. I could not stop looking down at them and the occasional trout fisher as I passed. I needed to continue because I had to get home and sleep but your state is so, so beautiful. How Pennsylvania has remained so scenic after 250 years of war and exploitation is a miracle to me.
This man is a gem. There most certainly is something romantic about what he does and he has a unique way of making it feel genuine to his audience. He does this thing he does in earnest and with conviction.
I'm surprised you haven't seen Mickey yet on your drive. This is my first time here. I've had a stroke and almost blind from it. So now this is my life now. Enjoying what others drive and see the world thanks to people like you.
I was working at a Chrysler dealership during that period and Chrysler had so much trouble with the fuel injection system that they offered a carburetor conversion kit that was dealership installed under warranty to satisfy the customer
Its not the funny manorisms, nor the cars. Its you we love. God bless you sir, you bring life to old cars but you bring a smile and sanity in a world gone mad - Thank you.
Derek you are definitely the car whisperer.. to reserect a car that has sit for 20 yrs and expect it to go more than 50 miles is very impressive.. your an automotive hero sir..
Down here in the southern hemisphere, nothing better than waking up on a Saturday morning to 3 hours of VGG epic awesomeness. Moses sandles! This man deserves an award.
I totally love long videos like this one. It's packed with so much so I thank you, Derek, and thank you for the trip to the caves & museum. Once again, your videos and your skill, resourcefulness & personality have made a VERY enjoyable watch. Cheers from the UK.
You are one he!! Of a human. To keep going with all the issues without ever losing your cool. You are amazing. I’m a 55 yo women but I just love watching you resurrect these old vehicles. Can’t wait to see this car cleaned up. I think it’s going to be beautiful.
Derrick I must admit I’m an old Chrysler fan, but even if I wasn’t I kinda got smitten with the Imperial. Not a huge fan of the 318 but do think it is a reliable. I could just see this with a 440 Magnum for some umph. For the last 15+ years we’ve been in Ghana, West Africa working with widows and orphans. Your channel is one of my favorite channels to satisfy my love for cars. Thank you for enriching our lives. God bless you and your family.
Derek, this is a great car. Excellent job saving this one. Regarding the fuel injection switch you noticed early in this video, in 1981, Chrysler issued a recall in response to widespread issues with the factory system, replacing most with carburetor conversions by the dealer. It would be very rare to find an Imperial of this vintage with the original fuel injection I suspect.
If I remember correctly, all the EFI systems were recalled on the 81 imperials. I actually own an 81 Imperial, and when I got it, there was a box of EFI stuff in the trunk, and a 2bbl on the engine!
If I remember correctly, due to the issues these cars had with the fuel injection, Chrysler allowed a swap over to carbureted. There are very few that didn't get the swap, but they are still out there. I vaguely remember my aunt telling us that they offered the swap whenever you brought it in for service, she had hers done. Apparently, it wasn't a recall, but a discounted service. I would like to note that although after 78 Chrysler had a poor design to their rear main seals, and this was a problem that was easily corrected by using the older style rear main seal, the oil sending unit on Chrysler small blocks is located right next to the distributor on the rear of the block behind the intake which was also an issue. Most typically if you saw oil against the firewall, the sending unit is the culprit. Great video, thanks for sharing.
