Almost a year later watching this, still up to date and helped me update my bios because I had an older version that wasn’t compatable with a ryzen 7 5700x. Thank you!
thanks for this info. I had an issue with a Samsung MVME M.2 SSD drive which was no longer recognized. I was dead because my SSD drive also contained the O.S. I tried updating the motherboard BIOS as a last resort and it worked. My SSD drive was recognized again. Thanks so much for the detailed instructions.
thanks dude! i went from a r5 5600 to a r7 5800x and i forgot that i had to flash the bios, i’ve never done that before but now i know! super easy to follow tutorial and very in depth, thanks!
The issue im having after doing these steps is "Selected file is not proper bios" i made sure to check its the right mobo, its a formatted 8gb flash drive on fat32. Any suggestions? Ty

Just got me the B550-F Gaming a few days ago to go with my Ryzen 7 5800X and still need to do the bios update, so thanks to this video I'm 100% sure I won't mess up! I just hope the bios update will solve the one final issue I'm currently having: My Gen4 Transcend 250h 4tb M.2 ssd not showing up. It does show in my bios, and even showed up as a drive to install my windows on it, but after having windows installed its not showing up in the list for "this PC". My samsung one shows up without any issues, but the transcend, nope.
Great toot I'm about to start building my first PC and I have a B550-XE pairing with a Ryzen 9 5800X and pcpartpicker was saying I will have to update the BIOS on the MOBO for it to support the CPU.
My version is the b550f wifi. Current bios is 1401. I keep getting an error in the bios for the ez flash saying it’s not a correct bios file. I followed your instructions it’s still not working. Any help?
Can this motherboard have everything mounted (except for RAM) and then be updated with backflash?. Also can I jump directly to the latest BIOS version? I have a 5700X3D and I'm sure it's not supported by the mb out of the box, also I don't have RAM. Ty!
I ended up looking through the manual because I got stuck here too and found this: " If the light flashes for five seconds and turns into a solid light, this means that the BIOS FlashBack™ is not operating properly. This may be caused by improper installation of the USB storage device and filename/file format error. If this scenario happens, please restart the system to turn off the light." So the only difference i have, i use a USB of 100Gb+, i've made a partition in Fat32 (of like 2.9Go) and the reste is non partition. When i push the button, it flash like 3 or 4 times and then stay on for a long time (it's still on). Am i doing it wrong? Did i need to get a 4Go USB to do this? Did i need to return the motherboard?

Update AMD 5000/3000 Series CPU fTPM version, please back up Bitlocker recovery key before updating this version BIOS" mean? Are those steps I have to complete before flashing the BIOS or is that what the BIOS update is doing? Sorry if that's a silly question. T.T

Friend I have a b550-I gaming and I want to know how I can restart the manual bios, it's that I touch some options in the bio and it doesn't give me video now and I want to restart manual but I don't know how to do it
I know this is kind of late but if anyone was having trouble updating (I couldn’t find a usb less than 64gb on me and things got a little funky) heres another method. You can just update by using the bios menu. Open bios by pressing the delete key when the computer is posting. That should open the bios, now under the tools tab there should be an option called “ASUS EZ Flash 3 Utility”. You can then choose the drive and select the update file within it. It even shows you a progress bar so you know how far along the update is going. I find this method more intuitive and less “cross your fingers and hope the flashing lights turn off”. Cheers * Also if your light blinks a few times and remains solid afterwards make sure you have the right motherboard bios update. The WiFi version and non WiFi version bios updates are not cross compatible.
Hello, firstly congratulations on the channel, in the documentation for this mobo it says that it accepts this AMD RYZEN 5 4600G BOX CPU, I updated the BIOS, but it still doesn't recognize the CPU, do you have any idea what it could be?
Thank you! If it says it's accepted and the BIOS is updated, I'm not sure what it could be off the top of my head but if I think of something I'll let you know. I would also try contacting Asus to see if they have any solutions for you.
@@NorthernVikingEveryday perfect! I'm still testing, as soon as we have a view from Asus, I'll bring updates here, thank you. Let's see if I can solve the mystery
Not all. Motherboards are compatible with all CPUs out of the box so depending on your CPU you may need to do it at the beginning. Otherwise, you can update the BIOS later if you want. You can typically see on the motherboard website whether your CPU will be compatible or you need an updated bios version.
Is there any downside to grabbing the 'latest version' and does it have all the updates of all the updates inbetween? I'm still on 2803 and wondering if I can update to the latest without issue. Thanks for the video in advance!

