There’s something so peaceful about the snow, the utilitarian nature of the plow, the one man against nature, put in the hours helping out the community. It’s all very satisfying. Thank you for posting.
Growing up in central NY and living in the NE and MW regions, I’ve always enjoyed plowing/blowing snow… even if I lacked the enclosed cab feature for my garden tractor, I’d still be out there, bundled up like “Nanick of the North”, plowing my driveway and sidewalks, along w/ that of my neighbors…. Always enjoy the ambiance of plowing later in the evening - scent of fireplaces burning logs, the dark and starry sky, the cold making your nose runny and your eyes tearing up, the deafening quiet and stillness of the night, w/ the only noise being the sound of your tractor, blade and it’s tire chains on the packed snow surface…almost a magical time
Awesome we need 10 more feet of snow up there. California needs the water. The lakes are gonna be so full It’s gonna be awesome. Praise the Lord need more rain and snow.
Even though I don't live up that high, I sure do appreciate what you do for your community. Without people like you, winter life up there would be even more difficult or impossible.
Much appreciation for the hard work you guys do keeping the local areas open and safe. And CalTrans also who keep the main hwys safe 50 and 80. Snow plowers dont get enough credit.👍
In Washington state they fired all the good plow drivers during covid for not wanting to take the “mandated” jab. It ruined access to multiple passes out here for months because the experienced drivers were fired. It was so disgusting that they did that to people that were so important to those areas.
Skied in Tahoe several times. Opened the door to a wall of powder. It may well have been your dad who cleared our road enabling us to get to the resorts. We stayed between the Bridgetender and Homewood. If it was him, God bless him. I love Tahoe but it’s a rich man’s game now. Best wishes from the UK.
That's awesome! I'm 44 and live in the north eastern United States (New England) been plowing my whole life, I love it! But for years we haven't had snow like what you got. I'm jealous! Btw you do a great job! You know what you're doing, 110%! Keep it up kid. From one plow guy to another👍
Growing up in Minnesota, I learned the concept of space management. Basically, it means, where do you put the snow. When looking at new homes I always have that in the back of my head and decided against some houses because there was no place to put the snow. Parts of me would love to take over for these guys to give them a break. Alas, I live in CO and we have our own share of snow. Thankfully, I have a beast of a snowblower. Even with the wet heavy snow we got Mid March, it was still able to throw it far enough. When the snow is light and fluffy, it can throw it about 30 feet!! I love blowing snow, I love being out in the winter helping others out. My neighbors like it when I am out as I do as much as I can of their driveways.
I'm watching all of your videos. Not living where you are, we only see a few brief clips on the network news. Your videos give a very real perspective of what you folks are dealing with. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts. They're all well done -- from inside the cab, from the street, with the plow, with the blower, daytime, nighttime.
Thank you! I really do enjoy working with my dad. Before I started working with him, he was plowing this neighborhood all by himself for 38 years!! Crazy
I was with the California Conservation Corps at their Tahoe Center when this was happening and man it sure was crazy. The amount of calls we got just to help shovel out the roofs of local high schools and elementaries is something i'll never forget. We were out there for about 10hrs a day just shoveling and sometimes it'd rain so we'd all be freezing cold by the end of the day! When it was all done though, it was super rewarding to hear from those people we helped all those cold months :) hopefully the snow doesnt get as bad as it was this yr.
So much smoother and quieter in snow than typical dirt/rock work. (nixing the backup buzzer a major improvement that everyone appreciates, especially at 3am, they have rear cam on the screen anyway) Modern Cat loaders very pleasing to run.
OMG dude i never seen this lifestyle in my life or even people living in snow like that what a awsome person you must be to help out like that... Thank you very much for the upload really really great content.
I think this is my favorite RUclips video! The right operator on the right equipment doing a fantastic job! True, the night snow fall with quality camera footage!! Well done!!
