  • Another recipe to save you some money instead of going and paying $5 or more for a special coffee or tea. This looked so good, my Mom took it out of my hand and claimed it for herself when I was done. LOL! I think I added a bit too much ice and milk, but you get the idea of how to make it. You can add whatever sweeteners you like. Make it to your liking!

    Thanks, this looks great. I had a thought. My daughter makes herself iced coffee every morning, but she makes the hot coffee first, adds sweetener while it's hot, then lets it cool down in the fridge while she gets ready for work. Then, when she is about to leave, she adds the ice and milk, etc. So the ice doesn't melt so much and water everything down. I think I may try that with this drink too. Thanks for posting.

      I used to work at starbucks and what we would do for iced lattes is add the milk into the hot espresso and THEN add the ice :) so the same thing can apply to this tea :) if you add the cold milk to the hot tea it will make it around room temp and then when you add the ice cubes they won’t melt - making it watery :) hope that helps!

    • @ChefCarter
      @ChefCarter  3 года назад +1

      I am not sure what I would use to replace that as only the evaporated milk makes it really creamy. Sometimes I just drink the tea without milk and/or sugar. There is one chai tea flavor called Bengal Spice. It is extremely spicy and naturally sweet. The sweetness comes from this ingredient called carob which is also a superfood! You can usually find it at the grocery or Amazon has it as well.

I make different teas for me and my 13yr. Old. / if your interested I think I make a pretty good spiced tea 😍 green or black sometimes I do a little of both. You gotta try Cinnadust also!! I sprinkle it over my ice and then my honey kinda sticks to that, a little sugar, and we put sugar in our brewed tea then put it in the fridge to cool down, then I put heavy cream over the ice, if I brewed my tea with fruit I put some in each glass then I pour the tea just on the edge so the cream doesn’t completely mix in… more Cinnadust on top and omg!!! So good 😊

    • @ChefCarter
      @ChefCarter  3 года назад +4

      Good question! The milk I used is evaporated; which means most of the water has been removed. Perhaps use cream of coconut for the milk substitute? But that is the issue. Almond milk as is just waters it down too much. Another idea that comes to mind is to use more tea and less water to brew it so that it is even stronger. Thanks for watching!

      @@ChefCarter Almond Milk is not Milk. It just looks like Milk. What it is is almonds soaked or blended in Water, and then strained, in a super fine strainer. It is very healthy, when made the real, natural way. The store bought stuff has all sorts of horrible additives. Anyways, I am going way off topic. As healthy as I understand it is, I would never want to use it to make an iced Chai latte, because it is basically just water. I can understand why it would taste horrible.

    • @nailahmathew2885

      first, you may need to use more chai to get a stronger flavor. next almond milk is made from almonds and water so if u want to make it creamier than i suggest actual milk or half and half. there should be other plant based milks that are less watery so u should look into that if u don’t drink cow milk

    I’m sorry but I tried this and it doesn’t taste like a chai tea latte drink to me at all. The honey throws it off and it needs more depth of flavors in the tea concentrate. The evaporated milk also gives it a strange flavor and texture profile that veers far away from a true chai tea drink. I couldn’t finish it. I’m a die hard Starbucks chai tea latte drinker so everything I try to make is compared to what my taste buds both like and are used to. I’ll keep trying to find a good recipe. Thank you anyway. I’m glad you found one that you like. That’s more than 75% of the battle. 👍🏻

      @@ChefCarter want to see chai icecream never imagined it. Chai is a big business in India like coffee in US. But the businesses are small time tea vendors lots of them instead of say a star bucks.
      Star bucks in India I find very expensive.
