      Thanks for tuning in, Nick! I'm still running this wheel and tire set up on my Hot Racing Rock Racer. It's awesome. They're the perfect mod for the 1/24 scale.

    If you look one of the holes is at the bottom of the V line these 2 holes up with the front & the back. The others will then be in line. I found putting a screw in every other hole, snug those down then put the other three screws in and tighten them all down. It’s best to tighten the screws in a criss cross pattern.

    • @VermontScaleCustoms
      @VermontScaleCustoms  3 года назад

      Yeah, with 3 different sets of these on three different RC's I've gotten pretty good at assembling them. They're stamped one way and need to go back together that same way or they just don't line up. I always use a criss-cross pattern when setting them but I'll do a full circle pattern to give a little final torque. Thanks for the comment.

    It's cool that you can upgrade such a small rig. These 24th scale are getting really interesting.

    • @VermontScaleCustoms
      @VermontScaleCustoms  3 года назад +1

      I'm convinced the 1/24 scale is where it's at! I like 1/18, too but the variety of parts are more difficult to find.
      The cool thing is that the 1/24 parts are affordable. I have two 1/10 rigs that break the bank every time I want to do something to them!

      I got lucky and looked at RC4WD's site one day a couple of weeks ago and saw that they had a set of Patagonias for 1.0" in stock. I did not hesitate for a second and grabbed them. Building a second set for the D90 I just built.

    They look awesome! Glad you went through that installation process. I've seen a few different sets that I was interested in but kind shy'd away from them not sure how difficult the process would be.

    • @VermontScaleCustoms
      @VermontScaleCustoms  3 года назад

      Thanks, Chad! I definitely recommend going for it. It's not too difficult and gets easier with a little practice. For the PITA they are, they're totally worth it in the long run! Some beadlock wheels will be easier, as well. These are difficult because they're sort of the low end that RC4WD makes. Higher end milled aluminum wheels go together much easier, for sure.

    I like the all white look without the factory decals. I might do the same. Did you paint the rear topper section or tape it black?

    Hey Mark, how are you liking the Pat’s? these are the tires that Im about decided on for my Rubi. Also thinking of getting the SSD 1” wheels when available (they are 23g each). any thoughts? Ive already got the 13g diffs fr and r and the knuckles...

    • @VermontScaleCustoms
      @VermontScaleCustoms  3 года назад +2

      They're awesome. Perfect fit for the Rubicon. Perfect for this chassis, really. Good traction and much wider than stock. Decided to leave the foams in and so far so good. My only thoughts on the wheels would be weight and straining the motor. I burned my motor up with just 10g wheel weights on it with factory wheels and tires.

    Could you combine the wheel weights in the video with the RC4WD wheels? I've tried but the axles is fairly short and it's hard to get the wheel weigts out of the wheels again afterwards, so I'm not sure whether it's good to combine them.

    • @VermontScaleCustoms
      @VermontScaleCustoms  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for your question. I just checked a set of wheel weights with a set of stamped steel bead locks and they would work if the wheel weight hex was filed down on all six sides to fit the hub of the wheel. I was looking on eBay once and I think I saw a set of wheel weights specifically for RC4WD wheels. The fit like sleeves over the hub. Pretty cool idea.

      Thank you! I started this RC channel on a whim and had no idea how well it would do. Thanks for the sub! #65 🙏
      I really like my MN99s after I switched all the WPL upgrade parts over to it. As for the WPL trucks, I haven't touched those for months since I got that Defender!
      The SCX24s, Panda Hobby Tetra X1, and the RC4WD 1/18 pretty much get all my attention these days. The WPLs just sit on a shelf. I have a 1/18 Defender body from RC4WD that's waiting on a chassis to build it up. I may hybridize an SCX24 for it. I think it would work really well for the scale / body size.

    • @VermontScaleCustoms
      @VermontScaleCustoms  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I see that people are charing $70 for a set of 1" aluminum beadlock wheels when you pay only $30-40 for a set of 1.9" to throw on a 1/10 scale crawler. No one should pay more than $25 for a set of these stamped steel wheels! Thanks for tuning in, sgecko7!

      My only suggestion is to do like I did and just keep checking RC4WD’s site. It’s a crapshoot but there is always a chance. I got super lucky one week and nabbed a second set of Patagonia 1” and then the following week a set of black stamped steel bead lock wheels appeared on the site. It’s the luck of the draw.
