Staying in The Smallest Cabins on Cruise Ships
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 фев 2025
- These are the smallest inside cabins found on cruise ships. From the cheapest to the most expensive I am going to stay in them all.
Starting with an inside cabin from one of the biggest cruise lines in the world, Carnival cruise line.
I’d read a lot of bad reviews about the inside cabins on the Carnival Magic but when I saw a cruise for just $76 per night I knew that I had to give it a go. To keep it as cheap as possible I didn’t pick the location of my room and that meant I could be given a cabin anywhere on the ship, probably one of the cabins that nobody else picked in a ‘bad’ location. I was given cabin 7432 right at the back of deck 7 above a nightclub and piano bar. I hoped that that wouldn’t cause me any problems as the cruise went on as cruise ship cabins aren’t exactly known for being soundproof, you can hear everything.

Walking into the room I was instantly struck by how funky it looked, I think funky is the right word, there was a lot of orange wood around, the floor was bright and even the bed had a skirt. The desk reminded me of spaghetti hoops and I have no idea what the art was on the walls but it was on both sides, the same painting twice. They clearly thought this was a good painting so they ordered thousands and thousands and thousands of copies of it.

1. Velma 2. Hermione 3. Avril Lavigne
Where is this? I've never seen a Carnival cruise ship that wasn't 95% black patrons, lol!
That's a bird of paradise flower, yeah?
Apparently so! I can't see it!! ha ha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
AKA Strelitzia or Crane Flower.
Yeah. We have one in the garden. It rarely flowers mind you.
yeah, that is a flower
Yep we have a HUGE Bird of Paradise in our yard (seriously like 20' (7M) tall. Flowers look just like that.
I have experienced the Vortex sound occasionally on some NCL cruises. The maintenance staff was baffled by the source after attempting to affect the noise. It was challenging to sleep when the air system was active. I was able to determine the source of the problem. The adjustable air vent inside the shower was turned too tightly so the opening was almost fully closed. This resulted in air rushing through a small opening and making sounds like an airplane taking off. I was able to turn the cover a bit and the noise was eliminated. Keep this in mind for your next adventure on the seas!
YES!! Airplane taking off, that's exactly it!!!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
That painting is a bird of paradise. It's the official flower of the city of Los Angeles. They are everywhere in Southern California. I cruised on the Carnival Magic in 2017 with extended family and friends. It was fun!
I kinda see it!! ha ha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
@@EmmaCruises Strelitzia reginae from South Africa.
The bit about imagining the window behind the curtain had me cracking up. Your Velma costume was awesome.
Ha ha, it might work!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
@@EmmaCruises All these where without food/drinks?
I am impressed with how well emma organizes her records and her footage to be able to make a video like this.
Thank you! 😁❤️
We have only ever cruised with RC, and since the year 2000. We do 2 per year and the worst room we’ve ever had was a porthole room our first cruise on the Monarch. Since then our accommodations and excursions have been wonderful, only hampered occasionally by weather. Never had the desire to try Carnival, but Princess is on our bucket list.
The Painting is a painting of the tropical flowering plant known as A Bird of Paradise, the plants natural location is South Eastern Africa, but also does very well in Southern Australia.
Love watching these. We usually sail interior cabins and my favorite so far is an Edge class Celebrity ship Deluxe Interior. Large cabin and bathroom. Usually we will split the bed into twins if the orientation is bed at the end of the room - having that aisle between beds made it much easier to maneuver. Next cruise is 14 days in Alaska in an interior on the Celebrity Summit - another adventure awaits.
Thanks lots and lots!! Totally agree feels more spacious. That sounds AMAZING!!! Have a great time! 🥳🥳
My wife and I were blessed to book 2 Carnival Cruises (one 7 night & one 10 night ) with inside cabins comped (haven't cruised in 15 years) and since they are older ships, the size of the interior cabins are bigger then the regular staterooms of the newer ships. With taxes, port fees, insurance, pre paid tips, came to right around $2K for everything.
Most useful comment was about the electrical plugs. Regardless of cruise line or location or cabin type it is defo necessary to bring a variety of plugs. We have found German type plugs hidden behind beds for example. I carry specific plug adapters for specific regions, ie OZ/NZ adapters for our cruise last month LA to Sydney and NZ. These are cheap and simple to carry but it can be infuriating if you forget them.
The art in the carnival room is a bird of paradise flower 😊
Pretty!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
You're being very generous with the term "art". 😄
Oh, that Azamara cabin is faaaaaancy. I do love those internal corridors - they’ve got them on NCL, and the cabins down there are SO much quieter than being on the main corridor.