Yep, that’s a lot of snow. Nice work utilizing the machine in an efficient manner. I salute you for looking after the community. I live in a part of New York that usually is pummeled by snow but this year the most we’ve seen at once is four inches and it was melted by noon the following day. Stay safe
With that amount of driveways and a shitload of snow to deal with, I am impressed that you are able to feel positive about it. I am happy to live in a neighbourhood where more than 5-6 inch of snow is a rarity in one day. And we also have a fleet of new JCB loaders to push it around for us on those days, so I guess we are pampered. Nice to see what your day is like. Feel free to comment a little more. It makes it more interesting. Good luck.
Hey Family in North Shore Bro n law worked out of North Shore Cal Trans yard. Was there in 80s with snow was over 20' in Soda Springs/Donner. The snow tunnels were awesome.
OMG dude! So much snow! Awesome video! We got snow at the beach in that last big storm, lol. It's definitely been a crazy winter here in Cali! Thanks for the longer video, keep em coming bro!
I wish I could find a place to live where it was like this most of the time of the year. That's a playground for me. I absolutely love plowing snow. I've done guy for many, many years before I retired. I'm 50 years old but I can still plow snow all day long and do it. I miss it. I'll find that job someday soon.
in iowa, the operators go out of their way to trap our driveways with a packed icemix near the road, usually 3 feet deep and 10 feet onto the driveway.
Scoop You voluntarily live in the environment you should expect to have an impact on your life! Amazing to see the efforts to keep people moving and safe! I sure hope they appreciate it but given our current situation expect that people just complain! Was up there last year un the warm months and the piles of snow were still crazy
My snow blower for my house broke one year in the middle of a week of bad storms. And I am not that mechanically inclined, so it scared the poops out of me that I wasn't able to get out. A neighbor helped me fix it. But when you have big machines like yours, what happens if a hydraulic line goes out...or anything else. Thanx for posting though...it is kind of mesmerizing to watch
Bigger is just much heavier, hoses become very stiff and can be difficult but usually doable with determination and a little bush ingenuity and decent tool kit.
We keep some spare hydraulic lines and parts and typically Cashman equipment (dealer) takes care of us in emergencies. Would be nice to have a backup machine though! Thanks for watching!
I liked seeing the snow from inside especially during a storm. It was the cold and aftermath of dealing with it that I couldn't take. That's partly what brought us far enough south to a place which averages 3" of snow per year. Much better now.
I skied the day before that avalanche. They closed early to blast. Remember that year. Our power went out for 3 weeks. Or maybe that was the next year. Both were big. Always loved when a loader would take putty on us and swipe the driveway, haha. Nice video
I love plowing snow. I use a Cat 930M and a Cat 950M. Personally I like the 930 but the 950 can handle a lot more in the big pushes and can stack higher when needed. Thanks for sharing this vid tho. Give me something to look forward to on the snow days.
I run a loader in Buffalo NY. Being out there in the middle of the night is calming when everyone else is asleep. Your tire chains must make a difference because these machines as big as they are will struggle at times for traction. Work safe and watch for those buried cars
Modern Cat loaders have a very pleasing way about them, I run them just enough to work on 'em, not an operator, but I've seen major improvements over the decades.

Couldn't agree more! Thanks for watching!
The standing wave of snow in front of the bucket is amazing!
Awesome driver but a bigger blade even better , Great job guys !!!

You paint a really nice picture 😎👍
Some of the most intense snow plowing I’ve ever seen. Back dragging, snow drifts, stacking, be safe out there sir. This is where the big boys play.
you must be from california
Lol back dragging snow drifts! It’s done every where it snows!
Thank you very much! Much more fun than plowing parking lots

You should see it when being moved fast by a snow groomer
So badass, I can’t wait for this snow season working at the resort, can’t do it without you

Hard to beat a G or H model. Nice pretty cabs in the newer stuff, but for the importance of the work you are doing, simple and reliable is best.
