Today, I tried your Masala Chai recipe in the morning, and I was truly blown away by the taste of it. I tasted many other "exotic" recipes from internet for this delicacy but didn't get good results. Yours one was simple yet delicious. The chai actually tasted like chai because of the lesser amount of milk and hard liquor, not like some milkshake. Thanks 🎉

Sometimes I achieve great depth of flavor and other times it's flat. You've shown me what I may be doing wrong! I'm trying your techniques this afternoon! Thank you again!

Thank you SO much! I've been drinking chai consistently for years now but have always been intimidated and intrigued to make it on my own. Something about using whole spices always seems like it requires a lot of skill - but this combined with a desi friend giving me his recommendations made it so much more approachable. I visited my local indian grocery store to get the whole spices (The spices were so much cheaper compared to at American grocery stores and so much more bang for your buck it's crazy) & ended up using whole peppercorns that I mashed with a makeshift mortar and pestle (a ceramic bowl and spoon handle), black cardamom, half a cinnamon stick & a few cloves. So happy I can finally stop buying chai concentrate and keep experimenting with making my own (-: Hopefully this helps any one who also has been apprehensive to make it from scratch
Wonderful video thank you so much for sharing and God bless. I am the daughter of a Mexican mom and an American white man and married to a Nigerian and I have some Indian spices here and now can make a proper chai. What a blessing to learn from other cultures.

Was absolutely delicious! I tweaked the recipe and did one cup of water and kept the same measurements for the spices. After drinking this I probably wont be able to go back to chai concentrate.
About your plants; they thrive on being cut back. An alternative is 'pinning' them up, so the 'branches' flourish and grow outward. The one that you say you've cut back numerous times is looking a little 'leggy' and might benefit from either a larger container and fresh soil, or much more sunlight and less frequent waterings. Or a hardy trimming. 🙂 Going to drink some Chai, now❣️ Thx❣️
I tried to make chai after seeing your video. After i taste it, it was soo good! but i feel familiar with the taste. Its a lil bit like "bandrek" in my country (indonesia). maybe because the taste of tea that i use is not strong. In my country, we use ginger, cloves, cinnamon, pandan leaves, brown sugar, a lil bit of salt and boiled in water. We didnt use tea or milk. I love both!🥰
I love spice, and I just got a chance to taste a masala chai for the first time few days ago. And I love it. After watching this video, I'll definitely making this drink as one of my favourite drink to make at home.
Tahnk you for the video!! Also, respectufully chop your plants lady! ^^ they'll love it! or speciffically for the last one, the pothos, you can simply fold back the steam with a nod or 2 into the soil and they will grow new roots out of it! bigger and stronger leafs ahead! Thoses plants are made be be taken care of "willdly". You can cut an recut, put steams with some leafs in water for couple of weeks to grow new plant etc etc makes them grow larger rather that too long (sorry if there's any mistake, french island person here ^^)
Thank you Chetna. I'm experimenting with warming comfort foods this coming autumn and winter here in England and have never made this kind of chai at home, for shame! I will follow your recipe and when feeling bold, also tackle the recipe I have for homemade crumpets. Much exciting but simple activity in my home this winter! 😊🍵
You are so amazing - thank you for making these recipes so approachable. I am a piano teacher, & my clients often make me the most delicious masala chai. I am a loyal & fussy coffee drinker, but this is the most delicious & comforting beverage. I love it! Thank you!
This is great, thanks! You’ve inspired me to have a proper go w whole spices & my pestle & mortar (which I never use 😅) but I also make a lazy caffeine-free version w rooibos or dandelion tea, almond milk, & ground spices - often cloves, cinnamon & turmeric. Today you inspired me to add ground cardamom & ginger!
I adore masala chai. When I was in India a few years back I drank it by the bucketful but I had to remember to ask to make it without sugar as I really do not like sweet hot drinks. I will try your version as well.
@@FoodwithChetna some restaurants near me have gotten so used to English speakers doubling the name, that when one orders masala chai, they look confused and ask “chai tea?”

I first had chai when I was deployed to Iraq the first few timeS and have loved it ever since. Those Iraqis made some really good chai! I'd love to try your way.

