Defense wins the big games. Florida stifled NY enough to prevent more than 25 or so shots on Bobrovsky and Shesterkin had a fair amount of work to do this entire series but especially the last four games (even the last NY win) So now NY gets to find out what they can fetch for Kakko (obviously not part of their plans) and which vets have done their best but aren't going to get them to where they want to be.
Except they can't afford both Reinhart and Montour extensions and Tarasenko will be let go. They should trade Knight and give Stolarz a 4x2 contract or something like that
I think the "Presidents' Trophy curse" should only apply to teams that get knocked out before the conference finals. Especially if the team wins at least 2 games in said conference finals.

@NHLCrazy2007 your name checks out because your name is Crazy, and so are your takes. Carolina is a good team and that series went about how everyone thought it would. Panthers played a playoff game from start to finish for the first time in this series. I go back to game 2 and can't figure out why they refused to try to score at all when it was tied. Igor was great. Igor also took a few cheap shots in the series. That chant was a response to be his hits on Panthers, not just that one on Rodriguez that night. Its part of the game, its part of the playoffs. Also noticed there was a lack of NY Rangers fan at game 6. Suddenly they stopped buying up all the tickets when they realized it was over. Glad the Panthers won. Even more glad they took out Boston and NY. Panthers didn't do too much pushing and shoving against the Rangers. I think they didn't want to get them excited and they respect them more then Tampa or Boston. At least it wasn't an Eastern Conference sweep like last year.
What is funny is that this narrative has been going on for many years now, yet before the 2022 Avs (then the Knights did it in 2023) the 2004 Lightning were the only team since the presidents trophy was introduced in 1986 to win the Stanley Cup as the first place team in the opposite conference of the Presidents trophy winner. On the other hand, the 87 Oilers, 89 Flames, 94 Rangers, 99 Stars, 01 Avs, 02 and 08 Wings, and 13 Blackhawks all won cups with the presidents trophy. Why was no one talking about the “1st place but not the presidents trophy” curse 🤔
@@BasementBodybuildingJust based on the eye test it seems to be the 2nd seed. Just off the top of my head since the lockout there was the 06 Canes, 07 Ducks, 10 Hawks, 16 Penguins, 17 Penguins, and 20 Lightning. With the 09 Wings and 19 Bruins being 2nd seeds with one win away.

The better team won. Having the size and talent Florida brought consistent physicality to every play making those Ranger stretch passes become one and done.
Don’t get me wrong, a win is a win but the whole 7-0 start was kinda overblown considering their first series was against a team that had absolutely no business being in the playoffs.
The second Florida scored the first goal I never felt at any point the Rangers had a chance to win. Truthfully, without Shesterkin, they would've been swept. Great for Florida and the Cats' fans and the rejuvenation of this formally moribund franchise.
Panthers played great the two things to think of are their shot volume which presents a bad matchup for the oilers if oilers make it but cats have a bad finals history they got waxed by the Avs in 96 and Vegas last year

