Why my F150 BLEW UP a second time - My Theory (Part 2 of 3)
My last one blew up due to bad cats on my second truck now. Thank you for the video!
When is part 3.....would like to know what happened to the engine
Forreal ! I'm dying to know....
Sorry again about your blown motor. For those of you who didn't watch the video until the end; surprise, it wasn't the cylinder deactivation parts. The heads are in perfect condition as are the cylinder deactivation parts.
Bro that OLD LADY TROLLED THE SHIT OUT OF YOU HAHAHA
So, the EPA Is the problem. Not having vehicle be built the way they should with forged parts
You dont think all that e85 at wot washed out 1 or more cylinders. I started adding vp racing M2 lubricant in the e85
Really sorry about the blown engine. I have built and blown a few over the years. Sometimes finding the weakest link is catastrophic. You just never know if you got something in there just is not going to measure up. I hope one day you guys build a ridiculously powerful Ecoboost. That engine seems to have some potential.
Try eliminating those high flow cats next time around.
I agree i got rid of my cats from the get go
What's up with the wolf? Haven't seen it in a while
This has to be tuning/fuel related. No chance small cylinder deactivation valvetrain parts cause a sudden catastrophic failure like that. How many rpm's is this motor cranking? I've seen limits of 7200rpms highly encouraged due to the belt drive oil pump system. But ford tested these to 11000hp.
lol! 11K HP?
@@beyondthedetailsno lmao he’s talking about the gen 4 5.0 f150 oil pump belt being tested at 11k rpm
Is it possible to swap a gem 2 or gen 3 in the new f150s?
I have all the same mods .....now im afraid to step on it. Whipple 3.5 pulley id 1050 injectors running e85 jd dual pumps headers no cats
I guess its inevitable 😢
Stock Whipple tune from my research seems very safe. Issues start once you go over it which is the case here. tunned to 900hp vs 700hp
@@Iwo26 isn't 900 a stock "stage 2" tune . The difference between stage 1 and 2 Whipple is blower only for stage 1 meanwhile stage 2 is injectors , aux fuel , pulley act..
Difference between stage 1 and stage 2 is mild injectors 750 but u still cant run e85 and no 900hp is not a stage 2. You need to upgrade to 1000cc injectors and add an extra pump to run e85 which enables you to pulley down you will need tune as well
Man, that hole in the block was heartbreaking to see. No fun and the old lady!!!
Alot more power, too much of a good thing!
What pulley size did u have on?
3.5
Can you avoid this issue with different heads ?
My theory is that the PTWA sleeving can't handle the abuse, those sleeves are only like 30 thou and when you add high compression and RPM's they just can't hang in there. I wish they'd go back to steel sleeving. That was the sane thing to do. PTWA is a good experiment but time and time again that venture has proven to not hold for reliability.
Gen 3 is same that thing rips 1000hp
@@justingill5256 what do you mean
So if you got the deactivation delete from the factory do we still have those springs and components?
No. What they delete from some builds is the auto start/stop. Cylinder deactivation is still on every 5.0 motor 21+.
So if it’s deleted from factory when ordering is that still an issue. Hope this isn’t a stupid question!
Here's the deal. When they delete auto start stop from the factory all they are doing is making the truck not turn off and on at stop signs and red lights. It still has cylinder deactivation in the motor. It still will switch to four cylinder mode in situations where it doesn't require to much power at cruising highway speeds etc. All of the 5.0 motors from 21 and up have cylinder deactivation. Period. You can't delete that from the factory and you shouldn't confuse that with auto start stop delete. It's two different systems. One shuts the truck off at a red light and the other shuts off four cylinders when driving. The latter has not been removed from any of these trucks no matter the situation or whatever you bought from Ford.
@@BackroadDriverYou can’t disable cylinder deactivation with Forscan? I also thought that driving in sport mode stops cylinder deactivation
What size pulley were you running and what fuel ?
E85 and a 3.5 pulley.
@@BackroadDriver did you figure out the problem? Was it the cats ?
All the built blocks i seen are 2020 and below have not seen anything for 2021+
Who tuned it?
Im still sick that this happened to the Hammer
Time for a 7.3 Godzilla crate
Oh man! My Gen 2 coyote needed to be replaced last month and so put in. Gen 3 short block and reattached the whipple. Are you all referencing issues with the Gen 4? Sorry about your ‘loss’! 😫
I have a twin turbo 2018 f-150. I have the same oil leaking through the exhaust. Motor will not make boost. Running E-85 and 12lbs of boost. Having trouble finding someone to rebuild the motor. Everyone is saying two to three months even to look at it. Live in Houston Texas but i will transport. These motors fail all the time thanks for making the video.
There's lots of options in the Houston area. Good shops too.
I haven't gone back to look at the previous video when the the first engine gave out, but did TC Customs replace the block or rebuild the block? Because either way I am thinking after seeing this video one of those blocks was not built(if it was replaced) or rebuilt correctly(If it was the original block). Also if TC Customs rebuilt the block and/or used/reused some or all of the internals, I think that might be your issue.
Looking forward to Part #3
Tc customs is a scam artist that destroys customers vehicles and then claimed to me he informs the customer of what hes doing to your ride.
The motor TC customs installed was a complete long block from Ford with no upgrades. 18-20 can handle this level of power with ease. 21+ just don't seem to be as reliable. TC did exactly what I asked and to Fords spec. Not their fault.
@@thesamizeri think you misinterpreted what i said: im not blaming TC customs for your motor blowing. I am however calling them out for making videos on the internet of him hot rodding customers vehicles around. I know i wouldn't appreciate that and dont buy into his claim saying he informs the customers. 4wd launches are hard on drivetrains if anyone is going to destroy one its gonna be me!
