Draisaitl elbowing Barkov (Lady Byng winner, 24 PIMs this season, 148 in his entire career) has to be one of the most cowardly hits of the year.
The Oilers have gone 214 minutes and 41 seconds without a 5v5 goal.
Yet they can't go 214 milliseconds without trying to whack someone in the nuts or knock their head off.
No way that much in game time? How many games back does that go?
@@CharmingCJ game 5 vs Dallas. Every goal since then has been a power play goal or 4 on 4
At least Bouchard got 2 assists tonight. Too bad one of them was for the Panthers.
Don't think there is a 5-5 goal against the Panthers since game 4 in ECF.
For anyone watching the ABC broadcast, did you hear how godly and other worldly McDavid is, or EMD PP and PK. If you didn't, don't worry. Ray Ferraro will let you know every 30 seconds.
For all that hype, Edmonton played small tonight.
McDavid don’t look so mighty after all
Haha!! I heard Ferraro get started and I’m muted for two minutes. I unmuted and he was still glazing. Unbelievable
… all while the guy looked like he didn’t even play.
It's funny people complain about commentary....its easy to hit mute and play music...unless you can't follow the play and need someone to tell you what's going on?😅
@@kindrin4773 for the record, my comment is solely on the general hype of Edmonton’s star players.
I can care less about the commentary as a whole.
I don’t have problems with hard hockey. I do however have problems with cheap shots because you’re getting beat down
Then you should cheer for another team.

Once Rodrigues scored his second goal the Sportsnet broadcasters sounded depressed.
They suck. Totally sold to the boilers
You should have seen the post game show. Sportsnet guys all whining about the calls and even questioning if Drais hit on Barkov was even a penalty. Even funnier because NOW they are saying "they don't want the refs to be a part of the game with all of these penalty calls."
I was listening to the oilers radio broadcast on RUclips. Sounded like I was listening to some random streamers in Edmonton. Never heard homers like that on a professional broadcast lol
They HATE the Panthers they seem like hockey purists so to them probably this is still a poverty franchise lighting up the historic teams they love to see win like Boston, NY and now Edmonton etc. But yeah it’s so clear when with certain guys their tone changes once things swing Cats way
Rodriguez has a punchable face
That was a predatory hit on Barkov. Draisaitl left his skates. Should be a suspension, but the league has no guts to do it.
Shouldn’t have even been 2 mins
Yeah Divesaitl should have gotten 5 for that. He should totally be suspended
Agreed. He definitely deserves the next game off for that.
@@badbutbois You have no idea. Careful you don't choke on McDavid's shaft.
That’s clearly not just a 2 min penalty
That’s 100% a major and a match penalty
Should be suspended but this is the NHL. Their brains are smaller than Edmonton’s
This game should be a reminder for all the people who after Game 1 thought that Panthers looked vulnerable and the Oilers just needed to get past Bob to win, that Game 1 was an outlier in terms of the Panthers' performance. They play slow after a long break, see Game 1 vs Boston.
Now they're back to their bread and butter of wearing down the opposing team and controlling the game.
This was only 50% effort by the panthers they save 100% for the road
They are an amazing Team... Wouldnt believe it, but y'all were right
Hopefully Barkov can play.
Wow, really impressed with the replies here so far. Usually it's a good comment followed by a train wreck of replies underneath all over the place with the logic.
@@windsolarupnorth7084 I will be upset if he can't. The team will be upset and will probably even come back stronger to avenge him. But we do have the depth to handle it if that happens.
I wonder how much more outrage there would be if it was Bennett or Tkachuk who threw that hit, instead of Draisaitl...
They'd probably be suspended for the series lol

