Dear Blind Wave, please react to the mini series Over the garden wall. It's such an amazing (and underrated) show and I think you would enjoy it. Thanks ^^
This episode orginally aired with a dedication to Elizabeth Sladen aka Sarah-Jane Smith who sadly died of cancer 4 days prior to airing and therefore ending the Sarah-Jane Adventures as well
yeah I think it's only on the original TV airing thing. all DVDs and Netflix etc. don't have it just the normal episode along with that stupid Amy recap before the opening
She is still my favourite companion (Tom Baker is my favourite Doctor) and I can't believe that its 7 years since she passed away so soon after losing Nicholas Courtney aka The Brigadier.
Moffat always knows how to write a terrifying monster. Vashta Nerada (carnivorous shadows from The Library), the Weeping Angels, and now these aliens (No *SPOILERS* for first time viewers).
I first became aware of W. Morgan Sheppard (as he went by then) in 'Max Headroom'. He was in an early episode of 'Babylon 5' as well as a surprising turn in 'Gettysburg'. I'm not as familiar with his son Mark's work, but looking at IMDB I see he's done a lot that I've missed. I saw 'Firefly' the first time around and bought the DVD the day it was released. I've watched it a dozen times and to my amazement and embarrassment I never recognized him as Badger.
Aliens of London: The Doctor says his age is 900 years. Voyage of the Damned: 903 The End of Time: 906 A couple of times in series 5: 907 The Impossible Astronaut: 909 and 1103.
You guys are about to witness a series that will almost certainly blow every other series out of the water for you guys. Especially knowing how analytical you guys have been of the rest of the show. Even when you don't know what's happening at first, when it's revealed or explained, you will almost certainly be in awe. Series 6 should be the perfect series for the ways your guys' minds work.
OmegaGambit I really hope they discuss the “good men don’t need so many rules” line which is one of my favs. Then again I’m someone holding out for a valeyard season. One day. 😀
I think most people, when faced with danger, will instinctively look over their shoulder very quickly, just to check if there might be more danger, and if we have a potential escape route. I don't think Rory was planning to turn around and talk to River at length, I think he was just instinctively looking over his shoulder without even thinking about it. Under any other circumstance he would have looked away and then instantly looked back again in less than as second. But because the memory loss effect kicked in as soon as he took his eyes off the hallway, he forgot what he was doing and why he was turning around halfway through the motion. Obviously different people respond to danger in different ways, and it also depends on what the danger actually is, but I could totally imagine myself doing the same thing in his position. If it was a snake or a spider, like Shane and Calvin mentioned, then I'd keep my eyes on it, since I already know what snakes and spiders are, and I know they can move really fast if you don't watch them closely. But if I saw a tall-ass alien monster in a fucking suit, I'm pretty sure I might flash my eyes away from it at least for an instance because I wouldn't really know how to respond properly.
And so begins of the best, most intense, stressful, mind blowing, heartbreaking, theory cracking, seasons of this show! I remember the year everyone was freaking out cause shit got dialed up to 11 already on just episode 1 and this plot stays thru the season so you aren't gonna get a resolution for a whole year! This two parter is still one of my favs and i can't wait for episode 7 P.S. i actually visited that spot where the Doctor meets Amy Rory and River next to Monument Valley!

