I heard of a tip for an inside cabin. Since it's dark in the morning cause there's no window. Turn your TV to the channel with the bridge cam and mute before bed. When you wake up you'll have light from the TV screen.
My tip is don’t bring too much stuff. I like packing everything in one carry on and a back pack or tote bag. I bring a white kitchen trash bag for my laundry I do my laundry near the end of the cruise if there is a laundry area if not I’ll had wash using tide hand wash packets. I also learned quick that hairspray is not a good idea for inside rooms so my hair is only brushed and put up or left down. Minimal makeup small travel size everything or smaller shampoo the size of a quarter and not washing my hair everyday means less needed just enough to fit in a small container ((sample jars from lush)). Less to pack less to carry less space needed more peace of mind
For the tiny closet issue...Shower curtain hangers would work. Use them to stack the hangers (pack some extra between a layer of your clothes; they take up no room for several extra hangers. Since they are already opened or you can open them, you just slide them around the hangers. Plus they are strong enough to handle heavy clothes. Sometimes I've had to put several pair of pants or entire outfits on one hanger to make additional room, when traveling. They can also handle the weight of a shoe organizer, or you can hang that on the original hanger and then cascade down with outfits, etc. Taking our first cruise in May 25th. So glad you have this channel. Blessings to you all.
I try to always make use of the under bed space (shoes, under bed hamper and such). With a little pre-planning, you can get by with much less space than you would think. Sample/travel sized everything for the bathroom, smaller bottles for non-prescription meds that allow for a few extra should you have any delayed or canceled flights. I also pack back up cords for my cell phone and cameras because sometimes they can be hard to find onboard the ship or while in port for some items (keep in mind that just about everything in Alaska has to be shipped or flown in and that will be reflected in the prices). Be sure to test out all cords and cables before you go, I hate dragging something along only to find out it isn't working. Power strips are a must, and I always have an extention cord (light weight one) in case I need to charge something while I am sitting somewhere other than the desk. A handy tip most people don't know about, carry an outlet adaptor (not a converter) to make use of the 220 volt outlets that most cabins have. If you look carefully, you will notice most cell phone and laptop chargers are duel voltage. That means you can run them using the 110 volt or 220 volt outlets without damaging them. Since you won't need to convert from 220 volt to 110 volt, a simple (and usually cheaper and lighter) adaptor will work fine!
Thank you for opening my eyes to packing cubes! We normally stay inside and I normally take a shelf or two to place my cubes. I put a few hangers in the closet for formal night. My dirty clothes go in my suitcase so little additional storage is needed. Another great video! Wow, 21k!
+Boat Lover i'm so glad it helped. I don't think I've ever use packing cubes as much as I did on this cruise once I was on the ship. I completely counting on them to be my clothing holders.
I'm here to say that I love an inside cabin for the fact it is dark..even on my very first cruise and i was in a cabin on my own cause of an upgrade..I wasn,t worried at all..No night light for me..no siree.. i love it and if you need to rest cause of a headache or something ..you can.. I dont nap either.. I want to experience every minute of the cruise.. Bedtime for me too ( i go on music cruises in australia) isnt till well after 3am and then up again at 8.30.. Oh thx .. the vid as always is brilliant..thankyou both xx
We went on the Alaska cruise in August, and our kids (older) had a room on A Deck forward. It was moderately rough for a couple of days so they had to use a small strip of Duck tape to keep the drawers closed at night.
Great Video. Boxed cubes, from Target, that fold flat are key. We always book an Inside cabin. These are 1/2 price or less of a balcony cabin. We book “off season” or “non peak” cruise times. ie Sept - Nov. or right after New Years Eve,, between Thanksgiving & Christmas,,, or when kids are in school. These times means that the ship will not be sold out, providing opportunity to deal or negotiate for an upgrade.
