When I was in the US Navy stationed in San Diego, my pregnant Wife had a craving for rolled tacos at 4 AM many days. I could only find one business that was open at that time in the morning. They would see me coming and they knew why I was there, so they had a dozen ready. Quick in and out. My Son loves tacos. Wonder where He got that? :-) .

Every time you say "ice box" I smile. It what I say and what mom and dad called the refrigerator. I am 51 with a 7 year old daughter and she calls it an ice box. The little things that make you happy.
I know what you mean. I immediately thought of my mom talking about how, in the 1920s and '30s, the ice wagon would come by every week. Mom said the ice cost 25¢. She and her sister would take their ice tongs and a quarter out to the ice man and haul the ice block in and plunk it in the ice box. I never saw any of that but, in my head, I still have the image I created when Mom told me the story. You are so right - it's the little things. 😊
Flautas are from Jalisco state. You can stuff them with chicken, schreded beef, mashed potatoes or cheese. The salsa of choice would be a green guacamole (made with tomatillos).
Im from El Paso. Chico's tacos has since gone from one location to a few. It's an "institution" now and definitely a must if you're ever visiting. My uncle opened a restaurant called Tacoholics. He had a dish on the menu that payed homage to Chico's. If you're ever in San Antonio, I'd definitely recommend trying them out.

Oh...by the way....the town I grew up in, Zillah Washington had a Stokely Van Camp French fry factory. They were the first to process frozen french frys and tatter tots in the US...the tots were introduced about 1962.
1/4 cup of baking soda, quart of hydrogen peroxide, 2 TBSP dawn dish soap, poor it on your dog and let it sit for up to 5 minutes then rinse off, repeat as necessary for skunk smell. just dealt with that yesterday on my dog. of course a good bath after the smell is gone. bet that skunk smell mixed great with the smell of the food cooking! lol

To us , Southern most of Texas, Rio grade valley area, flautas are corn rolled taquitos filled with barbacoa or chicken and shallow fried. Taco de harina is just the flour tortilla taco .

Looks good , In Mexico we call these either Tacos Dorados , or Taquitos Dorados , we also call them Flautas , but that depends on the region of Mexico , Dorados means fried crispy . Take care buddy thanks for the delicious content .

My hubby and I are in process of making these Taquitos today. We started the crockpot this morning and followed the directions. It is now late afternoon and my hubby and I are getting the cast iron skillets ready. I am going to warm the corn tortillas, and we are going to fill and roll and he is going to drop them in the oil in just a few minutes! I am pulling up this video again to guide us through to the final product. Hope these are delicious because we are having some for supper, and we are taking some for our church Bible study group to enjoy tomorrow!! We will let you know later how they were!!! You provide great options that can be made in so many ways that all can accomplish, this is another. Love the country creativity, outstanding settings and sincerity of your efforts for all of us who watch and learn.
You can warm the tortilla over a pan, normally in Mexico we make them when the tortilla is fresh from the mill, but reheating in the pan does the trick, deep frying them is not that necessary, you can use enough oil that allows the taco to stay roll, then when finish it you put some crema spreaded over the tacos then lettuce, salsa verde or red salsa queso fresco or panela cheese, and thats it, the fillings could be boiled chicken, tinga de pollo, beef tinga, potato and carrots if you are vegan or just love the taste, cheese and carrots :3 Love the video!! I knew a Mexican woman who used shredded beef to make her chili. It was very good. I have been thinking about that recently and with you using a crock pot to cook the meat so it is like shredded beef. I know those taquitos were very good and I might try to make them as well.

That's a for sure deskunk shampoo recipe. Apply to dry coat, let sit for 5 minutes!

Flautas are made with a bigger and thinner tortilla, and had shredder meat, mexican cream or crema and queso cotija, guacamole and some salsa
Definitely not flautas but it’s easy to confuse the two since the show both essentially the same thing

Here in San Diego, when I get them at restaurants, they are usually covered in guacamole, lettuce and cheese. So good.

A bit of corn starch slurry right at the edge of the roll works good to "glue" the tortillas if you are making a lot of rolled tacos in advance.
So I am not the only one who found this secret of sealing stuff up.

I knew a Mexican woman who used shredded beef to make her chili. It was very good. I have been thinking about that recently and with you using a crock pot to cook the meat so it is like shredded beef. I know those taquitos were very good and I might try to make them as well.
