Welcome to Seattle. We do this cruise on this ship or NCL Bliss once a year. Easy family vacation since port is only 20 minutes away. Balcony is almost a must on an Alaskan cruise. No matter how many times we've done it, views are always spectacular.
This is my dream trip, ive wanted to do a cruise to Alaska for so long! It will never happen for me so at least i can pretend im on my dream trip whilst i watch this! What an amazing trip.
Norwegian Encore was my favorite ship to cruise Alaska on! We’ve been 7 times on different ships and cruise lines each time. The Alaska excursions are some of the most memorable we’ve ever done!
Why did you like Encore so much? We are currently looking at itineraries on Encore, Bliss, and Celebrity Edge. Celebrity because we love the new Edge class ships and the time in ports is better than NCL. Thanks!
@@ashleys4652 for us it was the first time on such a large ship. We weren't overwhelmed by the size and it never seemed crowded. There was always a place to sit and chill or be active. Ship was clean, food was good. Staff was organized for port calls and it was easy to get on/off.
That's why I always book balcony cabins. To me it would be an absolutely no-go to cruise in an inside cabin. Thanks for your videos, cheers from Austria!
The wife and I did this cruise on NCL Bliss last (1st week of) May 2023. We were on the 12th deck in a balcony cabin--it's Alaska--you have too! Besides, my wife grew up in the 49th state, so I wanted to see some of it for myself. Could not have had better weather in Glacier Bay. Perfectly blue skies the entire 8 hrs there. We did see a lot of otters in the water, and the US Forestry service officer onboard narrating claimed to see mountain goats but I never did. All in all, if there is only cruse to take in a lifetime, this is it. A far cry from the Caribbean, but way better scenery. Nature's majesty.
We also “saw” mountain goats when we were there. They were tiny white dots on a slope also partly covered with snow. Impossible to see unless you had very powerful binoculars or a telescope!
The combination of you and Norwegian cruises just seems to be a match made in heaven! So cool to see you back on the same itinerary as your very first cruise too...if 11 year old Emma could see you now!
So glad you decided to take an Alaska cruise and are enjoying it. When I was in the army, we were stationed in Alaska (Fairbanks) for two years. To get up there we drove to Seattle and got on a ferry and rode up. The ferry being designed for basic transportation rather than comfort, the accommodations were pretty Spartan. Our cabin consisted of a bunkbed and a bathroom. However, the ship made several stops up the Alaska coast on the way to Haines, and we had the same beautiful views that you get in a cruise ship. It truly is a once in a lifetime experience.
My wife and I just got back from an Alaska trip on the Celebrity Edge. We booked the Edge based on your recommendation. You were right about the Edge, it was amazing. The cookies were behind glass and had to be requested. Probably a good thing for portion control.
Making me miss Alaska so bad. 😩 My husband and I took our first cruise for our honeymoon to Alaska, and we loved it so much we went back the next year just to roadtrip. I honestly think an Alaskan cruise is a perfect introduction to the state because it gives you a taste but the cruise takes care of everything else.
You would have quietly sailed right past me around 11pm on your first night. I live on a small island and we love watching the ships, all lit up in the distance :)
We did this exact cruise last fall with an inside cabin and I think it was fine. We just spent a lot of time in the observation lounge and other spaces with a view (which had the advantage that you could go to whichever side had the best view vs just seeing where your balcony was facing). On Glacier Bay day, we got up fairly early to make sure we got a spot in the observation lounge. I'm sure a balcony would've been nice to have of course, but it was by no means necessary to enjoy the cruise!
Great to see Emma in the USA . We love you. We cruised the Inside Passage of Alaska with Viking right after the pandemic. We are younger than most Viking Guests but the best part about Viking Ocean is everyone gets a balcony . Alaska was amazing. Glad you had a great time We will consider Norwegian next time. . Captain Hudson looks great with eagles .
