When I was in the US Navy stationed in San Diego, my pregnant Wife had a craving for rolled tacos at 4 AM many days. I could only find one business that was open at that time in the morning. They would see me coming and they knew why I was there, so they had a dozen ready. Quick in and out. My Son loves tacos. Wonder where He got that? :-) .

I know what you mean. I immediately thought of my mom talking about how, in the 1920s and '30s, the ice wagon would come by every week. Mom said the ice cost 25¢. She and her sister would take their ice tongs and a quarter out to the ice man and haul the ice block in and plunk it in the ice box. I never saw any of that but, in my head, I still have the image I created when Mom told me the story. You are so right - it's the little things. 😊

I also wanted to give you my deepest thanks for always acknowledging our armed service members and veterans, it means a lot. They sacrifice a lot for us, and don’t need fanfare, just some decent respect…they don’t choose the war, etc. They go and fight for us where they’re told, and they fight to the death, and that deserves respect, regardless anyone’s politics.

Kent, its getting close to fall season here in Dallas. My better half calls this season "Caldo Time".
    Basically "Soup Season".
My favorite is the Tex-Mex version of "Caldo de Rez" with that delicious chuck roast, cut into chunks, and of course spiced, and souped with lots of veggies, potatoes, and small ears of corn on the cob. Served in a deep bowl, eat it with hot corn tortillas spread with butter and rolled up tight. Makes you all warm inside after watching another disappointing loss by the Dallas Cowgirls.

I knew a Mexican woman who used shredded beef to make her chili. It was very good. I have been thinking about that recently and with you using a crock pot to cook the meat so it is like shredded beef. I know those taquitos were very good and I might try to make them as well.