I started bringing pump handsoap after your recommendation many cruises ago. One thing I do, to save "weight" in my luggage and to save bringing a half-full bottle home again (our home is in Canada) -- at home, if I have a handsoap that we particulary love, when it gets to about 1/3 full I will seal it safely in bags and put it away for our next cruise. It's only hubs and I, so I have found 1/3 of a bottle is perfect for 1 week. That way on disembarkation, the bottle simply stays on board. Sometimes if we arrive a day early for our cruise I will pop into a drugstore and buy a pump handsoap, too. For .99 cents, it's still worth it to just leave it in the cabin after we go. LOVE having home pump handsoap on a cruise! I can't stand the feeling of hand sanitizer on my hands so we wash wash wash on board to avoid gastro.
LOVE this tip so much. You are brilliant! No waste is always nice ;-) UGH, on our 10 night cruise would you believe we went through an entire bottle? I blame my son who uses like 5 pumps per hand washing!
Good tips. Very organized. I was thinking, if there are 2 top beds, you could fold the other one down and store things up there as well. If you dont mind the bed being down. Just a thought. I've never been on a cruise, but it's something I'm wanting to do more and more. Hopefully one day soon.
Went on our first cruise in July and the magnet hooks tip was great. I also picked up some plain earth magnets that were about the size of quarters and twice as thick. Wasn't sure what I was going to use them for but they didn't take up any room so why not. We used them for our schedules to hanging pictures we purchased. I wished I had bought more.
You are a joy to watch! I’m going on a 10 day cruise on Norwegian Cruise lines “The Epic” I am going in a group of about 20 people with my sister & her hubby! Inside cabin for me single occupancy! I’m very excited any in put you may I would love to hear!
We just had our sailing moved to the Grand from the Star and I think I may need to revise my packing list. Holy small closet!! One thing we will bring is one of the narrow hanging shoe racks (the ones that hang in the closet) for all oir shoes and some of my sons small clothes. We'll be just down the hall in A716.
The map is a great idea. And I need to get some magnetic hooks. I think our ocean view had the same amount of space, but the beds were arranged differently. We also had sewing machine cases, but with only two of us, we had plenty of room. Mine went in the closet and Ruth's went under the window.
Were in the same cabin but on the Ruby. I was a little shocked at how small the closet is in these two ships. Nothing like our inside on the Caribbean. We're bringing a couple foldable cloth boxes for all our shoes to keep them organized. We had hoped to do the Grand, but the price for the B2B was a little our of our budget. Thanks Sheri!
Stephanie Hanuman-Dale it is my experience that the hanger head stays on the rod while the hanger part comes off. Don't know about Princess but that is how Carnival, NCL and Royal are
Super glad I found this video. My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) are booked in an oceanview cabin on the NCL sun for a 9 day cruise to Alaska RT from Seattle and I was kinda stressed on how I would organize everything for the lot of us. Im thinking ill get some of those magnetic hooks for the wall to hang coats if NCL has small closets like this. 😅 Love the map idea! 🗺 Thank you! ❤️
In our cabin we always have the remove the coffee table and extra chairs. We keep the couch and the vanity seat but anything else we get rid of. This is also because my family travels with a member in a scooter or on forearm crutches. Makes maneuvering so much easier. But on our last one I did love your idea of the magnets and storage bag for the bathroom door and did that and worked so nice, Thanks for the ideas.
Great video, Sheri. Gotta say, though, that we just have to have our balcony! It was suggested on another video I watched to put one of those suctioncup item holders in the shower for more space for soaps, shampoo etc. I have to say that I have loved using that and it also can hold my travel pouf that I get at Target ( half the size of a normal one). Thank you, again!
I just cant say enough how much I am appreciating all these greaat videos. Not only are they full of tips, but they're getting me SO excited to go on my cruise!!!! :)
here's my tip for you with your dry erase board. hand sanitizer. I don't know if your wipes would work, but 99% of the time liquid hand sanitizer and a paper towel or rag will take off stubborn dry erase marks. (also invest in the better markers.)
We bought the cruise companion Alaska book while on our cruise 2 weeks ago. It comes with a map of BC and Alaska. We didn't find out about it until the end of the cruise but our Captain used it in the Princess Patter as to where we were heading and where to find it on the map provided. I wish we would have known about the book at the beginning of the cruise. The book is put out by Princess. I have never been in a inside cabin and I am spoiled now with a balcony. Your cabin looks alot like ours when we travel. We use the plug behind the TV as well for an a power bar to charge things. We bring two mini power bars (non surge protected).
