For the TPM In the BIOS, check Advanced > AMD fTPM Configuration > TPM Device Selection and make sure it's set to Firmware TPM (assuming you don't have a distinct TPM chip installed). In addition to first response Disk needs to be GPT format not MBR. It can be changed if necessary. Then after changing you would need to turn off CSM in bios.
The retail version comes with a printed manual. I just bought one of these, it seems like a decent board. So far I've updated the BIOS to enable Resizeable BAR on my 3090.
@@NeonT3tra25 straight from nvidia With the ever-growing size of modern game assets, this results in a lot of transfers. Using Resizable BAR, assets can instead be requested as-needed and sent in full, so the CPU can efficiently access the entire frame buffer. And if multiple requests are made, transfers can occur concurrently, rather than queuing. Basically instead of small sections loading and "standing in line to load" resizable bar allows for all to load at once giving a possible performance boost in game I use it and see about a 2 to 10 fps increase give or take some
Just got a refurbished one for $100. No risers (used old ones) and no instructions so thank you for the info, especially about the dual channel mode for the RAM. I simply put the sticks in the first two slots, now I have to go back in.
i just bought this and this is one of the most through motherboard review ive seen of this specific model thank you MOK i didnt even need to read the manual :D
Great review. I already purchased the board and had used the manual to set it up. Your video helped catch a few connection errors, especially using the wrong M2 slot, which eliminated the two SATA ports.
Just upgraded from a MSI B450M to wifi version of this board. Looking forward to building it. Case comes in tomorrow. It was really hard to decide on a board.
I hear ya there. Deciding on a motherboard can be pretty tough. It's all about knowing what you need from it, what it can support in terms of drives, I/O, etc., and then Power Delivery and its cooling can be very important too if you're going to put in a demanding CPU. Have fun with your new PC build!
I just ordered this mobo an hour ago but the wifi variant to replace my messed up 2nd hand MSI MEG B550 Unify-X, which has been randomly getting black screens with a 00 debug code and I have no idea what's causing it. I really like this MSI mobo though, it has a power button, reset button and clear cmos button on the mobo along with a debug code LED display and 4 m.2 slots, two of which are pcie 4.0 plus it has 6 USB 3.2 slots on the back, but then again MSRP for this mobo was $300. You are absolutely correct that mobos in this price range even though less expensive then my current mobo, should include the power and clear cmos buttons on the mobo, they should also include the debug code LED display instead of just the stupid debug LEDs that tell you nothing.
I'm planning on getting this board, combined with a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU, on a Black Friday deal in a couple of days. It will be a great upgrade from my current MSI Z170A Gaming M7 board, and a Core i7-6700K Skylake CPU. 😁
Just picked one of these up at microcenter for 150. running a 5700G because I don't want to invest into an old socket. As I suspect the next cpus to be AM5. So far so good. Upgraded from an i7 920 and an MSI 760 Twin Frozr. and what an upgrade that was. So far I have had issues with the old AI Suite III software causing a boot loop. To fix that, I downloaded the AI Suite Uninstaller from Asus. put it on a flash drive and booted to safe mode. I was able to uninstall the software and start installing the new Asus board software without issues. I really appreciate the quality of this in depth video.
Thank you for watching and I'm glad the video was of help. I haven't mucked with AI Suite III since my VII Hero board for my 2700X. I just found it too resource consuming and buggy. The "easy" overclocking would end up creating more crashes than it was worth. In my recent Build video where I used the Strix B550-F I believe I mentioned I didn't install it due to the invasiveness of the software. I'd recommend staying away from it, but the Armoury Crate is decent enough with Aura and other features. You can't overclock or do any of the fan tuning other than some presets, but you can always create a custom fan curve within the BIOS. I did a BIOS tour video for this board as well, it might prove helpful to you.

I'm doing a new build and i manage to find a B550-F Wifi brand new for 120 off a private seller online. Considering how much is usually costs, it seemed like a great deal, but no USB-C header :(
That's a good price. If you need a USB Type-c header for a front port on your case there are PCI-e cards out there that can offer it and give you more ports in the back too.