It's just an elbow..grow up
Barkov ain’t the kinda guy to go down on a soft hit and then stay out the rest of the game. Thats clown nonsense if you’re a hockey fan and you see that and you think that’s what happened.
Oilers fans saying “it’s clean” are hilarious. I’ve never seen a more obvious headshot. Game time speed it just looks like a penalty, but on replay it’s literally Draisaitl gliding in then jumping to make contact on Barkov head.
Draisaitl's been a dirty player for years. Glad people are noticing now.
@@nicholaslouie7590 I've seen Oilers fans defending pretty much every scummy play they've made by saying it's clean, but then turn around and call out everything as "crosschecking" against them. It's hilariously sad.
Embarrassing performance from Edmonton tonight. So many lazy/straight up bad plays, super undisciplined all around. Panthers are no saints, but targeting Barkov is just going to add fuel to a fire they can't contain. Multiple phantom calls, and still anemic on the PP too. Fat lady ain't singing yet, but we can hear her warming up.
The dumb hockey by the Oilers shows there inexperience at the highest level(Cup Final).
Kill Oil. Avenge Nuck. For Pavel & Luongo. Cats to Lord Stanley. Sunrise take her home

Which Oiler? 😂 @@KevinBrevin
This loss was definitely not on Skinner
Skinner is definitely allowing a goal or two you'd like back but doesn't really matter if your team cant score a goal period.
Didn't help either. He's consistently unable to make the save his team needs the most, you can see it on the face of every Oilers player on the bench.
@@JH-hh5jm If the Oilers are unable to score more than one goal, Skinner's gonna have to save every shot, and that's a bit much to ask. He's good, but he's not getting a shutout every night.
@@st0rmchild By NHL playoff caliber goalie standards, he's not good. His numbers have been absolutely terrible from the get go. He doesn't make clutch saves at key moments. He's allowed goals on the first shot of the game 4 times now (or is it 5?) in this playoffs alone, and goals on the first shot of periods more like 6-8 times. His numbers have looked good on the occasional night where the Oilers hold the opponent to 20 or less shots, and even then its a coin toss with how easily rattled he seems to be.
Skinner may at some point become a respectable NHL caliber goalie, he's still early in his career. But as it stands now he's simply a liability between the pipes.
@@JH-hh5jmWell said JH
That elbow to the face of Barkov should be a suspension. But the league won't take away McJesus sidekick. If anyone did that to McJesus they would get 20 games.
Yeah I thought him leaving the ice was worse than the knee on knee hit but no action will happen
The choke on Bouchard?
Yes! That should have been five and game.
That was so soft man if that’s on mcdavid the way it’s been called that’s not a penalty
@@badbutboislol you’re either a young kid oilers fan who can’t recognize their own bias or you’re just immune to cognitive dissonance. I’m not a Panthers or Oilers fan, no dog in this fight-it’s _absurd_ to suggest that launching an elbow into McDavid’s face wouldn’t at *least* get a minor
Before this series started, some were saying that if you're doubting the Oilers, you haven't watched enough of their games. It came across as being naive towards the Panthers, and that feeling has only grown 2 games in.
I was thinking I was blind towards the Oilers, my head said they had to be better than I felt. But still I felt that series would be short. After first game I was like, man they should've won that to make it interesting. Now I just feel justified that I thought this was going to be one sided towards the Panthers. But it's just game 2. Guess we will see the true nature of the Oilers in 3 days.
This is a pretty goofy comment. You can say not to doubt both teams in a series without being naive when one of the teams inevitably wins.
He was saying not to count them out, not that they’re absolutely going to win.
All the sportsbooks and most analysts predicted Panthers to win this series, so not really sure what your point is.
Hockey is a notoriously inconsistent sport regarding the outcome of any individual game. Game 1 with 32-17 shots and a 2-0 outcome is a good example of this point. I don't think anyone's surprised to see the series at 2-0, though it wouldn't be surprising to see it at 1-1 either. Just how it goes with a low margin sport, and Edmonton is absolutely capable of winning games against any team in this league, even if the series was Panthers favoured going into it.
Right on. Watched every single Oiler playoff game and watched every single Panther playoff game. I did not feel like Edmonton was going to win the series but thought it would go 6 games. Still might but seems more like a 5 game series now. Edmonton will take one at home.
Even the great Oilers of the 80s lost on their first trip to the Final. Panthers lost theirs too. Nothing to be ashamed of, been a great year of Oilers hockey!
I honestly didn't care who won this series. I picked the Panthers in a bracket I've been doing with my family. Just for fun, no money. I also do really like Bob. After the Draisaitl hit on Barkov though? I was all in on them getting a PP goal and winning the game. Such a dirty hit.
Hope Barkov is alright. Hes so important.