I know, 2 comments, same vid.. Derek, get an empty gear oil bottle with the screw on tapered cap, put some fuel line on it with a clamp just tight enough. And stomp on it to back purge fuel lines if you don't have compressed air available. Might take a couple attempts, but, has worked for me in the past.
Can tell you're hurting. Take care of that knee. Nothing more important than health. Thanks for struggling through it and making it look fun while you're doing it.
I worked in parts for Chrysler in the 80’s. The Imperials had so many drivability problems the they finally after several attempts to fix them they came out with a kit to convert them back to carburetor based. Mechanics would dread those things coming in. Love your show. I live right down the road from you in Spring Hill Tn. and love your site.
Early days of fuel injection? It’s funny, how we saw different waves of FI come in. Some old European cars, like Mercedes, has it licked in the 50s. The German engineers cracked FI in their warbirds, where the Allies were still on carburettors. Look up “Miss Tilly’s Orifice” for a genius tale of invention by a rare, lady fuel engineer in WW2 Britain. In U.K., we were still riding motorcycles on carbs deep into the 80s. I bought a 2006 Suzuki and that had FI. It was amazing. Zero maintenance for the 15 years I owned it. And you could get the fuel maps tweaked for whatever you wanted by a shop with a dyno. Impressive tech, when I works.
Im gonna just tell ya RIGHT now... Dont put off getting your knee fixed.. The longer you wait, the less likely it is to fully recover. i waited 2 years to repair mine and its the worst thing ive ever done. Dr told me had i fixed it when i hurt it i wouldve been fully recovered in 2-3 weeks. here i am 2 years later and im still dealing with knee problems.
Just got Cortizone shots in mine Thursday and found out my right knee is bone on bone, but not to the point of knee replacement yet. Left knee is still good, but "almost there"
Doctors always say it would have been better if you did as your told, but all the people with the same issues as you who did listen are proof it’s a crap shoot either way and they are guessing as much as the wether man. Remember doctors kill hundred of thousands of people a year in the US alone from medical errors, any many occur from seemingly safe surgeries so the risk is generally far higher then they like to lead people to believe.
My mans got a bum knee Emphasis on the K.. and he still puts out a 3 hour video and keeps his same sense of humor. This man is a legend! Derek, keep up the great work bud, us fans appreciate it more than you know! Had a great uncle who worked for Chrysler, so there is a good chance he helped build that exact car.
Man its a privilege to be alive when you got folks like Derek around. I plan on being out in the garage with my future little dudes and dudettes wrenching while Vicegrip plays on the TV. I hope to meet you one day! Bless you and your family brother.
My grandpa had a frank sinatra edition imperial. It’s parked at my uncles house and every time I’ve seen it growing up I’ve always loved the baby blue on that car. Wish I had the space or else I’d buy it off him as it just sits
Remember Sinatra had a drinking problem at one time and then got better, never give up on a Chrysler or a Sinatra 😂😅 I'll trade ya a 64 Polara for the 81 Imperial. We are similar in our car doings, I've had 340 or so cars, trucks and so ,sold all and get another one mostly for people that needs a rig. I'll talk to you sometime. Oh ya my left knee is shot wife want me to get it fixed this year, good woman ;)