Hi Emma..just read about your inside cabin on Cunard. You said you take your daylight alarm....I must get one! My hubby lectures on ships & when they put us in an inside cabin, we go to bed with the bridge camera on tv, volume down on the ships that have background music. Anyway, it's night vision so dark at night, light when the sun comes up. Works great...especially with the jet lag time warp thing 😊 I so enjoy your videos & tours...you're extremely good at this! Go Emma!
Just home from an Alaska cruise! like you we always do inside cabin but the Alaska cruise we did an balcony for the first time and don’t regret it at all the scenery was a amazing and glad we could enjoy from our room
Great to see you in a balcony cabin for this trip. I did actually cruise in an inside cabin for my Alaskan cruise, but loved running around the top decks soaking in the views, so didn’t really regret it. Encore looks such a beaut of a ship!
Hi Emma! Just wanted to say I found your channel a couple of months back and am really enjoying your content. I find your videos so engaging and entertaining. Each one is like a little virtual vacation. Keep up the great work!
In some of those layouts where they require you to put a card in to keep the light/AC/heat on, sometimes you can place any card in there and it also works (at least in hotels as some hotels are using this to help reduce costs of electricity when people are not in the room).
Yes, I’ve found this to be the case with most hotels that do this. Any card that will fit in the slot will work to keep the power on. I’ve also often found blank cards already in the slot when I check in.
I met a nice old lady in main dining room on Celebrity Edge two weeks ago, she said that she and her husband sail on cruise ship to Alaska every year in the last twenty years and never getting tired of this. I totally agree what she said since I'm also one of those been there. Encore looks pretty nice (nicer than Prima class in my point of view,) maybe it's the ship to go next time when I would like to see glacier bay. One more thing, Norwegian Spirit is chartered by a big travel agency here in Taiwan and sailing out of Keelung this summer. After that, she'll sail in east Asia until the end of 2025. A good chance to revisit her as Norwegian ships rarely sail here. 😄
I love seeing Captain Hudson in the same outfit as the one I just got. ❤ 6:54 I laughed when you said, "I was always able to do any work that I needed to do" -- while the camera showed a plate of cookies. 😊
yes i was hoping since i found your channel that you would be doing an Alaska cruise on the encore as i am schedule to go on one next year at the beginning of the season.
We recently got back from a 7 day Alaska cruise. We had an inside cabin and had no regrets. It was so rainy, windy, and cold, that I doubt we would have spent much time on the balcony anyway. And the balcony cabin was about double the price of the inside cabin. We spent SOME time outside on the top deck but we found that we really had to bundle up with layers to be able to do it for any length of time. We enjoyed much of the mountain viewing from inside the ship looking out a window. Most everyone else did the same. It's Alaska--you never know what you are going to get with the weather.
I hope you truly enjoyed your trip to AK! I've lived here for just over 3 years and it is the best place to live! The move to AK has been the best thing I've ever done!!
I always get a kick out of the shots of you gleefully enjoying yourself. Also, I love the cookies! But, I am very impressed with the amount of work you put into each video. Your editing is Herculean! Thanks!
Alaska was gorgeous. Rained a lot, but I saw whales, eagles, mountain goats, a seal stalking fish, and more salmon I would ever see in one place. It was the only cruise I was ever sick on though, and friends told me "The water is very calm."
So fun to see your video as I had just been on that ship to do the Panama Canal cruise. Three days later I did the Alaska Cruise on the Norwegian Sun. I loved both ships, but still prefer the smaller ship. I hope you were able to see “The Choir of Man” while aboard the Encore and the Beatles show as well. Phenomenal! We’re off on our next two back-to-back cruises in the Mediterranean in a couple of days - woo hoo for travel! Except for jet lag. Ugh. We live in Oregon and it’s a 9 hour time difference to Athens….