I’m a Florida fan, but this series isn’t over yet. One game at a time
Is it safe to say the Oilers had an easy road to the finals? Kings don't really have a goalie and the PLD is so useless. Canucks didn't have Demko, Petterrson with a bad knee and Boeser didn't play game 7 because of blood clots. Stars came off of beating 2 of the toughest teams in Knights and Avs.
100% I've said this and it's true.
I don't think that's safe to say at all. Stars were playing great hockey and had more rest heading into the series. Plus the Stars finished with the 2nd best record in the league this year, 3 pts ahead of Florida, 1 behind NYR.
If anything, Florida can thank the Canucks for helping them win the cup this year too. The 'Nucks play hard and physical, and that's where most the oil's playoff fatigue set in imo
@@lilpigboy makes sense
The Stars fortunes really turned after Tanev injury. Even when he came back, he was nowhere near 100%.
That's exactly what happened. Dallas beat 2 great teams and finally felt the fatigue from it. Oilers played the JV Western Conference schedule. There is no way Oilers make it to the SC playing Dallas's schedule.

@@busfeet2080I agree and except for the force behind that hit nothing too much says concussion. His head didn’t whip super fast and he didn’t bang his head on the ice. Also it looked like he was mainly holding his jaw for most of that and seemed to look better once he got up. I’m guessing with the lead they had it wasn’t worth risking throwing a bubble on immediately and sending him back out. Hopefully he’s in for game 3 or the nhl has some explaining to do if Drai isn’t suspended.
The league should suspend driasitl if Barkov is out for any amount of time
Rodrigues has 3 times as many goals as Edmonton in this series. I dont know if defense or goaltending is their biggest problem.
Neither, it's depth. They just rely too much on their top guys and when they get shut down, you can't expect to zero out to opponents every night. Especially when they can control the puck more than you can.

I mentioned to Yvonne in the third that Dallas would probably have been a better match up for Florida than the Oilers are.
It was both by luck (Canucks/Avs situation) and the Dallas just showing utter disgraceful play. The West was truly cursed this year. As a Panthers fan, I was most worried about the Avs, Knights, and Canucks.
I don't think it's fair to say they snuck in. But it is fair to say Dallas has a better matchup against the Panthers than Edmonton. Matchups in sports can be like that.
Oilers were lucky to get by Vancouver who gave their C to B effort at best with their Vezina calibre goalie out and AHL goalie in. Not to mention their top scorer out in game 7 due to a non game related health issue. Now that is LUCK!
Isn't "leaving your feet from the ice" during aa play such as Draisitals constitute a 5 minutes and match penalty? Or did the rules change? I feel he did and targeted the head and should be reviewed as at least a suspension... Clarity please???

I like higher scoring games, however I can't help but admire the game that Florida plays. Don't know if they can make another run for it next year, but right now, they are in a groove.
The only potential downfall for next year is that they have to sign about half of the team's contracts this summer. So that can present an obstacle to being strong enough for another cup run.