I have to admit that a guy loves seeing videos from you, especially when they're long videos. I know there'll be a lot of things to see as you bring another vehicle back to life. I also am happy that you showed us that you take some time to see something cool along the way. It's good to see a feller taking some time to enjoy life for a while when surrounded by a sea of work. Hey Derek it was a factory conversion iirc there was a tsb put out for it the parts came in a box the length of the car. Had a fuel tank and fuel lines and a whole bunch of stuff to completely change it over to a carb , the Chrysler dealership I worked at in the 90s did the last one they had in stock
Derek i just watched this video on Sept 18 and i watched it for a couple days to get to the end and too put it frankly ,You sir are a purt near genius to figure out the fuel make it happener hose arrangement to get those two tanks up in the front floorboard to get you home,so i just subscribed for life and im sure you have enough videos to last me many more years, thanks brother and keep em coming!
I also love the fact that we are 2 hours into it, and he is just now leaving for the ride. An hour yet of road tripping❤. Dude, Derek. Thank you for these. I know they are not easy and I know they are expensive. Just know you made my weekend. You really keep a guy going
Derek, KNEES are nothing to mess with!! Get it fixed, yesterday. As many have said, we love what you do but your family needs you healthy. Git 'R Dunn!!!
I just randomly found vice grip garage a couple months ago and I am hooked. I was a 16 year old when I bought my first car in 1972 which was a 67 Firebird with the little 6 cylinder ohc. Previous owner didn't do proper maintenance on it and when I bought it my late father showed me how to take out the engine and he walked me through overhauling it. Your interaction with your youngest son reminds me of my late father and I relationship. Those are some of most endearing memories of my father, him coming home after working at the Chevrolet plant during the day and working on that vehicle with me. Wish I still had that vehicle because of the time we shared. Watching your videos bring back alot of memories and I look forward to watching one each day since I am now retired Your family and you seem like wonderful people. Being selfish but please keep making those videos if you can.
Dereck, that was an epic journey. I am a WISC boy who lives in AUS, come and visit I will hold the camera while you resurrect old Aussie cars. A guy doesn't smile that much in everyday life and then Vice Grip garage makes a video about an obscure car from the past buried in an old barn. Your antics make me smile. And then laugh. And then cry. You are a master story teller, love your work, no wonder you have so many people who follow your adventures on the backroads of America. Thank you
Derek Could not stop watching this 2 hour program and this has given me an idea of pulling a 1972 -T Bird out of my garage that has been sitting since 1986- the last time it drove, Had this car brand new and took my wife on our honey moon in 1976 all over the southwest when gas was just a little over a Dollar a gallon . I really appreciate the showing revival of this Chrysler
Best thing about Fridays are seeing what Derek got himself into this week. I appreciate all your travels to bring us this awesome entertainment. Thanks Jessica for helping to put this together for us
All three years were fuel injected from the factory. I bought a used 83 when I was a much younger man. The fuel injection unit and all associated components were under a much larger air cleaner assembly. I remember that was critical to keep the air cleaner properly sealed for correct air/ fuel mixture. Loved that car
Agreed, but have you noticed the wide angle lens lately? Can’t see nothing, zooming in myself and it goes grainy because of it, feel the shots used to be tighter. Saw more of what mattered. Not that the scenery isn’t beautiful, but I swear on my left foot something is different. Hope he makes a recovery ❤️🩹 with the knee
@@agoogleuser704 Yeah, i've noticed that when you get someone else who doesn't fully understand your content style, especially when it comes down to editing, the storytelling aspect of these videos goes down quite a bit. I loved the classic derek style of editing, when it was just him. But, as these channels get bigger so do budgets. Why would i edit myself when i could hire someone to do it for me by just having them go back at my previous work and emulate it. It's a sad reality i've seen too many times.
And, to your point. A wide angle lense isn't really needed here. If i wanted to nitpick i'd say 99% of dereks audience only care about the car, and himself in frame. It doesn't matter about the visual of the barn, or anything like that. You also deal with perspective issues due to the fisheye effect on most wide-angle lenses. Most people within dereks audience are likely older, and it's much harder to see what you WANT to see when your viewing a long winded video like this one. Again, i understand why. It's just made the channel less desirable when you add upgrades to things that don't need to be changed.
@@agoogleuser704 A wide angle lens means Derek can spend less time moving the camera. The video goes grainy when the person editing zooms in digitally.
There is no other content that I could watch for 3 hours and enjoy so much. This, along with so many of your videos is amazingly talented. We are grateful that you can earn enough $ to continue - but whatever it is should be double as you devote body and soul. The best compliment that I can give is this, Thank You!
So I first saw you on millennial farmer getting a couple of snow mobiles going. I waited a week or so to check out your website. Derek, what a terrific adventure. A few times, I shook my head, thinking “This fella just won’t quit”. And you were right not to. I’ve been watching for years. You’re rarely beat.

