Flashing gives you a lot of features. Flashing Bios for Ryzen 5000 or Flashing Bios for Ryzen 3000 will allow you to utilize the latest generation of AMD CPU's. This will give you support for AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. For this, we will be flashing BIOS with USB, a USB thumbdrive. This will help you on how to update motherboard bios, how to update the BIOS and how to update your BIOS. This will also show you why you should update motherboard BIOS and when to update motherboard bios. It will also show you where to find motherboard BIOS and how to flash BIOS.
It used to be flashing your BIOS was like playing a game of Chess, while a lot is well thought out, there is always the chance of your opponent making a wild move, your opponent in this case being power more often than not, the power could go out. So while this is not a guide in how to play chess, this is a guide on how to flash your bios.

You don't need to power up the MOBO to updates it's BIOS. One simply puts the MOBO updater drive in the rear USB port marked "BIOS", and hold the button for 3 seconds. Wait a few mins for the LED to stop lighting up, and once the light stays off it's done.
    Great video, though!

Thank you so much for your kind words and support my friend, it means the world to me and I am so very happy I could help you. Also, that is one of the reasons I started this channel, at 13, the internet was not really out... I had to learn everything on my own... my uncles and step father knew about computers, but didn't have time for me.... so I had to teach myself everything.
Fast forward a few years, youtube came out, and there were a few tech channels, and every knew how to do stuff and said, here is easy, look and flew threw things, didn't really show it, which to me means they don't know either, but that's a different story. I would see in the comments people saying thanks so much for the help, but I have this question, stuff they would fly over in the videos, and they would never get answered, so that made me want to make this channel.
I was a reviewer initially with Dragonblogger, you will find a lot of my videos there (I started ThisBytesForYou 5 years ago, so it would be after that but I am still very close with Justin Germino, the owner of Dragonblogger) then I came here and did everything on my own but with my focus on teaching everything I could, I am so very happy I could help you.

For somone like me who is going to build the first pc ever. This is invaluable. Other channels only focus on fancy editing , music lights and high production quality just to get more and more subscribers since that sells well to attract wider audience.
They barely reply to comments and are always looking for hot topics to cover without any substantial knowledge to be shared! Although I do enjoy those videos at times to get some news briefly but the real stuff is what you are doing with your channel for sure! Keep up the good work and sharing your knowledge 👏 I am sure this channel is bound to grow more 🙌

@@abhisheksakpal484 thanks so much my friend for wording it all so well, this is exactly what I am going after. I don't care about pretty lights and fancy editing (mind you, I will get there is video quality one day) but I want to focus on what's good for my audience, to help you overcome your fears in all things PC.
I am pushing so hard to help as many people as I can and yeah, trying really hard to have it grow as well, it would help tons if you could share my videos, tremendously as word of mouth is the best advertisement.
Also as for commenting yes, it upsets me all the channels that have all the good stuff, but won't help if you have a question, they don't care about their audience, and I get if they don't answer a few comments, I miss some too, youtube is horrible about notifications, but they dont reply to any. Those channels rely on their own audience to help other viewers but the problem is many will give bad advice and I want to make sure to help everyone with good information and they can share that information with their friends, knowing that it is correct.

I did some beach testing and my m.2 drive was doing 349% when I installed my video card and did a bench my m.2 dropped in benching to 315% so was curious if my video card caused my m.2 to go lower on bench testing?

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  3 года назад +2

The ssd dropped because the video card took some pcie lanes. Things that take pcie lanes are sata drives, m.2 sata drives, anything that goes in the pcie slots,... Trying to think of more. The manufacturers site will tell you if it's a gen 3 or 4. Also, update your sata controller and raid drivers, that should help performance as well. What are you using for testing? And thanks for your kind words. Also, the board manufacturer will tell you which m.2 ports are by 4 or by 3 and you might be able to raise them if they are not already set in the bios.

Thank you for this video. It helped me to update bios today. Only thing is I can’t get the other MB driver updates to install. AMD chipset update worked but haven’t tried the other updates for it, was stuck on the MB and never got back to finishing the cpu update.

@@ThisBytesForYou it’s the same setup as in your video. 5600x, B550 F gaming wifi. Are those MB drivers installed the same way as the bios update? Meaning from the thumb drive in the bios settings? Or like other driver updates where you just download and install? Or do I need to install the other drivers in order from oldest to newest? This is my first gaming pc. I’ve had dell work stations before but nothing that was actually as important to me as this since this is my build and not a pre built. Thanks.

@@MountainMcCumbee you can copy the drivers you download to the thumb drive, then copy them on to the windows install and install them, you can get all the drivers here: rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-wi-fi-model/helpdesk/

Thank you so much!! Question: the latest BIOS does not have a save and reset/ only save and exit... so where do i go from there to install windows?

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  2 года назад +1

There is no save and reset, save and exit is what you do. If you don't have an os on that drive, it will boot from the thumb drive with windows on it. Do you have that?

This keeps coming up even after I update the BIOS. Any suggestion on this?

This has been a GREAT video!!!!!! Thank you soooooo much Question: I have a new build on a fantastic used mobo. Had to flash the BIOS as the old owner was using an older CPU. I have successfully flashed to BIOS for MY (newer) CPU and it POSTed and reads all components.....BUT.....My question is.....I have 2 BIOS chips on this board, do I / should I repeat the process with the board in BIOS 2 mode....to flash the 2nd chip so it is a "usable" backup.....cause right now, if my new BIOS failed or got corrupted....my 2nd, backup BIOS wouldn't work at all in it's old config....

    Hi
i have a question about bios flashing...let say i have ver 1.0 of the bios..And on the asus homepage there is bios ver 2.0,3.0,4.0 and 5.0..Do i need to update them in order or can i just jump to ver 5.0???

That is a great question my friend, but you would have to check that link. Read each of the BIOS' between the version you have an the latest, some BIOS' will say you need to flash to this version before you get to this version, but not all, so check first. Thanks so much for that great question.

put them all on a thumb drive and install. Not sure if it will work out of the box though, I did not try that but I don't see why it would not.

I completely understand, and agree to be concerned with that, but those types of BIOS will list that you need to be on this version, before you go to this version and so, this would be on the BIOS support site I sent you, but it was not listed, so you are good.

I am getting a Samsung 970 Evo 1tb m.2. do I need to do the Link thing and what gen do I do
At 5:06 you changed something from auto to x4. What does this do? Do I need to do it for the 3060ti fe?
Can I just enable DOCP and be done?
Do I need to hold down the bios flash button?
What is SB link mode and do I need to change it?
    Sincerely, Zander Sachs

    • @ThisBytesForYou

x4 would have been for the video card and the M.2 drive, the TI' is a x4 card. Yes, enable DOCP and it will take care of you. SB Link mode keeps the cards at the same PCIE speed.

nothing displays on the monitor, where do you have the monitor plugged into the PC, you can't just go to the mechanic without your car, telling them it doesnt work and it makes a funny noise, and 3 lights turn on and expect the to know what the issues is, I need more.

      5. Power supply
      6. Monitor.
      7. Are you running through HDMI, DP, DVI, VGA, etc?
      8. UEFI in the BIOS from Legacy. If it was set to Legacy, you will need to reinstall windows to get correct support.
      9. Disable CSM in the BIOS
