I was prepared to see a usual review but this was so cinematic that I paused at 1 minute in, grabbed some pop corn and sat comfortably on my sofa to watch the rest of it.
Holy shit, I don't think I can do back to watching regular lens reviews again. Also, as a Voigtlander user, I completely agree-once you use a Voigtlander with the GH5, it's impossible to go back to those other lenses. I have quite a few, but never use them.
This is by far the best lens review video I've seen in my life. You have renewed my faith in our system. Now with the G9, I can feel the enjoyment growing up again. I'll consider adding a Voigtlander lens to my collection in the not so distant future.
Honestly, I JUST picked up a gh5, I don't really know anything about lenses or my camera in general, and yet this review CAPTIVATED me, it was absolutely amazing. The cinematic delivery was phenomenal. You will go so farm keep it up great stuff.
Wow!!! Brilliant!!! A fantastic lens! And congratulations for the incredible work! Video, editing, photos, audio ... all great! I just subscribed! I work with the 10.5 and 25mm and love the Noktone! Are my main lenses and with which I film 80% of the time! Lamentable as there are people wanting and predicting the end of the M43 system! Your work proves how this system is able to produce a fantastic material!
One small correction, I think it does have some slight competition in the sigma 56mm 1.4 and the Olympus 75mm 1.8 but obviously neither are super comparable to this.
Other people : make a classic review. This awesome dude : casually make a short film with great actors, story and set for you to see in situation. Legend.
I have to say, I agree with you about Voigtlander lenses for micro four thirds. They are superb for this system, giving a uniquely organic look to Panasonic footage, and even moreso to BMPCC and P4K footage. The manual focus 'feel' is almost sublime, maybe even better than vintage lenses from the 70s. I have the basic three, including 25, 17.5 and 42.5, and they all have the same level of damping in the focus rings. This makes manual focus across lenses a straightforward operation.
Since I first use a voigtlander on set I fell in love for those ones. Now I have the 10.5, the 17.5 and the 25 and my work drastically improved. They're the perfect match for the bmpcc4k and I'm dreaming with those 2 babes that I still didn't have that is the 42.5 and the 60 one. Your review is gorgeous and amazing. Fantastic job, bro
Amazing review, really touched on everything I could have wanted EXCEPT flare performance and more importantly the flare character. I think the flare is super interesting on these lenses and would have loved to see some examples
A-mazing , loved the film a lot, I feel very similar towards Voigländer and have them all except the 10,5mm with the GH-5 and am going to check the 60mm ASAP.
I couldn't find any other reviews, while I was hoping for some footage of the 60mm on a GH5. But I'm so happy I came across your video. Loved every second of it and it convinced me... I'll buy the 60mm and I will find another Voigtlander lens to complete my set, so I don't have to find another expensive Sigma Art lens to match my 18-35. Thanks a lot!
A few points from what I see in your video: - The sharpness wide open is more than good for such an extremely high-speed lens though of course, it shouldn't be compared with a few lenses in similar range such as the Olympus 75mm f1.8 or Olympus 45mm f1.2, both of which are optimized for AF convenience, wide aperture performance and size and weight rather than having the most extreme aperture. - The white balance in your test film looks perfectly spot on on my computer display but strangely the white balance in your second talking head shot looks visibly off. In all, an excellent, informative video. Thanks for posting.
Fantastic review. This is what lens reviews should be about - using the lens, showing the character of it. I love my Voigtlanders - only have the 17.5 and 42.5, but they serve my needs.
A beautiful and informative review that avoids the tedious clichés of other RUclips reviewers. Keep these coming and I'm sure you'll add two or three zeroes to your sub numbers.
I bought the first version of the 25mm f0.95 the same week it was first released. The only thing to improve is replacing the terrible Voigtländer lens cap with a Nikon one. I have loved that lens from the first minute I used it. It feels good in the hand, and the light gathering power opens up the night. 0.95 is far more usable on MFT than on full frame. The smaller format gives the extra depth of field that is needed while retaining the ability to see in moonlight. It produces pure poetry for me. This review conveys the same feeling that I have for the 25, and I am certain all of the rest of the Voigtländer MFT family has in every image and video they make.
Hell yeah! This was great, thank you. I have been drooling over this lens. We've shot my movie, Hell Van, with this family of lenses, minus the 60. I wished we had it from the start of production.
I don't comment much on RUclips, but just have praise how artistic this review was. I was hooked! Also, died laughing when your face appeared in the reflection of the lens on the rotating shot!
Truly inspirational and a classic piece of filmmaking. I absolutely admire the time and dedication you put into making this, it warms my heart truly. May I ask what lens you used for the intro and outro of this piece? I really like the look. If you can also share any overlays you used for the intro/outro, I would greatly appreciate to learn. Thank you for your time, Ryan
Chills dude, all over the body. It feels like I've just seen a documentary on Nat Geo. Take my subscription and my like. I wish I could give you more but that's all I can.
Fantastic video. Not exactly a technical review, but great that you showed the character of the lens which is most important. I hope sensor technology improves soon on micro four thirds so that at ISO 400 the grain in the images will improve substantially.