The reason Doctor Who is referred to as "Series" rather than "Seasons" isn't so much to do with it being a British show, it's more to do with the fact that the 'classic series' refers to it's episodes groups as "Seasons", so for example Season 6 of Doctor Who actually happened in 1968, whereas Series 6 happened in 2011. I guess it's just a way to stop people from getting confused, but in fact has actually made it more confusing for some overseas audiences 😂
I mean, no. All British shows are multiple series not seasons, that's just what we call it. It's 100% just a British thing that we call them that and not seasons.
I'm so excited for series 6. It is honestly one of my favourites (which is definitely in part because I have a lot of nostalgia for it - it was when I caught up to the show). And this two-parter is one of my favourite series-openers. Glad you all enjoyed it, despite (and maybe because) all the confusion and WTF-faces. Oh and I'm glad the guys are pointing out things like beautiful shots and the music - I love that stuff in this one. Also, that discussion had me trying to cover up my laughter so much that my sister came in to check on me since she thought I was crying. While it didn't really stick to the point, it was amazing. "HOW DID THE BEAR GET IN THE ROOM?!" - classic Blind Wave. And the reaction too of course. Aaron must have had so much fun watching the chaos unfold. And yes, that is indeed Mark Sheppard's dad. I usually say this, but I'm SO HYPED FOR NEXT WEEK.
I love this episode. Especially River. I think this struck a better chord with what I liked about her in Silence in the Library. Alo, the flirting between her and The Doctor (in the next episode too) is so fun, and he's kind of playing along. (Even with his whole "trust you?" thing)
Love this era. Beautifully layered, emotionally resonant, full of ideas, and redefining the possibilities of these kind of shows. A real step up in quality.
NPE 94 I agree up to around this time in the the Moffat run. From the middle of Series 6 and onwards there’s a real decline in quality. In Series 6, the arc is set up very well but the payoff is a disaster. The Moffat era is really only great for a series or so.
Izzy belle also agree! I’ve been watching ever since series 1 back when I was 6. I think series 6 had a lot of strong individual stories that explored interesting concepts such as a future episode involving a time machine (spoilers) and a lot of the episodes are quite scary. Not that I was scared, but from an outside perspective my sister who doesn’t watch the show said it was scary and I realised the monsters in this episode are spooky, as are future ones.
YES, welcome to series 6! So confusing but amazing. Definitely my favourite series with all the twists and turns it has. I have $5 subscription, may have to wait for all the episodes to be out, then get $10 for a month and re-watch them all, because every episode is good and the full length of this episode made it soooo good as the reactions were so funny and epic. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
Only doctor who alien that ever scared me. edit: the Doctor never said they were going back to try and save him, only that that was where they would be going.
Oh, damn... I haven't rewatched these episodes in three years, but I've seen all of Supernatural in that time. It never once hit me that Crowley was Delaware... o_O Oh, and I almost forgot about this part: 10:40 One of the most hilariously cringey moments in all of New Who. "Whaaat'rrree yyyoouuuu dooooinn'?" "Ssaaavinnn' yooouurr liiiiffffe!"
I think the reason why they didn't immediately scream when they saw the monster because they didn't want to scream until they were sure it wasn't following them. If the monster hadn't really noticed or cared about them, screaming immediately would be a surefire way to draw attention to themselves. It's usually better to quietly back away and close the door and *then* scream.
I think what Calvin meant about Amy being pregnant last episode is that in the beginning they said the ship has 4000 passengers and towards the end Doctor said 4003 so that's Amy, Rory and the kid (I also noticed it myself when I was rewatching it knowing that she's pregnant)