I took the Encore Alaska cruise in October with a balcony cabin. Those views brought back fond memories. Glacier Bay was gorgeous but so cold. I loved the balcony because we could go out for photos and a closer look, or sit inside and stay warm while viewing. We had the couch by the balcony which was better for us. Got my Captain Hudson recently and can't wait to sail with him next year.
I did this cruise a few weeks ago on the Norwegian Bliss which I believe is this ships twin. It was my first ever cruise and I had a solo studio cabin and it worked quite well for me. They had a live view screen next to the bed to give you a "window" to the outside. Not quite a balcony but for my budget was perfectly acceptable. There were plenty of spaces to sit and watch the fantastic Alaska scenery to pass by. Norwegian did a great job!
I sailed this same ship October 22-29, 2023 on the same itinerary. I however sailed in a solo room on Deck 12. Watching your video is like being with you on the cruise. I will be sailing this same cruise a 2nd time in late September this year again in a solo cabin.
I have been waiting for the Alaska videos! I live in Vancouver so growing up my friends were constantly going on Alaska cruises and I’ve always wondered what it’s like since I’ve never been on a cruise. So excited to see more videos about it
My grandparents had always cruised with Norwegian, so when my mom and I went on our first cruise we booked with Norwegian too. We got a complimentary upgrade to a balcony room and that was a BAD idea 😂We've only ever booked balcony since. We absolutely love Norwegian, and we took a family trip to Alaska in September of 2022. Absolutely loved it and would love to go back. Happy cruising!
The Encore is a great ship for cruising Alaska. I was in a balcony cabin on deck 15 in late 2021 and loved it. Plus you can never go wrong with the Mojito bar on deck 8
I am guessing, before watching, that you will be really happy with the balcony cabin. I ‘did’ Alaska in 1995 on the now retired Holland America Rotterdam. It was my first cruise. It was spectacular.
Loved our Norwegian cruise to alaska. Our sofa was closer to the balcony with a curtain between the beds and sofa you could pull across for privacy. It was handy in the morning I could 1:45 sit on sofa looking out while mom slept without it being too bright. Hope you see a bear 🐻!! You might even see a porcupine
Looks like a great ship. I was on Sapphire Princess one week after you departed Alaska. Norwegian Encore followed us from port to port during our sailing...saw her almost every day. Small world. 🙂
Potato. Great video, Emma. It didn't seem very cold on this cruise. I enjoyed your cabin review. You focused on the things I would like to know if I were taking a cruise. Alaska is a bucket-list destination.
Wow, we just got back from the same cruise on that ship. It would have been great to say hello to you, and to pick your brain on some of the many cruises you have tried. I think we were on the cruise the week before you sailed. We had some terrible experiences on shore excursions because it was cold and rainy for all the excursions. But I certainly enjoyed the ship and all the restaurants. We did discover that the light controls can be bypassed by any card, even just a plain cardboard card. The ship is equipped with the new Starlink satellite service and we enjoyed excellent Internet as well.
I was on this ship for a Western Caribbean cruise in February 2023. I was so happy to have a balcony cabin because there aren't a lot of outdoor places with lounge chairs since the ship is made for Alaska, and the lounge chairs were always "reserved" all day. They also pulled the lounge chairs up around 6pm since that was sunset time. I did love this ship and would love to sail on her again!
I’m definitely going on a cruise to Alaska. I just can’t decide which cruise line to book with. I like this Norwegian ship, but not much was mentioned about quality of the food. I also wonder if port side or starboard would have the best views or if that doesn’t matter at all. I’ll be taking some good binoculars and maybe a thermal for nighttime viewing of wildlife.
My wife and I were on the Encore in Alaska back in October!!!! Tip for glacier bay: when everyone goes to the bow to see the sights, go down by the life boats. There was no one down there and I was able to get amazing pictures! Also, potato!
