Finally joined the Sony family yesterday with the ZV-E10 ii (and the Sigma 16mm 1.4). Thanks for your help in deciding on this camera. Im so stoked to get started, and just realized you have the course for it as well.
I'm planning on getting this for my husband, who's been getting into videography in motocross. I also want something for stills. Is this good for both?
I second that. I've watched a lot of channels and I like that you bridge in-depth pro knowledge with recommendations for people like me that shoot small-time RUclips content that are looking for the next step. I watched you Osmo Pocket 3 video and I between ZV-E10 II and P3.
I have the ZV-E10 since 2022 and you were some of the reasons I bought it. I still love it and I don't think the Mark II brings enough with her to switch. In fact I recommend to buy a Mark I for the most of your viewers now as it will get cheaper soon. It is worth its money and has a bit more to offer for average users.
@@thefilmalliance Well yes. But I almost never do walking-shots. And with an OSS-lense it gets much better. So... It is a really good choice for my ways of use. Thanks for recommending it then.
Those are the best 26 minutes i have spent on the internet. What an absolute in-depth review. I am planning to get this soon with the kit lens. But, will it be good for indoor grenn screen shoots?
Beginner question: Does Eye AF work with lenses that are not Sony? Is Eye AF just as good and precise with lenses from Sirui, Tamron, etc.? Is there anything specific to look for when purchasing a lens to ensure it is 100% compatible with Sony's Eye AF?
yes, eye af will work with third-party lenses, I believe. I would look at the reviews in Amazon and search up that terminology in the question portion - or you can chat with BH Photo and ask them
What you recommend I’m in between the zve10 II, r50, canon r8 or lumix s9… I like taking photos but also love doing short cinematic videos(a beginner) also I stream… so I want one that works for all 3… please help 🙏🏼
Is the stabilization enough in low light conditions? Is there any flicker in low light handheldvideos due to the stabilization? If not, I’ll go with this one; if yes, I’ll choose a6700 over this one. Asking because in this review everything looks really good and enough.
I'm buying the camera with the kit lens, why not? But I'm poor so I'm looking at the YONGNUO YN16mm F1.8S DA and their 11mm F1.8 Auto-Focus, both have gotten great reviews and offer some things that they Sony lens don't.....and they're both around $300, or less. So my question is.....which do you think I should buy first, the 16 or the 11?
Before you purchase a lens consider this. It depends on what you’re using it for specifically. I created a lens quiz to help you figure out which lens is best for you. Have you taken it yet?
Great review! My biggest complaint about my Sony alpha's is 4k/60 overheating, it is a major problem and sounds like it still is. From my standpoint where I shoot outdoor tennis matches this is a serious drag. I have had to resort to all kinds of time consuming stunts to try and get past the 20 minute overheat death - external battery, umbrella, freezer pack... I would go for an uglier body that addressed this, forgo any water resistance etc if they could just get them to stop overheating!
Thats actually a great question. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for what you are using it for. Have you taken it yet? Those are two different cameras so I’d need to figure out what your use case would be
I finally decided to start a RUclips channel of my woodworking metalworking and there is projects. So I purchased this camera Sony Z - E 10 mark two as well as the Tamron 17-70 2.8 F after watching your videos. I will also take outdoor photography so I have to buy ND lenses any recommendations? And thank you so much.
Does the background defocus button work with any lens, and can it be used for photography or just videos? I think it would be a huge help while shooting portraits!
Thanks for the review! But I bought a second a6700 three weeks ago. In terms of muscle memory and the ability to copy all settings from one body to the other, 400 more bugs was the better option!
All great points. the ZV-E10 Il is designed for ease of use and video-centric features, while the A6700 is a more versatile camera with a focus on photography and advanced video capabilities.
It’s good enough for most people wanting to create social media content. The whole full frame or bust is RUclips hype. I’m vested in Fujifilm but no doubt the autofocus is much better. Probably not the best vlogging camera but a P3 camera is a no brainer
thanks for the vid, i also watched your zv1m2 vid. what do you think is better for great quality vlogging between this and zv1m2? and due to the launch of e10m2, are still zv e1, a7c2 the best affordable sony vlogging camera?
The only mistake I did buying this was that my ZV-E1 is better at 640 ISO and the 12800 base Iso is ridiculous awesome. I have only used the ZV-e10ii twice, but the footage was great no doubt.
How timely. I was just wondering what camera I should consider buying. Im a painter/illustrator who needs it for livestreaming and taking high-res photos of my artwork. I'll be checking you out on how to get going with things, because I'm not a photographer.