I’m glad you mentioned the curling iron because I was curious about hairdryers and curling iron’s. I guess they probably supply the hairdryers. But, I assumed not the curling iron’s. Thanks for solving a mystery for me. I would think curling irons are just as dangerous as irons, but what do I know.
Hi Sheri. I think that I might be the first subscriber of your 20K (nice job) to do a Cruise Tips TV binge. With all those fans you might not remember me but I'm a dealer on RCCL and, unfortunately, am trapped on board in Florida because our cruise was cancelled because of hurricane Irma and the ship is moored while we batten down the hatches. I never even knew that you were going to Alaska-sounds like fun. I thought that I'd check in before we lose Internet. Since there's no need for the casino staff they reassigned us and I wound up going into a ton of balcony cabins and pulling all the chairs and tables into the cabins and then making sure the doors were locked tight. Anyway, here's a storage/packing tip. I don't know what it's called in the US but you can get hangers that hang on hangers that hang on other hangers, sort of like a ladder. The stuff can wrinkle but it's good for the things that you don't care about in that way like your son's clothes, bathrobes, bathing (dry) suits, medium weight jackets, etc. I stopped noticing the feel of the deck moving a long time ago during my first contract but we can feel it now. Luckily, our cabins don't have portholes and I have the lower bunk in my cabin. Wish us luck and enjoy the rest of your cruise.
CruiseTipsTV Thank you everyone. I wouldn't say that it's eerie here, but it's strange. Usually when all the cruisers are leaving a new batch is coming in. Now the promenade is quiet and all the areas are closed. For most of us it's a great time to catch up with our sleep. Don't forget to look for those interlocking hanger kits. No way that I'll catch your live stream but I'll watch it after the fact.
I am booked in A736 on the Grand in January '23. It doesn't have the 3rd bed , otherwise I am guessing it is the same. Pity it didn't show the distance to the terrace pooll.
I agree with the other person that commented I could never sleep in another bed alone without my husband especially on a cruise I think if they knew that you were bringing three people they should've accommodated you will little bit better because you guys are family of three and also they wouldn't your shoes fit under the bed since they're small beds were like on the side of the better something
I ordered 3 of the books - map was always ripped out.. my first Alaskan cruise this weekend - inside cabin with a friend- thanks for tips . Hope the ear plugs work!
Very organized as always! ;0) I was excited to see the inside of an "inside cabin" that is basically what one of my sons will be sailing in this time. I was just very curious. He and his buddy will be just fine. Okay, I admit I'm still spoiled with my balcony. :0( I can't wait till YOU get to Alaska! I'm so excited! Happy Cruising!!! :0)
+Cheryl Reynaud +Cheryl Reynaud i'm spoiled with the balconies too. There were times and my husband walked in the room and headed for the balcony and there wasn't one. LOL we kept laughing about it. We definitely prefer a cabin in Alaska when it cost as much to upgrade as it going to take an entirely separate crews I just can't justify it. Although I do really hope we can afford a balcony next time. It was a little bit tough to be stuck inside during some of those beautiful days
While I don't know when you filmed this in comparison to posting it, but I do hope you ended up getting enough rest and relaxation or whatever allergies that might have been bothering you went away in short order. I could tell that you were struggling a bit to put the together the video, but glad you did. It was quite informative. And the biggest clue about you not feeling as good as you saying were those bags under your eyes.
+Bill S +Bill S thank you very much for the kind words. I didn't notice how much I was struggling until after I watch the video. You're right I think I was kind of short of breath and a little bit tired that day. I'm doing OK but can't seem to shake the cough and congestion - it's been hanging on for over a month. I thought it was allergies but the severity of the cough at times makes me think that it something else. We still had a great cruise and I got a lot of rest. I would've had a little bit more rest had a balcony cabin LOL
I do wish you a speedy recovery from what I hope is nothing more than a chest cold. Even so, perhaps contacting a local nurse hotline could help to see what you can do to get over it faster.