Thank you, just working on the 3rd as we speak I hope to have it live on Thursday for everybody and maybe Tuesday for the early access channel members. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I'm going on my third Alaska cruise later this year, though this is the first time I'll be in a balcony. Each time has been different; the first was on Royal Caribbean from Seward to Vancouver, the second was on Princess round trip from Seattle, while this upcoming one is on Disney round trip from Vancouver.
Just got off an NCL Alaskan cruise today and they don't provide conditioner in the shower, it's shampoo and shower gel. I believe you CAN get conditioner in little tubes if you ask you cabin steward. I live in Oregon, so luckily I could DRIVE to Seattle and didn't have to fly. One of the few perks for living on the west coast of the USA when it comes to cruising.
I'm a cruise-a-holic and I absolutely love your videos I find them so interesting with plenty of tips my wife and myself prefer your videos to the ones on TV keep up the great work
Omg. Sailing from Seattle on the Celebrity Edge to Alaska in July. So looking forward to it. Emma I feel sofas should be in the front so if anyone comes by they can sit and don’t have to walk past your bed. The bed belongs in the rear as you said to lay and see the beautiful views out the window or balcony doors. 8hr distance? Think 3 or 4 hrs for us in NY. Like the make up room/do not disturb buttons. The glaciers are 😮gorgeous. Hope you share what excursions you did. Thanks 🤗
Just got back from Alaska this past Sunday. Spent a week in Fairbanks and Denali, then sailed onboard the Sapphire Princess from Whittier to Vancouver. Balcony cabin was worth every penny. I set up my camera tripod on the balcony so I could use a large telephoto lens and got some great wildlife and glacier calving shots that I never could have taken with a hand-held. Only negative about the trip is that there was an incredible aurora event the first weekend we were there, but since it never really got dark at night in Fairbanks we weren't able to see it. Had to tell the folks back home - who DID see the aurora - that we were too far north to see the northern lights.
Emma! Will you be stopping off in Homer? I live here and was just popping into your channel because I’m planning a cruise for next year and saw you were on your way up!
Excellent video, Emma. I agree that food and clothing choices on a cruise are the most difficult!😁👍🏽 I also also do the little trick of throwing my dirty clothes into my luggage. It makes it very easy to “pack up” and disembark.😉
I just returned yesterday from a trip to Alaska on RC's Quantum of the Seas. Don't know if you guys got rerouted to Icy Straight Point because Skagway had a rock slide, but if you did, I hope you did the zip line. I'm terrified of heights, but I forced myself to do it and it was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. Also, the Crab House at that port had fabulous food and the most amazing Bloody Mary. I had an unscheduled bear encounter on one of my excursions. Momma bear and two cubs. Alaska was amazing and beautiful. Hope you had (or are having) a great cruise.
The "do not disturb" button is a great feature. The dangling tags are such a nuisance. P.S. I see Captain Hudson has a couple of stuffed eagles to keep him company.
I am going on a cruise to Alaska week after next on HAL. My roommate upgraded us from oceanview to balcony (apparently, HAL made an offer she couldn’t refuse), so I am super excited to go. It looks amazing! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos… BTW, Capt. Hudson will be coming with us. Got a version 4 a week or so ago, so he’s definitely coming with! 💜
Seattle is my closest port, and I've actually been thinking about that perfect "first cruise" to take the family on, I think you might have shown me the one I'll wanna go on. Thanks Emma!
My brother here in Seattle took his wife and young kids on an Alaskan cruise years ago. They loved it. The kids were busy with the youth clubs, the adults got to do what they wanted, and food was provided for.
Going in August on Royal Caribbeanon, company paid, so dont know which cabin class we will get. Went in 2005, cant remember which line, but we paid premium to get a cabin with large balcony. Well worth it.

It is amazzzing. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼

Ooo that sounds lovely! I have one similar on a future cruise. So glad you had a great time. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I sailed this same ship October 22-29, 2023 on the same itinerary. I however sailed in a solo room on Deck 12. Watching your video is like being with you on the cruise. I will be sailing this same cruise a 2nd time in late September this year again in a solo cabin.