The intel i227V network unit on this mobo is a bit sketchy... i and many other people have had issues with it, if you don't have an ethernet cable that can do 1GB, like if you have an old cable that you put through your house 10 years ago while building it... or a cable that is just a little bad, but works fine on other computers, then it just straight up won't recognize that you even have an ethernet cable and will give you "no ethernet cable connected". Updating the i227V firmware (which is a big hassle, but i tried it anyway) and testing older and newer firmware and windows drivers doesn't make any difference there's just something about the network unit itself. You can solve this by manually setting it to duplex 10/10 Mb then setting it back up to full duplex 100/100 Mb, but you have to do that every single time you restart your computer or even after going back from sleep mode. Normally the network cards just detect these things automatically but for some reason the one on this mobo is wonky. If you get yourself a new fine ethernet cable it'll be fine though, but still, it shouldn't be like this. Other than that I'd say it's a pretty fine motherboard specially now that the price on it has come down a little bit, earlier market price from a year ago was a bit too much for this kind of board i'd say.
Dang that sounds like a hassle. I’d almost recommend an inexpensive pci Ethernet card at that point. You’d think ASUS would have fixed this or come out with a revision using a different NiC solution
hoo thank you, i'm building a new pc (lastwas 11 years ago) and this is my motherboard of choice, now i have a better overview of everything need to know, i have to flash because it will run a 5800x3d on with a 6950 xt
It may not have a TPM connecter but FTPM "Firmware Trusted Platform Module" enable should be in the Bios settings along with secure Boot. I have just built 2 PC's using the ROG Strix B550 E & B550 XE Mobo's & enabled those 2 settings in the Bios & Confirmed that both my builds are Windows 11 ready.
Thanks for the video! Super helpful! I just bought this board - However, I just realized that it doesn't have a usb 3.2 header for the usb c on my Lian Li 216 case... Do I need to buy an adaptor to address this? Any recommendations?
Check these options I've linked. amzn.to/3RU0DwL One definite option is to add a PCIe card with an internal Type-C connector on it. You can then connect your case type-c cable to it. It also has the added bonus of additional rear ports (usually). This one for example has additional rear ports and 2 front internal type-c ports so you can connect your case and get more in the back. amzn.to/3RU0DwL
so I have the ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) and im struggling with my bluetooth, specifially my wireless headphones and wireless speakers. They connect no problem but when I play something the sound starts off normal for a couple of seconds and then cuts in and out and then cuts out completely. I saw a post on reddit that said to turn off the PSU via the switch and unplug it from the wall.it also said to hold down the power button for 30 seconds and plug everything back in and turn pc on again. It didnt fix anything unfortunately. Do you have any clue on how to solve this?
Intel i225-v nic has known issues on earlier versions. The B550-F uses it and there are reports of poor Ethernet speed. I have seen “things to try” but the only fix is using the 3rd revision of the nic. To sure how to verify the revision by looking at the box before you buy.
Hello sir, I've 3 stock argb fans. And 2 radiator argb fans.. can I connect these 5 argb fans in 1 header? And if yes then how. I want to control those argb lights with auro sync software.
hello, I just mounted my first pc for without cpu (coming soon) from the game with all the new pieces taken from amazon, after having assembled everything and double-checked everything I try to switch on but I only light up the asus logo on the motherboard which can be the problem ??? 😭
so I got this exact motherboard and on the box it says AMD RYZEN 5000 DESKTOP READY and I have a ryzen 7 5800x so does that mean that I don't have to update bios since its already desktop ready for the 5000 series?
That is correct! You're good to go. You may want to update the BIOS just to see if any security holes have been filed or anything like that. However, when it comes to the BIOS and if you're not comfortable, if it's not broke--don't update it. I also have a video that tours this motherboard's BIOS. You may find it helpful should you go and update it. Thank you for watching!
@@MiddleofKnowhere Thanks man you have definitely gained a subscriber i’m going to be building my first PC I have all the parts came in I’m just waiting on my case to come in later on today and then I stumbled upon your video so I just wanted to make sure that I was good to go with my CPU
Hi, if you have 2 jacks, 1 for the mic, the other for the headset speakers, then green and pink (pink is mic). If you have only 1 jack, you may need a splitter OR if your case front audio has only 1 jack that combines both mic and headphones, then you can use that, but you'll probably want to go the splitter route and use the rear inputs as they can sound better.
There are 6 fan headers on the board. You’ll either need a fan splitter, a hub, or daisy chained fans to get 7. Two or three fan splitters are relatively inexpensive.
Ive just bought this board along with 5800x + rx6700 as a Christmas gift, hope its a big improvement on his gigabyte h110 i3 6th gen, + 1060 setup. fingers crossed he's happy. good vid
First, thanks for wathing! As for your question, I really like the AsRock B650 LiveMixer motherboard. It's currently around $150. It has a fun design and a load of features. At the $189 price point There's an ASUS TUF, Gigabyte Aorus AORUS ELITE AX V2, and another ASROCK board that are probably worth looking into. It all depends on the features you need but I think the LiveMixer (also did a review on it) is worth looking into if you don't mind the loud color design.