Hey Sherri, next year my husband and In-Laws and I are going on an 8 day Eastern Caribbean cruise on Carnival and will be having inside rooms. Watching your videos has helped tremendously. I have a quick question though. Would a hanging shoe organizer be helpful to bring? Ive been trying to find something magnetic but everything is over the door and I am not sure if that's allowed. Also, are you allowed to bring small portable fans (like the tabletop kind)?
Kristine Roman - Great questions! I sleep with a small fan on my nightstand every night of the year and travel with it too. No one else has ever brought up a fan for their room on the cruise vlogs I’ve watched.
What are your thoughts on booking an inside cabin for an Alaskan cruise? This will be our first time but there is such a huge price difference between the balcony and the inside. Balcony for 7 nights is $9000.00 and for an inside $3500.00.
I like your organization! I think i can do the same for my inside cabin on my upcoming Panama Canal. I am also an organizer. Can you recommend a Panama map like the Alaska map?
Hi Sheri. I took a trip down your cruise memory lane and watched the Vlog from your Carnival cruise last year. Which did you like better and why (destination, cruise line, etc.) ?
Well, it's tough to say because one was a sunny/warm cruise and the other was nature/beauty/grandeur. There were things I loved about both- like being able to afford a balcony on Carnival to mexico and the daily tea and pampering on Princess.
Hello Sheri . Enjoy your videos . We only cruise Princess now . And I always order the bottled water from princess for our cruise. I noticed you had caned mineral water in your room. So does Princess allow you to bring it on board. I'm asking because I like the flavored water. 😎
How many cruises does your family take per year, on average? Do you typically get an inside cabin or does it depend? Do you have a favorite cruise line overall?
Hey Sheri, I seemed to have miss were you said I could find the link to the book that had the really great Alaska cruise map. Could you possibly repost the link? Just started watching your vlog, but so far everything I’ve seen has been awesome, you have some really great helpful tips and ideas. I can’t wait to watch the rest of your vlogs. Keep up the great work.-Christy B
Thanks Christy! It’s in our shop and is called “The Alaska cruise handbook”- you’ll want to scroll down a bit, but you’ll see it :-) Www.amazon.com/shop/CruiseTipsTV
Alaska cruise just doesn't excite me; I prefer warm weather cruises but if I ever did an Alaska cruise I would get a Balcony or Oceanview can't do the inside on any cruise ship.
Hi Sheri: Thank you for the cabin organization video. We are traveling on a 4 day Carnival Cruise in December from L.A. to Catalina and Ensenada. My husband's daughter and her husband have never cruised before and the husband was fearing claustrophobia on the inside cabins so we booked adjoining rooms that had a door that can be left opened. After having been spoiled on my last cruise with a balcony for two weeks, I am hoping I am able to enjoy this cruise as much in an inside cabin. I have never had a stay in a "two adjoining cabin" set up and am wondering if you have any insight on this. Keep up the great work. Thank you, Martie
Do you have a map like that you recommend for the Bahamas? We are doing Norwegian escape out if Miami over thanksgiving to Nassau, st Thomas, and Tortola. Also any tips as far as those ports and must sees? We have a 8 and 7 year old in tow. :)
+scar I think your kids will be old enough to appreciate the baths on Virgin gorda. That is a short ferry ride from Tortola. I don't have a map like this for the Bahamas but you could always make one with the kids before you sail. Wishing you a wonderful trip. I hear Saint Thomas sustained some damage in the storm so I hope it's OK by the time you sail.
For the bathes should we book exclusion or just go do it as we get off the ship? And if st Thomas is available for Magan or coki which one and taxi or excursion? (With excursion you are only at beach 2 hours! In port over 7!)