I’ve never seen an ‘included’ minibar on a ship - talk about life goals…!
You better believe I made the most out if it 😂
I really like the fact the you take the time to respond to many comments many youtubers don't do that
Great vid
I try my best, Thank you! 😁❤️
Painting is the Bird of Paradise flower. Grows in tropical areas.
Pretty!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I love your videos! Im absolutely fascinated by cruises, but i know they aren't for me for a multitude of reasons. With your videos, i get all the fun with none of the drawbacks!
I get so envious of Emma (@EmmaCruises).
Thanks so much. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I was just telling my son that! But Emma's definitely more flexible than I am and the bathroom is the most important room for me when I go to hotels, that's how I judge them hahahaha. I'd never survive a cruise although I wish I would have tried when I was much younger.
A few weeks ago I went on my first cruise, it was on the "Allure of the Seas" to the Bahamas and Coco Cay. This channel is part of the reason I decided to go. I really enjoyed it, and those ships are amazing. So... next June I'm going to be making my way across the country to Seattle and will be sailing to Alaska on the Anthem of the Seas!
Ooooooo. Sounds good! I loved Anthem! 😁🥳
I have watched many of your reviews of cruises around the world and enjoy your positive personally. Keep up your travels and thanks for keeping us informed on new and interesting facts about the cruise lines. Fred C.
Thanks so much for watching and your kind words! I appreciate it 😀❤️

Well, yeah. Just in case!👹
This is fancy dress…..and this is a fancy dress had me in stitches 😂
she looked good in that fancy dress, not the fancy dress, but the fancy dress, i mean
Haha. Thank you! 😁❤️
I think fancy dress A is Velma from Scooby Do! Not sure about the next two... 7:30
@@jonathantsou9255 Redhead in the middle is Ginny Weasley I believe.
...it's different 😂
A lot of people complain about sounds, but a small white noise machine takes care of that, and you get some great sleep. We love using our when we travel.
I hate almost all forms of background noise (I can just about deal with rains noises). I’m autistic so that might be why is so noise sensitive.
You can just use an app on your phone, too.
Also, earplugs are a must. However, you don't want to use earplugs all night long... they've been linked to tinnitus. 😫
Nice video 😀 btw, the art on the wall looked like a painting of a “bird of paradise” Strelitzia flower 🌺
Pretty!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Retired Coast Guard Marine Inspector here: those SOLAS whistles on lifejackets are *never* cleaned!😂
Ha ha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Which is why I always had a crew member test it. (Still another retired USCG Marine Inspector.)
Looks like we have several MIO folks. USCG 73-83
On the flip side, if you ever go in the water with them salt water does a fairly good job sterilizing them.
@@kettch777 ha! I’m sure the cleanliness of the whistle is the last thing you’ll be worried about in the water.
"Fancy dress" is costume in American English. I recognized your Thelma (from Scooby Doo) fancy dress from previous videos. The painting in your first cabin is of a Bird of Paradise flower. It's tropical but does grow in Florida.
??? I’ve lived on both coasts and I’m from the Midwest. In the US, I’ve only ever heard “fancy dress” to mean formal.
0:59. The picture appears to be a Bird of Paradise. There is one growing (badly) in my yard.
Love it!! 🥰❤️
I have no plans to cruise but watch every one of your videos 😅 Your voice is relaxing
Thanks so much 🥹❤️
@emmaCruises.... I am so envious of Emma.
I'd like to see you check out the Norwegian Cruise Line solo Studio cabins.
Me too!! ha ha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
The bathroom on the Azamara ship looks *exactly* like the bathroom in the cheap cabins on some of the overnight ferries in Scandinavia. I like to joke that you could, ahh, relieve yourself, shower, and brush your teeth, all at the same time.
I am so excited for HUDSON V4 AND I AM PLANING TO MAKE THEM A LITTLE CRUISE SHIP
Awwwwh I love this!!! Make sure you email me a picture. I will be including your name in the back of the Captain Hudson book in the thank you section, for all your inspiration!! Thanks for watching. 😀👏🏼
I’m seriously rewatching your old videos bc I realized that I missed your face and your voice! I went to your page to see when the last time you posted bc I was gonna ask where you were and realized it was only 5 days ago! I definitely LOVE you and your channel! I play your videos on my headphones as I’m home with my two under two all day lol. You rank with Ben and David and shiplife for me. And I also love the British-isms 😂
I stayed in an inside cabin on P&O Arcadia last year and was pleasantly surprised by the space! It had a similar dressing/storage area as at 9:14 and the bathroom was very similar to 1:36 - though with heftier toilet paper! I've definitely stayed in smaller hotel rooms so it was a great wee cabin as far as I was concerned.
