Barkov was a monster tonight. He had a fantastic sequence on the PK where he was on Draisaitl and hounded him to the point where he fell back to the blueline, and eventually left the zone to regroup because he had nowhere else to go. Absolutely tenacious defense, and it's plays like that which illustrate the difference that a Selke winner can bring to the table.

Since 1948 there have been 7 shutouts to open a Stanley cup final series.
The results? 5 of the 6 teams went on to win the cup finals. (Current series in progress)
    1983 - Islanders swept Oilers
1984 - Oilers Wins in 5 over Isles
2001 - Avs win in 7 over Devils
2003 - Devils win in 7 over Anaheim
2008 - Red Wings win in 6 over Pens
Roberto Luongo is the only goalie (so far) on this list to open a Cup Final with a shutout and lose (7 games)
Bobrovsky and the Panthers are hoping to join the other 5 teams and not the Canucks

Two main reasons why Florida won tonight.
    1. Bobrovsky standing on his head, again.
    2. Coach Knoblauch going back to a Nurse and Ceci pairing despite breaking them up before because they weren't working well together and according to some commenters here, blame goes to Nurse more.

    • @gregorydefrances5336

    • @paulgarcia9181

Well the Florida PK did well, the forecheck was great and gave them opportunities to capitalize on, I mean the Oilers power play % was almost 40 going into this series, Barkov played Mcdavid well, and Florida won faceoffs and doubled numbers in the hit department. While Bobby Shmurda did amazing, Florida still had to score 3 goals and keep enough pressure for a shut out.