Ooooo!!! Hope you enjoyed it as much as me. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I have been waiting for the Alaska videos! I live in Vancouver so growing up my friends were constantly going on Alaska cruises and I’ve always wondered what it’s like since I’ve never been on a cruise. So excited to see more videos about it
Thanks so much, 2 more coming next week and one the week after!!❤❤❤
My grandparents had always cruised with Norwegian, so when my mom and I went on our first cruise we booked with Norwegian too. We got a complimentary upgrade to a balcony room and that was a BAD idea 😂We've only ever booked balcony since. We absolutely love Norwegian, and we took a family trip to Alaska in September of 2022. Absolutely loved it and would love to go back. Happy cruising!
Ha ha, that’s what they hope!! 😂😂😂😂
The Encore is a great ship for cruising Alaska. I was in a balcony cabin on deck 15 in late 2021 and loved it. Plus you can never go wrong with the Mojito bar on deck 8
So so true!! 3 more videos are coming about this trip and that is something I mention a lot, ha ha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I am guessing, before watching, that you will be really happy with the balcony cabin. I ‘did’ Alaska in 1995 on the now retired Holland America Rotterdam. It was my first cruise. It was spectacular.
You got it! Haha 🎉❤
we took our first cruise to alaska last summer it was wonderful, holland america was a fine line iwe will do it again !
🥰🥰🥰
Loved our Norwegian cruise to alaska. Our sofa was closer to the balcony with a curtain between the beds and sofa you could pull across for privacy. It was handy in the morning I could 1:45 sit on sofa looking out while mom slept without it being too bright. Hope you see a bear 🐻!! You might even see a porcupine
Ooo!! Wow ahah. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I was just coming to say I wish your reviews so much longer. I watch other cruise reviews that top 50 minutes and Im glued in
Awwhh haha, don't worry this is video 1 of 4 from this trip! 2 more next week. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Looks like a great ship. I was on Sapphire Princess one week after you departed Alaska. Norwegian Encore followed us from port to port during our sailing...saw her almost every day. Small world. 🙂
Oooo!! Lovely. Hope you enjoyed 😀❤️
Potato. Great video, Emma. It didn't seem very cold on this cruise. I enjoyed your cabin review. You focused on the things I would like to know if I were taking a cruise. Alaska is a bucket-list destination.
Thanks so much! 3 more videos to come from this trip!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Oh no shame you had bad weather, we were sooo lucky. Hope you enjoyed it otherwise 😎❤️ Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
❤️❤️❤️
It just looks so amazing !! 🤩 I would so love to visit Alaska sometime! Looking forward to your next few videos. The cabins look lovely too . ❤
Thanks so much Julie! :)
Balcony...Alaska...YES! Another great video.
Thank you! 😁❤️ 3 more to come from this trip!
Hello Emma. Nice video. Thanks for your channel!❤❤❤
Thanks so much. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
You are welcome. I’m your avid fan here in the Philippines!🇵🇭
Looks like a great cruise Emma and you are really enjoying it.
Thank you! 😁❤️
Can't stop watching this video, it's just sooo good!
Awwwh Thank you! 😁❤️
My wife and I were on the Encore in Alaska back in October!!!!
Tip for glacier bay: when everyone goes to the bow to see the sights, go down by the life boats. There was no one down there and I was able to get amazing pictures!
Also, potato!
So true!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I'm going to Alaska next year, so looking forward to it. A bucket list trip ✨️
Have a great time! 🥳🥳
Each time I see a new video I am happy😊
Awhhhhh Thank you! 😁❤️
Looking forward to the NCL Sun in a couple weeks,I love the smaller ships the cruise lines have.
I loved Sun!! ❤❤
I love a balcony but it would be even better in Alaska!! One day I will get there. Can't wait for the next videos.
