Made this today & it changed my life! I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to use good vanilla beans (I got a Tahitian variety)…it really made a difference.🙏🏻 My go-to iced latte: New Orleans Style Cold Brew (Chameleon Brand) + Oat Milk (Oatly Barista Edition) + Homemade Vanilla Syrup = 🔥🔥🔥
I ordered my vanilla pods and sugars specifically because of this video. Got a decent digital scale so I'm going to do this today. Will update soon. Thanks, Hanbit. 감사합니다, oppa.
So wonderful, thank you! Vanilla is my favorite flavor, and the prep reminds me of an amazing vanilla bean vinaigrette that a wonderful chef with the biggest heart gave to me after I raved about it in his restaurant. He passed away and I always think of him when making it.
This is sooo good! And so simple!!! I love anything vanilla. Since I am quite sensitive to caffeine in the afternoon I simply put it into some hot frothy milk. It's the perfect after work treat for me. I have a few other ideas I would like to try it with. Thank you for your videos! I love how you provide details on why things should be done a certain way (condensation on syrup shortens shelf life - I would have never known!). Now I'm off to binge-watch the rest of your videos :) Greetings from Vienna/Austria!
I’m fructose intolerant so can’t eat any “normal” sugar and cane sugar since they contain fructose, too. Little tip for anyone with the same problem: use powdered dextrose (glucose) and brown it a tiny bit in a pan to make caramel. Don’t make to very dark, just enough so it has a little color. Ideal for replacing the cane sugar
It has been 9 days since making my first batch of this vanilla syrup and I wanted to share some findings here. 1. I was very meticulous about getting the plastic wrap down to the surface of the syrup. Despite this I still had a couple very small folds that I missed. The syrup is still good at the 9 day mark. No stringiness(would imply bacterial growth) and the flavor and scent are still very prevalent and clean. 2. This vanilla syrup flavors cold beverages much better than hot ones. 2 tablespoons in a tall glass of cold brew is perfect for me. 4 tablespoons in a hot mug of coffee and I can barely notice the vanilla. 3. Due to heavy experimentation I inadvertently discovered that vanilla is an effective appetite suppressant. I found myself surprised at my near complete lack of appetite on the days I attempted heavy syrup in hot coffee. However, reasonable usage had no noticeable effect on my appetite. 👍 4. Vanilla beans can be quite staining! My nylon cutting board still has dark lines where I scrapped the vanilla pods. I would recommend a paper plate or non-porous surface for processing your vanilla. Best of luck everyone! Edit: P.S. Use good vanilla beans. 2 of my batches I used Great Value(Walmart house-brand) and they were not that great. Spice Islands bourbon vanilla beans work very well and the price is basically the same.
Many thanks for this easy and detailed recipe! I made it with a little dried out vanilla pod, and still the syrup is aromatic and balanced. Prosperity to your channel!)
What heat did you use, low, medium and you took it off at boiling point; right? Still do not understand what heat to have and when to take it off the heat.
Teacher, you taught me so much but strangely, today was the first time I have ever seen Vanilla in its original form. I wonder if the plant smells less sweet than vanilla favoring. I guess so? Thank you. 🙂
I have been a crazy Starbucks fanatic! Loved the Starbucks Frappuccino. Late nights working as a nurse most of my overtime hours went to my coffee habit. Then I switched to the bottled versions and it went up in price during Covid. I then had two babies, became stay at home mother, and needed to make my own coffees bc I couldn’t afford the habit. I had an expensive taste with a poor girl budget hahaha. So I went on a mission. I had to duplicate this drink! First of all, you can watch thousands of frappe dupes but none come close! I’ve wasted so many hours listening to old baristas, but they never give away the full secret (don’t want to get sued) and what I found was the secret is FRAPPE BASE along with vanilla syrup. Well these ingredients are also crazy expensive! So now I had to find out how to make a frappe base along with the syrup. And it all failed! The imitation vanilla didn’t taste the same, and corn syrup was not a great substitute. I also ran into problems bc I didn’t like the vanilla syrup off of Walmart or Amazon, I felt they tasted too fake and wasn’t making my frappes taste any good. Then one day I found vanilla beans at the store. Hmmm the real deal. So I typed in frappe with vanilla beans and found this video. Then I found his frappe video. Let me tell you it’s an EXACT dupe and I’d argue it’s even better than Starbucks! Here is what I use for my frappe base 1. Dry condensed sweetened milk, 2. Dry sugar (just some not a lot) 3. Vanilla powder 4. Real vanilla beans 5. Xanathax gum But now I just use this syrup with his frappe recipe and it tastes just as good! Vanilla in its original form is the secret!