Great video and amazing levels of detail. Thanks for that. I have been using this motherboard for a few years now and have recently decided to upgrade my storage of 500gb SSD by adding a 4tb M2 4.0. Unfortunately I can't get it to work. Once the M2 is installed it only recognizes that and ignores the old SSD where I have my OS installed. I did read on the manual that if the M2_2 slot is populated the SATA 5 and 6 are disabled but that is not my case as I have it on the 1 slot and using SATA 1 and 2 for my old SSD and a HDD. Any ideas?
Make sure the boot order for your drives is still the same. If you didn't reshuffle anything, like move the OS m.2 to the lower one and put the new m.2 into the upper slot, then it shouldn't be an issue. In the bios though you can set boot priority, so maybe something happened there?
I'm going for the ryzen 9 5900x but thats not working with a B600 series so i need to stay at B500 series or go for the X not that there is something wrong with it bcs i like the B550's but its just a bit weird
Because the 5900X is an AM4 CPU (referring to the socket type), you'll need an AM4 compatible motherboard, so a B550 or X570. This ASUS B550-F would work well with the 5900X.
You can. However, updating it without it installed is sometimes necessary if the motherboard's CURRENT BIOS doesn't support your CPU. For example, I buy a B550 motherboard and it has BIOS 1.0 installed. It supports A and B CPUS. Then C CPUS are released and a BIOS update to 2.0 is required for compatibility with CPU C. If I buy that motherboard and it still has the original BIOS (1.0) installed the computer will not work after installing CPU C until the Update is made. This is why being able to update a BIOS prior to CPU installation using the BIOS flashback button is so important. After you have a BIOS installed compatible with your hardware you'll be able to install everything get the PC up and running and then update the BIOS with the CPU installed no problem. Updating without CPU or RAM installed adds flexibility and is just another method. Hope this helps.
@@MiddleofKnowhere i understand now, thanks. Well, my pc is 2 year old now, i just bought 2x8gb ram cuz i had only 2x8gb (so now i have 4x8) but the 2x new ram not working properly, thats why i want to update my bios, maybe its will fix the ram problem.
Hi. Please answer me one question fo i am kinda confused foe the reason this borad comes with a hdmi and an d.port : does it actualy have onboard graphics ? i can remeber in the past when a board came with some sort of video output that it had a sort of onboard minimum graphics like my ancient asus p7p55d which is no longer among us ... i had no graphics card on that for some time and used it only as a music pc. so if this board has onboard graphics to at least be able to work eith that , thats the board i am gonna go with... thankz
The board doesn’t have onboard graphics but any Ryzen cpu with G at the end like 3200G or 5600G has an integrated GPU (not very powerful) and if you use one of those CPUs, you can use the video ports on the motherboard.
This version of the board does not have integrated wifi, no. You can get a PCIe Card, USB WiFI stick, or get the WiFi version of the motherboard: amzn.to/39mwvFQ
You should be able to with a PCIe card. Have a look at this card here to see if it's something that would suit your needs. It has 3 type-c ports on the back and one to connect your case type-c header to: amzn.to/3JoNyVt
Fantastic video! I am doing a build and trying to compare the ASUS ROG Strix B550-A (white) with the MSI B550-A Pro Proseries, which would you recommend?
I've Used the MSI B550-A Pro before and it has loads of features, like Front and rear USB Type-C that the B550-F doesn't (only rear). Both are slick boards though, so really comes down to what all you need. If you need a front type-c port for a case that has it, then the Pro all the way. I think they both perform comparatively when it comes to Power Delivery and RAM compatibility.
@@MiddleofKnowhere Thank you for the insightful reply! I think I'll go with the Strix if I use a white case and the MSI if I use a black one, we will see lol. Cheers!
R5 5600g specification shows "System Memory Up to 3200MHz" . Here my question is the max ram speed it supports only upto 3200 mhz only or even more. i am asking this because i am using 3600MHZ ram.
Did you set the ram xmp profile in the bios for your 3600 speed? You can also check by downloading cpu-a and in the memory tab you’ll see the ram speed (it will be roughly half as you double it to get the 3600 or 3200).
The Be Quiet! case has a USB 3 type a port and a USB 3 type-C port, so you'll need each of those on the motherboard. If memory serves, this motherboard doesn't have an internal type-c header, so you won't use that. OR you can get a PCI adapter to make use of it if you absolutely need it.