Sounds good! 😁🥳
You are very brave! Your outcome is exactly why it would never occur to me to let the cruise line pick my cabin room. I’m a light sleeper and lie on a white noise machine to block out incidental noises.
You just sold an inside cabin on the QM2 to me. I’ve been begging my parents to take me on a transatlantic trip. New begging point! Thank you!
Woohoo! It was lovely. Have a great time! 🥳🥳
Congratulations - you not only managed to enjoy your cruise in this tiny cabin but to present it on video as if it was an open space palast. You really do have a talent for "spotting details" but do not get carried away with being too picky. After all, like with everything in life - you get what you pay for. Hopefully - at least.
My first 2 cruises were inside rooms, the next two were ocean view, and since then it’s been balcony only. I love having a balcony room and we always pick the middle section. We are budget conscious in other areas, during our cruise.😊
Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
The subtle references to cabin locations and resulting noise were good. And I really loved the idea of having a game of "identify the song" :)
It was so tricky actually!! Thank you! 😁❤️
Question: have you ever cruised solo, and could you do a review of what it's like to cruise in a solo cabin, and do you have any advice?
*I learned something from your video; cruise ship cabins are apparently plug-in play/modular. I am interesting! Thank you kindly, I learned something today.*
These are excellent videos you make for us! Thanks for the FYIs
Okay, I'll subscribe already
😂
Thank you! 😁❤️
This video is great.
I was wondering if it was worth the balcony or not.
Thank you. You are a doll.
Thank you! 😁❤️
We always choose the inside cabin in order to take more cruises and have $$ for excursions. But I carefully select a mid-ship location now that I know better. And not near any noise. We’ve been perfectly happy in a cocoon type area. No sunlight to wake us up early! Very quiet and private.
Sounds good to me! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Hurtigruten Vesteralen Coastal Express in Norway is a specatular cruise if you like scenery. The inside room for 2 (bunk beds) was half the size, at best, of the smallest room in Emma's experience. I have never cruised before - but I have wandered out of the US for a decade - and the fjords of Norway are just my style.
We've been team inside cabin for years, but got a surprise upgrade to an outside cabin on our last cruise and I have to admit I loved it (we've occasionally done balcony cabins but can't always justify the cost). I had thought having a window wouldn't make a difference but it actually did and we've gone for an outside cabin on our next cruise.
Bird of Paradise is my favorite flower ❤

Noise sounds like a old kettle 😀
It does!! Ha ha. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Wow the sass levels are 💯 on this video 😂 I love it! 🖤
Haha. Thank you! 😁❤️
Love your posts Emma. Excellent 🙂🏴
Hard to think of 2000 tellies as being “old-fashioned” - until I turned ten, our only tellies were black and white, so a colour telly was the equivalent in those days of a teleportation device - so, here in 2024, referring to a 2000 telly as the equivalent of a gramophone probably seems rather odd to a 60-year old geezer like me!
Ha ha, I was 5 in year 2000 so seems pretty old fashion to me! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
2015 tvs are old to me
We have gotten so ridiculously extravagant since 2015 that even normal things now seem outdated. Look at cars: Now basic, entry-level models all have keyless entry, power windows, A/C, heated seats, automatic transmission, cruise control; all the bells and whistles luxury cars featured a decade or two ago.
Great Vlog Emma. So interesting to see the inside smallest cabins. Oh wow the Azamara cabin sound you had was really annoying. Ambassador certainly looked tired and dated
Bit weird they didn't refresh it isn't it?! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
That last cabin segue with the pizza was fantastically written and executed.
🎉
Ha ha, Thank you! 😁❤️
I'm actually doing an inside cabin on my next cruise, an NCL Alaska cruise. The price up to a balcony was hard to justify and they had some studio cabins available. I'm eager to try it for the lounge space/snacks.
Ooo yes!! That'll be so good. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
That noise is perfectly normal, your room was just preparing for take off :) 🤔✈🤣
Emma scrolling through her pictures and footage : I should do a video about these staterooms !
Then she realize that these cruises were months ago : OOPS.
That doesn’t matter. This video is great, and we love (I do, at least) the fact that you upload new amazing content, continue the great work.
Thank you lots!!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Great video. I always book the cheapest cabin and it is usually the inside cabin. The flower paintings are 'Birds of Paradise.' Anyone with tinnitus will recognize the a/c sound. Costumes a) Velma Dinkley; b) Ginny Weasley, or Lily Potter, or Hermione Granger (depending on your level of haircolour blindness🙂); c)Avril Lavigne. Video and trivia, great!
Yesss!!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
The two paintings are birds of paradise.
