  • @contessa.adella
    @contessa.adella 4 месяца назад +5

    Failed head gasket will do the same. The dead giveaway is the rough running for several seconds during start up after standing, until the coolant is all ejected from the wet cylinder and proper combustion commences. Some examples of this will remain drivable for months, but eventually the hot, high pressure combustion gas will eat the crack out worsening the symptoms until gas starts visibly bubbling out of the coolant tank…or it sucks the coolant hoses flat. Attended to early might just require a new head gasket, but if left the damage will need a more expensive head and block skim to resurface the eroded areas. If the or block are cracked…well that is gonna cost…a lot.

    I live in Sydney, Aus I got a 2016 ford focus sport with that eco boost engine bought it brand new, then at around 70k km mark I took it to Ford for a service, they asked if I had any concerns like they always ask when you take it in for a service I said yes, the coolant was slowly getting lower and lower all the way past the minimum line. They called me the next day told me that there was a leak in cylinder one and that they would need to replace the engine. Luckily at that time I still had warranty but it was real close to expiring. They said pick up the car and drive it as it will take 3-4 weeks for the engine to arrive and since you will be getting a new engine it doesn't matter how much you damage it, made sense so I drove it untill the engine arrived then they gave me a rental. Apparently it's a big issue in America and that this engine has a big design flaw which they fixed by redesigning the top part of the engine where the coolant goes through to cool the engine. If I could post a pic here on RUclips it would make sense what I'm talking about because Ford did rectify the engine problem it's just that in my case I didn't get the redisigned engine but rather just got it replaced with a new engine but old design. Anyway still got the car it's at 125k km and I love the car it's just that I'm paranoid it will happen again and I would have to fork out thousands for a engine.

    Hi, I have Ford Focus 2018, The mechanic and I didn't understand the problem. Please help me
    Last week I realized that there was no engine water. I went and bought an antifreeze water and filled it up. I drove 2-3 hours that day and parked it. When I came back 1 hour later, I saw that the bottom of the car was wet and the bottom of the water tank was wet. The water tank was %100 empty. The next day I went to the mechanic, the water tank had already been replaced 1 year ago so this time, the water pump and thermostat were replaced by a mechanic. There was no anormal heating on the gauge anytime but the water is still draining. It doesn't happen every time, but there is quite a lot of water coming out of the back of the tank. It is not about slowly leaking, the water tank can be empty in a couple of minutes after I turn off the engine. Not every time but once in 2-3 times after I drive and turned off.

    I have a couple questions if you don't mind helping me out as I'm in a sticky situation. I have the same issue you mentioned but it appears that the coolant loss and white smoke from it being burnt off only happens the day after long journeys. Does this give you any idea if its just a head gasket or a block crack? My local engine specialist told me if they strip the engine and it is cracked they can't put it back together, is this true? I want to strip it but can't afford an engine replacement if they can't put it back together. Since the repair costs are so high, does driving short trips seem viable or will the engine die on me. The car starts and runs fine bar the white smoke after long journeys. If the engine does give out, does this put me at risk of causing a crash? I.e. engine fails on motorway. I really appreciate any assistance in this matter.

    • @MrAutoFixer
      @MrAutoFixer  Месяц назад +1

      Hey 👋 let me try answer your questions, no you won’t be able to tell you till it’s apart and inspected. The garage won’t put it back together as it would still be broken and they just won’t do it as they see it as pointless, you could try some steel seal in it as that can fix broken head gaskets according to the advert, if the engine is to go pop on the motorway you would see the engine temp shoot up before hand or the engine would be running pretty ruff before it did go pop so not likely to cause a crash as you would have prior warning(normally)! Let me know if I can help any further 👍

    Thanks for the video, on the off chance you see this and have time to reply. My garage is guessing to fix my coolant leak. They replaced the housing where a valve looked like it was getting stuck so fair enough, they want to replace the pump next but confirm it may not fix the problem. 50 miles of driving takes the level well below min, I cannot find anything obvious that I can access based on other videos but the car barely gets to temperature, no heat from the blowers (although I did for a short period after the housing was replaced). IF there is coolant where the plugs are then we buy any car can take it but id rather fix it if I can keep the cost below 4 digits.

