Really enjoyed this video. This post was a stark reminder of personal ancient history for me. Having shoveled what felt as a lifetimes worth of New York snow as a kid, I jumped at a career opportunity of moving to South Carolina almost fifty years ago after leaving the Service and have only had to shovel snow once in all those years. My hats off to you for doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done no matter how bad or tired you felt and also not trying to blow off your job because of weather or conditions. You're the type of person that people will look up to. Post us another video on your backyard lake when all that snow finally melts.
That open station tractor gets old! People think Buffalo gets snow, but down here on the Chautauqua ridge is really what gets it consistently...although we only got 2 feet from that last storm. I keep several machines ready to move snow. Have a 45 hp Kioti open station, 24 hp Kioti w/cab with a front snowblower, and a 2500 Chevy HD with a plow. Mostly use the blower so I don't have to move mounds later in the winter. I don't ever plan to rely on anyone else!

Hi, late comment. I do a herring bone pattern with my kubota to cut the banks back alternating left ad right until i get to yhe highway. We had a 40 inch event a few years back. The Ford powerstroke with the fisher does my 1600 foot driveway, but I always go back to the kubota to cut the banks back. Great video

Your snow pusher is awesome! I used to plow my driveway with the rear blade and use the front bucket for moving deep snow around. However the tractor was just too heavy and would pack the snow down on my hills. I had some very scary backward slides trying to get up my driveway and pushing snow up the hill was impossible. Now I plow my driveway (550ft) and parking area with my quad. It's so much faster, I can plow both ways (it will push snow up hills) and with the angled blade the plowing goes a lot faster. Thank you for this video, I will show it to my wife. Because she would like to plant some shrubs along the entrance of the house. I always tell her that with all the snow we get here in Quebec, it would be an obstacle when it comes time to clear the snow.
Nice, thanks for posting. Haven’t seen any actual plow videos of the 4-6’ of snow in your area so cool to see it. Good job staying on stop of it. Plowing 6’ in one go would have been frustrating. I run a 6’ pusher and a 6’ rear blade, love it for winter. And I just installed some of those igrips studs in my rear R4’s so now just waiting for the snow. They can be removed and price isn’t too bad. Have some R14s on front that do decent in snow, definitely better than the front R4’s did.
I've honestly never thought about studding my tires just because everyone runs chains...I might have to look into that, thanks for the tip, thanks for watching!
if you get this much snow regularly in winter months a snowblower would be a game changer for ya. never run out of room and no big snow piles to melt in the spring.
It’s taken me a while to get to this point, but I’m where I’ve always dreamed to be to have my own personal shop, and that truck I’ve wanted since I was a kid. Finally had the opportunity to buy one and found a deal I couldn’t pass up. I have a whole playlist on that truck if you want to check itnout
I was born in Germany and was there till I was seven. Lots of snow! Hated it. Then I moved to Kansas. Not so much but some snow, and it is really wet snow there. Hated that too. I move to San Diego and then Vegas. I really hate snow and never want to see it again. I can't imagine dealing with what you just had to deal with. You'll probably get worse storms throughout the winter.
Thanks for taking the time to video that. I should put one of those pushers on my Skid-Steer. I've been using a big snow bucket, which works well on the asphalt part of the drive, but that's only about 20% of what I have to plow if we get a big snow. The adjustable feet to prevent scraping up the millings, which work impressively well, are a huge feature. We don't get that much snow ever. 2016 was the last really big one that took two days to dig out of.
Hey neighbor - enjoyed the video. I moved to OP from the city this year, we got a JD 1025R to hobby farm some of our land and I got a blower for the snow to handle our 400' driveway. First time tractor owner, this was a doozy of a storm to break in our house and equipment. Broke a shear bolt without knowing what a shear bolt was yet so fixing that up this week before we get our next round.
@@EverythingElliott hah, just picked up a bag of 10 shears from Landpro down in Springville. I did get a grade 5 bolt and nylock nut at lowes and was about to put it on there but got terrified of breaking it worse
@@zachslaybaugh2691 just keep it out of ice chunks and rocks, you should be fine. You can also replace it with bolts and run a slip clutch on the Blower
Similar setup here in 🇨🇦 for moving snow on our property. After a few heavy snowfalls I found that it got challenging to pile the snow on top of previous so I added a snowblower attachment to our Kubota. Made a huge difference.
@@EverythingElliott I’m in need gland.have a dodge 3500 with a fisher.handles some serious snow but you’ve got a nice setup.when you were in your garage contemplating whether or not to put the bucket on!!i said to myself do it,do it😂