It was the same in game 5 when they got the late goal. Everyone just looked worn out.
@@negtype13 Give the Panthers some credit... Their play can wear any team down.
im glad he addressed the ref getting a puck to the nut, shit was hilarious because the Florida player made a face indicating he knew exactly what happened.
Nah looked like inside of the thigh which hurts like hell
@@LizardSkin it was close, if dude was hanging to the right it could have clipped the head. still, did you see the Florida players face in the replay, he was like "ooohhhh fuck i hit him in the nuts"
Erod’s face was priceless.
That looked like hell.
I was close! Not sure it hit him in the nads, but it obviously hurt!
Trouba is just bad. He needs to watch all 82 games of Forsling this year to learn how to actually play defense. He'd rather attempt to elbow guys than play tho. Also I was half joking, and nothing on Igor cuz he was great, but part of me wonders if the Rags should've started Quick one of these last 2 games to see if the team ACTUALLY responded. They literally looked lifeless all series. Zero heart other than Igor and occasionally Laf and Trocheck. Mika was a no-show, Panarin is too soft for the playoffs, and Kreider was invisible other than his shorty in game 5.
I think Florida will win the final.
So as a Rangers fan I can't believe that yet again I watched this team blow a great performance from their star goalie again. As it turns out if you don't bother to show up until the final few minutes of the game you aren't going to win? Who knew? ...Well the Rangers offense apparently.
Full credit to Florida they deserved to win, good luck to them in the Final.
Imagine telling NHL fans a few years ago Florida would win the Presidents’ Trophy and go to the SCF twice in a three year period. The fanbase deserves this.
Been waiting a loooongtime for this
As always, so much appreciate the post game color and analysis Shannon.
Florida dominated the game.
The final series should be a good one. The keys for Florida are keeping up their compete intensity and not being too banged up.
It is the playoffs no need for penalties.
This is espn's worst nightmare scenario
Purposely sailed the seven seas to get a Sportsnet feed. Worthwhile effort to avoid those cheerleaders 😅🦜🏴☠️
@@jma.87 it was such a great way to watch an actual hockey game. No stupid ass references to 1994 , no clear jerking off of Ranger players just pure hockey context . Called right down the middle.
I have strong feeling the Panthers win the Cup, they have the air of the Golden Knights about them from last season. Not letting anything faze them!
As much as the Igor chants were about him smacking Rodrigues, they were probably more mocking the Rangers' fans.
correct.
I thought it was disrespectful to a great goaltender. But that's just me.
@@bp7057 I loved through Broduer and Lundqvist battling. The MARTYYYYY chants and HENRIIIIIQ chants. Both goalies were fantastic. Fans gonna fan ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yes, AND for the Rangers fans totally disrespecting the national anthem (every time they’re in our house) always yelling their team; to disrupt the anthem, this was classless.
I’m a Panthers fan originally from NY,
That was Embarrassing for the Blue jerseys.
@@robertcannellos6880 I am a rangers fan and it is very annoying. Just shouting let’s go rangers over and over again throughout the entire anthem. Can barely hear the singer at MSG.
Fun series minus the Trouba stuff. Which is pretty par for the course for the playoffs.
Gustav Forsling with another fantastic under the radar game.
Same shit different year can't wait to have my heart broken again next year!
"Did they win a Stanley Cup? Then it doesn't matter." - Igor Shasterkin
Tampa has scored 14 goals in 5 games against Florida, with three more pucks not counting against them. How many goals could the Rangers score? These two Florida-Tampa and Florida-Rangers series are like heaven and earth! On every line except the goaltenders
LFG PANTHERS!!!! This was honestly the most beautiful game the Panthers ever played. Shesterkin is an amazing goalie, and if it wasn't for him, I think this series would have ended in a sweep. I'm so happy.
LETS GO CATS!!! Thanks Shannon for yet another great video!
The jinxing of the Oilers is strong in this one.
This review needs more Oilers jinxing and less talk about panthers.
At this point, Minnesota should give their "state of hockey" title to Florida.
Something to be said for nice weather and no income tax. Its almost like people want to be in that State

Mark Messier Leadership Award to buyout? That would be a moment.
The panthers just cruised to a clinching victory. They are both that good and new york was that helpless. They’re locked and loaded for redemption in the SCF. Rangers fans you just ran into a good team thats all there is to it. Go panthers from a lightning fan
Nothing but respect to Florida. That being said rangers have cemented their reputation as playoff chokers. It’s an every year thing at this point. They got completely shut down went it mattered most just like they did the last 2 postseasons.
@@Xstrangis yes did not see much fight from them honestly. Head scratcher for everyone who isn’t a rags fan I guess lol.
@@Xstrangis I'm definitely no ranger fan, but I don't think it's choking when they lose to a better team. the only reason the series was as close as it was, it's because of their goalie. Otherwise, this is a sweep.

Florida's winning the Cup. I just don't see them losing against Edmonton or Dallas.
Did you see Florida coming back from down 3-1 to Boston last year? Trying to gauge the value of you not seeing something happening.
Maybe you will have an eye opening experience.
I think Dallas could make it interesting.
When Edmonton is at their best they can beat anyone.
Panarin is an excellent talent bring him to dallas we need his type of shot
He will disappear in the playoffs
Trying to jinx the oilers
Florida used to be a team that could barely even reach the 2nd round and now have back to back Finals

The Cats and Rats Squad are ONCE AGAIN Eastern Conference champions!
Can they win their first cup in franchise history this year? We’ll see.
Enjoy this, Cats fans! 🎉👏🏻
So, the Cats eat another team of Rats, is that the idea of the rain of plastic rats?
@@not2tees Honestly, that’s pretty clever. Never thought of it in that way LOL.
I love this damn team. Luostarinen so underrated… Forsling amazing again tonight. This team plays better every period. I really hope they take Stanley home this year. Let’s go Cats, this has got to be your year.
Luostarinen battled it up on the boards to keep the puck, passed it to Lundell, who ended up passing to Tarasenko for the goal. Also, honestly... shout out to Ekblad. He played very, very well tonight, almost as if he was close to his former self.
@@choppergunner8650 such a gritty play and a beautiful pass to Tarasenko. Every player seems bought in.