Pretty!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I've been on rhe Magic 3 times and stayed in an inside cabin and it was great. I never payed attention to the colors because I didn't spend much time there. It was clean, comfortable and lots of closet space. I'd definitely do it again.
Hope you actually been in a spaceship? I'm so jealous 😉
I would've been so disappointed that the TV was not, in fact, a 2000 boxy box TV set lol
This is fancy dress and this is a fancy dress... love it 🤣😝
Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I know, you do it for your content and it is brave of you to do so. Those cabins are like jail cells. That would drive me crazy being in one of those.
Yes the Azamara bathrooms ,even the outside cabins have small bathrooms. And small showers which can be handled quite well. It all depends on how you deal with the shower curtain. Magnets are the secret.
Painting is of tropical flower called Bird of Paradise. I actually would have felt very at home in that room, although hearing the music would have been an issue for sleeping.
I kind of see it, kinda! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I find it amusing that I absolutely read your reply in your voice!
Well... I typed it in my voice so it must be in there somewhere, how funny! :)@@cherilangguth2151
@EmmaCruise ....My first cruise was in a cabin ("upgraded" for my Honeymoon) to be right below a dance floor. Dam, it was in the Disco era.
*Jet 2 advert plays just before the annoying noise clip*
Yup, that's annoying noise.
Those paintings are birds of paradise flowers
Nice thumbnail 😁😁My bathroom, toilet, sink, and tub were that green color when I moved in... do you ...errr do your parents remember in the 70s-80s...TP matched bathroom colors 😲 🙃
Haha, love that. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
In Europe those ‘bird of paradise’ flowers are called ‘Gladioli’ . A type of orchid .. My gran used to like them a lot .. they’re not only striking and colourful, but quite big too .. no more botany from me !! 😂😂..
Haha, love it! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I loved the phrase when fancy dress isn't a fancy dress :) It is the same down here in NZ as well.
Thank you! 😁❤️
The last ship I worked on the TP was actually thinner. So thin is had as many holes than solid parts. More of a net made of paper. Good old US Navy issue.
Eeek!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
I sailed on the ambience back in 2017. Though back then, it was called the Pacific Dawn. The carpet looks identical
. the dbl painting is so classicly strange conversation . 😂❤
My husband and I did inside staterooms on 3 of our 10 cruises. I used a scooter for those, and we ended up in VERY nice rooms. The first was on MSC Divina and we got a double width room with ample room for me to park my scooter. I later ended up in an inside stateroom on Carnival with my son and husband and my scooter blocked the entrance to the room and once we had the beds set up, it was like a teen and three adults sleeping in a slightly larger king bed.
Most of the inside staterooms you were in would be perfectly fine for me and my husband, but we've decided we like having somewhere in the room to sit, so future cruises will always be in balcony staterooms.
Sounds good! 😁🥳 Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
That painting on the wall is a flower which is very common in my country!
I made the ship for royal Caribbean and I will get the other ship soon. Did you see that the Francis Scott bridge fell and did you see the Second Carnival Freedom fire in 2 years ( I went on the Carnival freedom in November of 2022
5:16 After 26 years in the submarine service. My idea of small may differ from others.
Also, as others have said, get a small white noise machine.
Further fun fact; the submarine's ventilation system muffles noise in a similar manner. So much so that if the ventilation stops, we wake up, because something is about to happen.
😅👍 Had a similar thought shipmate. Not that I'm a bubblehead... 😏😉
Bird of Paradise is what those paintings were of, aaaaaand, you delightfully pulled off Velma, Hermione(I think, as she had bangs, otherwise it's Ginny) and Avril Lavigne!!
I can imagine that to the millions of WWII vets, transported by ship all around the world, these cabins would have seemed absolutely palatial. Sorry just a random thought, nothing against you or your videos, in fact yours is the only cruising content I follow, because of the truthfulness and high quality cinematography.
I'm sure! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Well done Hermiome!
Hi Emma, love your videos. Can you share the website you use to see the layout and spacing from overhead of the cabin class you booked?
They’re the deck plans, each cruise lines website has them ❤❤
@EmmaCruises I've seen the deck plans before to locate where our room is in relation to what's above and below, but I never knew I could actually see the inside the room itself that way. Please give Hudson extra love from us and all his fans
@@chocolateandbooks Ohh that’s just me looking at the other deck plans, some cruise lines have the diagrams too some not. Will do!! ☺️🥰
I don't go on cruises to spend any time in my room.
I go for the food, top deck views and quiet reading time tucked away on a view deck.
But at 63, I still enjoy camping on my motorcycle with my wife.
So, we are good with a small tent ... it's about the journey.
