Flashing gives you a lot of features. Flashing Bios for Ryzen 5000 or Flashing Bios for Ryzen 3000 will allow you to utilize the latest generation of AMD CPU's. This will give you support for AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. For this, we will be flashing BIOS with USB, a USB thumbdrive. This will help you on how to update motherboard bios, how to update the BIOS and how to update your BIOS. This will also show you why you should update motherboard BIOS and when to update motherboard bios. It will also show you where to find motherboard BIOS and how to flash BIOS.
It used to be flashing your BIOS was like playing a game of Chess, while a lot is well thought out, there is always the chance of your opponent making a wild move, your opponent in this case being power more often than not, the power could go out. So while this is not a guide in how to play chess, this is a guide on how to flash your bios.

awesome my friend, so very happy I could help you on this, and thanks so much for your support, it means the world to me.
Hey, thanks for the video. Can I upgrade my bios without reinstalling everything like I would update windows? Without any flash drives
Always a pleasure my friend, and yes, you can flash the bios without messing with your OS but just know you will need to reset the BIOS afterwards, so it might be a good idea to take screenshots for later.
On this mobo, SATA ports 5 and 6 are automatically disabled if you use a second NVME M.2, so I'm not sure what enabling them in the BIOS will accomplish.
I was wondering where my 1tb drive disappeared to. Thank you 🙏🏾
Cheers friend Love your clarity!
Cheers friend, thank you so much for your kind words, I hope you enjoyed the video as well.
Very helpful. Was great to have some hand holding as i've not built a PC in 8 years!!
always a pleasure my friend, so very happy I could help you
You don't need to power up the MOBO to updates it's BIOS. One simply puts the MOBO updater drive in the rear USB port marked "BIOS", and hold the button for 3 seconds. Wait a few mins for the LED to stop lighting up, and once the light stays off it's done.
Great video, though!
that is if your CPU is not supported, it's called BIOS flashback, you cannot do that if your CPU is supported. Thanks for the compliments as well, and I am so happy you enjoyed it.
Awesome vid, also I’d dig seeing a RAID vid too. Cheers
Thanks my friend, I will what I can do about raid

when you were installing the secondary SSD do I need to do this with a SATA drive
if it's the 2nd drive yes if not, you won't see it in windows.
I’m planning to use a m.2 500GB SSD for general use and a 1TB SATA for games and photos and anything storage consuming
sounds great to me.
Excellent video man. Thanks for making it so clear.
Now, a question, did you experience any issues with your LAN port? Disconnecting, losing packages, Windows not recognizing it?
I don't have this Motherboard yet, I was planning to get it, buy I read that people have issues with the internet connection because of the Intel LAN Chipset.
Thanks in advance.
thanks so much my friend, so very happy you enjoyed it. If you do experience this, Uninstall the LAN drivers it has now, then rescan for drivers and let windows pic it up, that should help. This was the issue they were having
@@ThisBytesForYou thanks for your quick response, didn't buy it yet, but IF I find this problem I'm doing this.
I've read on Reddit, that a guy downloaded the LAN drivers directly from the Intel site. This is for anyone having this issue.
@@fergatoreyvirgo always a pleasure my friend, well this is one of those things where I hate asus for re-writting the installer. The problem is they are not tapping the INF file correctly, you can manually point to the INF and install it correctly through the device manager and it would work perfectly, Intel has of course kept their installer perfect which is why it works.
@@ThisBytesForYou I agree!
@ThisBytesForYou I finally got the Strix B550 F motherboard, now I have a question, should I format my SSD and do a clean Win install, or not?

Thanks my bud
if I download windows and use a flash drive instead of the product key will I face any problems in the future. or will I need to buy a product key
you will need a product key later, the windows 10 install will last you for a few months then you will see the windows 10 water mark, after about 6 months or so, the performance will start to drop and you will need to either enter your product key, or just wipe and reload the operating system.
thanks for the heads up

