My grandmother used to make her Bansko Bulgarian version but without cheese but still delicious and she would make a huge pot of it so we would it it warm for breakfast and also eat it cold in a sandwich. Of course our food is heavily influenced by Turkish cooking and Turkish food is excellent and influenced by Arab cooking. We are lucky to have inherited the cuisines…
Do you maybe have some ideas as for additional vegetables or spices or whatever to use other than onion and garlic? Greetings from Estonia. I fell in love with Turkish food when I used to travel a lot to Barcelona with Turkish Airlines. They feed you like crazy on the plain. And they land in Istanbul. If your stay between flights is longer than just a few hours you will either be accommodated in a really nice hotel at their expense, with breakfast and dinner included (or an Istanbul trip for free if at daytime, and unfortunately my stops have never yet been at daytime). So from the airplane and from those hotels I got to know Turkish food and I just fell in love with it. i am not at all a food person. I eat very randomly and I never focus on food in my life in general or while travelling. But Turkish food is an exception. In Estonia, where the climate and nature is tough, and not much grows here naturally, we do not have much vegetable in our dishes. Of course we can now buy everything in supermarkets, but since it has never so far been in our food culture, we do not really know much about what to do with various strange vegetable. Maybe people from the Middle East or Southern Europe would know more about that. I love tomatoes. And we do eat aa lot of tomatoes. But only cold. Making warm dishes out of tomatoes is an alien conception here but I love it. In Estonia, also, getting good tomatoes is hard. It grows here naturally but only once a year. All the rest of the year we have to buy imported ones, usually from Holland. And those taste like paper. Tomatoes from Morocco or Turkey or Israel are a lot better, but we tend to get less of those.
A few years ago I came across a menemen recipe. Told my mom about it, she asked if I could make her some. In August 2020 om her 77th birthday I made her some for breakfast. She simply adored the dish. It was our last breakfast together, as she passed away of a stroke a few weeks later. Thank you for your excellent videos. Much appreciated. I have done the traditional menemen in many variations - added hot peppers, sprinkle of green peas and of course the trusted pepperoni! These favourites just set your day!

I remember when I was making menemen last year. Here in Indonesia, we have darker green chili but to me it is not spicy at all. We also have chili like kıl biber but it also has darker green color we called it cabe keriting or "curly chili". I used large red chili because we only have it in our house. I didn't use onion in my menemen, just the tomatoes, chilies, and some mozzarella. It has lighter taste compared to shakshuka that use onion and more spices. It is perfect for a simple breakfast, enjoy with either bread or rice 👍

Ayşenur- I do it regularly- and I’ve tried switching up some of the ingredients- like adding cheese- mozzarella. It’s amazing! I’ve always used onions. I didn’t know that onions were not a must!
I noticed that on some of the Iranian channels they make something similar but they add in onions and they eat it with their flatbreads. Thank you for the step by step instructions. It’s very helpful.
The recipe for this food is so intuitive that I think it is universal, not from a specific country. I made it so many times even before the internet appeared and without imagining that other nations would prepare it considering it a food from their country.
Merhaba! Dear, here in India we aslo make this egg dish.. but we prepare this with lot's of onion, green chilli( thin,) which you had shown us and some coriander leaves for garnishing . Menemen is one the great Turkish dishes! 🇹🇷 I like mine spicier with more hot pepper but that is personal preference 😊🌶️❤️ I especially love it for dinner ❤ Yet every time I see a Turkish breakfast I am in awe. The most beautiful gathering of food 😍 And since watching your channel I make my jams your way. It’s much more flavourful than overly thick North American jams. Menemen quickly became one of my favourite dishes for breakfast. So comforting and flavourful. I also like to add some oregano in the recipe. 😋
And the tomato and peppers sauce alone is absolutely fabulous for making pizza!

Günaydın Aysenur,
We are long time viewers and obviously love your videos: cooking, travel, and shopping in Istanbul!
We have finally made it to Türkiye, and in August we will be in Istanbul !
While watching your new Menemen video Joyce, my wife, is making my breakfast omelet, ellerine sağlık, The ingredients are very similar to menemen, but the cooking is reversed: first fluff and cook the eggs, then add the cheese, tomatoes, etc.
It would be great to visit with you while we are in Istanbul.
Kolay gelsin,
Toby and Joyce

Ayşenur- I do it regularly- and I’ve tried switching up some of the ingredients- like adding cheese- mozzarella. It’s amazing! I’ve always used onions. I didn’t know that onions were not a must!
Delicious, will make this again, greetings from New Zealand..Aotearoa ❤
I noticed that on some of the Iranian channels they make something similar but they add in onions and they eat it with their flatbreads. Thank you for the step by step instructions. It’s very helpful.
We have the same dish,in albanian is called Fërgese and it's so deliciousss😊😊😊
You are amazing. I am from India. I love Turkish food. Thank you.

😍 I love Turkish cuisine! Thank you so much !!!
Thank you for your vedio. Çok Teşekkürler
Уже почти полночь и посмотрела такой чудесный рецепт,сразу есть захотелось,но завтра я его сделаю обязательно.Баркал за рецепт.
The recipe for this food is so intuitive that I think it is universal, not from a specific country.
I made it so many times even before the internet appeared and without imagining that other nations would prepare it considering it a food from their country.
Bravo za božanstven recept. U mojoj zemlji se kuva slično jelo. Bravo👏👍💕
Thank you for sharing!
Me maravilla esta cultura, su cocina es deliciosa y este plato seguro lo practicare, gracias por compartir

I'm south African. Love this dish. Shukraan for sharing
Thank you for the constant inspiration in the kitchen! ❤❤
Yes, we like it spicy to but it’s sometimes hard to adjust when using spicy peppers so I usually sprinkle pul biber when serving and we add more if we want to😊 my pleasure 🙋🏻♀️
Sunt din România și îmi place fff mult acest fel de mâncare. Multumesc
