Thank you for your feedback on this machine. I have been looking at it for a while now. I currently have a Pfaff it’s great for piecing quilt tops but not much more than that.
Great summary of the machine, Kelly! I couldn’t agree with you more about the machine as well as Juki Junkies. I purchased my TL-18 from Juki Junkies, they were & are terrific! As for the TL-18, I own two other brand top of the line machines but the Juki has fast become my main machine. ~Melissa
Thank you, Kelly. I found your you tube channel Monday and have watched 3 videos so far. I wished I had found you a year ago when I returned to sewing and quilting. I love the way you teach. You are direct and to the point and make no assumptions about skill level. You demonstrate what you are doing, then give details and tips during a fast forward finishing the step. This allows me to absorb all the information: the physical demonstration and the tips.
Im so glad to have you here! Love that you are finding it helpful! I love getting to share my Sewing projects! Have you joined the FB group? Great group of quilters there too:) -Kelly
You are so welcome! Hope it helps. There are so many machines and it is a lot to look into. I dont pretend to know all there is, I can just say Ive been happy :) -Kelly
Going to a retreat that uses this machine I have only Babylock. I have to supply needs. I heard you say 80/12 needles. My question is can I use schmetz needles on this machine?
That is a great question! I dont typically sew garments.... Id call Juki Junkies an ask them. They have the most knowledgeable staff and are so very helpful!
I do both. I try to piece the whole quilt with the same thread, so typically I piece with the Cario Cotton (1/2 the price of Aurifil) and then swap to the Glide 40wt poly or 60wt poly. But you can totally piece with the Poly too. Im not sure why so many people are still scared of it. Its not as harsh as it used to be in say the 90s and will not 'tear' through your cotton fabric as in days of old. -Kelly
@@pickinstitches I think that the Polyphoria (scared of polyester thread) is a psychosis that needs treatment. I piece with 80wt Wonderfil Decobob which is as strong as 50wt. I also use it in bobbin and use it for quilting. I use Dove Gray which will now show up even on piecing blacks and blues because it is so fine. The Glide 60wt would also be a beautiful option. These finer threads will make your piecing lie flatter--particularly if you are sewing many-seamed blocks. I will NEVER go back to cotton thread.
Hi Kelly! Thanks for the add on the FB group. Just found your RUclips and have watched 10 episodes. Love the way you educate. Would also love for you to share more about your longarm learning journey. I was just gifted an older model Gammill and am looking for content on longarm machines. 🪡
Welcome aboard! So glad to have you! I'm still very new to the longarm, but if you haven't already, check out Stitched By Susan. She is amazing!! @stitchedbysusan -Kelly

Very good and thorough explanation of the features of this machine. Thank you
@annethevenot461 hope it was helpful!!
I had the tl2010 and then gave it to my granddaughter and now have the Janome 1600p. I wish I would have known about this Juki.
@@lynnleipold2617 how do you like the Janome? I haven't used one of those.

@@pickinstitches I like it. It’s a nice machine but I think I would trade it for yours except that I have the table that it fits in.
The table really makes a great addition- so many things about quilting are easier!
Kelly...great job with all the information...thanks ❤

I looking best sewing machine
I really enjoy this one, shes a work horse!

@@teresadonovan1980 just standard needles wirhbone flat side.
Would this be a good machine for garment sewing? The clearance of the needle is pretty high up?

I should say I have the same machine and love it! But I have not ventured into fmq.
Im going to be making a video on that shortly! You should give it a try. Something small and manageable to start. Its really fun!

When you switch the thread to the glide gray thread is that for piecing or free motion quilting?

You said up untl 2 months ago you used it for all your quilts. Why did you stop?
I purchased a used longarm. I still use it some but for the larger ones I use the longarm.
