@@theowlfromduolingo7982 yes but often not visible on real 35mm film. Just when there are really bright highlights. On youtube some amateur colorist add them to everything (for example the sky). Normally they are just on reflections.
Once again great work. I really like the softness of the image. It really reminds me of how Vilmos Szigmond would "flash" film to achieve something similar. You are one of the only people who makes a genuine effort to light digital shots similar to film and I appreciate it.
Wow, man, such an impressive review. I appreciate the sample footage, your discussion about the operation of this combo, and the grading breakdown. Amazing job, and the result looks great.
These shots are beautiful. Wonderful location you selected! The crank is the right amount of jank. I got an old Som Berthiot Dmount lens for 8mm Bolex that my grandfather passed on. It has a lever for zooming in as well as a viewfinder in the lens - it's a lot of fun to use.
This is the best modern classic look I've ever seen. Everything about this was awesome! Both the film and the look were awesome. I felt like I was watching a lost western from the 1960s
Great film, well done! I own the Angies 25-100, 25-250 and 35-140. I love their film look and dislike zooming in films. I'm not a professional and there's no hand to assist me with the unwieldy 25-250 zoom.
Haven't seem the review yet, but I love it. Has the grittiness/rawness, right from a western (something that we are missing nowadays in movies... I see the trailer for Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon and it looks too polished/smooth for its own good). It has that feeling of Barry Lyndon too, especially with those zooms. Great work.
I've been watching westerns recently and noticed just how much fill light was used in the daytime compared to modern films. You've nailed that look - how did you approach lighting? I'm excited to eventually get one of these for the Techniscope look on a Blackmagic Production Camera 4K (little brother of the original Ursa 4K made in 2013 with global shutter and raw capability) - can't wait to do long crash zooms and slow zooms to closeups.
Yes, there is a ton of fill on the old westerns. This was mostly because of the low ASA of film. I believe that the majority of the spaghetti westerns were shot at ASA10. Required tons of light. My approach was to do the same. Use light to modify the shot instead of my camera and lens settings.
Do you think is it too much effort to use it blackmagic 4k with 2.6p crop for avoid black vignette? I am thinking about buying this lens because there is a well used 2nd hand in my town but i am not sure...
I think that if you are going to be purchasing this lens, you should absolutely try to use it first. Any seller shouldn't have a problem letting you throw it on your camera first. Good luck!
amazing video. watched it twice. Im thinking about putting this on an arri alexa classic. the problem i am facing is that it doesn't have internal ND... could you recommend a solution thats not too expensive (lol)
Man, I wish I had a good answer for you, but the reality is, this is a tricky lens. If I was staring down the same barrel you are, I would look into a clip on matte box for your ND's and then find a way to modify a french flag on a gooseneck to whatever rail system you are using. Good Luck!
Hi! Thank you a lot! This review is fantastic. I know 25-250 for a long time. I love it! For some reasons I m looking to get it. But thanks you a lot!! Because now I know one more camera. I wanted to ask you couple of questions. 1st - what is the difference between 25-250 like your then 25-250 HR? 2st - what can you say about rolling shutter in that camera? How do you think, is it worse or better then I BMCC 6k pro? or Alexa? 3st - maybe the most tricky question. Can you check you DMs? please =)) Again and again huge thank you for that review!
Congratulations, gorgeous film and brilliant review. I have one of these lens my self, although I have yet to put it through its paces. You just gave me an I idea actually... 😉😊
You are killing it everytime! The cinematography, the look, the storytelling, the information just perfect every time!
thank you!!
Its so impressive how you emulate these old classic western movies. This is real film emulation, without these cheap halations!
Glad you liked it! Really happy that I was able to get that look.
Yes a color grading breakdown would be interesting. But halations - if dine correctly - are somewhat part of the film look

@@theowlfromduolingo7982 There is a grading breakdown for one of the scenes!
What a film. I stumbled across this link on reddit. Crazyy
Thank you!
dude WTFFFFFFFFF this is so good and in depth. You and Media Division are my favorite cinema deep dive channels now.
Keep making videos, a gem to your community.
Thank you so much for the support!

I'm glad you appreciate the effort! The pleasure is mine.

Incredible work, mate. I come for the film and stay for the review.
Much appreciated!

What film emulation lut did you use?

You nailed the look! Nice work. I love these lenses.
this looks so incredible i had to search my like history to find this again because i kept thinking about it.
Awesome stuff! Informative and entertaining!
Glad you enjoyed it!
howwwwwww, this is x9999999 better than majority of the hollywood's big budget. THIS IS INSANE!!!!
so excited to see this, its been a while since you have uploaded
Yes it has! Work is harder to come by these days and I've needed to make sure that i'm putting myself first, but glad to be back!
This is soo good man, alway a fan since your review with Voigtlander!
Thanks for sticking around!!

Wow, thank you so much for the compliment. Exactly the look I was going for!
Awesome review. Thank you for this.
Love your style brother, very informative and inspirational to say the least.
Thank you so much! Worked hard to make this one as digestible as possible :)
Man this is amazing, I hate the focus breathing on this lens but everything else about it is just awesome!
Amazing!!
Thanks!!
tempting me to use a zoom more for narrative instead of anamorphic.....
You absolutely should give it a shot if the film calls for it!

Hi! Is this the s35 version of the angenieux 12-120 mm?
as far as I know, it is a true 25-250mm, tho, it was used on a super35 sensor.