Can't wit for the next episode, especially the ending of next episode what a cliff hanger. The aliens are called the silence and they were based off those aliens from the scream painting.
I actually love season 6! I’ll accept that there may not be a beautiful ending to season 6, but it has such great episodes! And even with that being said, I actually don’t even mind the ending.
Good outways the bad for me. This two parter, a good man goes to war, the doctor's wife, the woman who waited, and the god complex are all great to brilliant. Closing time and the flesh two parter are ok. Curse of the black spot, night terrors, lets kill hitler and the wedding of river song are bad, but not as bad as the lowest points of RTD's era. That's 9 ok- amazing episodes, and the strong moments are too good to ruin it.
They used Mark Shephard's father to play the older Canton; they'd tried aging Mark using prosthetics, but it looked like prosthetics. So they got his real dad to play his older self.
You generally want to turn in the direction of the person you are talking to so that they can actually hear you clearly. He would have turned right back in a second if he hadn't forgotten.
This is Doctor Who. The LAND of bootstrap paradoxes. Also, I love this season. These four main characters are what I think of when I think of Doctor Who.
Also there was an episode shortly after Rory joined the team where she was literally pregnant... The doctor subconscious is the one that created the dreams so subconsciously he knew that putting them on the tardis together right next to their wedding would lead to such things
I remember absolutely hating this episode when it first came out only because this was the first two-parter premiere and I was so used to having the premiere be a really fun, enjoyable self-contained opening so my frustration levels were at 100032403240% lol. Also the first to adopt the American 'mid-season break' formula which was also annoying having been used to a full uninterrupted season of Who every year since 2005.
They're definitely father and son. I love when they play older and younger versions of the same character but both are brilliant character actors in their own right as well. So glad you're enjoying 11!
Guys dont expect this to be as well written as last season. Its a convoluted mess but some of the episodes are a next level of great so its still worth it.
16:16 - No, Canton was also there to direct Amy, Rory and River to meet him in 1969. If they didn’t know who he was and what he told them, they’d not have been able to tell the Doctor, who then used the information to direct the TARDIS to where it eventually landed in the Oval Office in 1969.
Oh my gosh. It never occurred to me that that boatman with the gas canister was Canton. Almost ten freakin years and I never made that connection until now.
That's so creepy, playing with the feeling of Deja Vu. You FEEL like something is familiar but you can't quite put your finger on it. It could be an alien you can't remember
Dont get why they think the Doctor dying two hundred years later in his time stream means they think he has been out of contact with them for two hundred years. Its pretty obvious its only been months for the current Doctor. They could easily think he spent plenty of time with them and went back in time for his death at a later date.

Does the full length reaction have the video of the episode in it as well ?
DeadEye364 no it doesn’t, you have to find your own reference footage
Got 10 minutes into that, then gave up and came back here.
At least you use clips for context here!
Aliens? What aliens are they talking about? This episode didn’t have any. It was just the mysterious astronaut. They must be tripping.
What joke?
I have like seven tally marks on my arm for some reason after watching this.
kaizoku_jesse weird I have 9

Opinion: The Silence are the best villains to be introduced to the show since the Weaping Angels.
Vashta Nerada
Midnight Entity
The what I forgot those

Shame that their last episode was a bit anticlimatic for them.

Shane in End of Time "Who's this f*cker?" and later "I don't like him."
Shane in this episode "He better not regenerate. I like this dude."
They're definitely father and son. I love when they play older and younger versions of the same character but both are brilliant character actors in their own right as well. So glad you're enjoying 11!
I always love how we go from "Who tf is this dude?" To "he better not regenerate. I like this guy," 😂
The Silence are the creature voice that you heard in the finale on the TARDIS!!!!
Guys dont expect this to be as well written as last season. Its a convoluted mess but some of the episodes are a next level of great so its still worth it.
Such a good series
16:16 - No, Canton was also there to direct Amy, Rory and River to meet him in 1969. If they didn’t know who he was and what he told them, they’d not have been able to tell the Doctor, who then used the information to direct the TARDIS to where it eventually landed in the Oval Office in 1969.
calvin is right because they say the ship had 4000 passangers but after he says 4003 the passangers plus amy, rory and the baby, nice catch
Oh my gosh. It never occurred to me that that boatman with the gas canister was Canton. Almost ten freakin years and I never made that connection until now.
I feel like someone needs to tell Eric the voice he heard in the TARDIS was prisoner zero from Matt Smith's first episode...
Jeez it’s 1 in the morning...guess sleep can wait a little longer!
That's so creepy, playing with the feeling of Deja Vu. You FEEL like something is familiar but you can't quite put your finger on it. It could be an alien you can't remember
i remember watching this as a kid, the silence scared the absolute shit out of me
I'm re-watching the last two reactions back-to-back.
William Morgan Sheppard was also in Babylon 5 -- he played the Soul Hunter in Season 1 episode 2 "Soul Hunter".
Shane (The End of Time): Who is this fucker? Don't like him!
Shane (The Impossible Astronaut): He better not regenerate. I like this dude.
Dont get why they think the Doctor dying two hundred years later in his time stream means they think he has been out of contact with them for two hundred years.
Its pretty obvious its only been months for the current Doctor. They could easily think he spent plenty of time with them and went back in time for his death at a later date.
interesting note: older and younger canton were played by father and son actors matt and william morgan sheppard.