Hope you have a camera person with fire extinguisher?
Take care of yourself Derek. Your family needs you more than we do brother.

I had similar, turned out to be torn meniscus. Knee scoping took care of it. Hope yours is something simple.
I’ve had serious knee pain caused by sciatic nerve.

This made me wonder, too - were they “trying” to work when he unplugged them or were they good the whole time and just forgotten about?
It could certainly be the linkage, but my money is on him doing it on purpose. You really have to pay attention to realize how deep his sense of humor is. Definitely my favorite RUclips content creator. Everything he does is worth watching every second of. I can’t imagine the trouble he goes through to do this for us.
Can I but those skates please.
At 39:11 you can tell the dot is showing in the dash which means this is a factory Chrysler conversion

This looks like a Canadian car. They are usually different in some way or the other.

Thanks, interesting….
Wrong
@@Kevin-p2q9y Could you be a little more specific?
From WIKI "Unfortunately the fuel injection system proved troublesome and many 1981 models were retrofitted under warranty (or later on owner initiative) with carburetors"
it would be sucky if they went through with the head swap, putting a 2 barrel 360 intake on it should be way easier and cheaper

Pretty incredible to see you revive a car and then DRIVE IT PAST MY HOUSE!! You're such an inspiration to me and many others. God bless!
Yes, the Carlisle swap meet and car show is legendary and ENORMOUS!
That's what she has never said 😂
One of the highlights of my week. No grandstanding just good honest work keep it up Derek one of the few honest car shows that are out there!!!
Carlisle official shows are GINORMOUS. I had my T-Bird there this year for the Ford Nationals show. 3500+ cars registered for it, plus a swap meet.
Correct !
Saving this one!
Just edit the comment

Doctors always say it would have been better if you did as your told, but all the people with the same issues as you who did listen are proof it’s a crap shoot either way and they are guessing as much as the wether man.
Watching your videos bring back alot of memories and I look forward to watching one each day since I am now retired
Your family and you seem like wonderful people.
Thank you
Oh yeah!! Derek must get to know old Holdens . . . or Falcons . . . or Valiants . . .
Thanks Jessica for helping to put this together for us
This is the single most best RUclips video I have ever watched. ❤
All three years were fuel injected from the factory. I bought a used 83 when I was a much younger man. The fuel injection unit and all associated components were under a much larger air cleaner assembly. I remember that was critical to keep the air cleaner properly sealed for correct air/ fuel mixture. Loved that car
Shoutout to the editor for putting together not only the raw video, but piecing this masterpiece together. Not an easy job!
It's just made the channel less desirable when you add upgrades to things that don't need to be changed.
now if only we could get a little bit more than 24 fps. jesus.
So I choose this particular video figuring I would give it a few minutes and see what you are about. 3 hours later I am subscribed and made sure to like your video. Totally awesome and I appreciate how calm a guy is facing such a challenge! Thanks!
Derek doesn’t do panic or flapping, nor does he quit.
I love how the headlight cover come up to cover the lights
These videos never get old. My grandparents had a 82 New Yorker 318 that I worked on and drove a lot when I was a kid. Was a cool car and felt like you were driving a couch down the road lol. This brings back memories. Thanks VGG
Wow - 3 hours. Amazing. Derek, your work ethic is unmatched... Edit: with a bad knee no less!
Derek, what a terrific adventure. A few times, I shook my head, thinking “This fella just won’t quit”. And you were right not to. I’ve been watching for years. You’re rarely beat. At 2.43, you hit the road & I tell you, that American guitar lick just has a guy who likes America, but is from olde England, very moved. That sound says distance. Thank you, I enjoyed that rescue very much.
Mike
Tennessee is good for you. You have finally discovered that it is not oil it is earl. Go Derek!
Your work ethic is absolutely unparalleled.
RUclips needs to make somekind of extralike button....As a long time fan of this chanel we are all used to getting some very entertaining car rescues....sometimes we get a little ( or big ) roadtrip advanture through the states.....this time we got a rescue, a swap meat, a cave, a museum and a casino.....Thanks Derek...you know how to make the best use of the time god gives us on this earth...Greetings to you and your family from Belgium
Congrats you two. To quote "Lost in Translation"
"Your life, as you know it... is gone. Never to return. But they learn how to walk, and they learn how to talk, and you want to be with them. And they turn out to be the most delightful people you will ever meet in your life." God bless your growing family. Hang in there Gus, she will be your best friend before you know it
A message from a fan in the UK. Watching you bring these old cars back from the brink is quite brilliant. Thank you for taking us along with you on these incredible journeys and please keep up the fabulous work best regards, Gareth