Best tutorial for the initial setup! Most youtubers just fast forward all this and make it look like they show every thing!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support my friend, it means the world to me and I am so very happy I could help you. Also, that is one of the reasons I started this channel, at 13, the internet was not really out... I had to learn everything on my own... my uncles and step father knew about computers, but didn't have time for me.... so I had to teach myself everything.
Fast forward a few years, youtube came out, and there were a few tech channels, and every knew how to do stuff and said, here is easy, look and flew threw things, didn't really show it, which to me means they don't know either, but that's a different story. I would see in the comments people saying thanks so much for the help, but I have this question, stuff they would fly over in the videos, and they would never get answered, so that made me want to make this channel.
I was a reviewer initially with Dragonblogger, you will find a lot of my videos there (I started ThisBytesForYou 5 years ago, so it would be after that but I am still very close with Justin Germino, the owner of Dragonblogger) then I came here and did everything on my own but with my focus on teaching everything I could, I am so very happy I could help you.
@@ThisBytesForYou interesting! Thanks for sharing your journey with the pc world..its so great that we are getting your extensive knowledge basically for free.
For somone like me who is going to build the first pc ever. This is invaluable. Other channels only focus on fancy editing , music lights and high production quality just to get more and more subscribers since that sells well to attract wider audience.
They barely reply to comments and are always looking for hot topics to cover without any substantial knowledge to be shared! Although I do enjoy those videos at times to get some news briefly but the real stuff is what you are doing with your channel for sure! Keep up the good work and sharing your knowledge 👏 I am sure this channel is bound to grow more 🙌
@@abhisheksakpal484 thanks so much my friend for wording it all so well, this is exactly what I am going after. I don't care about pretty lights and fancy editing (mind you, I will get there is video quality one day) but I want to focus on what's good for my audience, to help you overcome your fears in all things PC.
I am pushing so hard to help as many people as I can and yeah, trying really hard to have it grow as well, it would help tons if you could share my videos, tremendously as word of mouth is the best advertisement.
Also as for commenting yes, it upsets me all the channels that have all the good stuff, but won't help if you have a question, they don't care about their audience, and I get if they don't answer a few comments, I miss some too, youtube is horrible about notifications, but they dont reply to any. Those channels rely on their own audience to help other viewers but the problem is many will give bad advice and I want to make sure to help everyone with good information and they can share that information with their friends, knowing that it is correct.

@@ThisBytesForYou everything is working great! Got my ryzen 5 5600x working and moving very smooth thanks to your tips
Hey man keep up the good work, you make really detailed videos not many channels offer, very professional. I have an off topic question regarding the 3090 Ultra, are you having any issues with it? Because I am using it for a week now but reading all the issues it has online on EVGA forums it’s making me really scared a failure of the card could happen anytime. What about yours, is it running fine?
not a single issue and I have been using it for a while now in this build, benching, stressing, gaming and all, check it out: ruclips.net/video/9gg8w8BHGns/видео.html. Please remember, when you are reading the forums, people mainly go online to bitch, people that have nice things to say, rarely get on to say them, so more bitching then thanking.
Thank you so much for your kind words my friend, I really do appreciate it and I thank you so much for stopping by and checking ThisBytesForYou out, please do let me know if you have any other questions.
Keep it up!
Thanks my friend, so very happy you enjoyed it and so happy i could help you.

@@ThisBytesForYou It's RUclipsrs such as yourself that make building a pc and other tech endeavours such a breeze.
On that note idk if you would know, but even after following your steps in the bios ..on the utility menu it seems my maximum bandwidth for the ram is 2133 or around there when my ram is actually 3600mhz. On device manager it shows to be 3600mhz but unsure why this is as I feel like it could be incorrect.
Mind you the pc was under a low load so unsure if that affects the clock speed
Thank you so much my friend, I do greatly appreciate your kind words. In your bios, did you enable xmp or docp for the memory?
@@ThisBytesForYou I did docp like you showed
@@AA-oy5iq make sure to also adjust the FCLK and the Memory frequency as I showed in the video as well. Not all memory support DOCP standards though, so you may have to set it manually.
sent this to a friend so he wouldn't mess up flashing his bios 10/10
awesome bud, so very happy I could help you and i hope they enjoy it as well.
Very awesome and well explained video. Question for u on the m.2 how do u know if it’s gen 3 r gen 4. Can I select gen 4 even if I’m not sure? I did some beach testing and my m.2 drive was doing 349% when I installed my video card and did a bench my m.2 dropped in benching to 315% so was curious if my video card caused my m.2 to go lower on bench testing?
The ssd dropped because the video card took some pcie lanes. Things that take pcie lanes are sata drives, m.2 sata drives, anything that goes in the pcie slots,... Trying to think of more. The manufacturers site will tell you if it's a gen 3 or 4. Also, update your sata controller and raid drivers, that should help performance as well. What are you using for testing? And thanks for your kind words. Also, the board manufacturer will tell you which m.2 ports are by 4 or by 3 and you might be able to raise them if they are not already set in the bios.
Do you have a video on attaching all the wires to the motherboard? Especially all those tiny ones for Power on, Restart, HDD Activity etc.
Sure, you mean like this: ruclips.net/video/_2AmUgYjuWY/видео.html but maybe this one will be better for you: ruclips.net/video/k6A3MG3yJzQ/видео.html