I'm a procrastinator so I know first hand how putting things off costs you later, but if you had tuned your driveway up with a box blade/land plane you wouldn't have the issues with scalping your driveway now. That snow pusher looks pretty small but if you don't have tire chains it's probably all the bigger you want, to be honest where you live a snow blower would be a welcome addition to the line up I'm sure. You should find a way to make an implement storage rack like some of the other youtubers do so you can find them and them in the snow. Tractor time with Tim has a great idea for a rack system with the heavy duty shelves, I would secure them to my building, and have them inside and out. When I lived in Western NY I had a short driveway and the City did a nice job of keeping the streets clean so I just shoveled around my cars and that was that, but if you live in the country and it says "Seasonal Maintenance" you better figure that you're on your own!
I do have tire chains no, built them myself, actually made a video on that. The pusher is 6’ and I don’t want it much bigger given the door I pull my tractor into is 8’. I used to have a blower but it put a hurtin on my back and neck from being spun around in the seat, and let’s be honest. Playing with the loader is just plain more fun!
@@EverythingElliott Plus with a front mount blower you would look like the abominable snowman in "Rudolph the red nosed reindeer" by the time you were done.(without a cab)
@@bradh74 there has to be a cross over point where snow stacked on your body no longer becomes cold, and it becomes an insulator. With a front mount, I would find that cross over.
@@EverythingElliott I would too, anything to avoid a damn shovel after back injury. I'd drag a 2x4 behind my car if that's what it takes to leave the shovel for the steps.
I can't imagine that much snow from one storm. The most I have seen where I live is around 25 inches. That took us all day to clean up. There were a lot of shed roofs that collapsed because of the weight.
Thanks for watching! I’m sure there’s going to be plenty more snow content this winter to help you reminisce! Don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss out on reliving the nightmare
I live in the Pacific Northwest and we can and have gotten hit like your storm dump. Just ordered a 6 foo pusher for my 5 ho tractor which the dealer said should be fine. Chains and blower on the rear!! Snow is WORK!
Gotta say...... I used to push snow......mountains of it. Then I purchased a 7 foot snow blower. I would never go back to pushing ever again! The snow blower spreads it so you never really see the build-up. Never any pushed up snow ridges to deal with either! From Alberta, Canada. Cheers....Eh?
A good set of chains would help allot with that much snow , a good snowblower would be good butt expensive . WE wouldn't get much more all winter in Newbrunswick Canada . Good job
Don't be afraid to use your steering brakes to Help turn. Don't forget your roof it's a lot of weight up there.I got some led lights for the roll bar, makes it nice at night, front and back.
Hello ,Rex DeLong here ,just got on your channel , like your content , I live in upper NY off of Lake Ontario in Oswego County were we get hammered too with lake effect , we were lucky we only got 2 ft of snow this time, noticed you have one of the steel building for a garage how does it hold up with snow load you get ? I have a John Deere 2038 with a snow pusher along with a 54 inch three point hitch blower ,I use the blower when I can't get the snow where I want it, I put on a original cab on my tractor this year got sick of getting snow on me it was worth the cost ,enjoy your video keep them coming.
Howdy neighbor, I love the steel building. It’s engineered for the local snow code. Which I believe is like 144 pounds per sqft. I haven’t had any issue with the building itself. Thanks for watching!
Funny how we enjoy watching others do the same thing we do. Misery must love company. Good thing you're young, I'm too old to be doing this without a cab and heat. Have a 1742 Massey with front blade and rear facing blower
I agree 100% I actually used to have one, but my back and neck took a beating from being turned around the entire time using it. and buying a front mount, or drag behind blower just aren't in the budget right now.
@@skinnerresidentialremodeli8109 There are front mount and pull type snowblowers that don't require operating the tractor in reverse. Snowblowers are way faster than any plow or loader bucket when dealing with feet of snow.
I love your OBS ! I'm from Rochester NY but my show up yard is in Lockport NY . I was on stand by for national grid from Thursday afternoon to Sunday night . That was a shit ton of snow !
I could not even imagine 5 feet I live outside Pittsburgh and 20 inches is a big thing but I do love to play in the snow with the proper machines. whew that's a lot of snow great vid.
I invested in a 3pt hitch snowblower, 30" light bar on the front of the ROPS and 2 3" cube LED`s pointing back on the ROPS. Literally night and day for snow clearing lol
Having lived un upstate ny all of my life, the huge lake effect snowfall’s take a toll on ya. Every year it seems to get harder to deal with….I went with a JD 3032r and use the loader bucket… its not that efficient as a snow pusher but you can move huge piles to make room for more huge piles….when i finally retire I am outta here from November to April….will return though because there is nothing on earth like a summer in the finger lakes
Good job with the video and all the snow removal. It’s definitely not fun having to work before you go to work. Question about your shop. What size is it? And do you have any issues in certain seasons with the walls or roof sweating?
Nice vid. I lived in Jamestown, NY and worked in Dunkirk for a year....Two different worlds, nothing like east of Buffalo though. I didn't see a link for the glasses. Let me know brand, etc. Thx!
Awesome job! I love Kabotas. They have a snowblower attachment that can blow some serious snow. Might be a good investment. I noticed that your plow is tilted up a bit from the camera angle. It is probably hard for you to tell from your position you could try tilting it 2 inches down and see how it does and if it needs further adjustment you can tilt it back up. I know you raised the skis up all the way and I compensated for that. You do a great job! I think you should take a break and pound down a couple of bush lights and enjoy your weekend.🍙❄
Front mount snow blower just isn’t in the budget, I don’t have a mid PTO on my tractor so they get extremely expensive. I used to have a rear mount blower but it was super taxing on my back and neck being spun around the entire time. Thanks for watching!