Really enjoyed this video. Refreshing, creative...bravo! I have the Voigtlander 25mmm and 17.5mm. They are lovely lenses. I think I will sell the 25 and try to get a 45 as they cover more ground for me. If I were richer i'd be tempted to get the lot!
This is great fun to watch. A love movie dedicated to lenses. I have to admit I have a love/hate-relationship with my Voigtländer 17.5mm lens: Love the images, hate the strain on my neck due to its weight (and yes, autofocus would be great). Your review makes me love my lens a bit more. Thanks for this, maybe I should consider the 60mm 🙂
Great review. Yeah there is really nothing equivalent to it on the market at this price point, even if you go to full frame. I have a Z6ii and I was thinking I must be able to easily beat the depth of field of my G9 + Voigtlander 60mm. Nope. The closest equivalent Nikon lens is the 135mm f2 dc, for $1400. The Voigtlander 60mm is now $749 new. Incredible value. The weight doesn’t bother me. If I want small and light for travel, I take my GX9 + 20mm f/1.7 (which everyone should own, it’s the sharpest lens available for the system).
I changed my FF camera for a G9 to get lighter gear, though efficient. I find all I need with Lumix and Olympus lenses. The 75 f/1.8 has all the qualities I'm looking for : Sharp, fast, lightweight, AF and relatively inexpensive. Photozone said : "The Olympus M.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8 ED is, by quite a margin, the best micro-four-thirds lens that we have tested to date. It is ultra-sharp straight from f/1.8 and in fact, it is basically diffraction-limited so stopping down doesn't really improve the image quality anymore". A F/0.95 lens gives it best around F/2 and has a very poor resolution wild open, so is it worth it to buy a heavy and expensive lens hardly usable under F/2 ? Nevertheless this lens has the merit to exist and might seduce some of us. Personally, I very glad to see that Sigma launches a range of DG DN Contemporary lenses for FF camera, light, high optical quality and very well built (the 65 is remarkable). I'll be able to look at the FF side again.
Great video! Not the typical boring review film. I use four MFT Noktons for photo and video. I will not buy this 60mm f0.95 because I have an adapted Nokton 58mm f1.4 that is fine for me.
you got for a subs in here. Interested on seeing more about Voigtlander and also MFT. GH5 user here, struggling decision on Sigma combo or Voigt combo.
Incredible review! I have the 25 and 10.5mm and I never film with other lenses, simply amazing lenses the Voigtlanders. Which of your VL lenses do you use the most?
I think you forgot about the Sigma 56mm f1.4, which is probably the closest in focal length. This lens is superb, I love vintage lenses and modern versions like this voigtlander is a great example. But i can hardly justify its existence for the given price (much like the rest of the nokton family), despite the impressive specs. Wide open is super soft, chromatic aberrations are everywhere, it's a manual focus lens. Yes, it is fun to shoot, but even that way doesn't justify it's price when you have the Sigma 50mm f1.4. And for a third of the price and just 1 stop darker, the sigma wins in every aspect possible: ultra sharp wide open, maybe one of the sharpest MFT lenses, fast, and autofocus.
I was prepared to see a usual review but this was so cinematic that I paused at 1 minute in, grabbed some pop corn and sat comfortably on my sofa to watch the rest of it.
Best thing I’ve seen in a while.
I don’t know the first thing about lenses but I still enjoyed the hell out of this. You’ve created the Top Gear of lens reviews.
Holy shit, I don't think I can do back to watching regular lens reviews again. Also, as a Voigtlander user, I completely agree-once you use a Voigtlander with the GH5, it's impossible to go back to those other lenses. I have quite a few, but never use them.
Dude.. This is the M4/3 channel I've been waiting for.. PLEASE do more content, we are out here!
The short film looked really top class
Wonderful work! Any thoughts on the new 29mm F0.8?
Holy shit, didnt expect to get goosebumps in a lens review!
Happy I could bring the frisson!
Congratulations, a beautiful piece of film.
This is by far the best lens review video I've seen in my life. You have renewed my faith in our system. Now with the G9, I can feel the enjoyment growing up again. I'll consider adding a Voigtlander lens to my collection in the not so distant future.
Thank you so much! I hope the ones I do in the future can stack up!
Best review in a long time. Beautiful done!
Honestly, I JUST picked up a gh5, I don't really know anything about lenses or my camera in general, and yet this review CAPTIVATED me, it was absolutely amazing. The cinematic delivery was phenomenal. You will go so farm keep it up great stuff.
Cosina are world class lens designers, I am not sure anyone else could make justice with the Voigtlander name as they have.
Great job, excellent review.
Very informative, thanks for allowing me to be part of it!!!!!!!
I used to shoot Sony and had a 35/1.4 Voigtlander, loved that lens. I REALLY want the 17.5/0.95, and this lens looks cool, too.
Wow!!! Brilliant!!! A fantastic lens! And congratulations for the incredible work! Video, editing, photos, audio ... all great! I just subscribed! I work with the 10.5 and 25mm and love the Noktone! Brilliant review Aaron, you are a true artist, hats off!
this was so nice to watch, super quality, enjoyed lots. Great writing, delivery, filming and editing!!!
Ok so that was one of the most beautifully shot lens reviews I have watched. Congrats. Subscribed.
One small correction, I think it does have some slight competition in the sigma 56mm 1.4 and the Olympus 75mm 1.8 but obviously neither are super comparable to this.
Douche Baggins it’s just another quirk in a super quirky lens.
Also if you have a speedbooster the $250 manual focus Samyang 85mm f/1.4 for FF becomes a 60mm f/0.99