The Oilers fans should be embarrassed for how dirty your team is playing. I should be happy tonight. All I am is pissed for the ridiculousness im seeing from the Oilers.
Why should we? It’s not like we are the one playing the game, blame the players not the fan wtf
@@Sayakawill I hope you're pissed about how they are representing you all.
@@dennislopez1272panthers arent dirty? Whats the choke hold on bouchard for? Whats the knee contact on bouchard for by bennett. Yes the oilers have made dirty plays but so have the panthers
@@pkm_1256 Gimme a break. I see you're proud of your boys.
Oilers are cooked. Any hockey player sees the frustration that would lead to that type of penalty. They can’t keep up or compete and they know it
The Oilers didn't let in the first shot of the game and scored a goal, so there's some progression, but Florida also played a much stronger game and didn't need their goalie to win the game for them. I'd like to say that I'd be shocked if Draisaitl doesn't get suspended for that elbow to the head he jumped into, but nothing surprises me from Player Safety.
That Barkov hit was a target by dreiseitl. He left his feet and threw a flying elbow into his face! That's a concussion all day long, I'll be very surprised if it isn't. I hope it isn't... Dirty, malicious non-hockey play. Two minute minor my arse! Not only should that have been an ejection, but it should be a suspension.
4-1 cats victory (deservedly). Now take two in Edmonton and show them what Karma looks like!
Remember when leaving your feet was charging a few weeks ago? Weird.
Pepperidge farm remembers
Guess you forgot about the EMD super star exception to that rule.
Remember when leaving your feet only happened with a double amputation? Such a stupid phrase.
I’m just hoping Barkov is okay!!
I wonder if the league will suspend Leon.
Mental gymnastic of player safety will be interesting to see if he is not.
@@teapea8184 They probably won't even comment on it.
They're gunna give foegle a series ban to make everyone happy. They won't punish draisitl.
They won’t suspend their Golden boys sidekick, even that insanely obvious and intentional intent injure hit
Keep doing what you’re doing THG!
It's funny how when a team gets up two nothing in the Stanley Cup final you would think that they are likely to win the cup after witnessing 2011 as a canucks fan i really dont put faith in being up 2-0
True 😂
Only 5 teams have come back from down 2 games to 0 to win the Cup since the league went to a best of 7.
Fla isn't the 2011 nucks .much healthier . Also not like vs vegas Last year as far as health either
Evan Rodrigues is the Barclay Goodrow of the Florida Panthers. Can play up and down the lineup, hot or cold player, can score some big playoff goals
Goodrow plays good defense...
Panthers are just grinding the h3ll out of the Oilers all over the ice, which is something they weren't even close to facing against the 3 West teams they beat.
Barkov will have a couple of days to rest so hopefully he’ll be alright by Game 3 but even then though that’ll be more motivation for the Panthers to keep on fight for their captain so go Panthers! ^^
Wow, you got this out quick!
Oilers a bunch of goons
LOL vs the biggest goons in the league, get a little back and cry like babies, just love all the brand new florida fans this year, almost as bad as nucks fans
@@jamess1021 settle down pipsqueak
I noticed during the Vancouver series just how dirty the Oilers are. They're the Western Conference equivalent of the Bruins, dirty cheap shots at every opportunity.
Boston isn't a dirty team. Were they at one point? Yes, but they aren't now.
@TheHockeyGuy you must not have really watched the series against Florida because as soon as they got down by a couple goals, they stopped playing hockey and turned the game into a UFC event. C'mon
LOL, sure they did. DeBrusk was swinging his stick at everyone's head, McAvoy came out dressed like Mad Max and Swayman flew off a Tarzan rope onto Bobrovsky at the other end. It's a miracle no one was seriously hurt.
@@TheHockeyGuy spoken like a bruins fan alright
Of course. Boston starts every game with a vicious two handed swing to the head of an opponent on the opening faceoff. After that, they take turns with submarine hits and two handed sting swinging for the back of every knee they can get close to. Boston then sing a sea shanty at center ice before the entire team heads to the penalty box. With the entire team in the box, Jim Montgomery is forced to play every position and manages to save 25 shots in two minutes without any actual goalie gear. With the team released from the penalty box, they then deliver "two for flinching" to their crying opponents for the rest of the game. They also do this to the referees who are too scared to call anything after that.
SUSPEND DRAISAITL!! CATS IN 4!!!
The additional views of that elbow shows how bad it really was. Drai is a good 4-6 inches off the ground to deliver one to the face.
Oilers fan here, honestly after the first game I knew we weren’t winning this series. Congrats Florida, you guys have played really good.
I would say the opposite for me the first game they produced scoring opportunities , here they got rolled and it really made a statement
Absolutely crazy the best offense in the league has scored 1 goal in two games, and from a defenseman to boot.
anyone else get that vibe like the 2020 playoffs with montreal and tampa. It just feels one team doesnt belong where they are.
Like, ahem, a cat playing with a mouse?
not exactly the same, edmonton outplayed florida in game 1
Nice seeing the Oilers looking frustrated and lost. While trying to figure out on how to score on Bob. Who gone Beast Mode full on.
And the cupless drought for Canadian teams continues
Leon leaps up off the ice with that elbow. If it were any player besides him or mcdavid a game suspension would happen. Im not expecting much.
Florida is just hungrier. they lost the cup last year and they turned that pain into success and that's how you learn what it takes to win the cup.
oilers are just here to learn that pain.
Exactly. People talk about Florida choking last year, which I don't think is fair considering the significant injuries they had. Well, I think this year people are going to be talking about Edmonton choking. Now I think Florida is just the better team and is proving it. But that's what people will say! If McDavid is injured, then they may say, Oh, well McJesus was too injured to show up for the team...We'll see.
When the playoffs started, I really felt like all the teams in the East were much stronger than any in the West. So, the way this series is going is no surprise.
Edmonton is pretty much cooked at this point. They are going to need a miracle to win this series now.
Don't miss this year's international ice hockey glove sniffers convention - it should be remarkable if not downright mythical!
Bob Rossky just not making any happy little accidents
😂😂😂
Flyers fan here. Great to see the annual tradition of a player we let go dominating and winning a cup with someone else is going to continue for another year.
_P'BBbbbbbt!_ 👎
I tried rooting for the last Canadian team, but I've already seen enough to congratulate Florida. They deserve it.
With the way the Oilers played tonight, McDavid is gonna have to keep his head seriously on a swivel in game 3. Especially if Barkov can't play. I don't wish injury on him or anyone, but if that does happen, I don't want to hear any complaints about it. You reap what you sow.
If Barkov ends up being out it’s gonna be open season on McDavid
I doubt it. I can't see Florida risking a suspension or waking up the Oilers.
McDavid didnt do anything, Draisaitl on the other hand. If he plays next game he will definitely feel it.
@@TheHockeyGuyUNLEASH THE LOMBERGHINI