I have been on a few cruises and must say I would rather spend the money on trips and booze than a larger cabin. As long as the bed is comfy and there isn’t too much noise I am happy. Also I don’t bother with windows too much. I like the absolute dark when you shut your door.
As someone who spent years with a bunk under the 3 wire on a carrier, being under a bar sounds like a great night's sleep!
Love your videos. The paintings represent a tropical flower called Strelitzia or Paradise Flower.
Love it! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Great video and information, was wondering if you had a time limit on making the video.
A little slower on speed would have been appreciated. Sounded like you had to meet a time limit!!
Norwegian has solo cabins with the phones mounted on the wall. Seeing that made me wonder, with table/desk/counter space so lacking in most cruise ship cabins, why aren’t all the phones wall mounted?
Great comparison of different inside cabins. Oh, and great commentary, even some funny bits.
Thank you! 😁❤️
How long did it take you to film all of these cruises to put this video together? That's dedication!
About two years! 😂🎉
I’m going on my first cruise this year and I’ve got a balcony cabin but as a solo travel I know it going to be hard to justify them if I get hooked. So it really nice to see the various options
It would be great if you could update on here once you've been 🙂.
I've never booked because of the solo prices. I'd really like to know about your experience.
That Azamara cabin sound was like a plane taking off!
It does!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
That IS definitely a Bird of Paradise Flower (Strelitzia reginae). It is actually a beautiful flower, and seen in many ports. I think it is the official flower of Los Angeles, CA US. It symbolizes joyfulness, paradise, freedom, anticipation, and excitement. Basically it symbolizes a cruise. Of course they grow poorly in the UK, as they need lots of sunlight. :)
Cute Velma and Jenny Wezly costumes! All depends on what you are willing to swap out for budget but I'm okay with a smaller space if you aren't actually going to be in there all that much. And some things are unforeseeable like the broken AC, but it looks like you guys were at least able to get some type of assistance.
Yesss. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Never been on a cruise but the inside cabin thing is a no go. I need natural light or my body gets really messed up. And a working AC is an absolute must. I like it really cold.
Those paintings are of a plant called Birds of Paradise. I first saw this plant in Los Angeles, California and thought it only grew there. Years later I bought my home in Florida and found a garden filled with this beautiful plant and have them to this day. They grow about three feet tall in large clusters and put out the amazing flowers all year long if given regular sun and water.
Love that!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Taking another Carnival cruise in a few weeks. Our second. Looking forward to the hamburgers! Had an MSC cruise last year, our first, and was very disappointed in so much. Not an MSC fan but Carnival, older ship and all, is far more favored by my wife and I. @@EmmaCruises
That Azamara cabin looks nice!
It was lovely! Such a tiny bathroom though, it's a shame. Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
@@EmmaCruisesI cruised around Iceland on Azamara Journey last summer. I did have a balcony cabin (and I was travelling solo). I was worried about the tiny shower, having seen your video. However, I didn’t find it to be a problem, even though I’m bigger. I loved the ship and having free room service (and not a morning person), I had breakfast every morning in my cabin. I even had it on the balcony in Reykjavík!
Hello Thelma.
you pull that look off well.
Thank you! 😁❤️
Took me a second, those are called Spaghetti-Os in America. 😂
That's it! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
Uh oh - spaghetti-os
spaghetti-os are a brand. look at any generic one and they indeed say spaghetti rings. i bet you say kleenex too, instead of tissue...
@@pauleasley6488 Nope never ever done that. 😅
The painting was a flower called Bird of paradise. It's usually found in tropical places like Hawaii.
The painting is of a bird of paradise flower!
I can see where people are coming from saying the painting is a birds of paradise flower but my first thought seeing it was that it looked like a submarine on fire which I felt like was an odd vibe for a cruise ship 😅😅
Emma, the flowers are Strelitzias named after British Queen Charlotte (wife of George lll), natives of South Africa; I have both the orange and yellow forms growing extensively in my Sydney garden.
Love that! Hopefully I can see them in Sydney one day!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
@@EmmaCruises In 4 years, never missed a vlog, except your live streams. Shocked when I opened this one, I thought you had sneaked in another charity hair cut!!!!
My daughter has that same alarm clock. Neat.
My last two cruises were one from Fremantle to Sydney in December and in January I did around Cape Horn in South America and down to the Antarctic Peninsula. Both cruises I had a balcony cabin but when underway it was too cold to sit on the balcony. When we were in the South Atlantic sailing up the coast of Argentina I did manage to sit on my balcony by wedging myself next to the adjoining partition and getting some shelter from the wind
Haha, so true!! Thanks for watching 😀👏🏼