+scar we did the ferry on our own two of the baths because our excursion was canceled due to our ship arriving late. However you can do it either way. With kids you may want to do something sponsored by the ship. As for Saint Thomas I might recommend you take the ferry over to St. John and go to one of the beautiful beaches there. That can also easily done children. Hoping Saint Thomas it's OK as well
This video helped a lot; I like to plan EVERYTHING. We are going on an Alaskan Cruise in May 2018. It will be my husband and I in an inside cabin. My parents are in a balcony cabin across the hall, so we can just step out on their balcony if we need to.
+Jayne Carey we've done insides before and our general rule is that If an inside cabin is if you hundred dollars less it is not worth it but if it's a few thousand dollars less it is definitely worth it
I think it would really bother me if I couldnt sleep with my husband. I know that sounds silly cause its only for a short period of time but still, :-(
Hi Sheri, great info, thanks! I have to disagree with what you said about not needing 2 curling irons....yes you do! My roomie had one and I had two and would you believe all 3 died one at a time and we were left with our impossible straight hair.! We both NEED to curl our hair and there was 2 wks left of our cruise. It was like an EMERGENCY! The ship shops didn't have any and the ports we went to didn't have any shops that carried them. Fortunately I had some small tools and my roomie was able to fix one of them so we survived. Of course we could have gone to the hair salon but the price would have been ridiculous for me needing to curl at least twice a day. Since then I always take 2 irons with me. Having said that i'm now thinking maybe they sell them in the ships salon?
Hey Sheri - great job with the cabin tour! I think that Princess has "shrunk" some of the cabins (I know on the Royal they put 5 mini-suites in the space that used to have 4, so they are more narrow & there isn't as much closet space). Maybe they did that to the inside cabins on your ship (when it was refurbished)?? One suggestion - I know you love your pop-up hamper, but I always put my dirty clothes right into my suitcase under the bed! I semi-fold them & place a flat black trash bag over the dirty clothes (which gets filled with the clothes when I pack to leave the ship). Definitely saves space - and gives more room in the closet! I am in hurricane prep mode today! Will probably miss your livestream on Saturday (Irma will be blowing right thru my city by Saturday)! I think I'm about as ready as I can be!! Plenty of food for Bubba & Princess (they'll be hiding under my bed), and I have my trusty first-aid kit (that you recommended for cruising) - hurricane impact windows & doors!! If the roof of my house doesn't blow off - I hope & pray that I will survive so I can plan to cruise again!
+bonnie bergstein we will be praying for you and the fur babies. Evacuate early if necessary!!! I don't want to worry about my Bonnie!!! . Do you expect that you may need to leave your home?
here's my tip for you with your dry erase board. hand sanitizer. I don't know if your wipes would work, but 99% of the time liquid hand sanitizer and a paper towel or rag will take off stubborn dry erase marks. (also invest in the better markers.)
I heard of a tip for an inside cabin. Since it's dark in the morning cause there's no window. Turn your TV to the channel with the bridge cam and mute before bed. When you wake up you'll have light from the TV screen.
Cindy Williams Me and my wife did that on our last cruise. .it works great. Waking up to the sunrise off the TV Cam
I love the fact its dark.. had getting light when im trying to sleep..
We tried that, but the TV was really bright. On the Caribbean, we put it on the ocean sounds channel :)
My tip is don’t bring too much stuff. I like packing everything in one carry on and a back pack or tote bag. Just watched this video and I love some of you ideas like bringing the magnetic hooks and the Alaska map.

Nice job keeping organized! I will be taking my own hand soap for my next cruise. The soap on board is so drying.
Hey, paperwork in the drawer is a good idea! We always end up with too much of it on our desk.
+thejokerspeaks totally! Out of sight! Sometimes that means I cram too much crap in there when I probably should just throw it away
We throw out all the ads that they give out for the spa and the stores. My nephew used the backside to draw on through out the cruise.

On royal Caribbean I believe they come off but I also had some hangers of my own I could to that with great tip!

+Jackie Weinkam I saw this cruise companions late in my cruise to! I wish I would've seen them earlier. Hope you can join our live stream on Saturday.
I have the dentist in the am but I hope to be back before 12pm. Good thing I don't have to talk when I watch your vlog. My mouth will be frozen.