Thats actually how I got into the ZV line- my mom is a painter! I’m a full time wedding professional and it wouldn’t work as an A cam for me. But for my moms content and high res photos of her art/references it is perfect!
it is worth the extra $300 for the battery life. The sensor and mode switch are better too. Add in all the 4K settings and you got a good starting camera
Hi! I really want to say how helpful your videos are! And right now it has helped me to slim my choices down to choosing between canon r50 and Sony zv-e10. I’m not sure which one to choose as I would like to do both photography and a bit of videography, please help. Thank you so much for all of your videos they are great! Also please make a lens video for different budgets!
Thats hard to say. It depends on what you’re using them for. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for you. Have you taken it yet?
Thanks for this very informative video. It's answered an unusual question I had about the camera, because if I get it - and I'm thinking I will - it will occasionally be used for filming complete operas, which often means more than an hour uninterrupted. But I won't need to do that in 4K60, in fact generally 1080/30 will be just fine and I now have confidence that will be possible. I love that this camera has battery life good enough for long opera acts. I do realise I'll be struggling for light some of the time but that's just the nature of the beast, shooting in a theatre. My one remaining reservation is about the lack of EVF, as I fancy using my next camera for stills when I'm on holiday, but most of my photos will be indoors so I guess I'll be able to see the image on the screen just fine.
I really like this cam, but no EVF and I'm not buying. I sometimes shoot on bright days and having no way to see the image is a no go. I know you can buy cheesy parts to block out the sun, but I'm not fiddling with that.
I brought the Mark I for £420, vs the £925 for the Mark II. The MK II is better, has the newer sensor (less rolling shutter), high frame rates, 10bit, luts, longer battery extra, but the increased cost just couldn't be justified. And the lack of IBIS is bummer for vlogger. So the only real extra is the touch screen, and its not worth it for an extra £505! I would expect no IBIS in the FX30 as professional film makers prefer gimbals instead of any moving parts on the sensor. i waited a while for this camera, but it was a big miss for me.
I understand your frustration. The price difference between the Mark I and Mark Il is substantial, and the lack of IBIS is a real drawback for vloggers. It's tough to justify the extra cost when the core features you need aren't there.
@@thefilmalliance it was a shame, the mk I shows its age, but it's still a very capable camera, brilliant for a studio, much like the original A6000 cameras. Sony was ahead of its time, so older models give great value. My only issue with the price, is that it's putting it in close competition with a6700 and fx30. My view is ZV-E10 is for vlogger/enthusiast. A6700 for photographer, and fx30 for film maker. These all have different needs and price points, the ZV-E10 however has taken some of the fx30 benefits that many won't need, and if they did need them they would have the funds to buy fx30, but by doing so they comprised on the price which was it's key selling point to the target market. I can understand them putting the new sensor in the mark II just so they can stop (if they haven't already) production of the old sensor.
Hello there ! Thank you for the video ! :) I am hesitating between 3 caméras... ZVE10 II, ZVE1 or A7 III, which one seems the best ? :( ZVE1 looks great but is the difference in pricing worth it ? Would be for filming teaching classes, exercices demonstration and some vlogging stuff (but mainly teaching classes & co) Thank you a lot !
Thats actually a very common question I get. All of the cameras you mentioned are great, but…. There’s a lot of factors at play. I understand because I was in your shoes at one point in my camera journey. To help people find the perfect camera, I created a ‘Which Camera Should I Buy?’ course and a free quiz. They might be helpful resources for you as you weigh your options.
@@thefilmalliance Thank you for your response ! :) Yes I did, it does recommand me the FX30, I also saw the sony A6700 which seems a perfect balance between the ZVE1 (a little too expensive and overkill for my purpose, for the moment at least) and the ZVE10 ii, what do you think ? :)
Currently deciding between this camera and the a7c. I wouldn't be able to afford a full frame lens to start and would probably just borrow a aps-c lens from a friend to get started. I intend to be doing a decent bit of low light work. Would this be better then a a7c with crop mode in low light, or what other options might work best?
