I had my kobo for the past 15 days after heavy research in ereader market. It's the most well rounded ereader in midrange pricing point and can easily compete with high end/price models.
    Pros:
-battery lasts 2 weeks with heavy use and wifi off, and over 4 weeks with light use.
-reads multiple formats of ebooks, not only limited to .mobi as kindle.
    -automatic ambient light
-waterproof (kinda silly to me as I don't imagine someone reading in the water or while showering, but thats just me)
    -connects to pocket and overdrive
    -price for all the features
    Cons:
-uneven screen light (because the LEDs are on one side of the screen where the handle is, it makes a visible difference when reading at night or with higher grade of back light, where the screen away from the handle appears more dimmer (not a deal breaker , hardly noticeable at first but once you notice you won't be able to un-notice it)).
-kobo library is not nearly as massive as kindles (overdrive connection should mitigate that)
-plastic body (but pro is that it doesn't overheat as oasis)
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

Sadly agree on the uneven lightning
However i gotta say,i love love the plastic back build and back.
In fact, this is were i want the corners to be cut.good hardware and sw,just less polished and premium material.
Btw I'd pay more for plastic than metal, simply because it's more comfortable imho

Honestly the grip is my favorite part, especially since the power button is nowhere near the page turn buttons. I was lucky in that I only had less than 5 Kindle books so not terribly invested in Amazon's ecosystem yet. So far I'm enjoying the Kobo side of things.

I own a Barns and Noble Nook Glowlight 3, Kindle Basic and a Kobo Libra H2O. My favorite is the Nook, but that could be because I've owned one the longest. Kobo is a close secod. Love the buttons and easy, intuitive navigation. Very infrequently do I not find a book on Kobo or B&N that I want to read....maybe some indie authors.

I had this, for about a week, before selling it back up for having no Cloud/Wifi transfer options whatsoever for sideloading and no audiobook capability, while the Kindle has ALL those, even on their cheapest offering--now even complete with backlight capability. Especially after I found out that only the Sage version offers Cloud/Wifi transfer for sideloading and audiobook. Which is ridiculous.

Well as smaller company kobo has some insufficiencies that kindle alredy solved but users have already made updates with koreader program which now enables all kobo devices to use wifi transfer.