Have you ever been on a submarine? You have miles of storage on cruise ships.....even the small closet ⚓️⚓️⚓️
Rachael Adler I'm praying for you and all your shipmate's safety.
Prayers for you and everyone out there dealing with these hurricanes 🙏🏼
Rachael Adler For what it's worth, I think that you're in one of the safer places to ride it out. Good luck.
+Rachael Adler of course I remember you! Please stay safe in Florida we will be thinking of you and praying for you!!!
I love your ideas for the magnetic hooks and hanging the itinerary in the room!
Thank you!
I am booked in A736 on the Grand in January '23. It doesn't have the 3rd bed , otherwise I am guessing it is the same. Pity it didn't show the distance to the terrace pooll.
Awesome advice. I had concerns about an interior room but not anymore. Yay
Awesome!
I use the suction cup hooks in the bathroom to hang wet things cause I don't like the line used by so many others
Where did you get the magnetic hooks by the door?
I'm addicted to your videos..so informative. 👍
I am totally addicted to your channel! Do you have a video or posting somewhere that provides a template of the activity planner you have on the wall?
+prtoylady I'll email it to you. Please shoot me an email at sheri@cruisetipstv.com
CruiseTipsTV thank you
I like your organization!
It’s in our shop and is called “The Alaska cruise handbook”- you’ll want to scroll down a bit, but you’ll see it :-)

I just came back today from the Alaska princess cruise
+XXPGamerPLAYZ how was it?
CruiseTipsTV yo it was great I loved it
I am used to a Balcony and Ocean View Rooms, will I enjoy Alaska with an inside cabin? Help Tell me the truth?
Alaska cruise just doesn't excite me; I prefer warm weather cruises but if I ever did an Alaska cruise I would get a Balcony or Oceanview can't do the inside on any cruise ship.
I love your dress do you mind if I ask where you got it?
Thanks for the great videos.
Where did you get the super strong magnets? Love your videos!!
+Michelle Maupin we can't live without these!
Super strong magnet hooks: amzn.to/2hO5FtF
Always love your videos
+Brian Yawn thank you very much.
Tips for anyone who might get claustrophobic in the inner cabins?
Where did you store your suitcase ?
Under the beds. It's a little cruise secret.
I'll answer on Tuesdays Vlog Martie! Good to hear from you!
"life time supply of sanitizing wipes".... lol.... ☮
+Kaitlyn Gregory that's awesome! Have a great family cruise!
Kaitlyn Gregory we are going on a cruise to Alaska this May also.
great ideas!
Is this the first time on a inside cabin? Is it worth saving the money?
If the roof of my house doesn't blow off - I hope & pray that I will survive so I can plan to cruise again!
bonnie bergstein stay safe! Prayers heading your way!
bonnie bergstein hang tight as we are all thinking of you. Prayers and love to you, Princess, and.Bubba
bonnie bergstein Sending you prayers Bonnie from California 🙏🏼
+bonnie bergstein we will be praying for you and the fur babies. Evacuate early if necessary!!! I don't want to worry about my Bonnie!!! . Do you expect that you may need to leave your home?
I'm not in an evacuation zone so I'll be sheltering in place! It's all in the Lord's Hands now! Keep the prayers coming!
Thanks for the room tour!
I know why you cruise the pacific instead of the Atlantic this time of the year 😂😂😂
+Lenny Miyasato Yep 🙁
#notificationsquad ⚓
Just got back from the bahamas
Could you use Command Hooks on the walls to hang lanyards etc?
Becky Hopper I was wondering that myself!
YES, I DO THAT RIGHT AT THE DOOR FOR OUR LANYARDS WITH SAIL N SIGN CARDS SO WE DON'T FORGET THEM LEAVING THE ROOM
you're beautiful and has a very pleasant personality. pleasure to watch thanks !
here's my tip for you with your dry erase board.
hand sanitizer. I don't know if your wipes would work, but 99% of the time liquid hand sanitizer and a paper towel or rag will take off stubborn dry erase marks. (also invest in the better markers.)