Oooo!!!! Have a great time! 🥳🥳
Huge fan! You are a wonderful ambassador for @NCLFreestyle!
.
Awwwh Thank you! 😁❤️
Aha, I bought my own. That sounds good! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
This gets me excited for our cruise on NCL Bliss in October...our first cruise to Alaska
Yesss!!!!! I’m envious yours is in the future haha. Have a great time! 🥳🥳
love you Emma, this was so informative
Thanks so much, love you too! :)
Just had my Alaska cruise two weeks ago on Princess Majestic and cannot say enough about it!!
So glad to hear that. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I'm totally binging all your stuff ;) I never cruised myself, but you have interesting content and pleasant voice
Thank you! 😁❤️
I'm a cruise-a-holic and I absolutely love your videos I find them so interesting with plenty of tips my wife and myself prefer your videos to the ones on TV keep up the great work
Thanks so much you’re very kind! ❤❤❤
I loved that you put Captain Hudson in the safe. You need to protect valuable things.
Of course! 😂😂😂
Thanks 🤗
Ooo have the best time ever. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼 Yep I've made a whole video about the excursions which will be out next week.
@@EmmaCruises thanks much. Looking forward to it 🤗
My sister and I went to Alaska last June and wished we had taken shorts. Lol. We loved our balcony! Alaska is beautiful
Ha ha! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Ha ha, so close but so far!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Emma! Will you be stopping off in Homer? I live here and was just popping into your channel because I’m planning a cruise for next year and saw you were on your way up!
Hellloooo, no plans to. I'm back home now! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Amazing views from your cabin Emma!
Like having those cool screensavers in real life.
Enjoy your cruise 🍪
Yes!! Ha ha. Thank you! 😁❤️
Excellent video, Emma. I agree that food and clothing choices on a cruise are the most difficult!😁👍🏽
I also also do the little trick of throwing my dirty clothes into my luggage. It makes it very easy to “pack up” and disembark.😉
Yesss!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
We cruised Alaska on the Bliss and Encore had the balcony cabin both times really enjoyed it and would cruise Alaska again on NCL.
Love it! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Nice to see the Encore. We have a trip booked next year on the Encore. We have an oceanview cabin, not a balcony.
Amazing, I love ocean views!! Have a great time! 🥳🥳
The scheduled bears are usually on strike anyway. 🤣
Ha ha, no zip line for me but glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Where did you get the bald eagles keeping Captain Hudson company? 8:38
On the tour I did in Ketchikan :D
An excellent review Emma, very impressed with Norwegian
Thanks for watching! :)
Looks amazing. Putting this on my bucket list.
Do it 😀❤️
The "do not disturb" button is a great feature. The dangling tags are such a nuisance.
P.S. I see Captain Hudson has a couple of stuffed eagles to keep him company.
He does!! 😂❤
I am going on a cruise to Alaska week after next on HAL. My roommate upgraded us from oceanview to balcony (apparently, HAL made an offer she couldn’t refuse), so I am super excited to go. It looks amazing! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos…
BTW, Capt. Hudson will be coming with us. Got a version 4 a week or so ago, so he’s definitely coming with! 💜
Oooo that’ll be INCREDIBLE!!! Have a great time! 🥳🥳
Norwegian is my cruise line, I’m so happy to see them in one of your videos
3 more coming from this cruise! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Seattle is my closest port, and I've actually been thinking about that perfect "first cruise" to take the family on, I think you might have shown me the one I'll wanna go on. Thanks Emma!
Ooo!! Definitely use your closest port that makes it so much easier. ❤🎉
If you don’t already have a great agent: emmacruises.com/book-a-cruise/ ❤️❤️
This would be a perfect cruise. The only downside to Alaska, IMO, is excursions can be very expensive.
Oooo exciting!!! Have a great time! 🥳🥳
@@EmmaCruises Thank you! I have been watching your videos to reacquaint myself with cruising. 😀
