    Many times you can get a false overheat condition when the temp sensor in the centre of the head in the middle of the valve cover (2.5L) gets moisture into the pigtail and gives a false reading due to corrosion on the plug. Happened to me. 2.5L, 2012 Fusion
    An over heating motor won't go back to normal if it's something needing real attention. A stuck thermostat will let the guage go down if it opens, and you will also have interior heating issues...i.e. cold air when the engine is at operating temp. Collapsed hoses can be an issue, air locks, etc.

    What is the gauge is telling you it's overheating but there are no symptoms of it's overheating. No steam no telltale sounds I've been in vehicles that overheated and I have a Ford focus and last night suddenly the gauge began to fluctuate. So of course I pull off the side of the road because it was showing that the needle was all the way to the right in the red so I shut off the engine and throw open the hood and turn on my flashlight and there was just nothing interesting to see there was no smoke no steam nothing surprising nothing leaking strange occurrence and then I noticed it started to fluctuate when I got back in the car it had dropped a bit and then it began to creep back up to the red line and then the curious thing happened it dropped down to it's normal healthy level. I'm wondering if it's running at that temperature at all or if it's just running its regular temperature and the gauge is just messed up and telling me something that is concerning me

    I appreciate your videos and help for us weekend mechanics. I have been chasing an issue with my 2003 Expedition 5.4 Triton engine for several months now. After several minutes of each trip the temperature spikes for about 10 seconds before returning to normal, sometimes a couple of times. About a year ago I installed a new thermostat, this year I replaced the intake manifold (bad leak), water pump and the coolant reservoir cap. I believe I hear a gurgling sound behind the dash sometimes, not sure if related to heater core lines, the heater works fine though. Any thoughts to cure this issue?

    I have a question pls.
    My 2013 ford focus has a Ran which only runs when the AC is on. It overheats when the AC is off because the fan doesn't not run. How do I resolve this this and what could be the cause of the fan not running when AC is off.

    I have a 2015 Ford Transit Connect XLT and it was running great. No problem. I began to hear that the fan, to my understanding, was staying on and made a noise once I turned off the engine.
    At the moment, no more than 10 minutes after starting the car, the temperature rose. I was close to home and I had time to wait and then return to put it away. The transit lights up very well but after approximately 15 minutes it overheats again.
    I don't know what the problem is.

    Maybe someone can help me out:
    I have a mk2 focus 1.6 petrol. The temp gauge reads normal, I've also checked the obd2 reader and coolant temp is around 87C. However I've noticed that after driving in heavy traffic for about 30-45 mins in summer with the AC on, the hood above then engine gets really hot. I can touch it for a while, but it is uncomfortable. Pretty sure it would cook an egg. I checked the valve cover as well, the plastic is also quite hot. I'm worried it's overheating, but so far sensor reading looks normal. Also I didn't see the coolant boiling, so that would line up with the temp reading. So is this normal for a petrol engine?

    • @mwanzie
      @mwanzie 3 года назад

      Newer cars fans work with ECUs, if you remove the thermostat plug fan will run but you will get an error code on your Dash, it will register as an open circuit. Secondly The Temp sensor on modern can tells the ECU to engage the fan thru the relay, if you badly want to wire the fan directly Chances are that you will drain the Battery. as it will run all the time.
