- If you're like me, sometimes exporting materials from Substance Painter into Blender can be kinda confusing, with the myriad of templates available in Painter, which one is the right one?! Well, fear not! Here's a mini tutorial on how to setup up textures from Substance Painter and view them real-time in Blender; the easy way!

I am tired of watching 15min tutorials to get 1min info. People like you who go straight to the point and don't lie in headlines are true gold. Subscribed.
You sir, are amazing! This was incredibly helpful and quick and to the point. THANK YOU!
I've noticed that I come back to this video from time to time when I am in the process of exporting textures to Blender. Thanks Thomas for the video, you make amazing stuff here, and on Artstation.
This was really quick, clear and extremely useful, thank you!
If you go into the settings of the node wrangler addon, you can specify which suffixes should be looked for and where they should be attached. I added the 'AO' tag to a channel I barely use. This way your ao gets importer as well, and you just have to connect it in the right way, but not import it. It's not perfect but it's a workaround that I find useful.
Good Job ! i struggled with it around 1 week afterward watching this tuto figured out many thanks !
One thing that caught my attention was including the Emission texture set. Was scratching my head for few seconds until I realized since there aren't any emissive materials, Substance Painter will not create a texture for it. I appreciate that you thought this through for cases where it might be needed!
Short, Sweet, To the point.
Love it.
Nice tutorial! The only thing that was making it harder to follow, was the tiny text of the nodes. It would help a lot if you could zoom in more often.
Duly noted! My bad!
Thankyou for this great tutorial! :D
Holy shit he posted again!!
Thank you pilgrim! 🔥🔥🔥
Also: there is a cycles export preset in SP.
Hello, I think you uploaded ao map manually in the video. When I chose it, it loaded all of them automatically. Is this due to the new version of blender?
I take this new skill for myself :)
Works perfectly thank you
Exactly what i need thanks
Awesome!
OMG Thank you so much! You saved my life
Big Pilgrim
Man you saved me by shortening that nightmarish SP long file name...
Is this still the way to do it? Or is it even faster these days to hook things up?
Thank you so much!
Niiice video bro
OMG THANK YOU
Big fan on your work Thomas - I was wondering if you could share how the movable water was created for the in game version of these props?
When adding that invert node, i don't get the option to add it, what gives?
Ah, apparently it was renamed to invert color? Aight.
Thanks
I do exactly the same as you did. How ever when i plug the AO the basecolour just gone everything just turn white.
it works the same for smart materials?
How do I export UDIM textures back to Blender? Or how do I apply two diffuse.pngs (created in Substance Painter 2023) back onto my Blender Object, in Blender? Thanks for any help with this.
I have no clue on that one. I haven't used udims before
i can't export, i's just stuck
Hi is there any chance u made a tuto how to warp tape on obj like your
ruclips.net/video/n5qaJBTYFNE/видео.html
It says all of the emission, roughness, etc it's all missing when exporting. Anyone know a fix?
if you don't have those channels in your shader enabled it wont export them.
@@ArtOfPilgrim I sent a message to your twitter. When you get a chance can you help? Thx.
are you able to help?
Hi! Any ideas why my textures cover the whole body of the character irregularly? It is like a combat uniform. I am stuck for days with it.
do you have mutliple uv's on the body? or is it one whole uv?
@@ArtOfPilgrim Whole UV!
@@bouakonstantina9986 Hmm okay. do you mind posting to my discord so i can check better? discord.gg/KA2xCZ8X
Hey thanks for the tutorial :) i am using maya and substance for texturing when i export it to Unity URP should i do the same?
Yeah, I don't think it changes depending on what 3d program you use. It'll work the same in unity 😊
@@ArtOfPilgrim i think so too but when i try to bake light it looks pretty off compared to sustance 😊
What preset are you using for export maps to Rust?
The same preset I used in the video! Exactly the same.
@@ArtOfPilgrim do you re-export from blender to unity?
@@tarkserbest513 yeah! I export using the fbx export option!
But because the Smoothness is in the Alpha of the metallic, you dont get the same roughness you get in SP
yes/its what i find
Crt + shift + t dont work on me
Same