@NorthernVikingEveryday Hi i just have a doubt, when i press the button on the back the light doesn't blink but it lights up green and hasn't turn off. It's normal ?
Thats pretty much fool proof thx! Btw does the fat32 Stick have to be empty, or can it also contain other files. Normally i flash the bios through the bios settings, so ill try the button for the first time as it seems easier.

Question: would it matter if I updated the bios as soon as I get finished building my pc. What I mean by that is after I build my pc before turning it on could I update it without any problems and then go on with the windows bios setup once it’s done updating?
I built mine last saturday and I haven't updated the bios yet (i'm not sure if it's already updated.. I havent checked) but my pc is working fine.
how did you installed windows? i just build my pc with this motherboard and only loads the bios
@@alextorres-sm4yudid you solve it? I have the same issue😂

@NorthernVikingEveryday Hi i just have a doubt, when i press the button on the back the light doesn't blink but it lights up green and hasn't turn off. It's normal ?
I thinks it already has the update. But I’m not sure.
شكرا لك، سوف اجرب هذه الطريقة بعد ان تصل اللوحة الام ان شاء الله
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
I have a asus z690 e mobo. Do I have to install all the older bios updates before I install the latest bios update ?
No, you can just go with the newest one.
Thats pretty much fool proof thx! Btw does the fat32 Stick have to be empty, or can it also contain other files. Normally i flash the bios through the bios settings, so ill try the button for the first time as it seems easier.
I'm having alot of trouble getting the ethernet set up for this, I don't know what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it. I can't even download windows because of the no connection so I'm stuck on the BIOS screen please help
How important is it to use the renamer? I'm only able to use a mac as of now, but it cant run that program because its for windows only
is it okay if i manually rename it "R550FGW2.CAP"?
@@emilyzhu5613can you help I have the same problem
My light blinks a few times and then stays lit, no blinking for over 4 minutes. Any answers on that?
I am having an issue where my laptop won’t let me eject my flash drive because it’s “being used by another program” but I have no other programs running
awesome video! but I'm just curious, for example, can I go straight from bios 1 to 5 or should I also take 2, 3 and 4?
You can go straight to the newest one.
Hey guys! i got a B550F WiFi Motherboard like 2 years ago, haven't updated my BIOS at all (it's still in version 1401).
Does i'm missing "a lot" by not updating to the last version (3202)?
For me my 5800x3d wasnt boosting without atleast version 2665 oder what ever that was called so in specific cases you could actually miss out on some performance
I would update. some of the bios files say they make the system more stable. just download the latest update.
My light is just solid, not flashing. Should i worry?
Question: can this method be used with a 5 series cpu already in?
yes
Thx for saving my dax ❤❤❤
Nice seems easy enough great video! Can you tell me if i need to reformat my ssd before moving it to my new mobo? I have a digital retail license of windows 10 i know i have to reactivate windows by logging into my microsoft account but i dont really want to redownload all my stuff, i upgraded from a gma p34fx which is give or take 8 years old, kind of stressing about it and my cpu should be here today or tomorrow so im really anxious lol.
you dont have to reformat dont worry :)
I appreciate this video so much 🙏 thank you
You are so welcome!

You are most welcome
My bios light was flashing for 10secs then went to steady green light and hasnt turned off for at least 8mins, is it supposed to be flashing or still? Not sure how long it will take
Mine is solid as well. Haven't figured it out yet. It's been solid green for a while.
