FINALLY FOUND the right SNOWBLOWER for my TRACTOR. JUST in time AFTER anther SNOW STORM | off grid

  • Finally found the right snowblower close enough for the right price. It has been on the list for the past several years but never quite made it high enough on the priority list to happen until now. After plowing out several times already this year, and having a bunch of wear and tear accumulate on the plowing equipment, we decided to make a serious effort to acquire a FRONT MOUNT - REAR PTO snowblower for our tractor. Just as we started looking with intent to buy, one came available about 80 miles away and was worth the effort. All we can say is, what an improvement!

Hey on those couplings just find the coupling that fits the snow blower and put it on one end of a piece of hose and then on the other end that features on your tractor then what you can do is have that short hose that you can just put in between the 2 and you won't have to buy a long long hose

Just a suggestion. I know I'm late to the party but if you put an impeller kit on there it will go a long ways towards keeping your snowblower from slugging up with that wet stuff. Also you should do yourself a huge favor and look up a soft tractor cab for that thing that you can take off in the summer. I know they seem like a little bit of money but dang it they are so worth it mine's original tractor cab ,but there's another company called cover my tractor that also makes them. They look like pretty solid units too. As an added bonus in the summertime you have a sunshade is something to keep the rain off of you when you take the skin off. Anyway no criticism just a suggestion thanks for taking us along on the ride

"SWEET", a snowblower! How this will make a dramatic and positive change in your life. Food for thought, you should consider an LED light bar upon the top of your tractor roll bar, facing forward and backward; if possible. Fun video, "thanks" for sharing; until next time, stay safe and healthy.

I am a long time snowblower…40+ years. My current unit is 72” wide and 24” high. I’ve read many of the other comments and much of what they say is good info. I would emphasize; keep your rpm’s high ( I presume 540 rpm) and your ground speed low enough that your tractor doesn’t bog down. My snowblower’s discharge chute has polypropylene sheets lining it so snow will not build up in it. Polypropylene is very slippery. I have also heard of some folks painting the impeller area with nonstick paint. Don’t know how well it works but seems like it might be a workable idea. Keep a set of tools with you along with shear bolts. Regular preventive maintenance real important. Keep everything well lubed. Best luck to you!

Now I see a need for a second tractor dedicated for snow duty (no loader only the hydro) and as a spare since you already have a loader. Redundancy since you need a tractor for the ranch.

Maybe later on you can fine a older 4x4 tractor that you can put the snowblower on and your newer tractor you can put the back blade and the front lift. If you get some block of wax melt it an brush it on the snowblower it will help a lot from the snow a slush sticking. Wow you do have a lot to snow remove

Maybe look into attaching strips of heavy rubber to the ends of the impeller blades. With heavy wet snow, it has a habit of sticking to the sides of the tunnel and plugging it up. With the rubber strips being closer to the tunnel walls, the snow gets scraped off and gets throw further. Just a thought. If you try it, screw or bolt the strips so they are just before touching the walls. Don't want to wear them out.

Seems the Snow Blower needs more Power and Speed to the Snow Blower itself. Is there a way to up the speed on the Blower without increasing speed on the Tractor ? When running snow Blowers here we always make sure the Blowers are throwing the snow 25 to 40 Feet to get the snow of and away from the road. Of course you know all this. Maybe away to Hear proper speed to Blower. Great Show I'll watch some more. Place seems really nice. You can make a cab. On the tractor. Run a 12 volt Heater they work better then you might think. Happy Travels stay safe.

@@MountainMapleRanch left there about 38 years ago. Was back a few years ago to bury my uncle. still love that small town. -but it just kills me what Jackson has become… sad to me. Star valley winter’s sure last a long time there, but I’m told they aren’t as severe as they used to be. Lived on a sheep ranch there and boy did we have snow. I remember my siblings and I going trick-or - treating and there was already almost 2 feet of snow on the ground. -The wife and I are actually thinking of moving back to cold country. Everyone says we’re crazy cause we’re not supposed to move to the snow as we age, but I got one more “call of the wild” in me that I got to appease before I’m really old, so if we can get our house sold we will actually be fellow Idahoans. We considered Star Valley but the only real jobs are in Jackson. And we don’t want (nor can we afford) to live there, but Idaho is a pretty nice place so that’s the plan. We will be west of you though (closer to the capital unfortunately) but got bought a little piece of raw land up in the mountains, so we will be starting over from scratch as well. It will be about 50+ min drive to work for the wife, as she is also a nurse. She drives 30 minutes now so she feels like she can adapt. it’s just the adapting to driving in the snow that’s got us a little concerned cause down here in southern Utah we don’t have to deal with it. We may learn that we are going to need a snow blower and something to attach it to as well. -That attachment to your tractor was a great find, and I hope it serves you well for many years! …Ah, my apologies, that was very long winded…

When you get a chance, in The drum area Where the snow is kicked out, You need to put rubber wipers for the inside of the drum So it keeps that area cleared out anytime it receives snow. You'll find improved operation of the snowblower. I did that to my used ariens snowblower, And it went from a 5-ft arc to a 30 ft ark. Right now you're snowblower which is bigger than my Ariens is throwing the same amount of snow my Ariens threw When I first got it. The rubber wipers were made from a mud flap that I had lying around. Don't hesitate to do this or you be kicking yourself in the ass. I used three bolts for each wipers. Always carry a can of pam to lubricate the wipers For when it first starts up.

It had a windshield (which would always fog up) front and sides and panels on the sides of the engine that would direct heat back toward your body. It did really well on the windy days to help block the wind and gave you a little heat.

Did not know they made such a setup with the rear pto and front mount. Nice. Then if your tractor has a float function for the loader once you get that hooked up I know it'll do you good. Looks like you might need to turn the rpm's up a little and go a little slower in the heavy stuff, but other than that looks good.

@@romeoneverdies I think you need a pretty modern tractor to have a front PTO. It's a real luxury to have a front mounted blower. Last time I checked prices, the rear mounted ones were often considerably cheaper at new prices.

@@l337pwnage rear mount are way cheaper. In addition to front mount blower you also need the subframe which makes it even *more* expensive. And you don't get a loader. But the front mount sure looks convenient.

You can purchase front mount kits that attach to the frame for the John Deere and Kubota subcompacts. You then run the front mounted snow blower to the mid pto. The front mounting of implements on compact tractors is more common in Europe because they typically don't have loaders.

I would've put a plow on front and snowblower on back to plow smaller storms fast.

I honestly didn't know there was such a snow blower as this. My dad has a snow blower he cleans the farm driveways that is a rear mount. He got it in 1986 and it still works great. I got to use it alot in the 1992 winter we had when I still lived at home. That thing would clear driveways with those deep drifts that the pickup truck plows couldn't even get through. We cleared a neighbor's driveway and parking area in less than an hour that the plow would've taken half a day. Having to twist around and drive in reverse is definitely not fun and neither is getting sprayed with snow from the chute.

My husband used an old backhoe without a cab to plow! Always felt bad for him. Be saved up money to buy a nice backhoe with a cab, heater and radio!! He's styling' now! Be also bought a flatbed Ford from the city and put a plow on the front! He's all set! I guess in trying to say is hang in there, one day you'll have a blower with a cab!! Looks like you're in the Afton area. Love it up there!