@@koshka02 you’re full of sh!t.
Nurse was only on the ice for 4 minutes and still got scored on. 😂 He gonna run out of town if Oilers lose this series.
Why they picked him to be a defenseman is beyond me. My last favorite oiler team had Fernando Pisani on it.
I expect they'll buy him out when it's feasible... but probably another season or two before that. If Draisaitl or McDavid leaves, maybe they take the big cap hit then.
Everyone who can should go watch Game 6 between Cleveland and Hershey in the AHL. Amazing!
i'm from hershey, had nhl on the tv, ahl on the laptop
As an Oilers fan, I’m not giving up hope just yet. Weirder things have happened and I hope we tie it up with the home ice advantage.
Florida plays better away
Why are the oilers playing dirty trying to take out our guys head hunting on our captain
They’ve always been dirty. They have some of the biggest scumbags in the league on their team.
Didn't Bennett take out Marchand?
@mackman320 I know it didn't help them at all and will probably cost them more in the next game.
As a flames fan I can tell you we know well what kind of a team the oilers are. They’re low lives, and their fans are of even worse calibre. I hope the Panthers handle them like they deserve to be. Please do it for the rest of the league!!!!!
Some guys around the league are going to take cheap shots like that when they’re frustrated (good example would be my own team’s inexplicable captain, who in addition to throwing elbows was praised as a brilliant leader for throwing his helmet in a temper tantrum in 2022), because the league doesn’t really do anything to stop it. That being said the Panthers’ winning formula rests heavily on wearing down opponents until they make mistakes and then making them pay for those mistakes. Well, some guys lash out in response because they know there won’t be any consequences. I think we’re looking at the Panthers winning this, which means you’ll see other teams try to copy the blueprint. If the league doesn’t do something to get the flying elbows out of the game I can easily see a trend where this starts happening more and more around the league
Completely unacceptable from the oilers tonight. Panthers out worked and outplayed the oilers. In my head the series ended tonight. Congratulations Florida you deserve the cup.
@@Andrew_Holt holy smokes you’re a drama queen. One elbow and they are all nazis now?
Barkov, Lust, and Ekblad all possibly injured from this game. Ekblad will play on a broken foot or ankle regardless, I mean he scored the ENG. But for him to grimace in pain like that and Lust not being able to put any pressure on the leg, got me sad. Barky should be okay its probably concussion protocol.
Ekblad twisted his ankle. It didn't look bad enough to break any bones, but probably hurt like hell. Lusty had a Charlie horse, which is why he could barely stake on it. Again, it was painful for a few minutes but nothing more. Barkov is the one I'm worried about. It doesn't take much to get a concussion.
@@justinmiller5660 that's good to hear. If Barkov goes on concussion protocol, he'll miss game 3?