Only rgb connectors plug into an rgb header. Fan hubs are for controlling multiple fans’ speeds. Rgb and argb hubs can have multiple of those kinds of connectors. You can find your motherboard’s product page online and find the manual as well. This should help you.
I'd say the motherboard is still good yes. Has loads of rear i/o, good internal i/o and supports a variety of cpus, including that 5600x. The GPU/CPU combo you have going will fit well with this motherboard, and if you can afford it, you could upgrade the CPU to a 5800X3D, 5900X, or even a 5950X depending on your budget/needs.
Can we use rog strix B550 f wifi for professional studio recording ?. Is rog strix supreme fx s 1220a, audio codec recommended for professional recording. Pl. clear.
So this codec from some research is regarded as being pretty good. However, I'm of the opinion if you want to do professional recording, you will want to invest in an external solution or at the very least some kind of audio PCIe card. If you don't have extra cash to do so at the moment, then I'd say use the onboard solution for now while saving up. Ultimately, no motherboard's onboard sound won't be as good as an external solution dedicated to what you're trying to do be it voice over, sound effects, or music production, but it's a start.
tysm for this video! this is probably a stupid question (as I'm building a pc for the first time) but would I need to buy a wifi card for this motherboard?

11:09 I thought for later B550s mobos SATA 5+6 ports were not disabled when using the 2nd M.2 slot. Is this a common drawback among all B550s?
It's the give and take of B550 mobos. If you use all M.2 slots you usually lose some other functionality be it a PCIe slot or SATA ports.

@@MiddleofKnowhere ok thank you. I dont have the rgb cable, i got this new from micro center. what should I do?
You probably won’t need the rgb adapter but contact mc and let them know they’ll either exchange it or maybe give you a discount.

My Asus Tuf B550 gaming plus failed yesterday less then 2 years old 😥😔🤦♂️ the mess up thing i live outside the USA so no help for me 🤦♂️😔
There should still be a warranty on the thing no?
hoo thank you, i'm building a new pc (lastwas 11 years ago) and this is my motherboard of choice, now i have a better overview of everything
need to know, i have to flash because it will run a 5800x3d on with a 6950 xt
My usb c only seems to charge things anyone know how I can use it to connect my oculus?
FYI: 6 Layer PCB = gud. Beware of 4 layer pcb mobos!

Where is the best VRM power supply? ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming or Gigabyte B550 AORUS Elite V2 ?
I have B550 F gaming wifi motherboard. My motherboard stopped reading my RAM after Bios update. What could be the issue?
It may not have a TPM connecter but FTPM "Firmware Trusted Platform Module" enable should be in the Bios settings along with secure Boot. I have just built 2 PC's using the ROG Strix B550 E & B550 XE Mobo's & enabled those 2 settings in the Bios & Confirmed that both my builds are Windows 11 ready.
Just bought a B550 F Wifi II and paired with a Ryzen 7 5800x and iced it with a '22 Zotac 3050 Twin Edge. Brilliant.
@Broadlight how is this treating you bro I just bought the same but a 5800x3D I’m excited to build on the weekend
Thanks for the video! Super helpful!
I just bought this board - However, I just realized that it doesn't have a usb 3.2 header for the usb c on my Lian Li 216 case... Do I need to buy an adaptor to address this? Any recommendations?
Check these options I've linked. amzn.to/3RU0DwL
One definite option is to add a PCIe card with an internal Type-C connector on it.
What screwdriver is required to unscrew the part for the ssd on the motherboard? I am currently really struggling to unscrew the screws
A very tiny philips. PH0 I think.
Hello sir, I've 3 stock argb fans. And 2 radiator argb fans.. can I connect these 5 argb fans in 1 header? And if yes then how. I want to control those argb lights with auro sync software.
if you get a splitter cable you might be able to yes. Check out this right here: amzn.to/3AK56I8
Great in depth review.
Much appreciated! Thank you for watching.
hello, I just mounted my first pc for without cpu (coming soon) from the game with all the new pieces taken from amazon, after having assembled everything and double-checked everything I try to switch on but I only light up the asus logo on the motherboard which can be the problem ??? 😭
so I got this exact motherboard and on the box it says AMD RYZEN 5000 DESKTOP READY and I have a ryzen 7 5800x so does that mean that I don't have to update bios since its already desktop ready for the 5000 series?
That is correct! You're good to go. You may want to update the BIOS just to see if any security holes have been filed or anything like that. However, when it comes to the BIOS and if you're not comfortable, if it's not broke--don't update it. I also have a video that tours this motherboard's BIOS. You may find it helpful should you go and update it. Thank you for watching!