@@casewojo6186 real. He's such a good player, was beginning to get worried he wasn't showing up.
Defense wins the big games. Florida stifled NY enough to prevent more than 25 or so shots on Bobrovsky and Shesterkin had a fair amount of work to do this entire series but especially the last four games (even the last NY win)
So now NY gets to find out what they can fetch for Kakko (obviously not part of their plans) and which vets have done their best but aren't going to get them to where they want to be.
Panthers will be competitive for years to come. Young team in great financial position.
Igor was the only reason nyr got 2 wins at all....
Perhaps a igor was the only reason nyr even made it to the ecf.
The New York Rangers are complete disgrace for a professional sports franchise, not just the National Hockey League.
Not complete. Just a whole lot of them and their fans.
I mean, your name checks out with that comment, but please tell me how making it to a conference final and losing is a "disgrace?"
@@maxfish4270 I'm talking about their insane futility and ineptitude. This is just another embarrassing playoff exit for the franchise. Period.
@@csolivais1979 Excuse me? What does me have to do with anything? And yes, their postseason falling apart is a disgrace. Nearly blew a 3-0 series lead to Carolina and then this piss poor performance against a team they were more than capable of defeating. I do not give a shit what the pundits say about Florida.
@NHLCrazy2007 your name checks out because your name is Crazy, and so are your takes. Carolina is a good team and that series went about how everyone thought it would. If before it started you were told the Rangers would win in 6, no one would of bated an eye at that. I don't care what the pundits say about Florida either, but 2 straight cup finals appearances tells me that they are a pretty good team. And it's not like they got swept. Every game was close, and a bounce here or there and the Rangers win.
Announcer actually said tonight, "If the Panthers win tonight, they win the Cup. Because neither the Stars or the Oilers can beat them in a 7-game series.
Panthers play a lot like 2011 Bruins. They win faceoffs and fore check like hell. Good defenseman and great goaltending.
Florida did what Florida needed to do. Took an extra game to advance. They are winning the cup.
As a Winnipeg fan I’m very happy for Maurice and the panthers
"President's Cup curse"
Such a dumb narrative - top 5 teams in the league were all separated by 4 points.
Dumb or not, it’s a narrative. I actually like it, too. Shows how competitive this beautiful league is.
I wonder what seed wins the cup most often…
Blackhawks last team to win the Pres Trophy and lift the Cup. Also, the last Original 6 team to do it as well.
Would have been a 4-0 without Shesterkin. Panthers looked like a completely dominant team 2/3 periods each game. They’ve been the best team in the league for a few years now.
I'm still thinking that Florida will be hoisting the cup. That being said, I'm hopeful that both teams are relatively healthy for a long cup series.
I'm proud of the guys for dumping the rangers out of the playoffs on their home ice. Well deserved and earned victory.
Hopefully Dallas can rid the world of the oilers. Dallas vs Florida would be the best cup battle in years. Two absolute demons in net, scrapping for every puck.... 🤘🤙 we need this.
Every game for the Rangers was winnable, they couldn’t execute, congrats to the Panthers for winning back to back conference championships.
Lindell getting an assist in a game he didn't play, so talented 👏
New York are like the Leafs. Their stars disappeared in the playoffs. Zibanijad, Krieder, Trochek and Panarin were ineffective.
Great job Florida. If Oilers don't win it all, I definitely don't mind seeing Florida win. Or Dallas for that matter.
The better team won. Having the size and talent Florida brought consistent physicality to every play making those Ranger stretch passes become one and done.
Rangers got too comfortable after playing caps and canes. Couldn’t beat the cats 😎
Don’t get me wrong, a win is a win but the whole 7-0 start was kinda overblown considering their first series was against a team that had absolutely no business being in the playoffs.
@@sayhello2heaven_ and their second series was against the most disappointing playoff team since the Sharks.
@@SpergerKing the bruins? Lmao
The second Florida scored the first goal I never felt at any point the Rangers had a chance to win. Truthfully, without Shesterkin, they would've been swept. Great for Florida and the Cats' fans and the rejuvenation of this formally moribund franchise.
The Rangers will be proud of their season eventually. Outstanding season even without a cup..
Panthers played great the two things to think of are their shot volume which presents a bad matchup for the oilers if oilers make it but cats have a bad finals history they got waxed by the Avs in 96 and Vegas last year