Wife and I lived in the village of Hamburg during Snowember 2014, I had to be creative where I put snow. We had 72 inches that storm. And raking snow off the roof is very time consuming. Merry Christmas.
1Hour North of Syracuse in Watertown New York. We got hit almost as hard. Buffalo area generally gets hit harder but Northern NY got snow we have not seen since 1977
@@EverythingElliott Oh yes, I was a kid so my memories are of fun in the snow but it was no picnic for adults. We dragged the tabogan to the grocery story down the center of the road. Good Times.
Did he mention keeping the grease gun WARM and full? I've done 24" over 3 days my huge property 3320 Deere 6' loader including some neighbors an 2 car dealerships. You must run constantly and don't get behind. Have diesel in advance.
@@EverythingElliott looks like you have the luxury of the shop and "power-lube" I'm just a qualiyy Lincoln hand held and 2-3 zerks won't cooperate. Rest assured I can't phantom the # of loader/ bucket dumps that takes. I reccomend a rear roll over blade to assist. Mine is 800#. $2000 well spent.
New to your channel!! Glad to see another WNY'er. I only got 6 inches of snow that weekend in Town of royalton thankfully. I dont have equipment for snow removal yet smh
Great video.Crazy snow, kubota handled it like a champ. We would like to hear the tractor instead of the music.Nothing better than a good running engine! More!
Thanks for watching. I try to keep the music quiet but I had to put something in there, the camera was rattling in its holder and made and awful noise in a lot of the shots
Is your 'lake effect' snow usually wet and heavy or do you normally get 'dryer' snow later in the winter? I would think a snow blower would be much better than a pusher, unless it's always wet and heavy. It's always a PITA when we get wet heavy snow before the ground freezes and if it sticks around, the ground doesn't freeze well with a blanket of insulation on it.
It all depends where the cold front comes from. If it comes across the lake on its way to us, it’s always really wet and heavy, if it comes across land we get the typical light fluffy snow
nice video, sorry you got all that snow... Mother Nature can be cruel sometime's. I live in northern New Hampshire and we get are fair share, noting like that thankfully. have you ever tried putting chains on your front tires? I have them on my side by side and we also put them on our 950 loaders. they help a lot with the steering and pushing that little bit more....
That was a crazy storm that we got. I live near attica and we got 3 feet of snow and my dad has a Kubota tractor with a front mounted snow blower and that was a big help during the storm. Nice video.
I have the ag or big lug tires so had to go with the DUO chains. Haven't used them yet, but looks like this week we get pounded, so work begins. My pusher won't be here for another several days, but I also use my quad to plow...chains on all 4 tires!
Define common…we get big storms like this every year, but normally 3’ at a time. However we get snow allllllll winter. I would love a heated enclosed cab. That being said, there wouldn’t be much left of the cab glass and lights during summer when I romping through the woods with the tractor. Maybe when I’m a little older and my bones are a little more brittle I’ll finally switch over
Great video. I have a L4240 and I can’t decide between 60” & 72”. Seriously leaning towards the 72”, what would you say to talk me out of it or would you? I’m fully paved and mostly level. Horseshoe driveway in front of the house with one side going straight, 2 1/2 lanes wide X 120’, beside the house to the back yard… straight shot.
The one on my tractor is a 72" and I'm sure you can see how I struggle at times without chains. I have no aversion to running chains on my driveway because its millings, I just haven't come across the right deal for a set yet. I wouldn't want to run chains on a paved drive because it could mar it up... I would be concerned that you'll end up with more snow in the pusher than your tractor can push at the 84". That being said, it also depends what kind of snow you get. Here, we get all lake effect snow which is super moist and heavy, causing the above problem. If the majority of the snow you get is light and fluffy, go with the big boy.
@@EverythingElliott, you echo my concerns about going with the bigger one. To your point about chains, two year old asphalt and I’m not about to go there. I’ve been back plowing forever with a very heavy 7’ back blade and my old hockey neck just can’t take the strain anymore, it’s why I’m considering this, but if I go big or with the smaller one I’ll be in the same boat either way, at times struggling to make the initial pass. So my thought is to just put an insane angle on the back blade for the initial cut and take as big of bites as necessary with the pusher to get the job done. That way when it’s light and fluffy I’ve given nothing up by going with the 7’. I just hope I’m not underestimating the potential overkill of the 7’ shovel, lol. I live about 40 miles south of Erie in the snow belt and we too get some heavy snow at times, but I think you have the potential for larger accumulations. And WOW did you guys just get dumped on!! Thanks for the information and your time! If anyone reading this has any opinions either way feel free to throw them my way. I live very close to Jamestown, Pa where these are made so I’ll be planning a trip up this Monday to have a look at one. Cheers~
@@jeffhanaway3943 well, just put it this way, but the 7' pusher, and if your tractor can't handle it, that's just a good excuse to buy a bigger tractor!
Awesome wish uk got this amount snow. I would suggest adding some lights to the top the rear bar to add more range to the lights at night bro honestly you would see such a difference
I wonder how they measure snow there. It doesn't look like even 3 feet on your roof or the car parked in your driveway. I realize that the wind can blow light fluffy snow around but the early snows are usually heavy so they don't blow much. I saw video of people using walk behind snowblowers in what the news said was 66 inches of snow but it was only waist high. Maybe the man operating the blower was 10 feet tall? I'm 6'2" and 2 feet is knee high. 5 feet is shoulder high.
They measure accumulation, so as it falls it’s counted. After snow sits for hours it compresses. Hence why you only see that much on the car. The roof isn’t a fair assessment because heat from the house melts the snow on the roof (I live in an old inefficient house). This is pretty much the standard way of snow measurement across the country. Thanks for watching!