Every camera has its different use for different applications. Have you tried taking my camera quiz? This may get you in the right direction. But from what you said, I would say go with the ZV-E10 II
Hello, I’m Manish from India, and I recently started following your RUclips channel. I really appreciate your engaging style and in-depth knowledge of cameras-it’s quite impressive! I’ve launched a RUclips channel for my kids, and currently, we’re using a 7-year-old Nikon D3200 for our videos and vlogging. I was intrigued by your review of the Sony ZV-E10 Mark II and am considering it for our channel. However, I can only afford one lens at the moment. Could you recommend a versatile, high-quality lens that would be suitable for both video and photography to pair with this camera? Also, if you have any other camera recommendations, I’d love to hear them. Thank you in advance for your guidance. I look forward to your reply! Best regards, Manish Bhati
Looking for a camera for fly fishing and have been interested in this one. Would use for outdoors and indoors content. Do you think this would be adequate or shud I look elsewhere?
Yes with the proper lens setup this would be perfect. I would recommend the ZV-E10 II paired with the Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens for fly fishing. I used that lens for documentary shooting and it was amazing
I have a quickkkk question… I’m in between Nikon z30, R50/R10 or zve10 II? My boy selling me his z30 with kit lens and sirui 23mm f1.2 for $600(which I think is a great deal) but out of all those which one you recommend? I like doing little short films and take pics as a hobby. PLEASE HELP. Also I like doing live streaming
Hey man, it depends on quite a bit of things that I recommend you need to consider before you make that investment. Have you taken my camera "Which Camera Should I Buy" course or free camera quiz yet? They should definitely help you. I have both on my website and linked in my latest video.
Woa! this video was great, i wish i could afford the a6700, but i think this little beast will need to handle what im about throw at it haha!!! im planning on learning with this camera and eventually do some shortfilms and professional work with it , such as corporate, documentary and gastronomic profiles, vertical content for customers and maybe a music video why not, do you think it could handle it ? or i should wait a little longer and get the a6700, my approach is to do art but make money out of it aswell for i can build my equipment and eventually get a better camera. Do you think i can make it with this camera ? Thanks for making great content ,as always! i appreciate every oz of hard work
Hey there, Thanks for the kind words about the video. I'm really glad you liked it. The A6700 is definitely a capable camera and can handle a lot of what you're planning to do. It's a great option for learning and growing your skills. While the A6700 has some additional features that could be beneficial for your future plans, the ZV-E10 II will still allow you to create amazing content. Ultimately, the decision comes down to your budget and priorities. If you can stretch for the A6700, it might be a good investment for long-term growth. But don't let it hold you back from starting your journey with the ZV-E10 II. You can always upgrade later as your business grows. Every camera has its different use for different applications. Have you tried taking my camera quiz? This may get you in the right direction.

Hey, so i am new in the Photo/ Videography space, wanting to upgrade from my Samsung galaxy s23 ultra with a Gimbal. The Sony ZV e10 ii looks like a cool upgrade for my first Actual Camera. I can understand them putting the new sensor in the mark II just so they can stop (if they haven't already) production of the old sensor.
Deciding if canon gx7 mark 3 or this camera 🥲
Hello there ! Thank you for the video ! :)
I am hesitating between 3 caméras... ZVE10 II, ZVE1 or A7 III, which one seems the best ? :(
ZVE1 looks great but is the difference in pricing worth it ?
Would be for filming teaching classes, exercices demonstration and some vlogging stuff (but mainly teaching classes & co)
Thank you a lot !
Hmm, I’d go with the ZV-E10 II
@@thefilmalliance Ok ty, so you think A6700 is not worth it even with the IA chip & co ?
What I love about sony apac is the lenses. My favorite practical is the sigma 18-50 2.8
But from what you said, I would say go with the ZV-E10 II
can I my Nikon F lens adapter to this Sony ZV-E10?
I don’t know

That's very nice of you. Do you own the ZV-E10 II ?
Hello,
I’m Manish from India, and I recently started following your RUclips channel.
Best regards,
Manish Bhati
Does the white exterior of the camera get dirty with time ??
Yes, please go with black
Looking for a camera for fly fishing and have been interested in this one. Would use for outdoors and indoors content. Do you think this would be adequate or shud I look elsewhere?
Yes with the proper lens setup this would be perfect. I would recommend the ZV-E10 II paired with the Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens for fly fishing. I used that lens for documentary shooting and it was amazing
@@thefilmalliance thank you very much for the feedback I really appreciate it.
I brought a6600 instead of zv e10
@@thefilmalliance you are trully amazing! thanks for taking the time to reply to my comment, really means a lot! i will take your quiz for sure! thanks :)
i am going to buy an a6700 or canon r8 i am very confused please reccomend one of these i think the r8 is equal to the a7cm2 and shows better skintones than sony and also better colour science and a6700 has its own advantages
I get it. Choosing a camera can be overwhelming with so many options out there. It's always hard for me to say without detailed context. To help, I made a 'Which Camera Should I Buy?' course and a free quiz. Check em out!