@@MiddleofKnowhere Thanks man you have definitely gained a subscriber i’m going to be building my first PC I have all the parts came in I’m just waiting on my case to come in later on today and then I stumbled upon your video so I just wanted to make sure that I was good to go with my CPU
hi... if i want to connect my headset to keep things simple which color audio i need to connect too?
Hi, if you have 2 jacks, 1 for the mic, the other for the headset speakers, then green and pink (pink is mic). If you have only 1 jack, you may need a splitter OR if your case front audio has only 1 jack that combines both mic and headphones, then you can use that, but you'll probably want to go the splitter route and use the rear inputs as they can sound better.
Hi, great and detailed video. Are the HDMI and display port outputs for CPUs with integrated video cards? Thank you.
That is correct. Yes, they are.
Hi sir, can u please tell by any chance how to connect 7 fans to this motherboard without a usb splitter, only 7 fans none of them is a cpu cooler
There are 6 fan headers on the board. You’ll either need a fan splitter, a hub, or daisy chained fans to get 7. Two or three fan splitters are relatively inexpensive.
Hi good vid i found mine for $109 USD on amazon mine is the ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming no wifi and it was cheap

Ive just bought this board along with 5800x + rx6700 as a Christmas gift, hope its a big improvement on his gigabyte h110 i3 6th gen, + 1060 setup. fingers crossed he's happy. good vid
That’s a very nice upgrade!
Thank you for the thorough review. If you had to buy a motherboard in the same range today, what would it be?
In the bios though you can set boot priority, so maybe something happened there?
how much normal fans can i plug in
how do i install wifi? or is it preinstalled?
I'm going for the ryzen 9 5900x but thats not working with a B600 series so i need to stay at B500 series or go for the X not that there is something wrong with it bcs i like the B550's but its just a bit weird
Because the 5900X is an AM4 CPU (referring to the socket type), you'll need an AM4 compatible motherboard, so a B550 or X570. This ASUS B550-F would work well with the 5900X.
Best vídeo on RUclips 👍
So i cant update my bios if the Cpu is in? Why? Can someone explain to me?
MSI B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI VS MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK VS ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING
WHICH ONE U SUGGEST FOR GAMING?
This is a great video!!
Thank you!!
Did anyone else have to do a bio update for this board so they could use a Ryzen 5 5600x?
so i can't plug in a tp link antenna in the back?
This version of the board does not have integrated wifi, no. You can get a PCIe Card, USB WiFI stick, or get the WiFi version of the motherboard: amzn.to/39mwvFQ
@@MiddleofKnowhere so a tp link usb adapter wifi antenna won't work?
It will. I’ve used those before including on this mobo when doing updates after windows install.
I got this board on sale, too bad it doesn’t come with type c.
Is there way to add usb c to the motherboard since my case includes it ?
You can also check by downloading cpu-a and in the memory tab you’ll see the ram speed (it will be roughly half as you double it to get the 3600 or 3200).
this board run weird in my system
not recomended
I have a question would my master liquid 360L liquid cooler work with the motherboard?
Should work yes
Do you have any idea what type of adapter/cable I neeed to use in order to connect this mobo to be quiet pure base500fx usb ports ?
The Be Quiet! case has a USB 3 type a port and a USB 3 type-C port, so you'll need each of those on the motherboard. If memory serves, this motherboard doesn't have an internal type-c header, so you won't use that. OR you can get a PCI adapter to make use of it if you absolutely need it.
@@MiddleofKnowhere Thanks for feedback m8
Where do I plug a fan hub into on this mo??? I’m so lost it’s my first pc
you can plug any fan hub, usually into a 4-pin header some you cannot, so you gotta make sure to read the instructions too.
@@MiddleofKnowhere my mo was refurbished so it only came with box and m.2 screws so would I plug it into the bottom rgb header?
Only rgb connectors plug into an rgb header. Fan hubs are for controlling multiple fans’ speeds. Rgb and argb hubs can have multiple of those kinds of connectors. You can find your motherboard’s product page online and find the manual as well. This should help you.
@@MiddleofKnowhere thank u 🙏🙂
Hey, can I take the 4 pin and just connect it to the 4 pin? Like where it says PCIE ?
Anyone know what the difference is between this board and the Gaming 2 version?
hi bro does this motherboard still good in 2023 and for like two more years with the rx 6750xt and r5 5600x
Thanks for watching. You won’t need a wifi card if you can connect an Ethernet cable to the computer.
thank you mate for best suport
Any time!