This was a great video and series you put together in the ASUS Strix b550-f gaming motherboard! I just bought this motherboard and literally all the components to put a brand new gaming system together. This will be my first ever build and I am super excited! I want to Thank you for all the great advice and how to videos you have put together!

Thank you for this video. It helped me to update bios today. Only thing is I can’t get the other MB driver updates to install. AMD chipset update worked but haven’t tried the other updates for it, was stuck on the MB and never got back to finishing the cpu update.
Always a pleasure my friend, so very happy you stopped by, trusted in me to help you, liked and subbed as well as took a moment out of your day to thank me. It means a ton to me and I am so very happy I could help you. Well, what is the manufacturer and model name of your motherboard?
@@ThisBytesForYou it’s the same setup as in your video. 5600x, B550 F gaming wifi. Are those MB drivers installed the same way as the bios update? Meaning from the thumb drive in the bios settings? Or like other driver updates where you just download and install? Or do I need to install the other drivers in order from oldest to newest? This is my first gaming pc. I’ve had dell work stations before but nothing that was actually as important to me as this since this is my build and not a pre built. Thanks.
@@MountainMcCumbee you can copy the drivers you download to the thumb drive, then copy them on to the windows install and install them, you can get all the drivers here: rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-wi-fi-model/helpdesk/

Thank you so much!! Question: the latest BIOS does not have a save and reset/ only save and exit... so where do i go from there to install windows?
There is no save and reset, save and exit is what you do. If you don't have an os on that drive, it will boot from the thumb drive with windows on it. Do you have that?
Thanks for the video! I know this video is a bit old, but I have a question. When trying to install Windows, I consistently run into this error message:
"The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant."
This keeps coming up even after I update the BIOS. Any suggestion on this?
So that I can help, please list the manufacturer and exact model number of the following components:
1. Motherboard - manufacturer and exact model number
2. CPU - manufacturer and exact model number
3. RAM - manufacturer and exact model number
4. Video Card - manufacturer and exact model number
5. Power supply - manufacturer and exact model number
6. UEFI in the BIOS from Legacy. If it was set to Legacy, you will need to reinstall windows to get correct support.
7. Disable CSM in the BIOS
8. M.2 - Manufacturer and exact model number, if you have any, and how many you have in this system
9. Regular SSD - Manufacturer and exact model number, if you have any, and how many you have in this system
10. Hard Drive - Manufacturer and exact model number, if you have any, and how many you have in this system
11. How did you create the windows 10 install media?
This has been a GREAT video!!!!!! Thank you soooooo much Question: I have a new build on a fantastic used mobo. Had to flash the BIOS as the old owner was using an older CPU. I have successfully flashed to BIOS for MY (newer) CPU and it POSTed and reads all components.....BUT.....My question is.....I have 2 BIOS chips on this board, do I / should I repeat the process with the board in BIOS 2 mode....to flash the 2nd chip so it is a "usable" backup.....cause right now, if my new BIOS failed or got corrupted....my 2nd, backup BIOS wouldn't work at all in it's old config....
yeah, that is a good idea, flash the second one. Thanks so much for letting me know this video helped you, it means a ton to me. thanks as well for liking and subbing and checking out the video. So very happy I could help.
Hi
i have a question about bios flashing...let say i have ver 1.0 of the bios..And on the asus homepage there is bios ver 2.0,3.0,4.0 and 5.0..Do i need to update them in order or can i just jump to ver 5.0???
Peter
That is a great question my friend, but you would have to check that link. Read each of the BIOS' between the version you have an the latest, some BIOS' will say you need to flash to this version before you get to this version, but not all, so check first. Thanks so much for that great question.
Thnx
always a pleasure my friend, so very happy you enjoyed it and I hope it has helped you
Hey there buddy, the build was great and everything works, but i dont get the computer to boot to install windows 11, i have same set, plus i tried others aswell cant get the computer to go from bios to windows intall? Do you guys have some pointers for a first time pc builder and new on bios setups
Thanks bud, did you make the drive like this: ruclips.net/video/ayp8TksEtoY/видео.html
At 7:05 after you said it taking about 7 minutes, I clicked it, put my phone down, put my hands on my arm rests because I was going to get up... I looked at the screen and it was already at 20% lol
I didn't time it, just kinda eye balled it, and I do have double vision, so maybe 14 minutes lol
Can you connect to wifi before installing the Asus wifi drivers? Or do I need to put all of the drivers on a flash drive and install them from that because I don't have ethernet in my house?
put them all on a thumb drive and install. Not sure if it will work out of the box though, I did not try that but I don't see why it would not.
Hi! I want to update the bios of my B550-F from the original version (0244 from 2020, previous Ryzen 5000 series release) to the latest (2803). Can I jump from this ancient version to the latest directly? or do I need to install the intermediate versions one by one up to the 2803? Thanks, I love your channel!
there is nothing stating you can't so you should be good: rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-wi-fi-model/helpdesk_bios/
Thanks so much for your kind words my friend I am so very happy I could help you and I am so very happy you enjoy my videos, thanks so much for your support as well, it means the world to me.
@@ThisBytesForYou ur welcome. Thanks for the info. I’ll update it directly to the latest version. I asked because some blogs recommend to install intermediate versions to avoid stuttering.
I completely understand, and agree to be concerned with that, but those types of BIOS will list that you need to be on this version, before you go to this version and so, this would be on the BIOS support site I sent you, but it was not listed, so you are good.
Hi I have a noob question regarding motherboards. I have bought this mobo and I want to ask if its okay if I just put my ssd with windows there. Or do I need to do a fresh windows installation? Will everything be deleted in the process if I do that? Not only windows but my files I mean. Thanks
well you can, but you will have issues, it will work but things will not work 100%, things will be slow and you might get issues, I HIGHLY recommend you reinstall windows like I show you here.
🙏❤️ Thank you! God Bless!