As to why these gen 4 motors are falling apart is a mystery. I wonder if it happens to do with the factory whipple tune? I know how these are locked for the general public so we have no real way of knowing but id assume you can retrieve simple data as to AFR's? Did your opcs survive? Did it skip timing? I know you said it was leaking a ton of fluids but i had an issue with my gen 3 consuming alot of oil in its early days. Check your intake and see if it has oil thats been bypassing the PCV system. I had to replace mine early on because it was sucking in alot of oil. Im not an expert by any means but know enough to keep me out of trouble lol. Hope you can salvage some parts and id love to see it up and running soon. Good luck 🤞
Was it from the cats?
The cats were good. I had GESI cats installed not factory. I removed them after the startup to make sure everything was looking good and after all the oil burnt off they still seem to have some life in them. They were definitely not clogged and we're not the issue.
Sounds like what happened to auto vlogs channel he had a f150 that he supercharged and tune and he had a bunch of problems with it needless to say he did beat on it hard lol
Grab a salvage mustang 5.0;)
The hammer? More like, the nail.
At least your undercarriage won't be rusting anytime soon 😜. I was just at the shop considering going from 865hp to 1000hp but maybe I'll hold off a little longer now. Seems like the wolf's coyote > than the hammer's coyote.
Myself I would be tempted to go with a built 7.3 Godzilla motor.
By the sounds of it, you’re not a fan of cylinder deactivation… haha
Get an engine from ford and get and engine that doesn’t have cylinder deactivation just to be safe
The hammer already been faster but why sam keep mess with hammer so now her laying down serious and u gonna spend alot a money to fix her that not worth.
😊👍🌹
Sam what do you think a ford engineer would tell you? Your trying to make a rocket out of a stock production engine I don't ever see this being successful. Nascar only gets 500 miles out of a real race engine.I enjoy watching all this madness but this hobby will break your heart and your wallet. peace
Sorry about the motor.
Do what I am gonna do
I am building a 7.3 Godzilla setting it up to run the 3.8 Whipple when availiable to drop in my Roush F-150.
I dont watch your channel. Idk all the info. 1000hp? On stock block? No rods or pistons? No upgraded oil pump?
lol, dude why even comment
@chaznad5411 hi thank you for the comment. Don't forget to like and subscribe
You just need to put a regular stock engine back in it and live with it. then you would have no problems.
That sucks big time
Can I have your catback, if you chose to not rebuild?
Should of gotten a TRX lol 😆
That's what she said
'Promosm'
hey einstine build a motor that hanndles the hp/torque you want…slapping 705 hp parts on a 395 hp base motor not a suprize that it blew…when they build 1000 hp motors there is no cyl deactivation…stupidity blew the motor nothing else. you coud have built one hell of a motor with all that money u spent rebuilding/replacing those 3 motors…fat boy should listen to his younger brother more
I'm guessing you didn't watch the video until the end. Understandable. The cylinder deactivation parts remained intact. The heads were perfectly fine. He wanted to blame those parts so badly, but that isn't the case here. There plenty of examples of coyotes handling that level of power without an issue. Whoever built his short block fucked it up...or bad gas. Can't tell without more data.
Oh and btw, Ford directly offers the FP700 kit with an extended 3 year powertrain warranty that comes with the exact same Whipple on his truck. I think the engineers knew what they were doing after watching owner after owner of previous gen coyotes throw forced induction on their engines.
I'll give you my address if you want to call me "Fat Boy" to my face. I would love that actually.
I hope you know gen 3 coyotes are known for handling 700-900 hp even beyond on stock bottom end just fine. It’s just these new gen coyotes.
The problem is you made this video before you actually researched the gen 4 engine lmao.
Yep ya got a ford when you need a HEMI DODGE a engine that can take what you give it.
The Hemi is a great engine but eats a lot of cams in its own right. Besides if Dodge really gave a shit they wouldn't be dumping it.
@@BamaTidefan1967 they dumping it over emissions not because it's bad, ford and gm blowing out cams too over cylinder deactivation and poor cam heat treatment and poor alloys. But the hellcats, boosted Hemis especially the 426 don't have these issues it's the 5.7 6.1 6.2 natural aspirated that has this not common issue. Plus almost 50% of those failures are because of inadequate oil and not using oil analysis. My neighbor has a 5.7 Hemi that got the recall for the lifters took his truck in which was running fine when they went to do it they found no issue. They asked him what he was doing. Ready. He told him when he got the Truck Brand new day one. He removed the factory oil. Put Amsoil Signature Series 100% synthetic in and a synthetic nanonet media Amsoil oil filter. With oil analysis to watch for oil quality and wear metals. And changed oil filter and or oil accordingly. Lifters that normally are flawed and collapse aren't. They put it back together because they were fine and he's put on another 170k miles since. Total miles on the truck 280K miles. 50/50 highway/ city driving Short trip. OCI's any where from 10 to 20k 6 months to 1 year based on oil analysis report.
Literally selling my hemi to get a F-150 5.0 because the hemi 5.7 can’t take any boost over 3 or 5 lbs before you start breaking shit lol literally for a $15k supercharger the hemi only picks up 120whp anything more and they explode as to where you can safely run an extra 300whp in a stock 5.0
@@BoostedYote AMEN and RTR!
@@BoostedYote and your ignorant ass don't know shit. 30 psi because you never boost a stock engine any moron knows this, pistons rods crank and caps must be forged for anything boosted. Naturally aspirated engines normally don't have forged components. Ignorant.