This certainly isn’t the last of the snow for this year, that is for sure.
Yeah the adjustable feet are a must if you have any thing over than pavement. Thanks for watching!
Just subscribed. Nice video. Only got about 2 feet over the weekend in Tonawanda.
Thanks for the support!
I didn’t tell you to do this, but you can run grade 5 bolts instead of sheer pins. I run bolts on all my stuff because I was sick of blowing pins.
You can also replace it with bolts and run a slip clutch on the

Similar setup here in 🇨🇦 for moving snow on our property. After a few heavy snowfalls I found that it got challenging to pile the snow on top of previous so I added a snowblower attachment to our Kubota. Made a huge difference.
I’d love a front mount blower, just not in the budget right now

Exactly my thoughts, I would be dead on my feet by lunchtime if I was up doing this at 4am! Bloody hard worker!
Yeah we get a storm like this about once a year. This one has been the biggest in a couple years though

Howdy neighbor, I love the steel building. It’s engineered for the local snow code. Which I believe is like 144 pounds per sqft. I haven’t had any issue with the building itself. Thanks for watching!

Temperatures have to be cold in order to make lake effect snow so that usually makes the snow a lighter powder.
So glad I live in Texasss 🤠 that work looks tedious. I couldn't even imagine. 😅

I actually have chains for my ATV! Bought them at a garage sale for $5. I don’t think I’ll get so lucky looking for tractor chains
Well done video! Looks like fun!
It’s amazing how chores can become fun when you’re using equipment
If this is a common and normal event I could see buying a blower and heated cab a worthwhile and justified expense.
Define common…we get big storms like this every year, but normally 3’ at a time. However we get snow allllllll winter. I would love a heated enclosed cab. That being said, there wouldn’t be much left of the cab glass and lights during summer when I romping through the woods with the tractor.
I meant 72” & 84” with a preference towards 84”
Just found your channel and subscribed as im also a New Yorker. Great video!

Thanks for watching!
lol i bet you wish you had a cab for that tractor the look you give when you got done plowing at 14:20