      Hey 👋 oh dear sounds like a nightmare! You should suggest to the garage to do the checks that I did in my video, if you don’t have a visible leak then it has to be going somewhere and that will either be internal of the engine or inside the vehicle somewhere you can’t see.

      @Twillsinc if the heaters are not getting hot it could well be a pump need to check the flow you should be able to look in the expansion bottle when it’s running and see the return flow, or you could have a heater matrix blocked, check the pipes going into the bulk heat and see if both or just one is hot, lastly if you are loosing coolant check the bottle cap as when hot it can loose coolant in the form of vapour which you won’t see also👍

My issue at first was that the coolant would forcefully ejecting out of the cap even tho the cap was properly screwed on. It didn't over heat. was not a stuck thermostat and all the coolant lines where free. So I was giving up . In all the RUclips search I had no answer. The only answer I would get from RUclips it could be a coolant cap or a head gasket. But wait ✋️ it didn't make sense my car did not over heat. Or was not overheating. So I solved it my self. It was the expansion tank it was a new expansion tank from the previous owner installed. That caused the problem. Your probably guessing if it's a new expansion tank then how was that the problem. Let me explain 🤔. I was wondering that my self it's a new expansion tank then there nothing wrong. I was wrong. I noticed that expansion tanks release pressure when the coolant gets to some 🌡 temperature. The one I had didn't because it was a cheap bad design Chinese aftermarket one. So I went to the junk yard and got a genuine ford expansion tank and my problem was solved

      @juanjosealbarellomarulanda2548 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@MrAutoFixer i took the car to a mechanic center and they put the pressure tester, indeed the pressure begans to drop very slowly, they checked under the car looking for leaks on radiator, hooses, water pump, thermostat, but nothing... Even they make another type of test, which consists of turning on the car with the pressure gauge connected and seeing how it takes pressure, according to the mechanic, it must maintain between 5 and 10 PSI and just at the moment in which the fan turns on, the pressure that must be at 10 PSI should drop to 5 PSI and when it turns off it should start to rise again, if for some reason the pressure rises more than 10 PSI, then it indicated that there is damage to the head gasket because then the pressure from the cylinders would be reaching the coolant system and that would indicate that the coolant is going to the combustion chamber. In that Test it never exceeded 10 PSI, when the fan was turned on, the pressure dropped to 5 psi and was maintained until the fan was turned off and the pressure slowly begans to rise again. Besides the fact that I don't have Misfire codes and I don't have white smoke from the exhaust, the only thing that makes me think is that the car has some porosity in a hose or in the radiator and precisely when it cools down the coolant evaporates and goes through that porosity. For now, I applied the Liqui Moly Stop Leak to see if the leak stops. Anyway, what would you recommend I do now? Or do you think that the test I wrote is useless and I need to see if the coolant is actually going to the combustion chamber?

    Hello there. I don't have a ford car but a Volvo V40 1.6 Diesel MY2014 which is actually a focus using a PSA engine. About a month ago I had a message for high engine temperature and slow down the car. I stopped the car at once and some coolant had been blown from the tank. I went to a local engineer, he changed the thermostat and then after refilling coolant he pressed something to take air of the system. After that, I went to the dealer, they used a flange test to check if there were exhaust gas in the tank, checked the engine temperature, the coolant level, any leakage, everything was fine. What I notice are few bubbles in the tank after some time of driving which is not like a boiling water but rather like air. Any ideas what to do please?

At the time the car was a month away from warranty expiring so Ford put in a new engine. In the US it's a big issue as these engines are in multiple ford models. I spoke to a guy from the US who sent me pictures of why it was happening and what the old engine block looked like and the new redisigned block head looks like. In my case they put a new engine in but from the old design which makes my car prone to having the same issue again. At the moment car has done over 125k km but I'm paranoid of it happening again and this time Il have to fork out the money because warranty expired years ago. It's just that I like the car and here in Australia we have a massive shortage of cars because of the Covid lock down no cars were brought into the country for over a year and now second hand cars are gone through the roof but to buy a new one, there is a minimum 9 month to 2 year wait.