@@thefilmalliance thank you so much
hi, I have the sony rx100 vii, a very small zoom camera, and the sony a6700 with a few zoom lenses. I wonder how the photo quality compares?
Are you a hobbyist or doing film full time?
Sony zve10 ii or osmo pocket 3? For reels and pictures??
That vid is coming
How’s the 16-55mm stock lense for RUclips videos medium shots.
Perfect imo
@@thefilmalliance thanks. Im just looking for a great camera that can handle media better then an I phone for RUclips and run and gun docs. Its a bummer that it heats at 4k but tbh 1080 works if I have to shoot for 40mins
@@thefilmalliance think the a6700 would be a big step up ? For like 300-400 more both come with a lense
Buy sony zv e10 mark 2 or mark 1 for beginner and casual user?
ZV-E10 II. Its future proofing your growth
Just wondering if you ever tried the lower bitrate version of the 4k 10bit 4:2:2, vs the highest bitrate 4k 10bit 4:2:0? (XAVC-HS both)
I have, and for some reason, my editing rigs threshold is the 4:2:0 before I enter choppy waters. With that said, I haven't tried it with the ZV-E10 II. It may be a good option. Thanks for the idea💡
Hey, so i am new in the Photo/ Videography space, wanting to upgrade from my Samsung galaxy s23 ultra with a Gimbal. The Sony ZV e10 ii looks like a cool upgrade for my first Actual Camera. I focus on Ad creation, normal and Mobile/Instagram. Would you recommend the sony with the tamron lens for me or should i save up 4 something else? Also id like to get a Gimbal do you recommend a cage and gimbal for horizontal and vertical shots?
Thats hard to say. It depends on what you’re using them for. I created a camera quiz to help you figure out which camera is best for you Have you taken it yet?
@@thefilmalliance yes i took it but it recommends the Sony A7 iii which does not support 4k by 60 fps though, im doing mostly Ad content for social Media and hobby photography. Eyeballing the Sony A 6700 at the moment. Also like decent low light capavilities.
Yes then i’d say go with the a6700
What camera cage you recommend?
Smallrig
make a video about the canon r8 because for the same price you get 10 bit uncropped 4k60p full frame
Got it, Which camera did you end up liking more? the ZV-E10II or the R8?
@@thefilmalliance i didnt buy one i am going to buy an a6700 or canon r8 i am very confused please reccomend one of these i think the r8 is equal to the a7cm2 and shows better skintones than sony and also better colour science and a6700 has its own advantages
Very informative video. Thank you!
Thank you for all of the positive feedback. Are you planing on purchasing the ZV-E10II?
How did you upload this video only 3 hours ago? I've seen this exact video of yours before. Did you just make some edits and repost it, or what?
Wait what? This is fresh out the oven with some shots I got previously in my comparison videos
Now my question is, Sony Zv E10 ii or sony a 6700
Aha, your onto my next project. Stay tuned
Great video! +1 sub
I want a camara just to put it on my static setup on my bedroom, should i buy the first or the second edition of the z ve 10?, also the kit lent is enought?, thanks for the video.
ZV-E10 Mark 1 should be all you need imo
The camera is not working for me. Im recording in 10 bits and when i try to download it to my iphone or macbook it doesnt play and it doesnt allow me to download it. So sad, i bough it for social media. How can i fix this?
Change the file format would be my first guess. What file format are you shooting in?
Thanks for replying. This is the format Xavc S 4K 24, which is the format you suggest. Do i need a different program to view it on my iphone? When i try to download it to macbook or iphone it says "cant be read it" it doesnt happen when is 1080.. only when its 4k... please help. Im still in the return window i want to make a good decision. Thanks in advance 🙏
Is it worth for beginners?
Yes, Do you shoot professionally or as a hobby?
ZV-E10 II or A6700?
Great question, Have you seen my video on that? Both cameras have different use for different applications. Have you tried taking my "Which Camera Should I Buy” course, or my free camera quiz? I made both of these for anyone struggling with their camera decision.
@@thefilmalliance Yes, I have, but could you recommend something? This is my very first camera, and I use it for product unboxing and photography.

Mark II has no mech shutter. There isn’t any successor of A6400 so no more entry photo-centric camera from Sony sadly 😅