A Masterpiece!
The lens also looks nice :)
This makes Phillips Blooms RUclips stuff look lazy. Excellent!
Truly a video made with love and passion . Respect from a longtime GH series user.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for a beautiful review. I own 17.5, 25, and 42.5 Voigtlanders and Simple tech reviews don’t do them justice.
They are fabulous lenses!
Thank you for your marvellous cinematographic review Mr. Arizpe!!! Just bought this lens after seeing your review. What a jewel!!! Que joya!!!
What a compliment! I'm glad it was of use to you.
This is unreal! Really well done!!
brooooooo, Stunning review video, loved the last shot too and the music choices. Talent, talent, talent!

Great review and reminds us of what this game is all about. Pure film making, thank you. Love my Voigtlanders

Damn, why am I just finding out about this lens half way through 2024?!?! The video footage made me gasp for air 😮 WOW
Wow. That was some top notch film work my friend. Great review. Probably the best lens review I’ve ever seen from start to finish. Thanks for this.

when a random lens review is better than most hollywood movies
Man, oh, man! Want has turned to Need. Mate, hats off to you and this killer piece!
The cinematography is simply stunning!

Superb review video! The 60 is the lens I am more interested in than any other. I have the 29 f0.8 and am always inspired when using it.
Glad it was helpful!

The intro was filmed on the 60mm. The talking head outtro was also the 60mm. The spinning lenses was my Leica 135mm F2.8
Best intro I’ve seen on RUclips!!! So good!
Glad you think so! Hopefully you'll like the new one just as much!
I don't even have a camera for this lens, I'm just buying one just becouse this video!!! It's amazing!!!
This is what I would call a cinematic review! Well done and thanks for your work.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review, thank you! I love Voigtlander the first lens I got for my GH2 back in 2012 was the original 25mm
Honestly in love with this lens. Amazing review, great video. You seem very wise.

I'm bought! You blew my mind!

I really love your review style bud. Just posted some GH6 stuff with the 29mm (forgive the plug). Considering this one as well!

You have blown my mind, sir!
This is seriously well done. Thank you for all the work you put into this video.
My pleasure!
stunning work, love it!
What an amazing experience. Great review. Looking forward to the next video. Hopefully about the 10.5 mm at some point?
Possibly! Had to get thru the 29mm first!
@@e-hfilms that 29mm video is really really cool!
Hey dude great review thanks for making this.
Hey buddy! Great video, love what you're doing here. Can you tell me where you get those gear rings?
This is amazing, thank you.
That's a pretty epic review! Love all my voigtlander glass
EPIC REVIEW!!! I wonder what you would make of the Tokina Vista 135 T1.5 (f1.2).
Incredible review! I have the 25 and 10.5mm and I never film with other lenses, simply amazing lenses the Voigtlanders. Which of your VL lenses do you use the most?

Man, loved it!
P.S. That turquoise color fill light on lenses gives such a good vintage vibe!
Well, I hope you like vintage, cause they 29mm review leaned super hard into it!
Great video! Curious, which do you find yourself using more, the 60 or 42.5? Thanks!
Its pretty even because other lenses have been keeping me from using either lately :D
@@e-hfilms oh, which other lenses?
This was not a review, it was a journey!
Beautiful review!

Great cinematic review 👍