I love spice, and I just got a chance to taste a masala chai for the first time few days ago. And I love it. After watching this video, I'll definitely making this drink as one of my favourite drink to make at home.
I like adding half of star anise to my chai along with the spices that you used - adds a nice touch.
But I bet yours tastes just as good ☕️
Sounds great!
I love the time you take to show us. It’s like we are in your kitchen. Thank you for the details.
you are welcome
You are so amazing - thank you for making these recipes so approachable. I am a piano teacher, & my clients often make me the most delicious masala chai. I am a loyal & fussy coffee drinker, but this is the most delicious & comforting beverage. I love it! Thank you!
You are very welcome
I visited India in November last year and after I came back was craving for masala tea 😊 Thanks for the great video.
How timely! I was thinking a couple days ago I would like to see a real chai being made. Hooray for Chetna! Looks great
Thank u so much my my mum has a kinda chai business and I’m trying to help hope she likes it thanks it smells amazing
Wonderful!
I will forever call it just chai now and be making this myself. I add a teaspoon of vanilla honey to mine. Yum
Yum
I absolutely love your spice drawer 😍😍
Thanks
Wow that fresh ginger crushed makes a big difference to the packet chai . Gives it a zing .
Yes absolutely
I adore masala chai. When I was in India a few years back I drank it by the bucketful but I had to remember to ask to make it without sugar as I really do not like sweet hot drinks. I will try your version as well.
Hope you will like it
my son and I enjoyed your video a lot. We are making chi tomorrow morning. Thank you!
Great video Chetna as always. I loved when you were insistent, in a very polite way, about what we should call chai - got it and thanks again.
Thanks
@@FoodwithChetna some restaurants near me have gotten so used to English speakers doubling the name, that when one orders masala chai, they look confused and ask “chai tea?”
My daughter taught me not to say chai tea. Also, naan bread. My son-in-law just smiles and says it doesn't really matter lol
For me it's the same when someone says hot water heater. If the water is already hot it dont need to be heated . It's a water heater. Anyway I digress.
I first had chai when I was deployed to Iraq the first few timeS and have loved it ever since. Those Iraqis made some really good chai! I'd love to try your way.
Best tea I have made. I have struggled in the past. I added fresh mint. You have such self confidence!
delicious chai! I was craving this yesterday - a chilly wet Fall day in New York :-)
Enjoy
I will definitely be trying your recipe, masala chai is my favorite!
Your spice drawers are amazing! Wow!
Thanks Susan
You made me smile-as I was drooling over your lovely spice center, you had to start searching for what you needed! I have such an assortment of spices I can't keep them in 1 location either. But yours are still organized much more neatly than I can organize mine. Thanks for the chai primer. And now I get it why some chai tea I liked & some I didn't.
Remember, just chai not chai tea :)
hope you will try this version of chai
And she most likely has another location to house all of the remnants in the bulk containers that would not fit in the jars.
@@calartian85 I am so giggling! I hadn't thought of that, but if it's like my house it's absolutely true. I spent some time this morning addressing that very challenge! Decanting some things into smaller jars & trying to figure out where to tuck the rest away! Thank you for giving me a smile today, Gid bless
@@calartian85 ha3. Exactly. Mines in d fridge
Amazing 😮 without labeling the jars you know which is what! That’s a lot of spices 😮
Thank you so much Maam for this lovely recipe of masala chai. I'm having a cold and so I made this tea and it tastes lovely. I can feel the warmth spread throughout my body. I'm enjoying the tea with my mom and she loves it too. You've shown me how simple the recipe is. Thank you again. 🙏💕
Hi, I tried your Chai tday. I made without ginger and added a very tiny piece of cinnamon. It turned out real yum. Many thanks for sharing 😊❤
Holy wow, I'm envious of your spice setup. I share the kitchen so all my spices are relegated to the back of a cupboard and I have to crouch to see what I have, lol. I hope to have something like yours one day!
Everyone has a glass jar drawer like that , didn't you know? Oh..sorry your not wealthy are you. Like Steve Heaps new kitchen (see his amazing channel for over 1000 recipes). You, me and him, different social class mate. .
I hope you have a spice draw of your own soon!
I'm sure Chetna's version of chai tastes out of this world. This is a top shelf tea.
Thanks a lot
That cup of chai looks so good 😍
Normally when I take 2 cups of tea it’s boils down to one 😂 how u managed to still get two full cup of tea😍
i've been working on creating a chai that works for me! i love reading and watching about it, it's so cool and i always learn something!! i put it in a thermos and it still hurts after leaving it open for like 90 minutes lol !
it's so cozy
I usually boil water with fresh few pieces of ginger, clove and cinnamon and leave the pan on the stove so whenever I want chai all I have to do is heat it up with tea bag and add milk. Quick cup of tea. Just an idea🙂
That's a great idea!
I went to India so many times. Your historical sites are great! I love Masala chai and never forget to ask for this special tea everyday during my trip to India. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
Haven't been drinking tea or coffee for a long time. But this is such an inspiring video that made me decide to have a cup of masala chai this evening. Thanks so much!
Hope you will enjoy this
I am so happy I found you and you have a 🇵🇷 Puerto Rican fan...thank you ❤️ so much for sharing. I feel like a famous single mom who makes chai and it's delicious 😋
Gracias
What’s your favorite brand of black tea for chai
Never knew Ellen made such great chai, thank you so much 🙏🏼
I like the recipe and omg fell in love with how organized you are with the spices. I think I’ll do the same in my kitchen now :) also love your hair style too
Thanks Fatima
I tried it and i love it. I used to buy the already mixed form, from the supermarket in abuja about 7yrs ago and they just disappeared, i am taking this after 7yrs of craving, didnt know i could make this, with the stash of indian spices i have athome
P.s my sister had an indian friend 10yrs ago who introduced us to indian spices and thats all i ever buy now... love their aroma
I never knew that Chai was so easy to make! I am definitely going to try this! Thank you
Hope you enjoy
Chai means Tea some say Cha
Chetna, I can smell your lovely chai and it’s evoking memories. My dad made the best chai ever. As a kid I could drink pints of it but he wouldn’t allow it or should I say my mother wouldn’t allow it as I was a kid. But goodness me, it was delish 😋.
😍