I am getting a Samsung 970 Evo 1tb m.2. do I need to do the Link thing and what gen do I do
At 5:06 you changed something from auto to x4. What does this do? Do I need to do it for the 3060ti fe?
Can I just enable DOCP and be done?
Do I need to hold down the bios flash button?
What is SB link mode and do I need to change it?
Sincerely, Zander Sachs
x4 would have been for the video card and the M.2 drive, the TI' is a x4 card. Yes, enable DOCP and it will take care of you. SB Link mode keeps the cards at the same PCIE speed.
Great video. I have a question though. Can I flash the BIOS without a CPU installed? I have this motherboard, but I am ordering a new 5950X processor, and this motherboard doesn't support it without flashing the BIOS, I think, so how would I flash it with no processor?
yes you can, it's called BIOS Flashback, i wish I could help you on it, but I could not do it because my cpu was supported. Check the manual dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/ROG_STRIX_B550-F_GAMING/E16610_ROG_STRIX_B550-F_GAMING_WI-FI_UM_WEB.pdf
i got a motherboard b550 f rog strix it has a windows 11 ready and a ryzen 5000 desktop ready sticker it means i dont need to BIOS update it?? because i have a 5600X cpu... pls lemme know thanks.
Why do you fight updating the bios?
Hey im wondering, i do not have an graphics card at moment, i having 2 leds on the yellow green and the white and doesnt display nothing at the monitor, i was wondering if you can help me.
nothing displays on the monitor, where do you have the monitor plugged into the PC, you can't just go to the mechanic without your car, telling them it doesnt work and it makes a funny noise, and 3 lights turn on and expect the to know what the issues is, I need more.
So that I can help, please list the manufacturer and exact model number of the following components:
1. Motherboard
2. CPU
3. RAM
4. Video Card
5. Power supply
6. Monitor.
7. Are you running through HDMI, DP, DVI, VGA, etc?
8. UEFI in the BIOS from Legacy. If it was set to Legacy, you will need to reinstall windows to get correct support.
9. Disable CSM in the BIOS
